Release Management & Reporting

In looking at the reports provided in TFS, I’m having trouble finding anything Release Management specific. It would be helpful for our auditors if I could provide reports based on the data shown in the Release Manager client. For example, the Releases tab
shows the list of releases based on the filter applied, with information on the release template used, which build is being deployed, the stage, who created it and on what date it was released. Does anyone know of the reports available in TFS for Release Management,
or will I need to build my own.

Is there a Prime Infrastructure 2.0 manager report that shows daily alarms, who the alarms were assigned to and when they were acknowledged? I can't find anything on the tool or in the documentation and this is required to prove compliance in the financial industry.

Release Management fails to locate log file

Hi,
I'm using Visual Studio Release Management to deploy MSI packages.
When I try to "View Log" I get the following error:
There was an error while reading the log: Could not find file 'C:\Users\zzzzzz\AppData\Local\Temp\RM\T\RM\xxxxxx\201503051135578722385-6\__Installer__.log'.
And the step reports Success when it should have reported an error (The MSI returns an error).
Any idea why the log is not generated?

Hi Gilad,
You can check whether you can find the log in the path. If the log not exist, you can do a new release and check the log after doployment.
I'd like to know the error details about MSI. If the deployment succeed, then the release can be taken as successful.

Release Management Demand Processor

Hi ,
Iam working on the "Inbound: Planning Schedule (830/DELFOR) " using e-coomerece gate way.
I am trying to upload the 830 edi file into oracle apps using seeded programs .
While running the "Release Management Demand Processor" program (which will imoprt the data into rlm base tables) , the eception report shwoing error as "No Forecast Designator defined for Customer xx" and data loading with same error.
Does anybody come across this error please help me out .help will be appreciated.

As per my testing, the file which is having line start date >19-apr-2011 are not loading ,if I remove all the lines start date >19-apr-2011 then its loading the successfully.

Release Management in PCM

Hi all
I wondered how others deal with release management in a PCM environment? Most of my projects have at least a development/test and a production environment; some have one each for development, test and production. In each case, moving changes from one environment to the next is time-consuming and requires a lot of cross-checking. It feels like there ought to be a better way.
Does anyone use software tools or particular techniques to manage this process on PCM projects? If so, what are they, and what has your experience of using them been like?

Hi Steve,
I've pondered this question since you posted it, and tried to think of an adequate response. I'm not sure I have one. I sure don't have a one-size-fits-all answer. My experience is similar to yours. Each implementation is typically fairly unique and subject to the customer's view of what should be in DEV vs. QA vs. PROD. A lot of times, model migrations are pretty straightforward, but occasionally there's a need to migrate new aspects of a model in chunks.
As far as tools go, we've built a tool for ourselves and our clients that allows for comparison of assignments between models, or between versions & periods within a model (it also allows full model assignment reports to be generated.) It has helped for some clients, but it's not something that we use everywhere.

GRC 5.3 - Management Report Error: Cannot assign an empty string to host..

Good day Kiran Kandepalli and Others.
I have successfully executed the background jobs -
Full User, Role, Profile Synchronization & a
Full Batch Risk Analysis
When I run the Management Reports I receive the following error -
Error while executing the Job:Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10.
Has anybody had this error message before?
When I check table VIRSA_CC_PRMVL, variable 10 is set to No in Nullable collumn.

Thanks for your response. I have checked the usr02 table and logs and do not see any empty fields or strings. This process worked for 5.2 but fails in 5.3. Here is the excerpt from the log for the Management Report run. It seems to fail consistenly at a certain point. If I knew what the batch job was looking for in host variable 10 I might be able to resolve the problem. It seems to fail when it starts to report on users.

Management Report - Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10

We ran a Management Report for the first time after completing the User/Role/Profile Full Sync and the user/Role/Profile Batch Risk Analysis. The job failed with the following error:

We are on GRC 5.3 support pack 4. Has anybody encountered this error? What does host variable 10 refer to?

I checked our USOBT_C table and we have a lot of empty values. If this is allowed to be empty in SAP and this is the table that is uploaded into CC, why would all the fields in CC tables then be defined as NOT NULL? We suspect that since we had uploaded USOBT_C under 5.2 and if this had been an issue before, it may have been corrected when we upgraded to 5.3 but then the old data is still in our system. Is there an easy way to get around or correct this?

Deployer Installation: Failed to validate Release Management Server for Team Foundation Server 2013

Attempting to install the deployer on a machine and getting the below error. Not sure what that means, out of turn error or what actually occurs at this step, validating release management server, during the configuration piece. The user,
that we set for the service was validated fine. The user is an service account in the TFS RM Server, is an admin on the local box as well.
I am able to get into the TFS RM Server through the client just fine. I can hit the TFS RM UI just fine as well.
Curious what would not allow the deployer to complete as mentioned below.
Any help is appreciated.

Problems setting up release management

Hi I am running into problems in setting up Microsoft Release Management. I have 2 domains. My tfs (separate server), release management server and release management client (both on single physical server) are in domain1 and deployer is in domain2 in Azure
VM. I am using a VPN tunnel to connect release management server, release management client and deployer. They connect with each other nicely. The problem comes when I add reference to tfs in release management client. TFS fails to verify. Now
the user I am using to connect has Make requests on behalf of
others' permissions so that is not the issue. I get TF400324 error. I even used wireshark to troubleshoot but it looks as if release management
client is not even trying to connect. I can access tfs url via web browser with vpn connected from machine on which release management client is running. when Now if I disconnect the vpn and try to verify tfs from release
management client it works. Does release management client supports connecting via ipv6 tunnel?

