Releasing unreleased segments in Standard SAP Idocs

Hi Friends,
I have a problem with an iDoc PPCC2PRETTICKET01, when I am trying to generate the schema for this idoc, standard function module throwing an error, saying like "Segment E1BP_PP_TIMETICKET in release 620 Unknown". I went to t-code WE31, I found that segment E1BP_PP_TIMETICKET not released. I am trying to release but the system is throwing the error like " Name range violation : Name E1BP_PP_TIMETICKET not permitted in CUSTOMER system" .
But I need to generate the schema for this idoc. Is there any possibility to release this segment, if yes, please let me know the steps to process.
Awaiting for your reply.
Thanks and Regards
Praveen

Hi
In all the releases of SAP, including ECC 6.0, that segment not released. If I want to release it, how can I release it.

  • Release? while assigning Z Message Type to a Standard  SAP IDOC Basic type

    Hi Experts,
Am trying to assign a custom Message Type to a Standard SAP IDOC Basic type in WE82 transaction, but am not sure How to find the Release(last column of WE82 Tx)? Pls. let me know.
    Thank you

    Hello,
In case of IDOC, Go to Transaction WE30, type your IDOC name & select basic type & extension.
After that select Go to -> Header data (Shift+F7), you will Idoc header info. In the same pop-up you will find IDOC release for which version.

  • WCF-SAP Unreleased Segments

The adapter "WCF-SAP" raised an error message. Details "Microsoft.ServiceModel.Channels.Common.XmlReaderGenerationException: The segment or group definition E2IDB02003 was not found in the IDoc metadata. The UniqueId of the IDoc type is: IDOCTYP/3/PEXR2002//740.
For Receive operations, the SAP adapter does not support unreleased segments.
This is the error I get when the 2 segments below are in the SAP IDOC sent to BizTalk
Here is the Generated schema that I receive from SAP when I use the wizard.
Whenever I remove the segment from the SAP export the file processes successfully. I have been toying with this adapter a little over a week. When I remove the segment the message comes in as Typed XML and resolves to the proper schema.
When I change ReceiveIDocFormat to string and used xpath I get an error :
Reason: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
How can I modify the schema so that it matches what SAP is exporting? Every configuration I try has some type of error unless I remove the segments. Unfortunately the segments are important and cannot be removed from the final version. What are my options?

The actual problem is that the IDOC you are receiving is containing unreleased segments and that's not
supported, you should contact your SAP administrator to get this problem resolved.
Alternatively, you can refer to his link for the workaround http://geekswithblogs.net/PsudoKnowledgeBase/archive/2011/02/06/conversion-of-biztalk-projects-to-use-the-new-wcf-sap-adaptor.aspx
As mentioned in the link getting the raw xml data in string format is the only workaround within BizTalk.
The error Object reference not set to an instance of an object could be because your XPath expression may not be correct.

  • Restricting the segments in standard Idoc.

    Hi,
I am using a standard SAP message type ("ORDERS") and sending data to a Middleware system. All the required data is contained within 4 segments in the Standard Idoc ("orders05") .
Is there any way to ensure that the Standard Idoc only contains the four required segments when it is triggered by the standard system ?
    Thanks,
    Ankit.

  • IDOC trigger using Z change pointers for standard SAP table

For IDOC trigger, is using custom change pointers on standard SAP master data tables, a good idea? A seasoned abaper told me "it will mess with the standard" and further told to go with scheduled job.
So, for example, say that my data for table T001K is updated via transports in PRD and I need to transfer this updated data via IDOC to an external system. Since there is no standard message type for this data, I will create a new one. Further, I will create a new change pointer for table T001K (it already has six fields with their data elements activated for Change Documents). Then I link the message type and the new change pointer. And so on an so forth. I have followed the procedure given here:SAP Tips: A to Z of Custom Change Pointer
Now, the question is, will this be a good idea to capture data and trigger IDOC? Or a batch program with calls to standard FM to read CDHRD/CDPOS be a more suitable option.
I need to know if a near instantaneous data transfer (and an effecient one as far as the system performance and reliability is concerned) can be acheived. If there is any other way of doing this, I am not aware of it!
Any one has any input/experience on this?

