am I right when I say you want to migrate an existing java application (which kind of java application???)
The SAP netweaver Java application server is "just" an application server like others (e.g. JBoss) so that you can deploy your applications there too. In most cases.
Or what do you mean when you say you want to upgrade an application from Java to SAP?

There is no specific relation between EDI and SAP MM. SAP MM module is for your internal data while Industry EDI is communication media.
E.g.
If you create a PO in your system , it is related to your MM part while information with regards to craeted PO is supplied to vendor by EDI _ Electronic data interchange.

Relation between java and oracle

This is general information about java and oracle.
I had worked in java last one year, but now switch to oracle i heared that nearly combination of each are implemented oops concept. But i know where it used in java, not in oracle.
In oracle, where we are implemented inheritance, polymorhism and encapsulation.

does this mean you used to develop your applications on java and manuplate your data in Oracle over JDBC or Hibernate but then you started to develop PL/SQL applications for this need and use PL/SQL's OO features?

Relation between records and SAP Licenses.??

The Scenario of the issue is as below.
SAP Licenses held by the company is -- numbers.
And the employee records including PD(appraisal),PA & OM exceeds the allowed records numbers.
Qn1 Whats the realtion between SAP license and records ?
Qn2 How to go about in this scenario?
Qn3. Should i prioritise the existance of records in appraisals and delete the least priority after consulting the client?anyway OM & PA records should not be deleted.
Please throw some light on the issue.

As rightly said by Suresh Licence has nothing to do with Records/Employees. Licences are meant for the users who maintain these records in SAP.
You can have 1000 employees with those many records but can have 1 licence for the user who maintains it.

What is the difference between ERP2004 and SAP 47 Enterprise?

Currently we have SAP 47 Enterprise with WAS 6.2. I understand ERP2004 is NW and 6.4 sp9. Can any one please let me know the major difference between ERP2004 and SAP 4.7 Enterprise ( more from abap / workflow view)?

Error while creating connection between Java and ABAP

Experts
I am getting the following error message when I am trying to test the connection between JAVA and ABAP systems.
1. The system ID is valid
2. The system was retrieved.
3. The system object represents an SAP system
4. The following parameters are valid: Web AS Protocol (http) Web AS Host Name (s09f71v06.svr.bankone.net:8100)
5. The host name s09f71v06.svr.bankone.net was resolved successfully.
6. The server s09f71v06.svr.bankone.net *could not be pinged* successfully.
I have JAVA and ABAP on the same system. I am trying to establish a connection. I have checked all the settings and they looks fine. I have also pinged from other system to this server and the Ping works fine.
Please do let m eknow where do I need to check for the errros or logs for the above error message.

Check the relevant services are test are active on the Backend system through SICF trransaction.
Also make sure that default icm services are running.See note 517484.
More important the connector test in the portal system should work properly,recheck the WAS path etc are correct.

in this situation u have to creat new Z table and Z transaction with link of this both . it will solve ur problem . better to take abaper help other wise u can use T-CODE se11 to creat table.

I want to configure sso between java and abap instance for ESS/MSS. I couldnt find any guide for it, could you please help me gurus ?
Other question is, is there any specific role for ESS/MSS users in JAVA instance. I want to create users and assign this role to them.

Hope you are doing good.
There should be a / in the ITS path before SAP.
Basically the entry that you have mentioned here should be accessible via browser as well. For eg in your case:
http://<its hist name>/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui should be accessible over browser.
I also think you have put in a extra space in "w ebgui". It should be "webgui".
If the connector settings are working, then we can be sure that system connection is fine. You do not need to configure ITS settings.
Also for SSO, refer the SAP note:1083421 and configure the SS0 settings again.
Please run the SSO2 wizard and then make the automatic connection to
the abap server. This will solve any inconsistencies on the server
due to manual interventions.
Most likely reason for the error is that certificates were loaded
manually rather than using SSO wizard.

The SSO enabling parameters should be set on the R/3 server.
SSO Logon Ticket-> login/accept_sso2_ticket and login/create_sso2_ticket

Relation between URL and content in JSF navigation

Hello,
I've tried lots of JSF examples and there always occoured a strange kind of navigation to me:
The URL you see in the browser's address bar has nothing to do with the actually displayed JSP. Instead of that, the URL is always pointing to the previously called JSP - where the call to the current JSP comes from.
I know where this comes from:
If the form tags don't define an action, they are pointing to the current page itself.
And the actually called navigation case is chosen by a (hidden) post parameter.
So the JSF controller servlet doesn't actually care, which URL is called - it just regards the mentioned parameter.
This kind of navigation seems quite confusing, especcially since JSF claims to make navigation clearer.
One of the basic demands of the web applications we are developing is, to have a clear relation between URL and page content.
E.g. it must be possible to index the pages with search engines. Or to simply bookmark distinct pages in the browsers favourites.
Another problem about this navigation concept is, that it always works with forms and with post method (you can't choose get method), even if you just have simple links - e.g. detail view of a single item after selecting it from a list of items. That way it's not possible to ever use the back button of your browser.
I'm new to JSF, so my question:
Is this the (one-and-only) navigation concept of JSF, or are there alternative concepts as well?
I would be surprised, since the mentioned demands are basic web standard - although I didn't find any alternatives so far.

I'm not sure, if using a redirect on every single call is very achieveable and in the purpose of the JSF design.
E.g. it is generating a lot of traffic overhead.
(Identifying the navigation case by the page name instead of a hidden parameter would help a lot.)
Or the history of the browser doesn't work with it, so you can't identify visited links.
But anyways, there are also internal problems with it in most cases: I've inserted the <redirect/> tag in the navigation cases of a few examples. This just causes a call of the <to-view-id> page, without any parameters. So I probably have to add some non-standard-processing around the call to make it work:
If e.g. I have the standard case of a list of items (let's say in a dataTable), which are identified by an id. And each item uses a commandLink to call it's detail view.
* How do I get the identifier (id) as a parameter into the redirect URL?
* And how do I access this parameter in the destination form bean to choose the item to be displayed? (see also http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=607505)

Relation between sapstartsrv and saphostexec

I am trying to implement note 1826767 which says:
Resolution
Configure https for the sapstartsrv process. The necessary steps are described in the chapter 'Configuring HTTPS for the SAP Host Agent' in the SAP HANA Automated update guide.
My question is what is the relation between sapstartsrv and saphostexec here, i.e. why configuring HTTPS saphostexec is equivalent to configuring HTTPS for sapstartsrv? sapstartsrv and saphostexec are 2 different executables.

In newer versions of SAP, SAPHostExec
saphostexec is an executable that runs under root (UNIX) or the Local System Account (Microsoft Windows). It controls all of the functions for which a special user of this type are required, such as the operating system collector saposcol and sapacosprep. It is connected to sapstartsrv in host mode using a local socket, which ensures quick and secure communication and is also started during the startup of the host.

When you check the status of saphostexec using the command
/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saphostexec -status
You will see below processes
saphostexec running (pid = 4729)
sapstartsrv running (pid = 4732)
saposcol running (pid = 0)
I guess the relation is clear for you.

If you look in transaction we02 on the e-recruiting side and find the idoc you just sent over from ecc, what's the idoc status of it? Do you see any error messages for any particular segments? Basically this should help explain to you why SAP failed to insert any of the idoc segments into the e-recruiting database.
Does the CP or BP actually exist in e-recruiting, by the way? You could tell this by looking at transaction BP, or even transaction PP01 in e-recruiting. I'm just trying to get a sense of what the current situation is.
