Relative/Absolute Dashboard Catalog Object References
Is there a way to make all catalog object references on a dashboard relative to the location of the dashboard in the catalog? It appears that when a dashboard and its related catalog objects are moved within the catalog that the references on the dashboard get lost as if they are absolute.
Thanks!
"as if they are absolute"? They are absolute. Look at the XML and you'll see how dashbaords are actually built.

Also while try to edit the analysis (Net revenue per minute (ILD\/NLD) from catalog , i am getting the above error .The Reports were fine till yesterday , What could be the issue ?
ThanksHi Devarasu ,
Yeah .. I'm aware of this bug of 11.1.1.5 , but I'm puzzeled by the sudden impact of it . i.e , It didn't gave me the error while creating/editing the file yesterday and looked fine on dashboard as well .
However , If there's no alternative other than applying patch , then please let me know the patch ID .
And applying this patch means , just overwriting some configure files in the OBIEE home folder sructure ? or somthing else ?
Thanks -
Hello,
As you can tell from the title of this question, I am no expert with GPO's. Before I begin, I spent a few minutes to an hour searching and reading in hopes of finding the solution and avoid putting myself out there as a "GPO Newb". While
I found several posts and answers that were similar and were related, the questions and answers were more advanced and did present the solutions providing the person had initial knowledge already. That is not necessarily my case and I would ask for a
little patience and a bit of 'hand-holding' for what I need.
I run SBS 2011, and in Group Policy Management I have a custom GPO. In this GPO I define all my settings. I understand this may not be the best or most practical method of applying policies, but I am not very strict and have few settings. This
policy existed prior to my joining the company, and was migrated in to this SBS '11 from SBS '03. That may be the issue, but before making any changes I am seeking expert advice.
When I select that GPO, named "Main GPO", and click on the tab at the top "Settings" I see the error: "An error occurred while generating report: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I saw that when I right click the GPO > View > Options and select the tab "Reporting" that it states that for reporting to work the location of the .adm files must be specified. I see that my option for the location is set to "Default"
which by my guessing would be located in the C:\Windows\sysvol directory. Below is what I see there:
C:\Windows\sysvol\domain
C:\Windows\sysvol\staging
C:\Windows\sysvol\staging areas
C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol
I think the problem is that my custom GPO are not inside the default location, which I speculate is: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies (which I do see some objects there).
But instead I also see items in this folder: C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol\JOHN.LOCAL\policies (while where I just typed 'JOHN.LOCAL' is my actual local domain).
To further this, when I edit that custom GPO, then at the very top of the tree I right click on it and select Properties, I see a Unique Name listed there as a long string of numbers and letters, similar to a registry entry. I searched my server for
that same Unique Name and found it listed inside the folder: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies
If I am correct with my assumption and basic knowledge, I should move all objects as follows:
-Move FROM: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies
-Move TO: C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol\JOHN.LOCAL\policies
My concerns are that I am not correct at all, that I will break something, that there may be an easier fix than moving anything, or that I am overlooking something causing this error altogether.
Thank you for anyone's help and time with assisting me with this request.
John Fester> top "Settings" I see the error: "An error occurred while generating
> report: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
That's due to a security setting (most possibly) your current OS does
not understand. Hard to find out wich exact setting it is... To resolve
this issue, we need the gtpptmpl.inf file residing in the policiy's
sysvol folder. To open this folder, edit the policy, move to computer
settings - policies - windows settings - scripts - startup, press "show
files". Then move two folders upwards and back down to
.\microsoft\windows nt\secedit. There you'll see the gpttmpl.inf - post
its contents and we'll have a look at it.

That's perfectly ok - JOHN.LOCAL in fact is a symlink pointing to "domain".

> -Move FROM: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies
> -Move TO: C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol\JOHN.LOCAL\policies
No.