    Hi Viktor,
I think the batch program approach would be a good solution as the by this way you are taking matter into your own hands rather giving control to the SAP framework because you may have to test out the other approach as to how the standard SAP framework is behaving for custom change pointers.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • Segment creation for outbound Idocs to non-SAP system

    Hi,
I need to create a custom idoc for outbound interface to a non-SAP system. Here I need to create segments. So, should I create the fields in the segment with the attributes of fields in non-SAP system or fields attributes should be of SAP system.
    For example:
There is a field invoice number which is of 10 Chars in SAP but in legacy it is divided into 2 fields: invoice prefix of 2 chars and invoice no. of 8 chars. Should my segment contain one invoice field of 10 chars or should it be two fields with 2 and 8 chars?
In general, always should the segment fields contain field attributes based on receiving system?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sriram.

    Hi
Should my segment contain one invoice field of 10 chars or should it be two fields with 2 and 8 chars?
I think it shoild be better to have 2 fields, but probably the result will be the same if you send the idoc by a text file, because both informations should be contiguos, I mean if you have file with a record like this:
    1234567890
This record can be obtained downloading a segment with 2 fields:
    FIELD1 = '12'
    FIELD2 = '34567890'.
    or single field:
    FIELD = '1234567890'.
So it'll be the same for tje target system
In general, always should the segment fields contain field attributes based on receiving system?
It depends on who has to convert the idoc to the right format for the target system
I mean you can create a "SAP" Idoc, so the receiving system will have to convert it to the right format
    or
you can send the idoc in the right format, so the receiving system doesn't need to convert it

  • Re: Cancelling of approval in standard SAP release strategy.

    Hello All,
At present the release strategy used by our client has the standard SAP strategy. The release strategy works fine for the approval part. The issue lies with withdrawal of approval.
At present when a lower level approver withdraws his approval, higher level approvals are withdrawn automatically. Our client requires that when a higher level approver has approved the doc, the lower level approver ( who has already approved the doc) should not be able to withdraw it.
i have looked around on SAP but i don't believe that standard SAP allows for a strategy for withdrawal of release. I believe this is a common requirement for many businesses. Could you please show me how to go about this. Should it be done through customizing. We do have a workflow in place.
If your business had the same requirement, how did you configure.
    Thanks for reading this.
    Regards,
    Soumyadeep Paul

    Hi,
I think you have configured you release matrix in such way that even higher level approver is dependent on the approval of the lower level approver.
In release prerequisite, don't set lower level approver's approval as a prerequisite for approval of higher level approver and then check. But this should be first discussed with the Business users and then only can be implemented.

To pick up release strategy for all value your value characteristic should read:
    >= 0
Meaning Greater than or = 0, even the release strategy will pick up PO's with 0 value in this case.

  • Standard SAP Program to clear IDocs

    Hi all,
IDocs transfer takes place between 2 of our R/3 systems.
But due to network issues, many IDocs get stuck and we have to manually clear them.
I want to know if there is any standard SAP Program to clear the IDocs, so that the program can be scheduled daily and thus the whole process can be automated.
    Sid

    Hi,
The IDocs can be processed directly (by selecting the Idoc and clicking on 'Process' button).
But my requirement is that I want to automate this process by a standard SAP program scheduled daily.
Also the note 40088 was not of much use as it talks about archiving the IDocs.