I'd like to know how do you connecting via ipv6 tunnel, and when you get the error(without vpn connection?) . If your machine can be access via HTTP/HTTPS, then RM client can also be connected. For your situation, seems you got the
issue resolved after using vpn.
If you have other concerns about the error, you can also check the methods below to see if it works for you:
1. Check the permission of the user account you use, make sure it has the permission of "make requests on behalf of others"
2. Clean team foundation cache on your RM client machine
3. Check the team project collection url to ensure it's input correctly, or use the solution on this
page

Error opening a Manage Report template with Formulas and Summation

Hi Expert,
My j2ee web application is setup is such a way that when there is NO connectivity to the Crystal Report Server XI, it will use the Crystal Report for Eclipse functionality and opening report templates located in the relative path - This works fine.
But when there is a connectivity to the CMS Server, I have this error when opening a manage report in Crystal Report Server XI that contains formulas and summations. But for other reports like chart and listings no problem.
This code triggers the error:

I found out there's a conflict between CR libraries for Eclipse and libraries for RAS Enterprise Server XI.
How can I solve this issue so that I can support the two scenarios - with or without CMS connectivity, I can still view reports.

You must isolate the CR4E and RAS SDK jars using separate classloaders - simplest is have separate apps, if rolling your own class loaders is out of project scope.
They do not work together.

Device Manager reported driver missing for Officejet 7310 printer

I used the full-feature install software downloaded from HP site to setup an Officejet 7310 printer on a Lenovo T540p laptop with Windows 8.1 64-bit OS. The install and the printer appear to work correctly as I can print and I can also scan from the HP Solution Center utility. However, the Device Manager reports two errors/anomolies as follows.
Under the "Multifunction adapters" entry the Officejet 7300 series Properties shows the Device Status as:
This device is disabled. (Code 22)
Click Enable Device to enable this device.
Under the "Other devices" entry theOfficejet 7300 series Properties shows the Device Status as:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
I find this a bit baffling as I believe the install software is supposed to include the driver(s), plus the printer seems to function (which could be due to default Microsoft drivers).
Any thoughts on how things got in this state and how to recover would be deeply appreciated as I prefer to not "ignore" the error messages.

Yes I was able to remove the USB instance and rename the network-connected printer instance as the sole printer. I thought that should work, but I was a bit paranoid given the other weird things that happened with the package install.

Batch Management report Issue.

Hi Friends,
I have a question on batch management report, for detailed information please see the steps below
Step 1 : I have material X and Y created with class u2018XYZu2019, and characteristic value temperature 10 u2013 100 c
Step 2 : I have done Goods receipt for both the material
Material document     Material     Batch Number     Characteristic Value
123          X     TEMP1          10 C
124          X     TEMP2          10 C
125          Y     TEMP3          10 C
126          X     TEMP4          20 C
127          Y     TEMP5          20 C
I have two questions now?
1.     Is there any report to find out the list of materials with characteristic value 10 C?
2.     is there any report to find out list of batches for 10 C?

There is no standard report for your requiremet, go for ABAP development.

Release management with Azure and Visual Studio Online (Cloud TFS)

What strategy would you use to manage the releasing of versioned software to Azure cloud services (web and worker roles)? We are not looking for continuous integration. We are using Visual Studio 2013 and Visual Studio Online (Cloud TFS).
At one point, we were releasing straight from Visual Studio using the Azure Cloud Project Publish tool. This is really bad practice in my opinion as you can never be sure what you are really releasing. Additionally, there is no automated control on the labeling
or branching of code, or the running of unit tests and code analysis checks.
Next, we employed Release builds on Visual Studio Online. Before deployment, one would edit the appropriate Build Definition (whether it be for Test or Production by and filling in the code label (under the "Get Version" build property) that is to
be released. This would then get the appropriate code (by the label specified), build it, and release it to whatever cloud service is specified in the targeted Cloud Project profile (this is using the AzureContinuousDeployment.11.xaml template).
There is still a degree of manual intervention involved. Also, the fact that a version of code is built every time before it is released is not ideal (as far as I understand it would be better if it was packaged once).
Microsoft Release Management tools
look ideal for the job, but are not supported with Visual Studio Online.
Is there a better way of handling our releases?

/waves hand.. These are not the tools you seek. You are looking for continuous integration.
Although CI has the word continuous in there, it does not mean "all the time, every checkin". It can easily refer only to those bits you want to release - -and the way to tell the system which bits you want released is to merge them to a Releases
branch.
If you do this, not only do you get all the joy of controlled CI, but you guarantee what you release is exactly what is controlled in your SCM - under the Releases branch, preferably tagged or otherwise noted as a particular release. That means you can also
rollback to a previous release by simply reverting to a previous release in your SCM!
Of course you don't have to let it happen automatically, you can set it up to build 'continually' and then remove the check on the SCM to see if any changes have been committed. You can replace this with the manual build button.

I am wondering what the table name for cash management reports is. I am trying to figure out then if I have any missing.

I checked MSEG table. But, I didn't find any field for date.
Can you tell me field name.

PO release strategy report

Dear Experts,
we are creating one report.
PO release strategy report for Audit purpose.
Who created
When created
TIme should be display
user id and user code.
for example, we have 4 levels for PO release.
All 4 persons should approve for this PO.
we need to know level wise when they released who released.
how to take this
