Related Content on Formula Cells

I am trying to create a report that has related content. I want to apply the related content to formula cells but that functionality is disabled on the formula cells in FR Studio. Is there a configuration or property that must be changed to get this to work?

Which version are you using?
11.1.2.0 added the functionality to add Related Content links to be created in any part of a report - such as formula and text rows and columns, row and column headers, images, text boxes and even all of the cells in a grid.

when i coppied the code i never removed the second decleration of the list so the method had it's own list and the class had it's own list.

Related content is not populating the links

HI All,
I'm new to Hyperion FR reporting, I'm trying to achive the Drill Throught in the report by activating the RELATED CONTENT in the cell porperties. Every thing seems to be fine, but when I run the report, the link are not populating on any of the amount fields. please let me if i'm missing something or do i have to change any conditional formating on the report.

Hi
Having selected the cells on which you want the related content link to be active and selected the Related Content check box you then have to select the related content report by clicking on the button under the checkbox and selecting the drill to report from the list of available reports, normally this will be from the BI+ Workspace list.

Hi All,
While making a report in FR, When i want to add related content to the cell and after checking the add related content checkbox -> setup, i cant see anything into the "addrelated content" windows that pops up after clicking on Setup.
Can anyone help me out, how to populate it?

Thanks for ur reply. But i have a question where do we have customize option on the Add related content window where in we need to select the content from Available category to related content category?
Once we click setup after checking the related content checkbox, only option what i get is the window to select the available contents to the related content and this is were i do not find anything in under the AVAILABLE category.

Can a formula produced Cell identity ever be used to extract the contents of the cell ?

1) Does anyone know if the contents of a cell whos address is obtained with    ' ADDRESS(ROW(),3,4) '    can be placed in another cell ?
I have only been able to use it as a reference such as:-   =IF((ROW()-2)>(ADDRESS(ROW(),3,4)),"Y","N")   This uses the content of column C on the same row as the function, and compares to a row number 2 rows further up; (ROW()-2)   but you can't seem to obtain or place the content in another cell. like you can with   =C5.
2) Does anyone know how to locate the row/cell in a column range, say, D2:D8 that is empty or has a specified value ?
The idea is to determin    1) if a a row has been added and, because any cells in that row will be empty,   2) locate the row.
I realise that both solutions are not necessary for the obove but, they would be useful for other uses if they can be done.

Breaking that down, using the C5 example:
You have the text string "C"
You have, using a formula, determined the row number 5.
You want to get the content of cell C5
Use CONCATENATE to build the text string "C5"
Use that text string "C5" as the argument for INDIRECT
Your formula will be =INDIRECT(CONCATENATE("C",sum(2,3)))
with 'sum(2,3)' replaced by the formula you are using to determine the row number needed for the cell reference.

Linking to related content from WA document

Is there anyway create a related-content link to an FR document from within a WA dashboard, without having the link placed within a grid cell? I would ideally like to use a button, but the "Open Document" services button only allows me to link to another WA document, not FR.
I'm working in WA Studio on Hyperion System 9.
Appreciate any tips.

You can use the "External Browser" service button there you have to paste the link of the FR report which can be copied from the workspace.

Cannot Autofill sequential content into adjacent cells in Numbers

Numbers V3.2 for OSX
Problem #1:
I cannot Autofill sequential content into adjacent cells. I enter Jan., Feb. into the first two cells, then try to use the little yellow ball to project Mar., Apr., etc. into the adjacent cells. I'm new to Numbers, so maybe I'm missing something. I've used Excel for over 25 years, and I'm now trying to convert to Numbers.
Problem #2:
How do you link a cell from one spreedsheet to a second spreedsheet? I read all of the Help files and can't find a reference.

"I found that one of my problems is that I abbreviated the month, i.e., Jan."
If you include a period after Jan, Numbers will not recognize it as a shortened month name. use "Jan" (without the quotes).
Regarding linking cells:
If by "spreadsheets" you mean "Tables in the same document," cells in those two locations can be linked. In the simplest case (two tables on th same Sheet, or two tables, each with a name unique within the document, on separate Sheets, the Table name must be added to the cell reference.
Example: formula in a cell on table named "This" referencing cell B2 on a table named "That" located elsewhere in the same document:
=That::B2
If the second table is in a different document, no. Numbers cannot reference external documents.
If this is a significant issue, Provide Numbers Feedback, using the item of that name in the Numbers menu, to make a feature request for a future version of Numbers.

FR: how passing POV parameters through Related Content

Hi,
i'm using Financial Reporting as a reporting tool for my budget application over a Planning 9.3.1 system.
My question is about the possibility to use the related content in order to pass report POV parameters.
As we know it's possibile in FR open a new report starting from the cell of a initial report throught Related Content but i ask if is possible pass the current report POV to the new one in order to obtain a kind of "drill-down effect" based on a initial user-selection.

