Release DP CBF to PPDS
Hi Guru,
We are implementing DP CBF and also PPDS using IPPE. My question is How is release from DP to PPDS as we are using IPPE for PPDS. Process is completely MTS scenarios
1. Is there standard release from DP to PPDS even with varients?
2. How forecast with variant characteristic will be read by PPDS with varient characteristics?
Please it will be really great help.
Thanks & Regards,
Raj Kumar
Hi,
The reply given above is correct, the transaction is the same for release from DP to SNP/PPDS.
However, in case of CBF, you have to make use of the u201CExtended u201C field in the release transaction.
You must enter a consumption group (see Descriptive Characteristics). Otherwise the descriptive characteristics are not transferred to the order liveCache. The descriptive characteristics are then attached to the resulting planned independent requirements.
You can also specify whether forecasts are generated in the order LiveCache for all values of the descriptive characteristics or just for specified values.

Release of demand to PPDS directly skiping SNP
Dear Experts ,
I am planning to use demand planning and PPDS
I created a demand plan and i want to send directly to PPDS , but there is not any tcode to sent demand directly to PPDS like
Release to SNP like MC90
Please advise
Thanks & Regards
RajHi Raj,
Same Transaction /sapapo/mc90 should be use to release demand to PPDS as well. You have specify relevant category like FA or FC. This will get recognized by PPDS.
Best regards,

Hi SCM Guru,
We are small organization and we are implementing DP and PPDS without SNP.
Is it possible to release DP directly to PPDS?
Thanks in advance,
JayHi Jay,
The Planning area 9ASNP02 controls both SNP & PPDS.
So, you can release your DP results into PPDS
But you need to ensure that the key figure, planning
bucket profile, planning area are selected as per PPDS
basis and do the release.
Your master data set up also to be aligned as per PPDS
requirements (say like resources, capacities etc.,)

Alternate Source Determination u0096 PPDS
Dear All ,
System
Working on SCM Release: 5.0 . PPDS .
Background Master data settings
We Have Created two alternate PPMs namely P and Q for product A and product B. First PPM P has priority 0 and PPM Q has priority 1. PPM P has resource X and PPM Q has resource Y. Strategy profile is for find slot and resources are finite scheduled.
Transactional process and observation
When I performed a planning run the system created a planned order for Product A the system by default took up the first PPM P and booked resource X, when we created the second planned order for product B same date and time it still used the first PPM P and over loaded the resource X instead of finitely scheduling it.
Our query
Why is the system not able to perform simultaneous material capacity planning?? Why is the system not able to recognize that the capacity of resource X is consumed and therefore shift to resource Y using PPM Q??
Request you to review the above scenario and support .
Thanks and Regards ,
Prashant KumarHello Prashant
You could use alternate modes instead of alternate PPMs and that the alternate mode is selected on overloading of the primary resource.
I have tried it in SNP scenario once.
You could also try the wave heuristics. This will plan the preferred resources first and then fill in the alternative resources for each product.
(/SAPAPO/REM_HEUR_WAVE)
The heuristic does the planning in 3 steps. A backward wave scheduling, followed by a forward wave scheduling and the finite scheduling for the remaining lots which can not be planned due to capacity constraints to the end of the period.
Hope you are able to resolve your situation with this heuristic.

