Relative cost of Infinity and Option 3

I've been back with BT for 4 months now, and am decidedly regretting the decision. The actual disaster of a process of getting connected in the first place notwithstanding...initial delivery of equipment went missing and it took 3 weeks and countless calls to get replacements...initial estimates of when FTTC would be available for my address have proved to be pie in the sky. I was told that it would be available at the end of January (this after being told months ago that it would be Sept 2012), looks now like being 'never'.
Fair enough, too much trouble to wire my block of flats, but why does it cost as much for my 6Mb connection as my friend's (who lives 200 yds away) 75Mb fibre optic connection? I'm not particularly happy that up until a couple of weeks ago this connection was a steady 7.5Mb either, with no apparent reason for this drop.
I feel I'm being ripped off to subsidise those getting hugely superior speeds.

Comparing prices with other customers is not that straightfoward in these days of package deals. Once a minimum period contract is up, it's very often possible to negotiate a special price in return for agreeing a further minimum period. There's not much science in it, and the price you get will depend on who you ask, what's on offer at the time, whether BT want to push any particular service, how long you're prepared to commit for, your negotiating skills, and I daresay where the moon happens to be in relation to Jupiter. Apart from that, BT do not price according to the bandwidth achieved, and I think the same applies to all the major providers. So it's really down to what you can get and whether you are willing to go elsewhere.

  • BT Infinity and 21CN related?

    Hi all,
Our local exchange was updated to 21CN earlier this year, and I was originally told (by BT) that after a possible hour of down-time, my connection speed should go to the maximum supported speed. I had to call BT to find this information out, there wasn't any communication to say the exhange was being updated or there'd be a change in connection speed.
A couple of days ago, we had some marketing through the post about BT Infinity and the super-fast broadband speeds of upto 40mb.
I called BT to ask if we could be upgraded to Infinity, but was told it's not available till March 2012.
I was wondering, if the exchange was updated back in March/April this year, why cant I make use of the 21CN until next year? If I go onto BT's site to sign up as a new customer, it shows 12mb - 20mb as a possible connection speed (currently connecting at just over 8mb, and always have done since broadband was available). Other ISP's show the same possible connection speed.
I did think it could be the router, but I'm still using the HomeHub (v2) and the exchange is about 5min walk from the house.

Try entering your telephone number (for most accurate result) into https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
To confirm the estimate the line could achieve.
If your on ADSL go into your router stats and look for the connection type
I was on the basic ADSL upto 8Mb (G.992.1) I contacted BT See THIS THREAD.
They put me onG.992.3 (ADSL2) with the hope the exchange would after a period of "training" then automatically move me toG.992.5 (ADSL2+).
However in my case due the long line length the change to ADSL2 did not increase my speed.... and therefore the exchange did not automatically move me up any further.
If the Checker shows you could achieve the 20Mb speeds then you could try as I did and ask the forum mods if they can get you changed up.
Infinity (Fibre service) is not related to 21CN.
SamKnows for example or BT Openreach may show your exchange now has infinity but the important thing is your Primary Connect Point (small local green cabinet) has to have a larger cabinet installed next to/nearby and yours looks  to be scheduled to be Ready For Service in a few months time.
Keep using the checkers.... Mine was showing 30th Sept then on the 1st July Infinity became available.... but be aware it can go the other way... especially if the bloomin' snow arrives.
Picture of a small green cabinet (far right) with a typical Fibre Cabinet nearby with it's cooling vents
When the new Fibre cab is powered up you can easily hear the fans running, indicating that it may be Ready For Service or soon to be.

  • Relation between STD Price and Costing

    Hi,
Could anyone explain about the relation between STD Price and Costing & when and where it gets effected.
    Points will be rewarded.
    Regards

    Hi ,
    Std. Price :-
A constant price at which a material is valuated without taking goods movements and invoices into account.
    Costing:-
The value of use of economic goods both tangible and intangible for the creation and sale of goods and services, as well as the acquisition and maintenance of plant and machinery.
A process that calculates the cost of goods manufactured, or the cost of goods sold, in relation to a product or cost object.
The results of costing are used to determine the following information:
    Target costs
    Variances for materials produced
    Contribution margin for materials sold
The costing process is based on the order quantity or the costing lot size in the material master record.

  • BT Infinity and online gaming - has BT changed tra...