Hi Stefano
Yes it is possible providing that you have set up your reports correctly.
A common example would be:
Report1: Standard P&L report (Accounts in rows, Period in columns, Entity on POV) - initially run at a summary Entity level with drill link by account to
Report2: Entity in rows, Period in columns, Accounts on POV - use IDescendants(Current POV for Entity)
Effect is you start with a standard P&L report where you find an account with a variance you want to investigate (e.g. Staff Pay) click the related content link in the report and it will pass that account into the POV on the second report and expand the Entities down the row.

I configured a related content service for a custom page but unfortunately the related information does not appear for the page. Does anyone have any idea what am i missing?

Allways relate to the same cell,

How do I do, when I want to allways relate to the same cell, when I copy a cell multiple times. In Excel I do it with "$". How can i do it in Numbers?
Example:
If I copy "A1xB2" downwards, I will get "A2xB3", "A3xB4", "A4xB5"...
To obtain "A1xB3", "A1xB4", "A1xB5", in Excel I write "A$1xB3", "A$1xB4", "A$1xB5".
How can I do this in Numbers?

It's done essentially the same as in Excel. But the mechanics of inputing the $ anchor can be a little different. Instead of just typing it, on the Mac you usually click the address token in the formula editor and check 'Preserve Row' and/or 'Preserve Column'. In iOS you tap the address token and turn on 'Preserve Row' and/or 'Preserve Column' .

Passing filter/POV values from WA to FR using Related Content

I have a WA document with a spreadsheet and a drop-down menu that filters values in that spreasheet. I want to create a related content link between the WA doc and a separate FR report, such that the chosen filter value is passed along and changes a related POV on the FR report. Is this possible? Also, is it possible to open a related content URL via a button or some other control, instead of clicking within a spreadsheet cell?

it worked! By joined effort of you and Oracle (are you part of Oracle now?) - but mainly you - it worked.
First it didn't work. What I didn't realize that you were using smartcut in your example. I used related content's link. RC link has some paramenters after ? mark, so when I added another ? with attribute - it didn't take it. After some heated conversation with oracle where they first told me that this is impossible and then I poinetd them to this forum they gave me a hint.
I will be using RC link as it allows me to open it in PDF (smartcut opens in HTML).
Here is how my final statement looks like:

RSI - Relative Strength Index - formula to PowerPivot

Hello All
We´re trying to add the RSI ( Relative Strength Index ) formula to monthly data within PowerPivot.
Most of the work is done in the sample below:

But it complicates quickly when recursion is needed.
We already have the datamodel with the calendar, some sample data and the first working formulas in the sample.
The rest of the needed formulas are in the excel spreadsheet, but we need them within PowerPivot.

Output from Web Analysis Related Content will not Export to Excel

I have Web Analysis reports, data in which is sourced from an EIS database. I have drill thru reports that are accessible from "Related Content". The resulting report is created fine, but cannot be exported into Excel. Specifically, I'm prompted for the location of Excel on my pc. Once I browse to it, it will open in Excel.
I have upgraded from Office 10 to Office 12, although I cannot say for certain that is when this problem started occurring.
Secondly, there are no other BI+ issues with export to Excel. For example, FR and WA export fine. The ExcelPath in the webanalysis.properties file takes care of that. I'm hoping there is something similar to update for this problem.

Have you tried the print button in the web analyzer it does export the input filter parameters as part of the exported PDF document.
You can include any additional text elements and use a custom export template if required.

Financial Reporting 9.3.1 error with related content

Hi All,
I need some help with the below issue please:
We are on 9.3.1. We have a financial reporting report which contains related content that opens up in a new window and pulls an Interactive Reporting bqy. The data in the related content report is fine however once the related content window is open we cannot open anything else in the repository and get the following error:
2108: The object requested: [Hyperion Financial Reporting/Finance Reports/1. Financial Management Reports/SUGLR053] does not exist in the repository.
We must log out and log back in in order to be able to open any reports in the repository.
The related content window seems to cause this error. If we open the same first report but dont drill down to related content then everything works fine.
Has anyone come across this?

Hello,
I have also experience this issue in two different 11.1.1.3 environments and as you have stated, clearing the cache/deleting cookies resolves this issue. I was just wondering where I could find more information on the bug that you specifiec (Oracle Bug ID: 6900417). I have not been able to find any information on the web or within oracle concerning this bug number. Could you please provide more detailed information so that I can understand the issue better? Also, do you know if there is a fix for this issue instead of just a work around? Thank you in advance for your help and information.

How to edit contents of a cell?

In Numbers 2013, how does one edit the content of a cell besides typing directly in the cell?
In all prior versions of Numbers (like Excel), there was an editing area below the toolbar that extended across the screen. That area could be used to edit the contents of the currently selected cell.
Has this been completely removed from Numbers 2013 or is there a way to make it appear? If not, how does one edit a cell when a lot of text is being entered?

I may not have the proper terminology, but it always starts out covering the cell, and sometimes other adjacent cells, but can be dragged anywhere on the page.