Dear Experts in CBF forecasting there is the following documentation,
PP/DS creates planned independent requirements at configured product level. The demand for individual characteristic values/combinations is not transferred initially. When the PDS is exploded, the system determines the dependent demand for the components by referring to the demand plan for the characteristic values/combinations. It creates dependent requirements for the components in PP/DS, which can be converted to production orders or purchase requisitions
My question is as follows:-
1. In my investigation, the expectation is that I would not have any BOM's the forecast is for a car, of colour black and engine size 2.0 ltr. Can I create a requisition to match this combination or would the requisition be for a car only. Apologies the simplified supply chain is that I generate forecast for a car, however send the basic supply plan to the vendor (my supplier).
PaulRishi,
some background, the limitations are within the project, currently the manufacturer will remain on a legacy system, however the requirement is to provide the following:-
1. Capture the sales forecast from various distribution points (car dealers), this is for a car model and body type let's say
2. convert this to a requirements forecast, hence if the leadtime for manufacture is 4 weeks, your requirements forecast is date - weeks, reflecting current stock and any production profiling such as number of days cover. Send this to the supplier.
3. receive back from the supplier/manufacturer an agreed manufacturing plan indicating what can be produced by month, same level as above
4. Diaggregate and then add more characteristics to the demand, which would be things such as engine size, alloy wheels etc
5. Eventually release this demand to PPDS and generate purchase requisitions, the expectation is that the requisitions will mirror the PIR which has any and all the characteristics added via the demand planning process.
6. Send this purchase requisition to the supplier to confirm the request and who will receive the car when built.
Appreciate any feedback you have on this? although not a typical approach, the project scope is determining the fact that production planning is outside our scope. Hence only using PPDS to generate the requisitions as a means to confirm a proposed production plan.
Cheers

For this issue Is there any solution in Standard solution or any Developmet
Hello Friends,
I have one issue that is
When ever the forecast is release from DP to PPDS (Monthly - days) of a material quantities should be bucketed into Monthly bucketed quantities and split into day level ( e.g: Product1 1st week 1000ton, 3rd week 2000ton , when it releases system aggregates the quantities and depending upon the product profile and setup time it shold give me result as product1 -3000ton in day 1 and product2 --2000ton on day 2 ...so on) .Standard SAP APO release of Monthly forecast quantity to daily bucket is divided into 30 or 31 days and split the quantities equally( e.g: Product1 1st week 1000ton, 3rd week 2000ton , when it releases system aggregates the quantities and divides in 30 days in a month and split the quantities equally).
For this issue Is there any solution in Standard SAP or any Developmet is required in APO-DP.
Pl Through me some lights on me .
Regards,
sivaram76.Hi
If you are using u201C/SAPAPO/MC90 for releasing the FCST , I think you can define different Planning Buckets Profiles according your requirement for example according your needs for disaggregation of your FCST. A planning buckets profile contains the periodicities or a subset of the periodicities that you defined in the storage buckets profile.
Once you maintain the planning bucket profile you can put it in tab Daily Buckets Profile while releasing the FCST.
It will be nice if you please cross check it its meet you requirement.
Thanks

