Relations between portal terms "application", "service", "component"?

Hello everybody.
Who can explain differences and relations between portal terms "application", "service", "component", "iview"?
Thanks for attention.

as i can understand
application it is set of services and components
portal components are programms, which generate and produce content
they are part of applications
they show user-specific content
components are represented by iviews, where this content is available
service only provide different possibilities, and user have no direct use them
objects are things whith the help of which we can build content
they are systems, themes, desktops, rule collections, and content objects (iViews, pages, layouts, worksets, and roles)
is is a clear view or where i was wrong?
more interesting for me is realtions iview vs component, iview vs application

  • Relation between Payment term and Billing Plan

    Hi All,
I have gone through series of thread on Milestone billing and the Billing plan concept is understood but still I have a confusion regarding the relation between Payment Term that we maintain in OBB8 and the Billing plan that we maintain. practically both seems same.
For ex. Milestone Linked plan where 30% payment to be received on the completion of X work and 70% on the completion of Z work. what should be the payment term for this kind of milestone billing?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Binita Joshi

    Hi,
First there is one major difference between payment terms and billing plan.
Payment terms will come into effect once billing is done, based on the conditions of payment terms system decides whether a certain line item is  not due or overdue.
Billing plan on the other hand decides when to bill the first installment and when to bill second installment and final payment etc.
    For example:
for a order with billing plan has total value of INR 1000
    date                         Mile stone             percentage        Amount
    21.10.2011             Advance               10%                       100
    31.10.2011             installation              30 %                     300
    15.11.2011             Handing over         40  %                    400
    30.11.2011             Final invoice           20%                      200
System will create 4 invoices according to billing plan.
Once the bill is created according to payment terms FBL5n will show the status as not due/ overdue
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sharan

  • Relation between Portal User and ABAP user

    Hi All,
I have installed the SAP Netweaver 2004s with ABAP and JAVA environment.
I have the portal up and running on.
Now when i see the users form portal i can see both the UME and ABAP users.
    My questions are as follows:
a)Are this ABAP users shown in portal same as SAP R/3 user.
b)Which property of the ABAP users shown in portal mapped to R/3 user.
c)What is the query to see all the users in the Portal database for ABAP +  JAVA system
    Best Regards
    Manoj

    Hi Roy,
    As you said that
"All the properties you see in the portal are mapped to the ABAP side".
    My observation was as follows:
    A)
I created the Portal User(ABAP + JAVA) using the  UME API's.
    I set the setTilte("Mr") and setSalutation("Dr.) property.
The user got created .Innthe Portal we cannot notice the setTilte and setSalutation property so i used the SAP GUI to check it.
In the SAP GUI i could see the changes are reflected for Tilte and Academic Titlt.
    B)
Now i changed the property setSalutation to "MBA" and saved the user using the ABAP GUI.
Now i used the UME API to query the getTilte()  and getSAlutaion()
But unfortunately this changes  were not shown .
    Now i bit confused.
Whether this both(portal ABAP) and R/3 are stored in differnet database.
or it is that i have to restart the server to bring it in sync
    Best Regards
    Manoj

  • SSO between Portal and Java WD application

    Hi Experts,
I am using CE 7.2 on localhost and I am very new to SAP.
I need to know how can I get SSO between Portal and Java WD.  I have a WD application that displays the logged in user using "IUser currentUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser().getSAPUser()", as well I can use "IUser user = UMFactory.getAuthenticator().getLoggedInUser()".  Both work.
Q1. What is the difference in the 2 above?
Q2. My WD application is set to authenticate user.  The WD application is in URL iView.  I need SSO between Portal and WD application.   Is there a way to get this SSO without SAP Backend (ECC), for now I just need SSO between Portal and Java WD appl.
    Everything is in localhost.
    Please advice. Thanks.

    > need to know how can I get SSO between Portal and Java WD.
Then I suggest you ask your question in the Web Dynpro Java forum instead of the Web Dynpro ABAP one.

Looks to me (and I haven't been advised on changes) that this is a customer protection.  I don't know what the previous policy was, but this guarantees that if FiOS is no longer serviced in your area, you cannot be charged an early termination fee if there remains time left on your account.  It seems obvious that you wouldn't be he held responsible in such a case, but this is just putting it in writing.

  • Web Dynpro access Application Services directly?