3. delete .compiles or refresh filesdelete temp files from asp.net temp files folder -- no .Compiled file. Deleted refresh files but no use
4. change temp file for appliation in compilation tag of web config -- No use
My application framework is .NET 4.5 and VSD 2012. I have tried to compile from C:\WINDOWS\Mi
crosoft.NET\Framework folder as well as C:\WINDOWS\Mi

JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
Any help would be appreciated (and rewarded of course).
Regards,
FreekI am experiencing just the same troubles.
Have you found a resolution?
What I can say, it must be related to .Net installation. Some of my colleagues run the same query and change the variable value without a problem. So this is not a server installation but a client one.
I have reintstalled sap gui, bex, .net , hotfixes - nothing helps. the clue I have, when installing patch GUI710_1-10002995.exe the installation reports an error:
Execute Install on Patch Not Available C:\WINDOWS\SapWksta\setup\SAPsetup.exe StrRemoveOldSapGui -2147467259
but it doesn't help much((

Can anyone throw any light on this obscure Flex error?...

I found a related bug reported on Jira: https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FLEXDMV-1631
But in our case, we have no zoom effect. It may be timing related, as there is a lot of computation going on when this page, and the ADG is first initialised.
Please?... Any suggestions or workarounds? We don't want this falling over in the hands of our customers.
<rant> And people wonder why I hate Flex!? These obscure instabilities never happen when I develop Pure ActionScript. The Flash platform is wonderfully stable. But as soon as you bring Flex into play, things take longer to develop, it's a struggle to extend or change the behaviour of the bloated components, and everything falls apart as these bugs begin to surface.</rant>facing the same problem... sdk 4.1. no solution for about 2 years ????

Catalog object privilege validation failed for user.
Hi,
I'm getting following error after adding the HTML tags in dashboard 11g.
How to set the privileges?..Kindly let me know.Thank you.
Error Massage:
Catalog object privilege validation failed for user to path /users/User1/_portal/page 1.
You do not currently have sufficient privileges to save a report or dashboard page that contains HTML markup. Dashboard contains custom HTML tags as part of static text.Hi User,
Go to Settings -> Administrators -> Manage Privileges -> 'Answers'
Here you can view - "Save Content with HTML Markup" next to it you will see 'Presentation Server Administrators'
Click it and Change for 'Everyone'
And, Save changes. Restart BI Services now you can add the contents and it will not popup any error messages.
Thank you.

Passing object references via methods
Why is the JFrame object not being created in the following code:
public class Main {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Main main = new Main();
JFrame frame = null;
main.createFrame(frame); // <-- does not create the "frame" object
frame.pack();
frame.setVisible(true);
private void createFrame(JFrame frame) {
frame = new JFrame("createFrame");
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
}Thanks.These explanations are great; real eye openers.
OK. This could be a "way out in left field" question. I am just starting out with Java. But I want to ask:
Objects are stored in the heap?
Object references and primitives are stored on the stack?
Adjusting heap size is straight-forward. A larger heap can store more/larger objects. What about stack sizes?
C:\Dev\java -Xss1024k Main
I assume this refers to method's stacks. But, what about object scoped, and class scoped, object references?
public class Main {
private static List list = new ArrayList(); // class scoped
private JFrame frame = new JFrame(); // object scoped
public static void main(String[] args) { ...... }
private void createFrame() { .... }
}How is the reference to list and frame stored, with regard to memory management?
Do objects have stacks?
Do classes have stacks?
If not, how are the list and frame references stored (which helps me understand reference scoping).
Would the overflow of a method stack (ex. via recurssion) also overflow the method's object and the method's class stacks?
If these questions are stupid, "out of left field", don't matter, etc. Just ignore them.
But the knowledge could help me avoid future memory related mistakes, and maybe pass a "Java Certified Developer" exam?
My original question is already answered, so thanks to all. -
Hi all,
i have two classes 'super' and 'sub'. 'sub' inherits from 'super'.
I have got a reference of type 'super' which points to an object of type 'sub'.
How can i cast the reference from 'super' to 'sub' without knowing the class 'sub'???
With RTTI i just got the name of class 'sub'....
thx in advance.
Regards,
MarkusHello Markus,
I think you cannot cast the second object reference, since you cannot define an object reference of the actual type of the subclass as target (because the type is not visible statically when it is defined in another program).
However, you can dynamically create an object of such a class by using its absolute type name:
CREATE OBJECT go_sub TYPE ('\FUNCTION-POOL=THE_FUNCTION_POOL\CLASS=THE_LOCAL_CLASS').
Afterwards, you can invoke methods dynamically:
CALL METHOD go_sub->('THE_METHOD').
Of course, the syntax checker cannot verify these method calls during design time. To ensure that a specified method is callable for a given object during runtime, you can use RTTI before doing the call.
As already discussed in this forum, it is not good practice to use local classes from other programs. They can have dependencies to their context (e.g. a global variable of the program where they are defined).
Hope this helps,

