Release schedule, Oracle/Sun deal etc ...

Hi, I am a newbie to RIA and am trying to come upto speed with JavaFX. This technology choice wins over Adobe-Flash and Silverlight for me, given that my app is in Java and consequently the fact that JavaFX and Java both run on the same JVM is the most compelling advantage. However, I am troubled with some related issues. I sense from the forums and other sites that these issues are bothering many other developers who are sailing in similar boats.
1) I have come across many references to the release 1.3, prism (superfast rendering of 2d/3d) etc. But, I could not find any official position from Sun on these.
2) A statement from Oracle and/or Sun w.r.t planst for future development would be re-assuring.Many of use who are working on this "platform" would
not be second guessing our decision w.r.t JavaFX constantly.
3) A "plan" and/or "roadmap" to open-source the entire JavaFX technology would also be very helpful. It appears that only a few components (compiler) are open-sourced.

Since my original posting, I have started "following" some of the "visible" members of the JavaFX team on twitter. (Richard Bair, Jasper Potts, Jonathan Giles etc). This "info" coupled with the info in the JavaFX bugbase does corraborate what you have shared. Much thanks again.
The window of opportunity for JavaFX is not likely to be open forever. Given the pace at which the ecosystem around Adobe Flash is developing (partners, technology, adoption ...) there is a risk of JavaFX becoming marginalised and possibly becoming irrelevant. The most compelling advantage that JavaFX has over "Flash" and "Silverlight" is the ability to run on the same JVM. Once this erodes (compiling ActionScript to java-byte code is within the realm of possiblity ?) the game may be over for JavaFX. (IMHO)
Wish that the Oracle/Sun execs start developing some momentum for JavaFX despite the delay w.r.t the regulators. Would be good to see something compelling w.r.t OpenSource strategy or endorsement by some of the big players. (Cisco ?, HP ?)

Hi,
The release of Oracle XML tools and utilities by Oracle XML team is a significant milestone and is definitely appreciated. However, as part of a large organization, some factors need to be clarified before using these utilities in production softwares.
I have noticed that XML parsers and other utilities are now coming as part of other softwares like JDeveloper etc. Following are my questions to the Oracle XML team and urgent and prompt reply will be greatly appreciated.
1. What is the XML tools support policy. Is it only OTN? Can we buy support? Are these utilities supported if large organizations have corporate server licenses. I have read at the XML site the XDK is fully and freely supported by Oracle Word Wide support. What does this mean?
2. What is the release schedule for the XML tools?
3. What is the response time?

As you noted many of the Oracle XDK components are production. This means that if your company has an Oracle Server Support contract you will get the corresponding level of support for the production XDK components.
If you don't have one, then OTN is your support resource. We will also have standalone support agreements in the future which you can purchase through the Oracle Store. The response time would be the same as for the server.
There is not a specific release schedule for components on OTN as they have different development schedules.

I am sure it has been done many times over within the JDeveloper community discussion but I felt compelled
to stop, think and acknowledge the efforts here.
To Oracle, Sun and others that have contributed to this software and resources a huge THANK YOU!
I started in this business as a COBOL programmer on the mainframe where the only option for you to learn
was to use a school or company mainframe to code. if you didn't have either your only
option was reviewing code in textbooks.
These tools are amazing for how much power they give those of us interested in furthering our skills but
limited in financial resources. The effort is staggering to me. Just lookng at the release notes and bug
fixes for the versions of this tool I am absolutely floored.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I hope that the open source concept continues. I applaud and urge
you to continue your efforts. You are all doing a wonderful thing really. In a time where the trend is to
charge charge charge for anything we do on our Droids and Iphones it is good to see a humane effort
flourish.

Released Schedule Delivery lines display

Hi Gurus,
I have a scenario in my client place. User wants to display scheduled delivery lines which will sum all the released schedule delivery lines and will display the total quantity in a smart form which will be sent to the vendor. I.E Scheduling agreement Qty - 100. Schedule lines 10 Qty per day and it will hve 10 delivery lines(100Qty=10 qty per day x 10 days). output document will show only the total qty of released schedule lines(sum of all released qty).Is there any standard form/ output type available for this requirement.Kindly advice.

