Release of demand to PPDS directly skiping SNP

Dear Experts ,
I am planning to use demand planning and PPDS
I created a demand plan and i want to send directly to PPDS , but there is not any tcode to sent demand directly to PPDS like
Release to SNP like MC90
Please advise

Hi Raj,
Same Transaction /sapapo/mc90 should be use to release demand to PPDS as well. You have specify relevant category like FA or FC. This will get recognized by PPDS.

We are entering the demand in daily bucket in DP and released the demand to snp.(We are not using any calenders in DP)
I noticed in the Product view that demand which is entered on sundays in DP are not taken into account.

Hi,
Yes, the calendar that you are using for workday definition is having sunday as a holiday and that is why no demand is registered on that day. You can define your own calendar on which all 7 days are working days and use that calendar while calculating workdays through macro Bucket_Wdays(Calendar(location; calendar; vesion);days).

Release DP CBF to PPDS

Hi Guru,
We are implementing DP CBF and also PPDS using IPPE. My question is How is release from DP to PPDS as we are using IPPE for PPDS. Process is completely MTS scenarios
1. Is there standard release from DP to PPDS even with varients?
2. How forecast with variant characteristic will be read by PPDS with varient characteristics?

Hi,
The reply given above is correct, the transaction is the same for release from DP to SNP/PPDS.
However, in case of CBF, you have to make use of the u201CExtended u201C field in the release transaction.
You must enter a consumption group (see Descriptive Characteristics). Otherwise the descriptive characteristics are not transferred to the order liveCache. The descriptive characteristics are then attached to the resulting planned independent requirements.
You can also specify whether forecasts are generated in the order LiveCache for all values of the descriptive characteristics or just for specified values.

Release Management Demand Processor

Hi ,
Iam working on the "Inbound: Planning Schedule (830/DELFOR) " using e-coomerece gate way.
I am trying to upload the 830 edi file into oracle apps using seeded programs .
While running the "Release Management Demand Processor" program (which will imoprt the data into rlm base tables) , the eception report shwoing error as "No Forecast Designator defined for Customer xx" and data loading with same error.
Does anybody come across this error please help me out .help will be appreciated.

As per my testing, the file which is having line start date >19-apr-2011 are not loading ,if I remove all the lines start date >19-apr-2011 then its loading the successfully.

Releasing the Demand Plan to SNP

Dears,
I need more illustration when you using Transaction Code /SAPAPO/MC90 to release demand to SNP
APO Help Say :-
"independent requirements is not restricted to planning in SCM SNP. Planned independent requirements within the production horizon are planned in production planning and detailed scheduling in SCM PP/DS."
What he means by data will be available n PP/DS?
Did APO System Generate Capacity Requirement? is that what he means ?

There are two horizons in the product master - SNP production horizon and SNP stock transfer horizon. In your company if you are using both SNP and PP/DS then after the forecast is released to SNP, you will execute SNP and then for the short term you will execute PP/DS.
In such a scenario (where SNP is used for mid term planning and pp/ds for the short term) , you need to maintain the SNP production horizon (in case of inhouse production) and stock trans horizon(for external procurement / branch to branch transfers) to define the boundary between sNP and PP/Ds. that is you need to specify till what day /week /month you need PP/DDS plan and for what time frame you need SNP plan. The SNP production / stk trans horizon is the horizon during which SNP will not generate any plan. That is if your stk trans horizon is say 10 days , then SNP will not genearate any supply within this 10 days even if there is demand . Supply will be generated for the next 10 days only by PP/DS. SNP will generate supply only outside the production /stock transfer horizon.
As specified by SAP , your planned independent requirement is thus not restricted to SNP. That is if the demand is within the prod / stk trans horizon it is fulfilled by the pp/ds run and demands outside the horizon are planned by sNP

Release Strategy in PO for direct materials not driven by MRP

We have a requirement to enable release strategy for purchase orders created for direct materials that are not driven from an MRP requirement for a single plant.
Request you to let me know how I can make this work.
I have an option to make it mandatory to have Preq for these PO's and can enable release strategy for Preq which are created other than MRP.
request to let me know if there are other options in PO's itself where I can find that the Purchase orders are created directly and put release strategy in it.

Hi Murali,
Standard SAP provides PO release strategy at header level only and not at item level.
So you can create a new PO document type and allow use of only this document type for manual PO creation.
Then set-up PO release strategy for newly created document type, where one of the primary characteristic will be Order Type (Purchasing).

PPDS PPM to SNP PPM

Hello Experts,
I am CIFfing production versions to create PPDS PPMs in APO. From there I am creating SNP PPMs.
The question is, when I do initial CIF of all the production versions(some production versions are old and some are new), how do I find a list of the PPDS PPMs that are still not converted to SNP PPMs.
Also is there a list which shows PPDS PPM plan along with the respective SNP PPM plan?
I tried referring the table /sapapo/plan, but it just gives the plan number, date of creation etc etc. Not even the Input/ouput products and the location.

Use the BAPI : BAPI_PPMSRVAPS_GETLIST to get the PPM details.
/SAPAPO/PLAN_GEN to get the details of SNP PPM generated from PPDS PPM in the coloumn Plan generated.

I am converting a snp planned order from ppds order in transaction /sapapo/rrp_sap2ppds and using heuristic sap_pp_002.But it is canceling the heuristic and giving above error message.I have given 60days ppds horizon and 61days snp horizon.lot size:lot-for-lot.Please suggest what to do?

Hello ,
The hueristics sap_pp_002 you are using is based on algorithm "planning of std. lots".
For converting Supply Network Planning (SNP) orders or Capable-to-Match(CTM) orders into Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) orders, try to use a heuristic based on the algorithm /SAPAPO/HEU_SNP_CONVERT, such as the standard heuristic SAP_SNP_SNGL..
I think the above mentioned hueristics should be able to solve the problem .

