Hi
I have a release key for tcnc6.3.1 now i want to upgrade to tc6.3.1.
How to get the release key for tc 6.3.1 and will i get it free?

What George has posted is slightly wrong. While software versions from TC6.1 onwards no longer require a specific release key, a device still needs to have a valid release key installed (for an one of the releases of software), and that key needs to be from the same software train (ie TC or TCNC) as the software you are installing.
Doing a search in these forums shows this question, or similar, has been asked a number of times before where the answer is:
If you have an active service contract on your device, you should contact Cisco TAC with your Endpoint Serial Number and service contract information and they will be able to assist in converting you from a TCNC to a TC licence/release key (assuming you're in a country that the TC software is allowed in).

I am on the engineering side of SAP ERP where I create new materials, BOMs, etc. We do this with a change master without release key today. We are switching to a more controlled/managed process for engineering changes where we will use change masters with a release key and approval workflows for these tasks (ECM). The problem we are seeing is that the supply chain side of the business is not able to perform their tasks of costing materials and driving for new parts until the ECM workflows are complete, release key is active, and the changes are valid for production. There must be a way for supply chain to perform these tasks beforehand, so that when the release key becomes active, material costing is complete, new materials are already on hand (or at least been ordered), so that the process of procurement/production orders are not delayed. Can you point me to documentation that provides an overview, or summarizes what the best practices are for our supply chain when we start working with ECM release keys?

the release key allows you to release the change for specific business functions. Please look at the options available in release key configuration. You will need multiple release keys to bring the changes in a more controlled manner.

ECO number with revision level and release key

Hi All,
I have a requirement from client with regards to Engineering change manangement.
The scenario is that we are maintaining BOM for materials.Whenever a change is required for BOM a ECO number is created with release key.
Once the BOM is changed against ECO number is created a workflow is triggered for approval.
Then it goes through a series of approvals in the heirarchy.In each level the reviewer will propose a new value for the changed line item.
All these changes have to be maintained in record.At the end the final approver reviews all the proposed changes and release the ECO number with the appropriate change.
I had a thought of implementing the above scenario with ECO with revision level and release key.
But I am unable to replicate the scenario due the fact that,when I select the ECO number with release key,I cannot select the material in Object type.
Its disabled.Its available when I create a ECR with release key.
Please suggest a way to create ECO number with release key and revision level for BOM.

Hi,
You create the revision level against the material (via MM02, basic data tab)) not against the serial. The serial number, by definition, would be unique to the combination of material and revision.

Diagnostics reports missing release key, click "add valid release key"

I noticed you uploaded the non-encrypted version of TC7 software, is that the correct version that was previously installed?
You should be able to enter the release key using the API command below through either the web interface under Configuration > API or using SSH.
xCommand SystemUnit ReleaseKey Add
if that doesn't work, you can perform a software image swap to the other software image you upgraded from under Maintenance > System Recovery. Switching back to the other software image can atleast get you back online in the time being if adding the release key doesn't work.

Release Key in ECM

Hi Gurus,
Can you tell me the importance of the Release key and Lock Change Number option given in the Set Up Control Data screen for the ECM.
Following Lock Change Number key options are there in SAP.
1) Global Release
2)Release for Costing
3)Release for Planning
4)Release for production.
Any detail document with ECM spro-configuration would have the full points in the basket.

In CC01 initial screen when choose "With Release key" option then no need to
attach an objects to the ECR/ECO, Tik/select only "Actv" "Object" MgtRec"
use the change number to change the object BOM/Routing, i.e. until you release the Change Number you don't see the change in Production order.
This is the relevancy of Release key in ECM.
When you lock the release key, i.e. you cannot make the changes affect in the production order or in OCM i.e order change management. So locking prevents you to make affect of changes in OCM.
similarly for costing, Planning & Global.

Change master with release key

Hello,
When change master is created with release key, changes to material master is not possible.
However changes to BOM are possible. If someone wants to make changes possible for material master with release key then how one can do that?

Dear,
You can create a change master using t-code CC01 and you can maintain and you can maintain the revision level in the objects. Then using this change master you can change the material master . Then automatically the system will create a new revision level.
Using T code CC11 - Create Revision Level ,we can maintain the revision levels.
One more way of doing this is ,using MM02 T code,after going into Basic 1
view,just below the material field,you can find the creation button for revision level
You can come to CC02 T code enter the change number set the Release key values as 01.