We're looking at implementing some processes using Guide Procedures, and I have a question about design 'style'.
I'm creating a data layer using Entity Services.  The entity services will be utilized by the Application Services to create a business layer.  How to do this is clear, and straightforward.
However, where I have a question is how the automatically generated Web Dynpro application (or any other Web Dynpro application, for that matter) can interact with Application Services.  I've seen sample applications where the Web Dynpro application interacts with application services via mapping from the Web Dynpro interface layer through the GP Runtime - from my perspective, this looks like a good way to deal with a small amount of data being passed between the steps in the GP.
The primary Web Dynpro application will let the user interact with the data, massaging it until it's in a form where the next person needs to deal with it.  I was thinking of having the Web Dynpro application interact with the Application Services layer directly to move data from the database to the web dynpro application, and back again.  The only thing that would be passed between the steps in the GP would be the guid of the primary data structure.  I would also expose a method of the Application Service as a CO which would take the guid and return the entire business object, so viewing screens could be constructed - as well, PDF's could be generated, and so on.
Is this considered bad form in a GP, specifically accessing Application Services directly, instead of through a step in the GP?  I understand that what I want to do ties the Web Dynpro application directly to the Application Services layer, but my thinking is that the CO that encompasses the Web Dynpro should be 'atomic', in that all operations related to that specific step should be contained in a single CO.  In other words, the action of creating the business object, fiddling with it, an then submitting it upstream should be contained in one CO.
    Comments, suggestions?

    Hi,
In the Composite Application Framework scenario, you first create the Business Entities. These act as data holder. To fill the data within these entities the Application services are created. These application services are later exposed as a webservice and deployed.
These webservices can contain different methods along with the CRUD operations depending on the Process Flow and Design implemented. We can import the webservices as a model in the WebDynPro Component. The UI elements of the Views can be binded to the Model. So when we execute the model methods the data gets entered into the Business objects.
This WebDynPro component should be a callable object ( It requires some Dependencies to be added to the WebDynPro Component ). So that you can have Input/Output parameters and ResultStates. These parameters are useful if you have to pass some parameters from one view to other within the same component. So this WebDynPro Callable object includes the Application service calls and also the passing of data through the GP Input/Output Structures.
These callable objects are then included within the Process.
This is how I think a Composite Application must be designed.

  • Relation between BI AND BW

What is the relation between Business Intelligence and Business Warehousing? Are both one and the same or is there any difference? If so please let me know

    Hi Vinayak,
Below are some of the differences between BI and BW :
    1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
    2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
    3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
    4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
    5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
    6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.
SAP BW is now known formally as BI (part of NetWeaver 2004s). I am not sure if it is really being termed as BW 7.0 It implements the Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW). The new features/ Major differences include:
    1)Renamed ODS as DataStore.
2)Inclusion of Write-optmized DataStore which does not have any change log and the requests do need any activation
3)Unification of Transfer and Update rules
4)Introduction of "end routine" and "Expert Routine"
5)Push of XML data into BI system (into PSA) without Service API or Delta Queue
6)Intoduction of BI accelerator that significantly improves the performance.
7)Load through PSA has become a must. I am not too sure about this. It looks like we would not have the option to bypass the PSA during data load.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • ITunes quits when I see the "terms of service changes" screen

I recently added two music files to my cart at the iTunes music store. When I tried to purchase them, I clicked on "Buy Now" at the cart screen. After a few seconds, iTunes presented me with a screen which detailed new changes in the terms of service. I have never been able to fully read through this information, however, because iTunes quits less than three seconds after I see this "changes" screen. I cannot go further; I cannot purchase music. Switching to One-Click payments is not effective--I still have to see the screen to go further, and then the program quits. I have the most recent version of iTunes. I have completed all my software updates.
I have seen a few other people on this forum with similar problems, and they apparently have yet to find a solution. The following is the error log information in its entirety. I copied it down when I clicked on the option to send an error report to Apple.
Perhaps a knowledgeable user can decipher this code and tell me what is wrong, so that I can fix it.

Yoono. I uninstalled Yoono and the problem went away. However, it does seem like a nice application since it brings all your social networks together in a column on the left side of the screen that are active while you can be doing something else like searching the web or reading your e-mail. When I'm in e-mail however, I want a fuller screen and when I try to collapse the Yoono column, I get that warning message and it won't allow me to.

