Releation between fields and data element

Dear Abapers,
What is the relation between the fields and data element, while cretion of fields system will ask the data element, can we have one data element to more than one fields. Can you plese explain me.

data elements are structures defined in SAP Dictionary.
Fields you meen in a table? or in programs? in both places you create in reference to SAP Dictionary.
data element char20. TEXT20
Programs data: l_text type char20.
Tables ... field ZTEXT type CHAR20...TEXT20

DSO - What key fields and data fields in dso

Hi experts,
I need to create a dso in between the cube and 2 data sources(2lis_11_vaitm, 2lis_12_vcscl) to stage the data. My question is: what key fields and data fields to choose for the dso? is there a standard dso to copy? please explain in detail the model to set up, whether to connect both the ds's to dso and then to cube or one ds to dso and the other to the cube. more details will help.

Key fields and data fields in a DSO ??

i have a question regarding key fields and data fields in a Standard DSO...
i am using 2 datasources to build a open sales report 2LIS_11_VASTH and 2LIS_11_VASTI i am pulling in data from these 2 data sources to a DSO and i am wondering what infoobjects should be in the key fields and data fields .....does this reflect back to table VBUK and VBUP tables and does the key field in the DSO have to be the key fields in VBUK and VBUP tables ???? or what really should be included as key fields and data fields ????
please help....

If you look at the various SD tables, VBELN and POSNR are commonly used as the document number and document line item.
For VBAP and VBUP, it's referring to the Sales Order Line Item with the columns VBELN and POSNR as the key for both tables. However, if you look at the LIPS table, which is the Delivery Line Item table, it too has VBELN and POSNR as the key. Likewise, the VTTP table, which is the Shipment Line Item table, also has VBELN and POSNR as the key.
While using RSOSFIELDMAP as a map is a fairly good "rule of thumb", it still needs to be used with a level of skepticism.

Chart report Condition fields and Data fields

Hi all,
i have tried chart report by adding two condion fields and one data field, the report is more meaning full in this scenario. the first condition field is taken as x-axis, the 2nd condition fields is taken as legend.
while adding more condition fields and data fields, i feel its not showing meaningfull data.
can anyone explain how the condition fields and data fileds are manipulated by crystal report.
i am using CR XI R2 Server.

i am using Crystal Report XI R2 RAS Embedded in my server.
as we can add any number condition fields programatically using the method
ConditionField.Add(FieldObj), i would like to know how these fields are manipulated internally by the RAS server.
that means, what is the significance of condition fieldobject 1, condition fieldobject 2,condition fieldobject 3 etc...
if i add more than two condition fields , RAS Chart Report always returns 0 as legend value for all legends.

Identify key fields and data fields

i have datasource 0co_om_cca_9 .
i want build 1 DSO, how can i identify what are key fields and data fields to build DSO based on that datasource.

The DSO are like 2-D database tables.
We use the technical keys here in counterpart to the business keys in Infocubes.
The key fields are the one based on which the records are identified uniquely in the database table.
And the data fields are the ones which are aggrgated or summarised or overwritten based on the value in key filed.
For example:
The ID no.s of the employees will be unique and it can be used as a key field.
The feilds like the Salary taken by the employee every month :"SALARY"
and the no. of leaves they taken: " NO. OF LEAVES" can be used as data fields.
So that the salary or the leaves taken by a particular employee can be aggregated based on her/his ID no.
The key fields in DSO doesnty mean Key figures.The key field means any unique key or a key based on which the records are sorted in the DSO
And key figures are the data fields.Some of the Characteristics can also be data fields in DSO.
Please give points if u r satisfied wit the information

Defining Key -field and data fields

Hi all
i have to define Key-Fields and data-Fields for a DSO(say DSO3).
DSO1 is a combination of DSO2 and DSO3..
DSO1 and DSO2 are SAP defined DSOs.
DSO3 is a User defined DSO.
my assumption:
   DSO3 has 30 fields
   DSO2 has 16 fields.
   can i create the DSO3 with remaining 14 fields which is there in DSO1?
   or i have to create the DSO3 with 30 fields(all DSO1 fields).
can any body explain....

The problem is not how many fields you create where, the issue is where is the data is going to come from.
Since you data is going from DSO3 to DSO1and if the field is already getting populated in DSO1 from DSO2, then you don't have to worry about populating those fields again, unless and otherwise you want to overwrite them.
Remember any fields exist in both DSO3 and DSO2 which overlapping will be overwritten by the latest update.
Again, going back to your question, you should consider does your datasource has missing fields (14 of them).