Upgrading TMS and Release Keys

Is a new release key required when upgrading TMS versions, and If one is required, is there some place in TMS that shows when you have a valid key for the current version or when you need to apply for a new one?

if you are asking for the upgrade part if the TMS installer will show you a warning if the key is valid for the version you are trying to upgrade to then yes:
This is in the installation wizard when upgrading from a major version to another and if you do not provide the correct key. If the key is correct the upgrade will continue without this question.
And as sumeet is saying if you have a correct serial number and the TMS is not showing any warnings when you are operating the TMS the key is most likely valid.

Error in setting release key for a change number

When i am giving release key in CC02 01(Global Release) system is giving me message It can not be released for production
when i analysed i found the following details
ECO PP0000000029 cannot be released for production
Message no. CC251
Diagnosis
You want to set a release key for an ECO and it has been defined as globally released.
System Response
The system checks the system status of the ECO. You can only set the release key if the ECO released system status is set for the ECO.
Procedure
Check the system status of the ECO (in the change header).
If required, set the system status to ECO released.
If you cannot yet set this system status for the ECO, you first have to process the system status of the allocated change objects.
What is the reason for that.What i need to resolve that with exact steps.

How to update ECN 'Release Key' programatically (like transaction CC02)

I am trying to programatically set the 'Release Key' of an Engineering Change Number from '00' to '01'. Is there a function that will allow me to update AENR-RLKEY?

I would suggest you record the a batch-input session for for CC02 to set the releaek key, then you can call it through CALL TRANSACTION in your program, this is much safer and effective than updatng through a function.

current situation:
we use the tunction with release key in ECM,when we process the last step,release ECO,at first,set status ECOR,next,input release key 01,finally,save.
in this case,if don't input release key,still may save.
hope result:
after set status ECOR,if don't input release key,don't allow save.
how to achieve our hope result?

It is standard SAP behaviour that ECR/ECM with release key certain items will be greyed out. So try without release key. There is a SAP note"159414" to modify this behavior.

Unable ot activate ECM for Master Recip - Scenario - ECR with Release Key.

Dear Friends,
We want to activate ECM for Material BOM as well as Master Recipe.
Scenario : ECR with Release Key.
We are able to activate for BOM only.
In object Screen, Master Recipe iline item is greyed out.
System : ECC 6.0 - Ehp4

ECM-Release key doubt

Hello team,
I have doubts on the below topic in ECM, i browsed through forum but i need some more clarity. If any one can help me it will be of great help.
Release key - In release key we have various areas where we can release like production, planning etc.
For example let us consider, i selected release to production (off course system says if we select production we need to select planing also).
I used this ECM to do changes in E bom released it to production using this key.
Does it mean a) P bom automatically gets updated with the changes which was used for E bom.
b) or is it like PP dept can use this data and make changes in P bom
c) System says it affects the respective areas what does that exactly mean
Please help me as i am confused.

Activating ObjectKey's in change master with Release Key.

Hello Gurus,
I would like if SAP has come up with any solution for activating Object key for other objects apart from the standard BOM along with the release key.
Scenario:
I want my Engineering Record to create a change master with the Release key and use same the change master for making changes to Documents along with BOM. There is an OSS note 1767458 - WebUI: Object category enhancement for packages, release key for PLMWUI 746 and not for later versions of PLMWUI ( PLMUI 747).

Release key for TCNC codec software

Hello!
My question is very simple )
As far as I know, Release keys for TC and TCNC Cisco codec software are different. It's not possible to activate, e.q. TC software with "TCNC" Release key and vice versa. My codec uses TCNC software, but it's not up to date. If I want to upgrade it to the latest software release - how can I get correct Release key?
I don't see any possibility to choose something like TCNC5.1.1 in the list of available releases in online tool (Tandberg Software -> Get new Release Key), all releases in the list are something like TCX.

Short comment. The TCNC software is not about "I do not need encryption", it is about, the country you are in if you are allowed to use encryption software, or better if Cisco is allowed to export software using encryption there.
So as long as you or your system is not under these requirements simply use the TC software and if you do not need encryption simply do not use or disable it.

Alert noise when releasing keys of controller?

As I am new to MIDI/MS I can't figure out why I am getting an alert noise every time I release a key on my axiom 61. I think it has something to do with MIDI setup as I just recently reconfigured my settings in Audio MIDI setup, but I can't find what is causing this. Basically, If I play any key of the controller, as soon as its released I get what sounds to me like a ping/cowbell, same pitch on every key. What am I missing here? Thanks for your help.

well I figured it out and feel like an idiot. I had "test setup" on in the Audio Midi Setup, and didn't realize thats what was making the sound.
