Release strategy:ME53N : Older PR documents shows, modified PR rel.strategy

Hi Friends
We have updated the sequence of release codes for certain PR release strategies. But when we moved the changes production, i observe that all the older PR documents (Which were released last year and completed) also shows the updated release strategy in transaction ME52N/ME53N.
Can someone pls some explain? Is this normal?
SAP doesnt store the release strategy and its sequence of release codes, which were determined at the time of document creation?

There is no change in the older documents.
The documents are older by few years.
I have checked few documents randomly, the tcode ME53N shows only the updated release strategy.
I did some investigation today on this.
i think system will not keep the release strategy pertaining to document creation.
It will just store Release Group and Release strategy in the Purchase Requisition tables (like EBAN).
And when ever we try to display the document it will go and read the release strategy sequence from relevant tables.
Hope someone helps to validate if my investigation is correct.

Hello, I am trying to set release strategy for contracts (TCODE: ME31K). I have created characteristic, which use table CEKKO and field name BSTYP in Addnl data tab. I have checked values, and they are correct. Then I have assigned in release strategies in classification view value contract. But when I try to check release strategy in ME31K with green flag, it display error: Purchase Order not subject to release strategy. (I have tried to do the same strategy in purchase order, of course with value Purchase order, and it works nice).
So I have checked this release strategy with this codes:
CL24N ok,
CT04 ok,
CL30N ok,
CL20N ok,
Release simulation in release strategy works,
Then I found out that I should check SE38, SE37 but I do not understand how to use them (according: Purchasing Document Not Subject to Release Strategy).

I haven't said to use EKPO table in characteristics. You have to use CEKKO - BSTYP in characteristics.
I've just said the compare the value which you have given in Release strategy - Classification and EKPO table for the particular contract.
Also compare your release strategy settings with many existing documents in SCN.
Check your Classification should be like that.
You may see the error message in ME31K. Just save the contract then go to ME32K/ME33K or ME35K you can see the release strategy will effect for the contract.

Accounting document show BLOCKED in return invoice.

Hi,
when we create return invoice ( credit note) then accounting document show BLOCKED.
return order, delevery and invoice is craeted , but accounting document not created.
pls give me soln.

It all depends on the Customizing of Billing Type RE.In VOFA ,Check Box Posting Block has been activated against Billing Type RE.
So after saving the Returns Invoice , the Accounting Document gets Blocked.In such cases , these Documents can be released manually only.

Opening older Clarisworks documents

As I try to open older Clarisworks documents, I get "an I/O error occurred". In the past I have gone to hard disc, to Appleworks icon, held down Control key and clicked on icon, then opened "show package content" and opened the Contents folder to get at the proper Appleworks icon. Now when I try to open this Appleworks I get message "Launch of Appleworks failed.....could not be opened because OTUtilityLIB could not be found". I have tried reinstalling from the Appleworks disc. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have as to how to open these older documents. Thank you. John Church

You must be using AppleWorks 6.2.9. It has a known bug where it will return an I/O error on about half of ClarisWorks 4 or older files. What you have done in the past, "Force" AppleWorks 6 to open in Classic, is the best option short of deleting 6.2.9 & reinstalling 6.2.4 if you have it. The problem you're having with that seems to be the Shared Library Error that is caused by a random re-naming of a folder in the AppleWorks 6 package.
Although less common, the I/O error can strike corrupt documents. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about those if they are database, draw or paint. A word processing document can sometimes be opened in TextEdit to retrieve the raw text in the middle of a bunch of "garbage" text.
Also, the basic troubleshooting step of deleting the AppleWorks preferences may help, though I don't have a lot faith in that. It wouldn't hurt, though.

Thank you, but after an hour with apple support on the phone we came to the conclusion that the documents are lost... So the lesson is, don't trust icloud as a back up solution! A month worth of work down the drain...

Can't open older PDF documents.

Why can't I open older pdf documents with Adobe Reader 11.0.04. Just got a new iMac OS X 10.9. Screen says: "Adobe Reader could not open 'File Name' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."