We use our internet a great deal for online gaming and a few months ago on our old ISP games started to become unplayable due to extremely slow response times. After a great deal of investigation I discovered the reason for this...
Some ISPs examine the sort of data being transferred and when they think the data is Peer-To-Peer traffic they place this in a low-priority queue.  Historically, most people didn't care as 99% of P2P traffic was illegal file-sharing.
BUT, online games are increasingly making use of data packet formats that 'look' like P2P traffic.  The gaming data is incorrectly identified as being P2P file-sharing and placed in a low priority queue.  This makes online gaming, where responses need to be made in fractions of seconds impossible - you often just stand still for 5 seconds while the rest of the world moves on.
This is what happened with our old ISP and why we looked around for a new provider. Infinity recently came to our area and while browsing the Infinity information on the BT site I was asked if I wanted to speak to a customer service rep.  I wasn't expecting a very helpful discussion, but figured it couldn't do any harm to ask a very specific question:  "Do you perform traffic-shaping on P2P traffic?" -  the rep went away to find out and then responded "BT never shape P2P traffic".  (I have screenshots of this conversation as it formed the basis of my decision to subscribe to Infinity).
Flash forward a month.  We have Infinity and have been very pleased with it ..until tonight when the same problems started again.
Several speed-test sites report pings about 20ms, download speeds of 30-40mpbs  - all very nice, same it has been for the past month.
BUT, tonight all online gaming has ground to a halt.
Typical pings reported in games like World of Warcraft have gone from 50-100ms to about 3000-5000s.
Online chatter is FULL of people asking if anyone else is having problems; and yes, the ones I've spoken to are all on BT.
    So -
Have BT changed their policy ?
Are they now aggressively shaping traffic it thinks is P2P-related ?
Are the problems tonight related to a temporary glitch or a permanent change in policy ?
I'd really like to know as I've still got proof of BT's answer to a direct and specific question about this sort of policy and if it's changed will need to change ISPs and reclaim setup costs.
Any information from anyone who knows about this would be most welcome.

    Hi ge1971,
Welcome to the forums I'm sorry to hear of the problems you're having. I've posted an update on this issue here, so if you could keep an eye on that thread hopefully I'll have more info soon.

  • Difference between BT infinity and BT total broadb...

Currently, I have BT total broadband (the unlimited package) including the phone package etc @ £56 per month.
I live in the UK and I've heard about BT infinity.
I find my download speed and upload speed often lacking compared to other people's and I'm curious, would it cost me anything extra to upgrade to BT infinity?
I've checked that I'm eligible and option 2 (of infinity) is the exact same price with no apparent catch or extra cost.
Can I just upgrade the broadband and keep my phoneline?
    Is it worth it?
    Are there any drawbacks?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you have Total Broadband Option 3 this is the same price as Infinity 2 which is Up to 76 down and 19 up (80/20, really).
The difference between the two is the technology and the way that you recieve it, Total broadband Is ADSL Technology where as Infinity is VDSL.
The way that broadband is delievered to your house (ADSL) is followed.
Exchange > Copper cable > Cabinet > Copper Cable > Your property. (ADSL)
The way the Infinity is delievered is the exact same process but with different material such as.
Exchange > Fibre cable > Cabinet > Copper > Your property (VDSL also known as FTTC - Fibre to the cabinet)
You also have FTTP which is exactly ADSL but is Fibre all the way to home instead of copper cable.
Hope this helps, I would recommend you upgrade as the speeds you will get will be a lot better than they're on ADSL.

  • Cost of Infinity 2

Has cost of Infinity 2 gone up?
I was paying £26 plus £7 for unlimited calls.
Cost this month is £27.67 plus £7
They are also charging for caller display at £1.75 after I rang up and cancelled it before Christmas.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Contacted them on LiveAssistance, so I have full transcript.
First response: I can see that the caller display is still activated in the telephone
Strange as far as I know have no phone that is caller display.
Then they said they would turn it off. I asked for a full refund - so I will have to check next bill.

  • Claim Creation, capture of cost against WBS and Payment to Vendor.

    Hi,
    My Scenario is as follow-
I have a customer which is afftected by my project. He is affected and the has carried some work on his own to restore the things which are affected due to my project.
Now he is claiming that amount from my company and after accessing, we realise that that is a real damage and we need to pay to the customer.
Hence i am trying to map it in SAP as follow-
I am Creating a claim with cost and assigning a WBS element to it. Now the cost of the claim is not getting reflecting anywhere at WBS element. I am aware about the BADI - NOTIF_COST_CUS_CHECK.
I have not activated this BADI but the description says that when activated, it should create an internal order when i save the claim. Now i want to know what are the effect of cost of claim on WBS (Will it be displayed as planned or actual cost on WBS and is there any relation with the status of claim?)
The other question is that if i am creating this claim as a claim of customer to whom i need to pay certain amount, how WBS and internal order will help me in executing the payment to customer?
    Waiting for advice please.
    Thanks

  • Infinity and Anywhere

I recently ordered Infinity but a nice Irish lady rang to say that Infinity is not compatible with Broadband Anywhere. When I said that that I found that difficult to understand she commented that the issue is with BT's billing system.
When will this be sorted out?

    Dear BT,
I'm also very keen to find out about this. Just had a lovely leaflet through from you telling me I can now get Infinity (and at less than Anywhere package), but I come on here only to find there's some non-technical "compatability" issue with my totally unrelated mobile phone.
Seriously BT sort yourselves out, because as soon as another company gets even close to your high uptime levels we'll all be off.
Look I'll tell you what, let me switch to Infinity and charge me a monthly fee for my continued phone use on top - that's fair, yes?
I'm very brand-loyal and a top of the range product user, I've had BTBBA, or Option 3, or whatever previosuly for nearly 10 years. I have BTvision. I want to spend money on a good new product: so stop trying to p*$$ me off and make me take my business and my wallet elsewhere.
Yours looking forward to this issue being resolved very shortly...

