Reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

I can't seem to find the meaning of the following parameters when the sh int command is performed: reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255..
Can someone please shed the light on it?
Thanks.

It's kind of a rough scale of the condition of the interface.
Reliability 255/255= 100% up and reliable
128/255 = 50% up and not-so reliable
txload 1/255 = 0-4% of traffic is coming from transmitted info. 128/255 would mean 50%of traffic is coming from transmitted info.
rxload is the same as tx except it's received data.
These values are kind of a high level dashboard on what the intreface is doing in regards to traffic. EIGRP Metrics are designed to use the reliability information, but is rarely imlemented.
FROM CISCO
Reliability of the interface as a fraction of 255 (255/255 is 100 percent reliability), calculated as an exponential average over 5 minutes.
txload/rxload=Load on the interface as a fraction of 255 (255/255 is completely saturated), calculated as an exponential average over 5 minutes.

  • Cisco 6509 with Reliability 255/255, txload 238/255, rxload 8/255 interface

    Hi there,
I'm having an issue with my Cisco 6509. One of Internet configured as trunk Interface direct with a HP7500 is showing reliability 255/255, txload 238/255, rxload 8/255.
The Issue is that my Cacti Server show me that only 10% of the link is in use but if you look at txload you can see that almost 100% of the bandwidth is in use..
What can I do in order to figure out what's going on with this Interface.  I'm thing about to put wireshark and configure a port monitor in order to capture the packets.
Is anyone has any tip to do a troubleshoot with this issue??

  • Wireless slowed down, AP LAN interface txload 255/255

    Hello
Just built up a new office network, have 5 2602i controlled by a 5508 on FlexConnect local switching mode. One day ago when I tested my wirless, I can got full speed, about 40M, but today, after some 40-50 staff moved in, no configuration is changed, but I can only get 4-5M on speed test when connecting on wirless,  but at the same time when connected on cable number, still got full speed, so not an internet link issue.
I checked around, only odd thing I noticed, is that all my 5 APs LAN port, int g0, showed txload 255/255, alrought very low bps and pps on the port.

    Hi,
I haven't been able to find any documentation on CCo regarding this, but in my searching, I have come across the following MIb Object, which will tell you the input rate on the interface :
    .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.6
    locIfInBitsSec OBJECT-TYPE
        -- FROM     OLD-CISCO-INTERFACES-MIB
        SYNTAX          Integer
        MAX-ACCESS     read-only
        STATUS          Mandatory
DESCRIPTION    "Five minute exponentially-decayed moving                            average of input bits per second."
There is a similar object  locIfOutBitsSec (.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.8) for the output rate.
         To so rxload = 255 * locIfInBitsSec / (1000000 * ifHighSpeed )

  • AP1231G-A-K9 access points - very slow throughput - Is TKIP the issue?

I recently setup our small office network using the following setup:
Cablemodem <--> router <--> 1231AP(role root bridge with wireless clients) <-> 1231AP(role non-root bridge with wireless clients)
    Code on both APs: 12.3(8)JEE
Office network generally has less than 3 wireless clients connected at any one time to either AP.
AP's are a mere 50' apart; clients are all less than 30' from either AP; they all show excellent signal and connected at 54mbps signaling rates.
All is/has been working very well & very stable with the exception of speed. We have business class service from RR, approx 25mbps dl, 2mbps ul. Any hardwired client to the router switch ports are able to download at speeds averaging 23mbps. Any wireless client connected to either AP is never able to exceed download speeds of 5mbps. With no other wireless clients connected except my one test client, I was not able to exceed 5mbps throughput from either AP that I connected to.
I can confirm that the ethernet connection between the router and root bridge is up at 100mbps-FD and not showing any errors:

Are these very slow thoughput speeds normal of this hardware combination?
I did much searching/googling and found claims that by eliminating TKIP it almost doubles the actual wireless speeds our clients can obtain. Is there any truth to this?
Any suggestions or recommendations without changing hardware would be very welcome.
    Thanks in Advance!

    =============

Ok, thanks for the explanation - I understand. But even at a 22mbps signaling rate shouldn't I be seeing throughputs greater than 5-5.5mbps especially since this location is literally 100% free of any outside interference and the interfaces definitely show the clients and non-root bridge (when connected) all being at the highest rate of 54mbps? I tried even in the same room, approximately 40' away, total line of sight, no obstructions, between my laptop and the root AP.
I disconnected the non-root bridge and connected directly to the root bridge during my testing. I was still only able to achieve approx 5.5mbps download. Adding back in the non-root bridge and re-connecting to it I notice slightly lower throughput, approx 5mbps. During testing, my laptop was the only device connected to the network, all other clients were shut off.

