Rejected Send Mail workaround

Hi, everyone!
I, too, have encountered the "Can't send message using the server xxxxx.xxxx.com" dialogue when using my PowerBook G4. I recently switched ISPs to TimeWarner RoadRunner in Los Angeles. I'm hard-wired into an XP machine (don't shoot me!), and wireless routered to my Mac. Although TimeWarner's online help states that you should set mail up to use Password Authentication -- and I did -- TimeWarner's tech support had me turn password authentication off to get around the "Can't send message" dialogue. However, when away from home, I found that I had to have Password Authentication checked in order to send mail. I did not want to have to switch this setting every time that I came and returned from home. I disabled my firewalls, opened the port on the router, and still, I could not send mail at home with Password Authentication checked. I tried everything so that I could leave Password Authentication checked all of the time, but nothing worked, and I've tried most of the suggestions in this forum. What I ended up doing was to "Add Server" to create another RoadRunner outgoing mail server, so that I now have one with Password Authentication and one without. When I'm at home and I get the message "Can't send message..." I go into Mail Preferences, Accounts, and choose the unsecured server. Question: does anyone know of any other way to resolve this problem without having to toggle between secured and unsecured server setups? It seems that because TimeWarner RoadRunner is the "native" ISP at home and already logged in via my router and XP machine, my Mac doesn't require authentication. Thank you all very much!

I had the same issue on my iPhone 5S.  My internet/email provider told me to uncheck (turn off) USE SSL under Mail settings, and it worked perfectly for me.

  • Since upgrade to iOS 7 Email error on over 100KB emails "Cannot Send Mail  The message was rejected by the server because it is too large." Connecting to Exchange via Activesync

    Hi,
Following the upgrade to iOS 7.0.3 on all our iPhone and iPad devices, it has been identified that when sending emails around 100KB in size and over an error message appears on the device stating “Cannot Send Mail  The message was rejected by the server because it is too large.” See error message below. The send/receive limit is over 10MB so this is not the issue.
We are in an Exchange Environment using Microsoft Activesync. This issue is not evident in iOS 6. This has been tested on an iPhone 3GS running version iOS 6.1.3. We have been unable to repeat the issues seen on iOS 7 on the older OS. It is not possible to roll back to the older operating system as Apple are no longer signing the software.
We use Microsoft Active Sync to connect to our Exchange servers through a TMG. The issue is very inconsistent, some identical emails go through, some fail. This is not an issue with the send/receive limit as this is over 10MB. The error message when it fails on the TMG is Status: 413 Request Entity Too Large, which we believe is from IIS on the CAS server.
Does anyone have any suggest course of actions to take?
    Many Thanks

This resolution have to attend at the server not with the ios device. My employer's mail administrator reject me to correct it from the server. As his concern is, if ither ios devices works why don't mine? So I am helpless than changing my iphone. It works fine for early versions of ios and with androids. And also one of my friends iphone4 with ios 7 (similar as mine) works too. So I guess it's something wrong with my iPhones settings. But basic question I cannot understand is it works in my phone before this ios7 upgrading. And currently working with my yahoo account too. Favourable reply expected.

  • HT3228 I set up my work e-mail on iphone.  When I try to send an e-mail, an error code says "Cannot Send Mail", "recipient rejected by server because it does not allow relaying".  What does this mean and how do I correct it?

I set up my work e-mail account on my iphone 4S.  When I try to send an e-mail message from my phone, an error message occurs "Cannot Send Mail" - "recipient was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying".  What does this mean and how do I correct it?

Get the correct mail server settings from your IT department.

I keep getting a message "cannot send mail" a copy has been placed in your outbox. The recipient was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying. How can I fix this error so I can send emails.

The issue definitely sounds like your Outgoing/SMTP settings need to be changed.  Simply set them to the proper settings for your provider as was suggested above.
I found this link for Knology:  http://support.knology.net/content/email.setup.cfm
The SMTP settings can be edited on the iPad/iPhone by going to Settings--> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, edit the account having trouble, click the Account, then at the bottom is the SMTP server info, click on it to edit it further.
It should allow you to edit the primary smtp server and let you enter all the good stuff as you see in the Knology link above.
Some providers require you to register your account on their service like AT&T.

  • Sending mail with multiple dest., one is rejected - mail is rejected, why?

    Hello,
I have a problem with my messaging server, while sending mails to multiple users, and one of them does not exist or is overquota.
If one of the recipients gets rejected (email address does not exists or is overquota), the email is rejected (type J register) and no one receive it.
any idea why messaging is doing this?

It is up to the email client to determine how an individual rejected recipient address is handled, i.e. should it continue sending the email or give up and alert the user.
any idea why messaging is doing this? This is how all efficient email servers operate. What is the email client that you are using to send the email?

The noexquota option does nothing on Sun Messaging Server:
"Note that these options have no effect on delivery to Messaging Server mailboxes on any platform. "

You may however want to try the acceptalladdresses channel option:

Try going into the account's outgoing SMTP server settings, and if they are not already filled in add your account id and password to the outgoing settings : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then select the account the account on the right-hand side and go onto into it's SMTP server settings

How do I get rid of this problem?
    WNS

    Hi there,
If you have a closer look at message you are receiving it already states the problem. The domain 71-12-190-31.dhcp.leds.al.charter.com is blacklisted by spamhaus.org (is in an RBL).
Your TB is (my guess) setup to send the message directly to the recipient.
As a rule of thumb the majority of mail sent from a dynamic dns address (the kind of address you are getting from your ISP) is blacklisted as a precaution against spam abuse due to virus/trojan infected PC's.
Nothing you can change there. Stop sending the message directly and use your ISP's account instead.

  • Outgoing server rejects password; can't send mail

Today, for no apparent reason, I can't send out any mail. No hardware, no software changes. (I'm use Mail 2.0.7 with my iMac G5.)
When I try to send mail I get this message: "The SMTP server “outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net” rejected the password for user “carolbenham”
My provider — Verizon DSL — took me through their process and the password I'm entering is correct and works for both signing in, sending and receiving e-mail on my their web page e-mail. It ONLY doesn't work with Mac's Mail program. Only Mac's Mail program says the correct password is rejected.
    Idea anybody? I'm desperate!

Thanks Simon. I'm keeping that fix in mind for next time. For no reason whatsoever, Mail.app stopped asking me for a password (and then rejecting it) after the computer had been unused and asleep for a couple of hours. It sent all the outgoing mail automatically as soon as I launched the program.
    Too strange!

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    Hi
You need to check with your ISP whether or not the send mail server (SMTP) requires a password.  Some do, but many do not.  When you know the correct password to send mail, then you need to tell Mail as follows:
Mail menu > Preferences > Accounts > Select the account
Click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) combo box, and select Edit SMTP Server List...
In the Account Information tab put the server name
In the Advanced Tab, set up the authentication information from your ISP.
    Good luck

I just got a new MacBook and after setting up Mail, I can receive emails but I can't send them. I get an error message that reads "The SMTP server “smtpauth.earthlink.net” rejected the password. I've checked the outgoing mail server, my user name and password and everything is correct. And I still can't send mail. HELP!
