Relaunching a completed course in Captivate 5.5 - endless "Loading"

I recently upgraded to 5.5. I've created a course in 5.5 which included a quiz and a seperate final exam and placed it on our LMS. All is working fine except that when a user successfully completes the requirement (course + final) and tries to re-open the course later they get stuck in this endless loop showing a loading animation. The course never loads. In another forum I found this issue first came up with Captivate 5, but was allegedly addressed in 5.5. The suggested fix was to remove any quiz slides from the course and force a "republish all slides" . I've done this. I've also cleared my cache and tried using Firefox (instead of IE8.) I now have several learners trying to revisit the course who are unable to acces the content. The LMS folks won't address this as it is a"known Captivate issue" and I agree with them as it is documented. Question: Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause and the fix? I am up a tree here - HELP. Thanks is advance. FYI: swearing at it has not helped...yet.

I think I figured out a solution. 1. Elimated all quiz questions from within the presentation. (I substiuted my own questions instead of using the Captivate templates.) 2. Changed th LMS customiziation settings within Captivate by clicking on "Never send resume data". 3. Forced a republish all slides when publisshing the project and zipping it. 4. In the LM course settings, when asked what to set "reopen the project in the review mode" - I select NO.
It has been tested on our LMS and seems to work. Not sure if all steps are necessary but these seem to work. Good enough for me.

Captivate 5.5 Endless Loading Screen

Does anyone know what would cause the Loading Screen to run endlessly and not start a Captivate 5.5 module. It is unusual because the first couple times the module downloads and plays fine, then after a few viewings this Endless Loading Screen problem appears.

This is a known issue with some LMSs and Captivate's Resume Data bookmarking.
Go to LMS Customisation settings and tick the box for Never Send Resume Data. That usually fixes it, but it also means you cannot use LMS bookmarking.

Complete course

I have enough experience with Captivate 8. I want to build a complete course (preferably with some Mathematics) for undergraduates.
I expect this to take up to a year.
Before I commit myself to such a task I would like to know if there is any such course written with Captivate.
Complete means that this software course can be used as a substitute of a teacher. It must cover all material (like a course)
and teach the student .
If anybody knows such a program, I will appreciate it if he let me know it.

I know that you are an expert on Captivate and eLearning, but I disagree completely with your answer.
Certainly, a good teacher cannot be substituted by a computer course. That is obvious, but what about the cost? Do you realize that (at college level) a computer course for a year will cost as much as a teacher for one day? Do you realize that many people do not go to a university because they cannot afford it?
Up to now, I think there is no such complete course, but we can build one. Look at a first-year curriculum of a university and will see some basic courses that can be used as prototypes. Certainly, the first attempt will not succeed, but experience will show the way.
I am trying to build such a course on Calculus. I have written the five chapters out of eight. I will let you know, if I have your email.

i feel very concerned, because the work it's hard

I was able to resolve this without support. I identified the slide where the course stopped playing and the ppt from which the slide background was located. Even though the ppt deck in the Captivate library showed that the ppt was to date, I updated the ppt anyway and that resolved the issue.
The course would stop playing at the same slide, and didn't allow me to advance to any slides beyond that slide using the TOC, I simply got a blank gray screen, refreshing the course in the browser caused the course to start over from the beginning and it would stop at the same slide. Refreshing the ppt allows the course to play through and the TOC now allows navigation.

Dropped laptop and now it won't load completely after turning it on. Only loads half way and stays there. What can I do to fix it?

My Friend dropped my laptop form about 4 ft. It was working but after I turned it off and tried to turn it back on it wont load completely when it sign in. It loads half way and stays there, I can only use safari through the guest section. What can I do to fix?

Adobe Captivate 5 Not Opening - Loading Screen Freezes

Hello - I just installed eLearning Suite 2 and cannot open Adobe Captivate on a Windows 7 machine.All other eLearning Suite 2 programs launch and run, but Captivate freezes on the "Loading..." screen at open and will not proceed any further.
I have previously used Captivate 4 with no errors. I meet the system requirements and have plenty of open disk space.
I have tried running as admin, restarting my machine, disconnecting from my work network at startup and clearing the user preferences. None of those helped.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Captivate 8 suddenly stopped loading

So I had been using captivate for a few weeks, then took a break for about 2 weeks. I came back to find that Captivate now won't load, EVER. I'm on a PC running windows 7, with Captivate 8 (64 bit) and Adobe CC. The intro splash screen (green with the extrudes squares) appears and says "Loading...." but it will stay there indefinitely.
When I check the Task Manager to see if it's frozen, it doesn't show up in the list of applications. Under processes it shows AdobeCaptivate.exe using 08 CPU and 258,728 K Memory, with AdobeCaptivateWS.exe *32 using 00 CPU and 4,204 K Memory.
We've tried deleting preferences, uninstalling reinstalling (multiple times) and can never get the software to load. It's the only piece of software acting up, and nothing has physically happened to the PC tower, so we're at a loss.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to get this working again, or has run into similar issues?

Fonts has been used by many applications and it seems that the issue was due to some corrupt fonts.
You can try to copy and paste few fonts first to its original location in C drive and then launch Captivate , if everything works fine then follow the same way again and copy few more fonts to its original location by which you can find out the corrupt fonts.

Added try it activity.. unable to track the course in Captivate 8?

Hi, I am using Captivate 8 version, I am tracking my course via Slide count. I have try it activity in my course. I am facing the following issues in tracking the course completion.
If the learner answers the try it correctly in the first attempt itself- the slides for try again is skipped, hence those pages are not tracked and completion is not marked.
If I try reducing the slide number in Quizzing->Reporting->Slide Views, there is chance that the completion will be marked well before the learner completing the entire course.
Is there a workaround where we can enter the slide numbers which alone can be tracked for completion?
Note-we are not having any quiz elements.

As per our requirement, we have designed the course in such way that a try it activity will be introduced in the middle of the course, where the learner have to perform few steps.
If they perform in correct sequence, he will be promoted to do next set of steps /actions. However, if he/she fails to do so, guidance will be provided with feedback.
Yes, for each single step of action of an application, we have duplicated the slides for try again' as Incorrect, incorrect try again and correct step of action.
If the learner answers the 'try it' correctly in the first attempt itself- the slides for try again is skipped, hence those pages are not tracked and completion is not marked in LMS.
So, need your suggestion and support for this case.

Can anyone help me, I am trying to create courses using Captivate for Udemy, but even after saving the courses as pdf files, Udemy will not reconize them. NOw I am back to square one because according to Udemy techs, they do not support Captivate files.

Yep, you lose all interactivity when publishing to video.
Udemy, Lynda.com, Total Training and other similar models are based on simple "watch the video to learn" type of consumption. The only real interactivity you get is an ability to pause, rewind, fast forward. Basically anything you can do with a video.

Preventing learners enrolling a second time on a completed course

Hi
We have a popular course that some learners seem to want to enrol on and complete multiple times. Is there any way of preventing this?
Ideally I want to set a prequisite that the learner has not completed the course. There are too many learners to use the learner access option and I cannot use organisation, job or position as there are no rules that I can apply.

Adobe Captivate 3 does not load

After installing Captivate 3 and using it successfully for a
week. All of a sudden the program will not open. It gets stuck at
the "Copying First Run Files" then the splash screen disappears.
How can I solve this? I am completely lost and out of ideas.

You might need to reset the Captivate Settings file. (I call
this "Whacking Captivate upside the head").
To reset the settings file:
Ensure Captivate is closed.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following location:
?:\Documents and Settings\????\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate
Note that ? represents the drive letter you are using and
???? represents your logged in user name.
Rename or delete the file named
captivate_v30.dat
Restart Captivate and hopefully things will be improved.

Captivate 6/HTML5 URL loading but Captivate page drops to a 404

Hi All!
I"m sure this is something simple, but I just can't seem to figure what's going on. I have a Captivate 6 project (http://cs.franklin.edu/~heinem01) that has several slides linking out to HTML5/jQuery pages for some interactivity. I have advanced actions set up on the slide before for text box advancement, then the last step I have it coded to open the URL in a new window, and also advance to the next slide (so when the user clicks on the close link on the html5/jquery page, it will take them back to the captivate screen and they can continue on). The new page is coming up fine, but the captivate project is droping to a 404 instead of just going to the next slide . What am I missing? I'm not sure if I'm missing a step in my advanced action or if I've got something stuck in the captivate file to cause this. Any insights would be appreciated!

Thanks for the heads up! I did have one that had a bad link but removed it. Even after a force republish of all slides, the information for the old link appears to be sticking. I'll go try recreating/ hand typing in my links instead of copy/pasting and see if that works!

**Edit ** not sure which thing did it, but I deleted/readded the links in the advanced actions, typed the links by hand, as well as cleared my browser cache, and completely replaced my project on the webserver instead of just overwritting it (deleted files/folders on server and grabbed the most recently published and SFTP'd it out)

How do you create a Browser cookie in Captivate to save and load a set of variables?

Using the below tutorial I am trying to set a cookie that remembers the menu of sections that have been viewed when the browser reopens. Basically sets and loads 6 variables with a cookie. But it's not working and I can't find the JavaScript to debug in Chrome. Alternately does anyone know of a better tutorial for setting cookies in Captivate then this post?

Thanks for replying. The variables define a number of states within the training. Mostly a main menu showing modules completed or not and also defining areas as locked or unlocked. So it's more then a text caption. I'd like a button on the intro/splash screen that when clicked loads about 6 variable as 0 or 1 from the cookie. Then the user would continue to the training with all the variables loaded.

What would make my Cp7 course get hung up during the loading process when launching on LMS?

In Cp7, I created a SCORM project to post on our LMS and submitted it for testing. Our LMS department confirmed it worked successfully, and in fact I tested it myself – it worked great. However, my work team asked me to make some changes to the content before pushing it out of the testing phase to launch company-wide. Per company policy, making changes to a course means resubmitting it once more to be tested before making it available to everybody. So I made the requested changes and resubmitted it for testing. Now our LMS department reports the course will not launch properly – it gets stuck in the loading process. It shows “Loading...” endlessly but never loads.
When I submitted the updated version for testing, I kept all the project settings that worked successfully the first time. The changes I made to the project were:
I added a slide toward the beginning (slide 2) to give the user navigation tips.
I set slides so that each one must play all the way through before the user can proceed to the next slide (I think I did this simply by removing “play” on the playbar”).
Under table of contents settings, I checked “navigate visited slides only,” so the user can navigate backwards using the contents bar at left, but can only navigate forward to slides that have already played or to the next slide in the queue.
I broke up a couple of lengthy multiple choice questions into shorter ones (for an additional two slides).
Is there any reason one of these changes would make the course get hung up during loading?
Is there a size limit Cp7 projects which, if exceeded, might be causing such an issue?
Or does anyone have ideas about what else might be making it get hung up in the loading process?

you Depress the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - anyplace you can launch iPhoto you do this - keep the keys down until you get the rebuild window