Do you know if the AP's will associate if there is zero encryption?

  • Lan connectivity Issue on autonomous AP with throttles

              Hello,
I encounter a strange problem on several AP 1242 in version 12.4(25d)JA1 of a customer :
He has 10 autonomous AP covering a factory and is using them for laptop connectivity and TOIP with mainly 7921 Cisco Wifi Phones.
The phones are configured to use only 802.11a.
The APs loose LAN connectivity randomly and therefore the clients don't work anymore.
The AP are connected on a 2960 and a 3560 wich are in turn connected on a 3750 wich route the trafic.
After checking spanning-tree no loops are present.
When I check the counters on the AP involved I see the "trhottles" and "ignored" counters incrementing on the fa0 link of the AP impacted wich mean I think it can't handle the incoming traffic. This incoming traffic seems not to be too big however. I can see drops on the switch interface connecting the AP.
There is a lot of roaming on the AP due to people walking in the factory with their wifi phones.
Here is a view of the fa0 counters :

Does someone ever experienced a similar problem ?
When I shut radio interfaces they're is no more problems on the LAN. Can this be an overlapping coverage issue ?
Can someone please give me advices on how to troubleshoot this issue ?
Thank you in advance as I'm a bit stuck.
    Best Regards,

         Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your reply.
Do you think this can be the origin of the issue my customer encounters or is it only to be standard ? As this change will have to be made on all clients, if there is a chance it solves the problem I will do it ASAP, if not I will delay it in a less busy period :-)
Can the constant roaming associations and dissasociations overload the AP and make it stop responding on the LAN or is it only a throuhput problem ?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
    Best Regards,

  • AIR-AP1142N-A-K9 configuration issue for guest ssid

I'm trying to get the guest ssid working.  I was frustrated so saved my old config and wiped out everything on this AP.  Now my bvi1 does not come online.

I have a private vlan 50 and the public vlan 51.  The private ssid seems to work and allow connectivity to the internet but I don't understand with the same configuration the Public ssid doesn't seem to work.
I get this output when trying to connect with my cell phone.

This is true for all other vlans except for native vlan. For native vlan sub-interfaces bridge group number always should be 1. In your case, if vlan 50 is the native vlan (192.168.2.x/24 belong vlan) then configure bridge-group 1 under those .50 sub-interfaces. Then everything should work :)
It is ideal if you could put AP management (BVI IP) into separate vlan & two user groups put vlan 50 & 51. Here is a sample configuration where vlan 110 is Mgmt & vlan 12,13 for user vlans.

  • Jabber on all phone ports

All of my 3560 ports connected to phones (7940/42/60/70/71) are showing continuous 50pps output towards the phones. I've turned off GARP but still no improvement.
Although most of these phones have PC's attached, the data VLAN is not affected.
I can't get an ethereal until tomorrow but on the off chance anyone has seen this before ?
Here's a sh int from an affected interface :-

    Hi,
I had the similar problem like you now.
The problem was in Microsoft Load Balansing.
The Microsoft guys have tried to do load balansing but it didn't work and there was a lot of multicat packets in that VLAN.
After we have removed these servers, everything was OK.
    Maybe this can help you?
    Regards,
    Vlaho

  • Setting up Multiple SSID's & VLAN

I have a Cisco 1230 AP along with a Sonic Wall TZ 210 and a Linksys SFE 2010P switch. On my AP I have created 2 SSID's. and 2 VLAN's. The first SSID is being broadcasted and has WPA encryption on it for our Corporate USers. The Second SSID is a Guest SSID and too is being broadcasted. I can make a laptop connect to the 1st SSID, but for some reason the 2nd SSID nothing will connect to it.  The first SSID is associated to VLAN1 and the 2nd SSID is associated to VLAN2. VLAN1 has WPA encryption on it. VLAN2 is setup as Open and no Encryption. Any ideas?
My next question is how to I configure traffic on this AP with the other equipment mentioned? On my sonicwall we have segmented port6 on it to be a different subnet from the corporate subnet. On the Linksys switch I have enable VLANS on port2 and port48 which are on VLAN2. All other ports are on VLAN1. The AP connects to Ports 2 on the linksys switch and port 48 connects to port 6 on the Sonic Wall. When a corporate user connects to SSID1 I want them to be able to connect to the Corporate subnet. When a guest connects to SSID2 I want them to connect to the segmented guest network to only have Internet Access.
    Hope this makes sense!
Below is my config on the AP. I am really only familiar with the IOS web interface so if you can explain it using that I'd appreciate it.