I had two hard drives when I transferred my files to my new iMac. The PDF files I am trying to open are from one of these old hard drives. None of them will open up. However, the PDF files from the other hard drive do open. So it appears that the files were damaged when they were transferred over to the new iMac, which is very frustrating. I guess there's no way to salvage these files? They appear okay, just won't open up.

NO MATTER WHAT VERSION OF WINDOWS YOU'RE USING:
Right click one of the PDFs with the Word icon.
Select "Properties"
Where it says "Opens With" there is a button to change it from Word to Adobe Reader, which should be in the list of available programs that pops up.
Choose Reader, and click APPLY before clicking OK.
That will change ALL PDFs to Reader as the default application.

IPhoto 11 - older photos only show as thumbnails

I have upgraded both my MacBook Pros to iPhoto 11 and now some of my older photos only show as thumbnails and won't go full screen. I just get a triangle with a "!" on the screen.

Give the following a try. This will create a library with all of the full sized master files that are currently inside your iPhoto Libray package:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

If you are working within your own network, there are apps that allow this. One that seems to work well for me is called Fingerprint - it allows you to access non-AirPrint printers on your network, save to Dropbox, open a document directly on your Mac and save to iPhoto or Evernote:

PDF documents show black pages or black images

Why do some PDF documents show black pages or black images when opened in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro?

On my regular tablet I have 9.4.5 and have not had problems as you describe. I am sorry that I can not play with that version this week as I do not have that machine available. For others that might be able to check the problem out, it might be useful if you post a sample page of your PDF for others to look at. Just enough that demonstrates the point. If you cannot do it with a page from the document you have, if it would be possible to post something similar to get at the point. If you are successful in creating a problem page, then it might be easier to figure out the problem.

Opening older word documents

I am trying to open an older Word document that will open if I use the File/open option but I can't double click it. I have several hundered files I want to convert to the Microsodt 2011 version. It says it "This File Type is Blocked". I heare about trusted folders but dont know if this will help or how to create one on a MAC.

To add to sig's suggestion. It also may be that the Office font cache data is corrupt.
Close all Office applications. Remove the following files. The tilde (~) indicates your home account.
~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.browserfont.cache

For Office 2008, the location of the second item is:

argggh. Not sure if this bug is new with Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 or existed in 12 which I skipped. My photo albums added to Mobile albums have all photos older then 1970 showing dates (in Photoshop elements) of 12/39/1969 6:59 PM. This is a pain. Not sure if it will scree up the date taken values which at least for now seems to be valid in the Metadata.

Upgrading older Page documents

Please confirm for me my understanding of this problem. When I try to open older Pages documents in Yosemite, the message is "to open the document, save it with Pages '09 first". For the record, after upgrading to Yosemite, there is no iWork '09 folder in my Applications folder.
I doubt that I have used many (or any) of the features that didn't migrate from Pages '09. My desire is merely to upgrade the documents to the current version.
As I understand it, the solution is:
1. Reinstall iWork '09 from the DVD (which I have).
2. Download and apply iWork Update 9.3
3. Open older files and save them as Pages '09 documents; then open them again with current version of Pages.
Can someone please confirm that steps 1. and 2. are correct, and that they do not present any problems on a MacBook Pro (late 2013) running Yosemite.

It sounds to me as though you have some legacy Pages ’08 documents that Pages v5 dropped support. If you still have access to Pages ’08, export the problematic '08 documents to MS Word .doc, and then open these with Pages v5.5. That would avoid steps 1 - 3 altogether.
Otherwise, steps 1 - 3 are correct. Here again, you could also export them as MS Word documents too — as backups.
Pages v5.5 lacks about 100+ features/functionality that was available in Pages ’09 v4.3. Consequently, it will filter out document content that it does not support, such as some templates, linked Text boxes, the use of Mail Merge, bookmarks… ad nauseum. Then it autosaves it in v5.5 .pages format to the same ’09 filename sans your original content.

Could you answer a few questions to help us better understand the issue:
If you are trying to open the files by double clicking them, do they give any error??
Have you tried to drag a file into indeisgn, if yes what happends when you do that??
Is there any error message that you get??
Also if you create a new files in InDesign CC does it show up as grey like the cs4 files or do they open fine??