Is possible forecast from DP to PPDS w characteristic use with CDP block?
We have set up a test scenario with CDP (Characteristic Dependant Planning) setting to utilize Block Planning and I want to send the demand quantities from DP to PPDS, in a way that the characteristic sent with the Demand Plan (eg Product, Location and Colour = Red) will then match the block when creating the PPDS order (eg Block = Colour Red)
I have tried 2 methods so far which have not worked, and I am wanting to find out if it is possible to send demand planning volumes to use with PPDS CDP Blocks?
Following the process outlined in these areas
Planning with Characteristics
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/en/fa/e943401a306f13e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
PPDS and planning with characteristics
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/en/a2/90b83b06855a4ae10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
Cannot use CBF and CDP together on the one client
I have tried these 2 methods.
1. Setting up CBF (Characteristic Based Forecasting) in DP and trying to send these to PPDS CDP. That was before I found the above help guide that tells me this is not possible. The data went across from DP to PPDS, but the results were a mess, the wrong values to the wrong characteristics.
2. Tried sending Demand planning with standard characteristics from DP to PPDS, and this initially looked like it would work. Consumption group, Product, Location, ZCOLOUR (created a BW type info-object called ZCOLOUR which I put in the DP Planning object)
But when sending to PPDS, the COLOUR = RED comes over as a "desciptive characteristic", which is different to the manually created forecast in PPDS which is colour = RED within CLASS ZZZBLOCK Characteristic ZCOLOUR (Value = red), which comes up as a seperate tab on the requirement.
So the two ZCOLOURS of the infoobject ZCOLOUR and the Characteristic within Class 400 ZCOLOUR do not talk to each other ,and PPDS does not recognize the object, so cannot create any PPDS orders with block relevant characteristics.
The SAP help just talks about "create an ECC sales order" to use to feed demand into the CDP Blocks, so possibly it is not possible to map Demand Plan data to PPDS CDP Blocks. Has anyone got this to work? Please check the following:
Use consumption group with CBF characteristics. The CBF characteristics need to be in the consumption group!
The consumption group has to be assigned to the u2018demandu2019-view of the
product master
The assignment of the consumption group to the release settings (transaction
/SAPAPO/MC90)
If you want to Make-to-Stock Segment implement the BADI:
From a configuration point of view it is required to activate the BAdI
/SAPAPO/DM_BADI_CONF and add following line of coding to the method
CONFR_FILL:
method /sapapo/if_ex_dm_badi_conf~confr_fill.
et_stra_details-plnvp = 9.
endmethod. -
Dear all
Regarding the forecasting process based on product characteristics, is it possible to forecast on an aggregate level ( like configurable product code or regrouping of configurable products) and to disaggregate based on historical data by combination of product characteristics?
thanks in advance for your support
BR
patriceSorry Visu... Did not read the SNP OR PPDS properly.... (would you be able to do a CBF forecasting without having PDS and releasing to PPDS?)
As far as i know,
You can create PIRs in DP and send it back to R3 for creating the POs there
using MRP run
Pl check transaction /SAPAPO/REL_TO_OLTP - Release from InfoProvider to ERP System
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/3a/dfa841c1dae034e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
Also check transaction /SAPAPO/MC8U which is to release PIR from APO to R3 -
Hi Gurus,
We are using PPDS in that DS had created 1000kg of materail A and released to PP (ECC) , actually produced is 800kg and my question is
1. Where can i see my open orders in PPDS?
2. Can i move the open orders for next day or next week?
3. Can i close my open orders automatically? is there any standard program or ABAP programe?
4. Can i close my open orders in ECC?
Please let me know. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
KumarHi Kumar,
1) I hope you are using production orders during production. As and
when a production order is released(1000 Kg) and if only 800 Kg is
confirmed in ECC system, during next planning run, the balance 200 Kg
will show as fresh order. These orders can be downloaded using
transaction /sapapo/rrp4 transaction
2) You can reschedule the open orders as per your required date
in ECC system.
3) You can also techo the open orders in ECC system
4) Answer to question 3 is same
Hope you are clear now. Please confirm