Create Object References for Key field
Hi Experts,
Question 1- Do we have any standard task that create BOR object reference using key field?
Question 2 - If not, i have created a task with key field as import parameter and BOR type as return object reference. No i am just using macro "SWC_CREATE_OBJECT OBJREF_ARD 'AssetRequestDocument' ASSETREQUESTID." where ASSETREQUESTID is key field. OBJREF_ARD is object ref type.
Problem comes here - Its not getting instantiated, i debugged an saw it checks for logical system in the FM OWN_LOGICAL_SYSTEM_GET, i guess since SWO_CREATE is remote enabled FM it is checking for OWN_LOGICAL_SYSTEM_GET function. In our system for the client there is no logical system defined and i dont have any idea how to customize table T000 for logical system.
Note - There is nothing related to communication between two system.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in Advance,
Pritam KunalHello,
It's a method. You make a task which calls that method and passes in the BOR type and its key.
It instantiates an instance of the BOR and passes it back out.
So, no, it's not a generic BOR!

Object Reference / Data Connection Error may be due to web.config
i am just a beginner in webpart and facing error in my webpart when connecting to database,
error is: object reference not set to an instance of an object.
troubleshooting tips is
check to determine if the object is null before calling the method
error occur on this line:
SqlDataAdapter dba = new SqlDataAdapter(QryString, ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["QString"].ConnectionString);
where QString is reference to my web.config file which contains
<connectionStrings>
<add name="QString" connectionString="Data Source=(local)\SP2013;Initial Catalog=SPUserAuthWP;Integrated Security=True;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>
</connectionStrings>
As in webpart solution explorer, web.config not automaticaly add so i add it maunally.
kindly guide how to overcome this problemHello,
Just find "</SharePoint>" web.config and paste below tag just below of "</SharePoint>". You also need to pass userId, password and DB server name/IP in below connection string.
</SharePoint>
<connectionStrings>
<add connectionString="user id=username; password=password; Data Source=your DB server name;Initial Catalog=SPUserAuthWP" name="QString" />
</connectionStrings>
Then use below code:
string strcon = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["QString"];
using (SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(strcon))
{//your code goes here}

Hi,
Welcome to MSDN.
As Cor suggested, it needs to wait to get that data.
If any suggestion helpful, you could mark it as answer.
But in addition, issues related to calling api to third-party are not supported, I would suggest you consider connecting with its publisher to get supports.
Thanks for your understanding.

I am working on a standalone install Sharepoint 2013 (no Active Directory). I found newsfeed feature is not available and checked Distributed Cache service is stopped. When start it “cacheHostInfo is null” is returned.
I checked the Windows service “AppFabric caching service” is stopped because the default identity “Network Service” not work. Then I change the AppFabric service identity to use “.\administrator” (which is also the sp farm administrator) and the service can
be started.
However the “cacheHostInfo is null” when try to start Distributed Cache service in central admin.
I searched on web and found this blog: http://rakatechblog.wordpress.com/2013/02/04/sharepoint-2013-spdistributedcacheserviceinstance-cachehostinfo-is-null/
I tried to run the script but it return error:
