Combine sales org. dist channel & division
Dear Gurus,
What is the use of combine sales org, combine dist channel, combine division?
We assign sales doc type to sales area not to individually sales org, dist channel & division?
I cud nt understand sales org with ref 2 sales org, dist chnl with ref 2 dist chnl & with division also?
Wt is the logic behind that? Kindly give logical answer?
Regards
RakeshDear Rakesh,
As GSL rightly mentioned that the use of Combine sales org. dist channel & division in addition to that,
I can say in one sentence what is the logic behind Combine sales org. dist channel & division.
"To share the sales document types to all sales areas"
It is like common divisions and distribution channel through this we can share the master data for all slaes areas which is maintained in one sales area.
But in Combine sales org. dist channel & division we share document types to all sales areas which are assigned to single sales area.
I hope this will help you,

Relation between Sales org and Shipping Point
Hai all,
Can any one tell me wt is the relation between Sales Org and Shipping point?
Ravi
< PLEASE DONT USE SMS LANGUAGE AND PLEASE SEARCH THE FORUMS. >Hi Ravi,
There is no direct relation.
Sales organisation in broader level, it is responsible for selling a product in a company.
It is liable to the customer interms of service of the product or service and confirmation of the sale order, delivery and invoicing.
Shipping Point is a logical point from where the shipment / dispatch begins.
Both Sales organisation & Shipping point wil be linked to plant (one or more).
In case of sale order, sales org will decide the delivering plant.
Shipping point will be picked based on delivery plant, sh.conditions (cmr) & loading grp (mmr).
hope this is clear to you now! -
Risk on wrong definition of sales organization, distribution channel and division
Hi,
our organization just started to implement SAP and SD module is one of the subject to complete.
We are in the defining phase of the above subject but I still can not understand the risk of being miss-defining the sales organization, distribution channel and division. Is it true will only impacting the pricing and reporting only? Are there going to be future impact on this?
Thank you before for your explanation.
AndyHi Andy,
Good to see the suggestions!
These are the rules I try to follow:
Do not over do it. Simple is better and facilitates change.
One sales organization for each company code unless significant differences exist between independent sales departments. Like one wants to use CRM and others won't. It's roughly equivalent to one by each top level sales director.
One distribution channel for each sales channel group that defines different prices or different shipping conditions for the same material. Like retail and wholesale have different pricing. Special rules can apply like mail delivery require different correspondence settings.
One division for each division of the company. If company has no clearly defined divisions (like Aeronautics and Footwear) there is no need (in sales) to split (it might in financials).
Using sales office and sales group for reporting is a lot better than the top level structures because it's easy to change them in master data, unlike sales org or distribution channel. And when departments get reorganized the system effort is significantly reduced if no change occurs at those three top levels.
So I normally use the sales office to the first or second level of reporting and sales group in some cases to represent individual sales persons or nothing at all in other cases.

Configure common dist channel and division
hi
how to configure common distribution channel and division
regards
hemaDefine Common Distribution Channels
T.Code: VOR1
The master data shared by several distribution channels applies to conditions and customer and material master data.
This helps you minimize the cost of creating and maintaining the master data.
You can also update statistics for each distribution channel and division without creating the master data for the different sub-areas of the organization.
Define Common Divisions
T.code: VOR2
The common master data across various divisions refer to the conditions and the customer master data.
You thus minimize the effort of entering and managing master data.
In addition, you can extrapolate your own statistics per division without having to create master data in the different organizational subareas

Diff between Ref Sales Org & Dist Chann, Div - Commom Dist Chann & Div
Can anybody explain me the clear diffrence with an example.
thanks,
VenkatHi,
Ref Sales Org & Dist Chann, Div is for reducing the number sales area you need to assign for allowing a perticular Sales Doc in this the common division and distribution channel will not work.
but for master data like Customer, material and CMIR you have to useCommon Division and Dist Chanel. and in this yo ucan not use Ref Sales Org & Dist Chann, Div.
the use is same but purpose is different. bit are used to reduce sales Area assignment respectively in their fields.
Hope this clarifies your
<b><u>Reference division/ Distribution Channel/ Sales Organization</u></b>:
<i>For sales order IMG> Sales and Distribution> Sales> Sales Document> Sales Document header> Assign Sales order type to permitted sales area</i>.
Note: in this you have option to combine Sales org, Dist chann and div as per requirement. But this will be only valid for Sales order only and will not apply on any master data. This will help as we need not to extend the SALES ORDER TYPE to all the DIVISION/ DISTRIBUTION CHANEL/ SALES ORGANIZATION.
<u><b>Common division/ Distribution Channel:</b></u>
<u>For master data: Like Customer master / material master and condition records.
IMG> Sales and Distribution> Master Data> define common dist channel / Division </u>Note: in this you make common division and distribution channel for master data. And only then they will share the records in each other. Initial customer record should be maintained in the common division maintained and no need to extend it to others.

<b>ENTERPRISE STRUCTURE:</b>
Enterprise Structure or Organizational Structure is a framework in which all business transactions can be processed.
Company Code: it is the company for which we implement SAP. It is defined by FI. (4 digits code). It is the highest level of organizational element in Ent Stru, which allows posting revenues to G/L accounts.

Sales Area: combination of Sales Organisation, Distribution Channel and Division.
Sales Line: combination of Sales Organisation and Distribution Channel.
Sales Office: geographical aspect of the organization. Sales offices are assigned to sales areas.
Plant: the factory is called the plant in SAP.

o Sales Organisation to Distribution Channel: Many to Many
o Distribution Channel to Division: Many to Many.
o Plant to Company Code: Many to One. In Intercompany: Many to Many
o Plant to Shipping Point: One to Many. Many to Many if in one geo area.
o Plant to Sales Organisation: Many to Many.
o Division is always organization specific.
o If sales organisation wants to use a plant, that plant must be assigned to the sales orgn.

Use of common distribution channel and division in CRM
Hi,
I have a requirement where the customer master will be created in a single dist channel and division combination in ECC and downloaded to CRM. However this customer will be used in different sales area combinations in CRM and ECC.
In ECC there is as standard setting wherein we can refer a sales area to other sales area.
Do we have any such functionality in CRM?
I went through posts and even tried to run Transaction CRMD_DOWNLOAD_SB and CRMD_DOWNLOAD_OM but the tables were not populated in CRM.
For information we are creating the org structure in CRM itself and not generating it from ECC.
Regards,
PPdear PP,
first, you can have a look the relevant master data division and distr. channels settings in config
here are the paths for CRM 7.0 system config (might be a bit different for previous versions):
spro->customer relationship management->master data->organisational management->division settings
spro->customer relationship management->master data->organisational management->organisational data for sales scenario
and second, the Assignment of Organisational Units from SAP ECC (same CRM spro config):
spro->customer relationship management->master data->organisational management->Assignment of Organisational Units from SAP ECC
please do not forget to check out the Data transfer (just one node lower) : Copy SAP ECC Sales Structure
t-code CRMC_R3_ORG_GENERATE
good luck!

Referenced sales org. AA00 and distribution channel do not exist
Hiii Driends,
I have came across a problem while Assigning Sales area to Sales doc type.....
Steps i have followed:
1. Created and assigned all Enterprise Structure
2. Set up Sales area (AA00/A1/A0)
3. IMG-SD-Sales-Sales Doc -Header-Assign Sale Area to Sales Doc type-Combine Sales Organisation. This is done succesfully.
But while doing 'Combine Distribution Channel' when I enter Ref Dist Chnl as A1, Error is appearing as "Referenced sales org. AA00 and distribution channel do not exist"
Can u sugest me any solution???
Regards,
AbhiHi Abhi,
If the referenced distribution channel is not assigned to the sales org of sales line which you are trying to refer....Message will be coming as you said...
Please check whether you are referencing a distribution channel which you have assigned to your sales organization or not...
Hope this helps you...