  • SAP IDOC

    Hi All,
I have few questions on SAP IDOC's
      1. If we are using Standard IDOC, then is it only the config or any coding is required to populate the IDOC. Examaple Order03
    2. If we Customize, then only customize fields needs to be populated or all the fields (SAP Standard and Custom fields)
    Thanks & Regards
    SM

    Hi
1.. If we are using Standard IDOC, then is it only the config or any coding is required to populate the IDOC. Examaple Order03
Have to do complete configuration in the system.if required very less code in the fun module can be written.
    see the below doc
    2. If we Customize, then only customize fields needs to be populated or all the fields (SAP Standard and Custom fields)
Only code has to be written for the population of the custome fields in the custom segments of the Idoc extension in the user exit of the idoc.
    Data Creation in Idoc
IDocs are text encoded documents with a rigid structure that are used to exchange data between R/3 and a foreign system. Instead of calling a program in the destination system directly, the data is first packed into an IDoc and then sent to the receiving system, where it is analyzed and properly processed. Therefore an IDoc data exchange is always an
asynchronous process. The significant difference between simple RFC-calls and IDoc data exchange is the fact, that every action performed on IDocs are protocolled by R/3 and IDocs can be reprocessed if an error occurred in one of the message steps.
While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to deliver data to the receiving system. ALE is basically the scheduling mechanism that defines when and between which partners and what kind of data will be exchanged on a regular or event triggered basis. Such a set-up is called an ALE-scenario.
IDoc is a intermediate document to exchange data between two SAP Systems.
*IDocs are structured ASCII files (or a virtual equivalent).
    *Electronic Interchange Document
*They are the file format used by SAP R/3 to exchange data with foreign systems.
*Data Is transmitted in ASCII format, i.e. human readable form
    *IDocs exchange messages
*IDocs are used like classical interface files
IDOC types are templates for specific message types depending on what is the business document, you want to exchange.
WE30 - you can create a IDOC type.
An IDOC with data, will have to be triggered by the application that is trying to send out the data.

An IDoc is simply a data container that is used to exchange information between any two processes that can understand the syntax and semantics of the data...
1.IDOCs are stored in the database. In the SAP system, IDOCs are stored in database tables.
2.IDOCs are independent of the sending and receiving systems.
3.IDOCs are independent of the direction of data exchange.
The two available process for IDOCs are
    Outbound Process
    Inbound Process
AND There are basically two types of IDOCs.
    Basic IDOCs
Basic IDOC type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems.
    Extended IDOCs
Extending the functionality by adding more segments to existing Basic IDOCs.
To Create Idoc we need to follow these steps:
    Create Segment ( WE31)
    Create Idoc Type ( WE30)
    Create Message Type ( WE81)
Assign Idoc Type to Message Type ( WE82)

    Try this..Hope this will help.
    >>>> SAP ALE & IDOC<<<<
    Steps to configuration(Basis) >>
    1. Create Logical System (LS) for each applicable ALE-enabled client
    2. Link client to Logical System on the respective servers
    3. Create background user, to be used by ALE(with authorizaton for ALE postings)
    4. Create RFC Destinations(SM59)
    5. Ports in Idoc processing(WE21)
    6. Generate partner profiles for sending system
    The functional configuration(Tcode: SALE)
    • Create a Customer Distribution Model (CDM);
    • Add appropriate message types and filters to the CDM;
    • Generate outbound partner profiles;
    • Distribute the CDM to the receiving systems; and
    • Generate inbound partner profiles on each of the clients.
Steps to customize a new IDoc >>>
    1. Define IDoc Segment (WE31)
    2. Convert Segments into an IDoc type (WE30)
    3. Create a Message Type (WE81)
    4. Create valid Combination of Message & IDoc type(WE82)
    5. Define Processing Code(WE41 for OUT / WE42 for IN)
    6. Define Partner Profile(WE20)
    Important Transaction Codes:
SALE - IMG ALE Configuration root
WE20 - Manually maintain partner profiles
BD64 - Maintain customer distribution model
BD71 - Distribute customer distribution model