Converting PPDS PPM to SNP PPM

Hello,
On converting a PPDS PPM to an SNP PPM which has multiple activities(operations). Is there a way to generate the SNP PPM the same number of activities included in the PPDS PPM to capture one Resource for each SNP PPM. Or it has to be converted multiple times?

PP/DS PPM A
Activity 1 - Resource A
Activity 2 - Resource B
Activity 3 - Resource C
If PP/DS PPM is set-up like the example above, can this be converted to 3 different PPMs for the 3 different resources in one conversion? Or i would need to do the conversion three times to generate the SNP PPMs (examples below)?
SNP PPM 1A
Activity 1 - Resource A
SNP PPM 1B
Activity 1 - Resource B
SNP PPM 1C
Activity 1 - Resource C
SNP PPMs are set-up per resource to monitor utilization and capacity per resource. Also, resources are set up per production line in ERP.

Releasing forecast to PP/DS directly from an infocube

Hi,
has anyone of you ever tried to release an forecast directly from an infocube (i.e. without using DP), is that possible? Maybe there is already a report?

Releasing demand plan from DP into custom categories in SNP.

Hi Gurus,
I need to release the demand plan from DP into SNP custom categories Z1 thru Z4. The key figures that I mapped to these custom categories are created in a non-standard planning area (copied from 9ASNP02).
I am able to release the demand plan using category FA only. Can anyone help me in releasing demand plan into these custom categories in SNP.

I did a F1 help on target category field in tcode /n/sapapo/mc90 and this is what i found
For the release of the demand plan to Supply Network Planning, you can specify a category that tells the system which category of orders to release to. An entry in this field is optional, but if you do enter a category it must be a category that represents sales orders or forecasts, such as FA or FB.
You can also release to categories you have created yourself. This allows you to distinguish, for example, between different forecast priorities.
The system proceeds as follows:
1. Has a category been entered in the release profile? If yes, this category is used.
2. If no, has a category been set in the definition of the requirements strategy in Customizing? (You define the product's strategy in the Proposed strategy field on the Demand tab of the product master record.) If yes, this category is used.
3. If no, category FA (forecasts) is used.
So as the F1 help says in the release transaction /n/sapapo/mc90 did you try giving the custom categories ? Also i have one more idea - after the forecast gets released to category FA , copy it to a key figure that is assigned custom cateogries Z1 to Z4.
But just want to understand something . Why do you want to release it to a custom cateory instead of FA ? How are you going to handle the consumption of forecasts by sales orders if you release it to custom category. I think releasing it to a custom category will make your process more complicated since you are altering the standard SAP functionality.

Has anybody coded the Release Forecast to APO UE - ZXDMUSERU17???

Transaction MC90 releases forecasts/demand plans from DP to SNP. This user exit ZXDMUSERU17 is supposed to allow me to affect the resulting orders on the RRP3 screen, but for the life of me I can't figure out how this is done.
I'm looking for code examples where somebody has done anything with the SCHEDULE_LINE_TAB table within this UE.
Shoot, I'd be happy to see ANYTHING that anybody has done with it.
Any helpful information would be awarded with points.

Figured this out on my own. UE's and BADI's were useless for what we needed. Debugged the MC90 program stack and found what we needed in an implicit enhancement to fill_schedule_tab.

Forecast consumption within Calender month

Hi,
When the forecast is released from Demand Planning to Supply Planning (SNP) in weekly buckets there will be crossover of the forecast for the weeks that are in the Month end/Month Beginning, the week could fall into different months.
Even though we restrict the forecast consumption to the calendar month, it could still be consuming some forecast in the weekly bucket that overlaps the end of one month and the beginning of the next month.
How to overcome this problem. I need to restrict the consumption to present month, wheather the bucket is day or week.
I already seen the post by Dan Hofstatter , its very useful for me. But still the above problem.

CB forecasting

Dear Experts in CBF forecasting there is the following documentation,
PP/DS creates planned independent requirements at configured product level. The demand for individual characteristic values/combinations is not transferred initially. When the PDS is exploded, the system determines the dependent demand for the components by referring to the demand plan for the characteristic values/combinations. It creates dependent requirements for the components in PP/DS, which can be converted to production orders or purchase requisitions
My question is as follows:-
1. In my investigation, the expectation is that I would not have any BOM's the forecast is for a car, of colour black and engine size 2.0 ltr. Can I create a requisition to match this combination or would the requisition be for a car only. Apologies the simplified supply chain is that I generate forecast for a car, however send the basic supply plan to the vendor (my supplier).

some background, the limitations are within the project, currently the manufacturer will remain on a legacy system, however the requirement is to provide the following:-
1. Capture the sales forecast from various distribution points (car dealers), this is for a car model and body type let's say
2. convert this to a requirements forecast, hence if the leadtime for manufacture is 4 weeks, your requirements forecast is date - weeks, reflecting current stock and any production profiling such as number of days cover. Send this to the supplier.
3. receive back from the supplier/manufacturer an agreed manufacturing plan indicating what can be produced by month, same level as above
4. Diaggregate and then add more characteristics to the demand, which would be things such as engine size, alloy wheels etc
5. Eventually release this demand to PPDS and generate purchase requisitions, the expectation is that the requisitions will mirror the PIR which has any and all the characteristics added via the demand planning process.
6. Send this purchase requisition to the supplier to confirm the request and who will receive the car when built.
Appreciate any feedback you have on this? although not a typical approach, the project scope is determining the fact that production planning is outside our scope. Hence only using PPDS to generate the requisitions as a means to confirm a proposed production plan.