  • Error when trying to create a Composite Application Services project

    Hi Experts,
I am facing a problem while trying to create a project using NWDS 7.0 SP 13
New Development Component Project-> Composite  Application Services
then pressing finish, it throws an error as follows
"Generation can not completed due to one or more error"
    Reason :
    Errors occurred during code generation
    Warning :
    EAR-META-INF generation failed : null
Plz help me to solve this
    Thanks in advance,
    John

    Hi John,
It looks like there might be issue with CAF services related plugins. Check if there are any errors in log file under metadata folder of your workspace.Try deleting the metadata folder & restart the NWDS or start in a new workspace.
I feel if the issue persists, it is a bug & you can raise an OSS ticket.
    Kind Regards,
    Nitin

  • Relation between Shop id and Internet User in CRM

    Hi Guru's,
We are using SAP CRM 4.0. Can you please let me know in SAP CRM backend how can i find the shop id from the Internet User. We have created a BSP application and hosted in Portal. In the BSP application we want to determine the sales area from shop id. I can see shop id stored in database table 'CRMM_ISA_SHOP_H' and function module 'CRM_ISAI_SALES_AREA_GET' to get the sales area from the shop id. But i am not able to determine the shop id from the logged in Internet User. Can you help?
    Regards,
    Priyank

In your scenario, there is no relation between the Internet User and the Shop Id.
In the web (ISA), Shop ID is determined as follows:
    1. It is either given as a parameter in the URL so that the user doesn't have to select it or
    2. If there is only one Shop, then there is no need. The application defaults to that. or
    3. If there are more shops, then  the user is presented with a screen to make the selection.
You will have access to the Shop ID within the ISA Java-ABAP framework, but not in an independent BSP application such as yours. You have to make the user select the shop if there are multiple web shops.

  • The Service Component Container is not running" eventhough they are running

    Hi,
We are on 12.0.4 with hardware load balancer(cisco), and pcp has been configured between two Application nodes. The database is in the seperate node with OS Cluster.
I wanted to configure Workflow notification mailer. For that i have logedin through OAM workflow-->It is showing as
    Nitification mailer -unavailable
    Agent listener --     Down
    Service component --     Down
    Background Engine --     Down
    Purge --           UP
    Control queue cleanup -     Down
I have Navigate to Service component screen,
There all the Automatic component are showing status as stopped with error, I clicked the "workflow agent listener service" of container all the services are up and "state" is showing as "activated" Node it is showing as "Primary node of PCP"
But when you click on any "stopped with error" service to start, It is throughing " The Service Component Container is not running" when i click on "view log" it is not showing any message seems like hanging.
Before starting the Notification mailer configuration i wanted to rectify the above issue.
Can you pl help us out in rectify the same.
    Thanks and Regards

Check the log file from the server itself; it should be under ($APPLCSF/$APPLLOG/FNDCPGSC*.txt).

  • Relation between server's and runtime Data Model?

I am working on a project utilizing the MVC architecture.
After some doubts, I decided to create one DataModel class for each table of the server's normalized database and create the necessary relations at runtime and not in SQL prior to download.
The database is only a few MB and I need the flexibility.
I would appreciate some links to theoretical material regarding the relation between the runtime and the server's DB data model.
    Thanks,

    Hi Anirudh/Deepa,
As You said first I have created Outbound Connection Pool for DB adapter and given eis/DB/HRDBDataSource as JNDI name. It asked to save the file Plan.xml and i saved it in Oracle_soa1/Soa/Plan.xml
Next I created datasorce with JNDI name jdbc/HRDBDataSource and provided all credentials.
For AQ also i created connectionpool with JNDI name eis/AQ/MyAQ . Here also it asked to save the Plan.xml and Isaved it in Oracle_soa1/Soa/applications/Plan.xml
In Jdev while configuring AQ adapter I have selected the database [for this only i created connection pool and datasource] and given the JNDI Name as eis/AQ/MyAQ . (I tried with and without giving datasorce value jdbc/HRDBDataSource in AQ adapter )
Still I am getting the below error.
*Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'Enqueue' failed due to: JCA Binding Component connection issue. JCA Binding Component is unable to create an outbound JCA (CCI) connection. Queue:EnQueue [ Enqueue_ptt::Enqueue(EMP_MESSAGE_TYPE) ] : The JCA Binding Component was unable to establish an outbound JCA CCI connection due to the following issue: No suitable driver found for . ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution. No suitable driver found for 0*
    Please guide me