Can't print in Quark 6.5; missing ppd for my printer
I just purchased the new 20" iMac w/the Intel Core Duo processor, and with it, bought a new printer, scanner, and updated all of my software. This computer replaced my trusty G4 Cube. I am now running strictly OS X (Classic isn't supported on the Intel Macs) and I love it! However, I cannot print from Quark 6.5 to my HP DeskJet 6540.
I called Quark and the tech support guy got me set up so that I can now create pdfs from Quark (It still doesn't work perfectly, but maybe it'll fix itself when Quark 7 is released. Quark 7, I'm told, should run natively on the Intel Mac.) I mentioned that I couldn't print from Quark. I haven't been able to test my computer out too much, since I just got it, but I have printed from Photoshop and Illustrator CS2 and off the internet (through Safari) with no problems. The tech support guy from Quark told me to check in a particular folder that lists all the PPDs (Macintosh HD--Library--Printers--PPDs--Contents--Resources--en.lproj) and there were lots of printers listed, but no HP DeskJets. He said that I need to get the PPD for my printer and place it in that folder.
Well, the next step was to call HP. I had researched their site beforehand, and know that there are no driver updates/downloads on their site for the Intel Mac--all of that came preinstalled with OS X.4. The tech support guy from HP had me try to add a new printer (something about a Gimp printer, I believe a 550 series??) and that didn't work. (Coincidentally, the DeskJet 550 PPD is not listed in my PPD folder either---no DeskJets are listed!!) I asked if HP had created a PPD file for my printer, and they said that they hadn't created anything that is compatible with the Intel Macs. He said that Apple called HP up, asked for their info, and that Apple created what they needed as far as printer drivers go.
So....I called Apple tech support. I explained all that I just mentioned above, and she put me on hold for a few minutes while she spoke with I guess a more experienced technician. Eventually she told me she didn't know how to help me and that I should try posting my situation here.
Is there anything I can do short of buying a new printer--one that's listed in the PPD folder? Thanks in advance!
20" iMac w/Intel Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.6) 2GB RAM, 500 GB HD, the works! Thanks for the suggestion. I looked around, but didn't see that option anywhere in the printer dialog box and corresponding menus, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. It doesn't even give me the list of PPDs in the Quark printing menu (they're all checked as being on in the PPD manager). That box is grayed out--I can't even click on it to scroll through the list, if there even is one.
Since posting this problem, I've spoken with Apple and HP again. The Apple tech said that they don't deal with PPDs at all. HP said they never created a PPD for this printer. The only 2 PPD drivers he could find were for laser printers. I don't need a large laser printer, nor can I afford one. Maybe I'll just have to get rid of this printer (which is brand new) and find a comparable one that's not an HP and will work with all of my software.
HP also suggested holding on until August when OS 10.5 is supposed to be released. Apparently I'm not the only one with printing problems. HP said that 10.5 should hopefully fix many of the printing problems people have been having. -

I want to upgrade my OS from official repository on Primary and Standby Servers. And I have a question:
Will I have a problem with my RDBMS after upgrade OS (e.g. statuses in dba_registry will become INVALID)?It's Ok.
Now I have:

No any problem. -
Generate a PS in Indesign CS5 - PPD problem
I am a little publisher and I migrated to Indesign from Xpress several years ago.
I've recently installed the CS5 Premium suite and I'm very upset about the new version of Indesign. I discovered (with my surprise) that in the print window it's impossible create a PS file using a PPD different from the system installed printers.
In the previous CS4 I was able to create PS file using the Acrobat ppd.
I known that inside Indesign there is a good Acrobat engine which exports pdf files but, often, the CTP services have a lot of problems with the recent PDF release (version after 1.4). In the mean time if I create a PDF 1.4 directly from Indesign I can't use the lossless jpeg 2000 compression. Instead, before (CS4), I was able to generate a PS file, where all effects were rasterized and after that I distilled it with Acrobat Distiller as a pdf 1.6 with the Jpeg 2000 compression. This way was perfect to avoid any kind of problem. I can't understand why Adobe decide to remove this stupid opportunity, if it's a little war against Apple I think that the only damage is reserved to their clients. Pls. Adobe modifies the print window in order to permit the use of different ppd; not necessarily the only ones relating the installed printers.
Pls. forgive my poor english.
RiccardoI had what seems to be a similar issue when my CS4 updated. The printer
PPD for writing a poscript file dumped out. Not good!!! I searched for a re
solution on the adobe site for about an hour. No luck as well.
I did however came up with a rather simple fix. Apparently when the update ran it cut off the PPD link for Acrobat pro 9.0. This in prefence to the update that system set up to export out as a PDF. As you know this does not work for a lot of reasons.
What I did (on 7.0 system but should work on Vista etc.) go to your Devices/Printers, add a printer, when propted you can assign one of two Adobe PDF options as a printer. Once I did this the PPD automatically reappeard in the PPD window under the postscript option. I ran some tests and it appears to work perfectly.
GOOD LUCK if you havn't already resolved the problem -
Adobe Acrobat for the Mac OS does not inherit the setting from the PPD for the printer. Our current settings for the PPD has Duplex enabled as the default for the HP LJ 9050 and it works in all the application with the exception of Acrobat 10.1.3, Acrobat does not inherit this setting from the driver. Our previous installation with Acrobat 10.1.0 duplex worked well with our PPD configuration where Acrobat inherits the setting from the PPD and duplex is default for all our black and white printers.
We found reference to the reserve issue with 10.1.2 in the forum but that solution is global for all printers and it only works with version 10.1.2
Does anyone know how to set the default printing settings in Acrobat version 10.1.3 to allow us to have duplex printing by default on the Mac.>It looks like a typical case of finger pointing, Adobe blames Epson, Epson blames Apple. Apple blames the user...
No, you still don't get it...Lightroom is a Cocoa app...it uses Cocoa printing APIs...therefore, print drivers will have to be rev'ed to support those Cocoa APIs...the 3800 (6.10) DOES...the earlier 3.5x drivers won't under Leopard.
What's the driver version of your R800? Something like 3.09? The odds are REAL GOOD (since Epson hasn't released an updated driver for that printer yet) that it's not been updated.
So, you are just gonna have to wait for Epson to rev the drivers, use Tiger instead of Leopard or print out of Photoshop CS3 (which is a Carbon app and uses the Carbon APIs) or not print.
You may not _LIKE IT_ but those are your options... -
Newer HP printers are being released as 10.5+ compatible. I can see the new .gz definitions in Snow Leopard (/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources) after the latest Software Update via Apple. Can this file simply be copied into the appropriate folder in a 10.4.11 Tiger PPC Mac, and be properly recognized and used?
Example from a printer data sheet (M401n):
Mac: Mac OS X v 10.5, v 10.6, v 10.7; PowerPC G4, G5, or Intel® CoreTM Processor
HP PCL 5e, HP PCL 6, HP postscript level 3 emulation, direct PDF (v 1.7) printing
For this printer, I suppose the Generic PostScript driver always should work - even in OS9. Not sure how "direct PDF Printing" works. But having the full print options would be better.
Thanks for any comments.Update FYI: Independent HP reps said the 10.5+ PPDs they provide are intrinsically incompatible with 10.4. So tested "Generic Postscript" with the inexpensive monochrome postscript LaserJet M401n printer mentioned above and it worked fine. Note the printer was added via Bonjour for 10.4, and (LPR/printer IP address) via the Desktop Printer Utility for Classic OSs (7.6.1 and 9.1 tested).

Ppds Planned order quantity is taken back to DP for analysis
Hi Guru,
Can any one explaine in step by step how i can release my order quantity from PPDS to DP to do my further analysis?
Please it will be really great if any one can guide me.
Thanks & Regards,
Kumar.Kumar,
Can you explain a little more what you are asking?
DP is demand planning. Here you are managing and deciding what your demand will be (predicting what you will sell is one of the more common outputs of DP)
PPDS is detailed supply planning. Here you are creating your supply elements, determining exactly how you actually intend to procure or build the product. In this plan, you have the opportunity to take into consideration capacity, execution duration, and the availability of lower level materials. In many (but not all) cases, the PPDS plan is built after the Demand plan has been turned into a final production demand forecast, and released to production for execution, prior to actually receiving the actual sales orders. In some cases, companies also may create an intermediate supply plan, which would usually be at a simpler level of detail (SNP).
Now you say you wish to 'release my order quantity from PPDS to DP' for some kind of analysis. I am not sure what this means. Supply and demand are two different things.
Companies that wish to, say, compare the demand plan to the supply plan typically don't do it in DP. Some will write custom reports, others build custom infocubes in a BW and perform their analyses there. It is definitely possible to extract supply elements (or just about any other type of data) into some kind of data structure, and place these elements into a DP planning book, if there is a business requirement. This would definitely be non-standard, and would have to be designed and built from scratch.
If you are looking for a transaction that will 'releases the order quantity from PPDS to DP', I don't believe it exists. If you wish to pull data from PPDS or SNP or ERP into DP in general, I would say you should talk to your local BW and DP experts to see what they can design for you.
Rgds,
DB49