  • Unreleashed segment issue with SAP schema

    Hi All,
We are trying to generate SAP schema in BizTalk 2010 and facing unreleased segment issue and discussed with SAP team whom suggested below ways. We were interacted with MSFT and no hotfix yet. Please guide me.
The provider/external should call IDOCTYPE_READ_COMPLETE in the following way:
    - PI_RELEASE = ' ' => last existing segment version is returned
    - PI_RELEASE not available in the interface => last released version
Which means: BizTalk needs to ensure the PI_RELEASE is not present in the call of the interface. This will allow pulling the last release version of the IDoc including not released segments.
Thanks, Raja MCTS BizTalk Server 2010, MCC If this answers your question please mark it accordingly

BizTalk does not support unreleased segments for Receive Operations.
As far as I know SAP 'locks' the segment types that have not been released and the LOB adapter of BizTalk cannot properly read those segments.
The SAP team should set a release on the IDOC types and segments you need.

  • Error while resetting release of segment

    Hi Experts,
We have one custom IDoc.I am trying to add new field to one of the segment. So i am trying to cancel release status of segment using we31.But i am getting error Error while resetting release of segment  ZXXXXX Message no. EA259 .I checked many of SDN threads but no where exact solution is mentioned for this.Current release for the message type is 701.so we are on same version now also.I put  a break-point in LEDIJF05 in form CHANGE_CLOSE_SEGDEF.i observed it is failing at line 625 and
can not unclose segment: release of last version is not SAP-version*.Can any body tell me what is the exact issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
If the SAP version and the version segment released last time is the same, then this problem should not occur. If you are still facing the issue, add a version to the existing segment. You should be able to add the new field then.

An IDoc is simply a data container that is used to exchange information between any two processes that can understand the syntax and semantics of the data...
1.IDOCs are stored in the database. In the SAP system, IDOCs are stored in database tables.
2.IDOCs are independent of the sending and receiving systems.
3.IDOCs are independent of the direction of data exchange.
The two available process for IDOCs are
    Outbound Process
    Inbound Process
AND There are basically two types of IDOCs.
    Basic IDOCs
Basic IDOC type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems.
    Extended IDOCs
Extending the functionality by adding more segments to existing Basic IDOCs.
To Create Idoc we need to follow these steps:
    Create Segment ( WE31)
    Create Idoc Type ( WE30)
    Create Message Type ( WE81)
Assign Idoc Type to Message Type ( WE82)

    Try this..Hope this will help.
    >>>> SAP ALE & IDOC<<<<
    Steps to configuration(Basis) >>
    1. Create Logical System (LS) for each applicable ALE-enabled client
    2. Link client to Logical System on the respective servers
    3. Create background user, to be used by ALE(with authorizaton for ALE postings)
    4. Create RFC Destinations(SM59)
    5. Ports in Idoc processing(WE21)
    6. Generate partner profiles for sending system
    The functional configuration(Tcode: SALE)
    • Create a Customer Distribution Model (CDM);
    • Add appropriate message types and filters to the CDM;
    • Generate outbound partner profiles;
    • Distribute the CDM to the receiving systems; and
    • Generate inbound partner profiles on each of the clients.
Steps to customize a new IDoc >>>
    1. Define IDoc Segment (WE31)
    2. Convert Segments into an IDoc type (WE30)
    3. Create a Message Type (WE81)
    4. Create valid Combination of Message & IDoc type(WE82)
    5. Define Processing Code(WE41 for OUT / WE42 for IN)
    6. Define Partner Profile(WE20)
    Important Transaction Codes:
SALE - IMG ALE Configuration root
WE20 - Manually maintain partner profiles
BD64 - Maintain customer distribution model
BD71 - Distribute customer distribution model

    BDM2 - IDoc Trace
    BDM7 - IDoc Audit Analysis
BD21 - Create IDocs from change pointers
    SM58 - Schedule RFC Failures
    Basic config for Distributed data:
    BD64: Maintain a Distributed Model
    BD82: Generate Partner Profile
    BD64: Distribute the distribution Model
    Programs
RBDMIDOC – Creating IDoc Type from Change Pointers
RSEOUT00 – Process all selected IDocs (EDI)