  • Overview report cost estimate (fix and variable)

    Hello
anybody knows a overview report  where i can see for the current valid cost estimates
    per material
costs splitt between fix and variable costs
Alternatively it would be sufficient if this is just shown for a costing run
In CK40N and all other reports i know i have the complete costs but to see details an extra click to the between fix and variable costs is needed and i can not extract to excel.
Or is the only option an query on KEKO,KEPH, CKIS?

    Hello
@Sachin: Thanks for the report but the output is not that good - but helpful

  • CJV4, WBS simulation version cost in COSS and COSP by cost element

    Hi PS expert.  (-:
IN PS When we freeze a simulation version with CJV4,  (operative data to version), sap will create new object number in table VSCAUFV_CN for each network and VSPRPS_CN for each Wbs element related to the simulation Version.
In our environment, SAP will add record in COSS and COSP for the new object number for Network but NOT FOR THE WBS.
Is it standard to NOT record the cost in COSS and COSP for the simulation cost of the WBS (against the new object number?)
That mean we will able to see the simulation cost by cost element for network, but NOT FOR WBS element.
For the WBS, we only record the cost in RPSCO by cost category.
Is there a way to active (with an exit ..classu2026bapi) the recording of the cost of the WBS by simulation version in COSS and COSP
Thanks you very much for your help

  • Cost Center and Cost Element Hierarchy and Actual Cost Center

In Bex - Right now I am displaying Cost Center and Cost Element hierarchy with 12 months of data. I want to display the actual Cost center number next to cost element hierarchy - Can I display in Bex?
Tried to with Structure creating formula variable for Cost Center using replacement path - didn't work. Can you please suggest me how i can achieve this?
    The format should be
CostCenter H1   CostElement H1   CostCenter   Jan  Feb ...
Thanks in advance and appreciate for any help...

Let me explain it clearly and hope it is clear now...
Designed the report as like this - Cost Center Hierarchy by Cost Element Hierarchy for 12 months of data. But Business agian search in R/3 for actual cost center numbers based on above two hierarchy nodes.
I am trying to achieve this Bex instead of going back to R/3 - so that they can understand how the dollar amount is summed up on which major cost centers.
If I remove the hierarchy on Cost Center - it will display all the cost centers. They want to see the Cost center numbers based on CC and CE hierarchy node so that you are displaying only those cost centers. That's the reason I am trying to design the  report with CC Hier, CE hier, Cost Center number and 12 months of data.
In my data model - have only one Cost Center, if i can create another ZCOSTCENTER same as 0COSTCENTER - May be I can achieve this. still looking for options with out changing the design.

  • Dimensional model design for multiple relations btween a fact and dimension

    Hi,
I'm new here, sorry if I ask dummy questions.
I need to develop a dimensional datamodel to create some reports. The initial model has a transaction table. A transaction can be related to one or more customers, because of that the there is a customer_id column, but it can contains more id's, separated by commas. The customer table is standard : id/ name/etc.
I need to create a report (I'm using OBI 10g if this is relevant) to show all the transactions related to a customer (prompt) and the report must contain the some transaction details, the id's of all customers related to that transaction and their names.
For example, if I have a transaction with tranz_name = 'transaction_name' and customer_id = '1,2,3' and I need to select all the transactions related to customer 1, I need to show in the report :
    'transaction_name' , '1,2,3' , 'Customer_1, Customer2, Customer_3'.
How can I design the dimensional datamodel to have support for this report? I was thinking to create an additional "cust_id" column in the fact table and for the above transaction to load 3 records in the fact table, by filling the cust_id with only one id (the PK of the fact table will be transaction_id + cust_id). But I have 2 problems :
    a) How can I create the "CustomerNames" column in the report?
    b) How can I select unique transactions if "all customers" is selected in the prompt?
Thanks in advance for your help

Are you using the OLAP Option in the database to define your report? If so, which version of the database do you have? If not, you may get a better response from an OBI specific forum such as "Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition"

  • What is the advantages of CPI, compactCPI, and PXI, in requards to cost, future support, and avialibity of measurement cards.

We are currently supporting old stand alone test equipment that is coming to the limit of it's service life. We are operating under DOS and the current number of test are greater that 200, so changing to a complete new operating system is not an option. We are looking at CPI, cCPI, and PXI. It appears that any one of the three would work for us, but which would have the largest selection of measuremnet devices, lowest cost, and long term support? I will have to create a interface driver that will intercept the GPIB calls of the old software and port them to the new test equipment, which of the three would be the best for this. Th

    mww-
As far as National Instruments is concerned, there isn't going to be much (if any) support under DOS for our PCI, cPCI, and PXI products. PCI and PXI (which is basically an extension of cPCI) are currently our primary platforms, and they will be supported well into the future under current operating systems like Windows 2000.
As far as cost goes, PCI and PXI are pretty comparable in most cases. You can get exact prices for different National Instruments' modules at http://www.ni.com/store