As far as Db link is concern , I dont remember exactly , but 3 years before I had written a report which see Sales order schedule lines and devilry note lines against sales order. If you see process wise. when ever you create PO ( production order you assign some qty using 101 movement type .. and against production order you also give sales order . When you do delivery ( run seclude run ) it delivers against that material number , its movement is 601 ...
but I remember theres a link between these tables, VBAP,VBFA AND VBEP , LIPS ... against every sales order you can see sales invoice ( VBRP,VBRK) and you can also see your delivery note number in document flow .
I hope thisll give you some guide line, as right now I can not tell you the exact business process but I remember I written a report in SD 4 years before , in which they required Delivery against production order and sales order ... One more thing you also have production order reference on delivery item number. ( field :Empst ) . I think in my project they were maintaining this field .

Released schedule line in firm zone changed in the background

I need to understand why and how a Released schedule line in firm zone can be changed in the background?

If the qty is not transmitted to the vendor using message transmission, system does not firm the qty with in planning time fence.
So pls chk your planning time fence as well.

How Oracle to deal with the data lose?-----QNo.104

In incomplete recovery,some data will be lost. How Oracle to deal with it?
For example, at 9:00am, you find that it is a mistake to drop a user(you dropped it at 8:30am). But other users' transactions are in progress. A lot of data is input between 8:30 and 9:00. If decide to make a incomplete recovery, does this means all the data input between 8:30 and 9:00 will be lost?

For example, at 9:00am, you find that it is a mistake to drop a user(you dropped it at 8:30am. But the transactions are in progress. To make you clear, you can't drop the user while session connected to this schema.
I dont think that you would loose any data.
The other workaround for this issue would be,
I would clone this on other server just before the user dropped, take the export and then import the user in the production.

Different releases of oracle 10g and 9i

Hi,
what is the difference between oracle 10g release 1 (10.1 ) and 10g release 2 (10.2)? : difference in instalaion steps only ,will be fine
i need to install silently both the releases in AIX 6.1....
Also please tell me the same for different releases of oracle 9i.

As with N8, we now have the C7 Release Schedule available for you. This list will be updated regularly with release timings for different countries and variants. So, if you’re not sure about the availability for your phone, just take a look at the list.
Status: 13th April 2011
The release schedule for C7 PR1.1 is attached as an Excel file.
To check the Software Update availability for your phone, please first search for your country and then have a look for your specific productcode. (Your productcode information can be found by typing *#0000# on your C7.)
Status "Published" means that the software update is available for download
via your C7 (use Menu > Applications > Tools > SW Update > tick C7-00 Device Update and then follow the on screen prompts) or
via PC (connect your phone via USB and use OviSuite).
If you need more instructions just post here and we'll assist you.
Status "In creation" means your version is currently with our software teams. We can't give a specific day here, but you can switch on the automatic software update check in your phone (via Menu > Applications > Tools > SW Update > Options > Settings > Auto-check for updates) and your C7 will prompt you as soon as the new software is available. Please be aware that there may be delays for your code if pre-release testing highlights an issue that needs to be resolved prior to release.

Ok, I'll answer one by one:
- Week07 is the calendar week, meaning it will be released this week when it's listed as "in creation"
- Product codes that are missing in the excel sheet are not with our software team yet - this is mostly due to us waiting for approvals from operators, who want to test the software first
- Creating this list is manual work & we therefore can only do that for N8 & C7. At the moment I can't give any information about other products & software releases. If you activate the autocheck in your phone, it will automatically tell you when a new software is available.
- There are separate software update packages created for PC-update and in device-update - so it could be that one of those packages is available faster than the other.

Why does Firefox have 2 separate version-release-schedules?

I am on 3.6.25 and it's been upgrading within the 3.6 family even while v.9.0.1 is already out there. What is the reason behind the two parallel release schedules and why does it not just upgrade to 9.0.1 automatically?

I am sure there must be some good reason as I recall it as being a fairly solid decision, & seem to recall there was consideration being given to an even more radical option of stopping 64 bit Windows development entirely.

One thing you may note is that Mozilla development is not static. The (emailing) Thunderbird project has ceased development, and although desktop browsers are still being developed there is a lot of effort now going into Mobile & Firefox OS.

Flex PMD 1.2 Release Schedule

Does anyone know if there is a proposed release schedule for Flex PMD 1.2? Is there a RC for it yet? There's quite a few fixes I'd like to use and can't justify to a team until a release.