EEWB : in CRM 4.0 adding field with data element = table type

I don't believe it is possible in CRM 4.0. Another drawback of the EEWB is that you can't add currency or quantity fields using the EEWB tool.

Sharing a folder between LR and PS Elements

Hi there-
Im pretty new to LR, and have been experimenting moving photos back between LR and PS Elements 7. I cant seem though to find a way to get them to 'share' a single folder, rather it seems I need to have the same RAW file in 2 places.
First I import my RAW files into LR, call it C:\Lightroom.
I work on the pictures in LR, and while changes are made, there is no boxcar file added to c:\Lightroom. I have no idea how LR tracks or stores the changes.
If I ask PSE 7 to import the files from c:\Lightroom, it will not recognize that any changes have been made, as there is no boxcar.
If I ask LR to export the photos to c:\Lightroom, it refuses to overwrite the source file, and doesnt include the boxcar.
I can ask LR to export to a different folder, call it c:\My Pictures. PSE7 can read those files with Boxcars fine. But any changes I make in PSE7 (for example I delete the file) will have no impact on LR, as those files are all in c:\Lightroom. And it does mean that each picture takes up twice as much space, one RAW file in c:\Lightroom and one in c:\My Pictures.
Is there any way both programs can effectively use the saw RAW file in the same folder, with a minimum of hassle?

That got me on the road, but now there seems to be another problem. In LR I now have a '?' in the upper right of the pciture which indicates 'sidecar file missing', and when I click on it its looking for the jpg, yet I dont think I ever created one, and I didnt see any in the folder before this.
All I had done after toggling the XMP on is open up the pictures in Elements (where they opened up fine) and deleted one of them. Not sure why LR is on about a JPG.

Link Between PSA and Data Targets

Hi Experts,
Could you please help me is there any table which will have PSA & data target (Cube or ODS) details.
I know the table which will have data target manage screen details and other table wil give the details like data loaded into till PSA.
But i want to know any SAP table will have link between PSA & data target.
I want to know if the request is loaded till PSA or it is loaded into data target.
Any table will give details like PSA request no, if target is there then some kind of flag like....
Please let me know if any one know the table which will have PSA as well as Data target details.

What is domain and dataelement.....diff b/w domain and data element

what is domain?
what is data element?
In one domain how many data elements are possible to used?
with out data element how can u create a table? explain briefly.

To clarify it little further the Data element and Domains are used in combination where similiar type of data fields are to be used with some more additional characteristics to each Data element.
For example consider creating a table which contains Employee details. The Columns Name1 and Name2 are to be of type char and length 40. There are 2 ways to do this,
1. You can assign the fields Name1 and Name2 directly to CHAR40(as the data element) in SE11. But this will make both the fields to have same characteristics with no difference among them.
2. The other way is to assign the columns Name1 and Name2 to seperate Data elements say DE_NAME1 and DE_NAME2. This method has tha advantage of adding further charectristics and labels to the data element. Hence in this case you can add a label "Name1" for the data element DE_NAME1 and "Name2" for data element DE_NAME2. And both these data element will point to the same domain CHAR40, hence length and type is same.

Description of field from data element in table control

hello people !!! I need help !!
Im using a table control in my module pool program. I create this table through wizard, taking the fields from an internal table. This internal table was defined like this:
Table Control ; posting items
DATA: t_postitems TYPE stucture_fd OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
Where stucture_fd is strucuture with the fields.
The problem that I have is that the titles of the fields does not take their description from the data element.
How I create this table control from the internal table and that takes the description from the data element? It is very important this, because this development will be used in different languages.

types: begin of ti.

data: ti_bkpf type table of ti,
wa_bkpf type ti.
Explicacion:
tab_prb, es una tabla transparent que contiene la estructura struct_fd que tiene los campos mas un flag para la seleccion de fila (flag).
Defini esta tabla transparente, para que los campos tomen su decripcion desde los elementos de datos.
Si creo el TB directo de la tabla tab_prb, no me permite seleccionar el campo flag como campo de seleccion, cuya funcion es marcar linea simple.
Si yo hago la definicion anterior en mi programa, cuando creo el TB, va todo bien, hasta ti_bkpf que seria mi tabla interna, pero cuando me pide el work area, le ingreso wa_bkpf me indica que no esta definido en mi programa o ne es una estrucutura.
Espero haber aclarado un poco mi respuesta.