    Hi,
if you remove "encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip" from the radio interface does it help?
    it should remain like this:
    interface Dot11Radio0
    no ip address
    no ip route-cache
encryption vlan 1 mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip
    ssid WLAN_Corporate
    ssid WLAN_HartKitGuest
    HTH,
    Tiago

Why can't Io ping from the HOME router to the OFFICE router?

I fugured this problem out.  I needed to setup PKI/IKE and once that was done on both routers, my tunned now passes some data.

  • Speed negotiation settings for a 10G interface

    HI,
    We have the following setup:
2 ports of CISCO 6509(also has xfp long range)  switch connected to 2(XAUI) ports of SPARC box T5220.
When the SPARC box goes for a reboot, the link is UP at XAUI while ports are down at CISCO end.
However either of the following brings the link up.
    . shut/no shut at 6509 or
. unplug and replug the cable.
No speed negotiation is configured at XAUI.
I would like to know if 10G CISCO 6509  by default has autonegotiation on?
From the document "Configuring and Troubleshooting Ethernet 10/100/1000Mb Half/Full Duplex Auto-Negotiation"
    I found the following line
"By default, all devices are supposed to perform autonegotiation. 802.3z       does not specifically define a way to turn Autonegotiation off, for both       1GigabitEthernet and 10GigabitEthernet."
    Im seeing the following situation:
"Assume that there are two devices, A and B. Assume that each device can       have Autonegotiation enabled, or disabled. The correct behaviour of link status       with autonegotiation in accordance to the IEEE Std 802.3z-1998 should be like       this:
If A is disabled and B is enabled, then A should report link up and B           should report link down."
Does it apply to 10 G inetrfaces also?
PFB the config output of CISCO 6509

    Justin,
Thanks very much for the tip!
Do you know if Oracle 10g has any kind of built-in tool for editing data? I have heard of "The Vault", but that appears to be a tool for administering database users, reports, etc. I am looking for some kind of tool that shows the data in a grid layout (like Microsoft Excel) and allows someone to edit and save data in that grid. A web-based tool would be best, but a desktop tool (especially if it's already part of Oracle 10g) would also be good.
    Thanks again,
    Rachel

  • Nexus 5000 - Odd Ethernet interface behavior (link down inactive)

    Hi Guys,

    - We have a server connected to a 2, Nexus 5000s (for resiliancy)
    - When there is no config on the ethernet interfaces whatsoever, the ethernet interface is UP / UP, there is minimal amount of traffic on the link etc. E.g.
    Ethernet1/16 is up

    - This behavior is seen on both 5Ks
    - I've tried using a different set of ports, changed SFPs, and fibre cabling to no avail
    - I can't seem to understand this behavior?!  In that, why would configuring the port cause the link to go down?
    - If anyone has experience this before, or could shed some light on this behavior, it would be appreciated.

    I had identical issue
Two interfaces on two different FEXes were INACTIVE. I have two Nexus 5596 in vPC and A/A FEXes.
    I also use config-sync feature.
Very same configuration was applied to other ports on other FEXes and they were working with no problems.
    interface Ethernet119/1/1
      inherit port-profile PP-Exchange2003
I checked VLAN status associated with this profile and it was active (of course it was, other ports were ok).
I solved it by removing port profile from this port and re-applied it... voila, port changed state to up!
    Very very strange.

  • No connectivity - ports up and down?

I have a 2950 switch which we use to for connectivity to VOIP phones and terminals/pcs on the floors. At random times during the day maybe twice 2-3 hour span, we lose connectivity between two of the terminals and our server which is connected to the switch. When I say "lose connectivity" I mean the terminal is unable to reach our server(we have desktop vitalization) that hosts the virtual hosting software. All the terminals have static IP addresses assigned. The ports on the switch show no activity what so ever - at one stage I did see did an amber light blink every 2-3 seconds .This happened on the terminals that could not connect, but that has not repeated itself. Below I have included a sh int of a port that is currently down. The port could be down most of the day and then start working all of a sudden!
I don't know if a problem with the switch or port or communication with the server. Out of all the 12 terminals we have 10 of them have no problem connecting to the server through the same switch. When pinging from my pc to any of the two statically assigned IPs  - host unreachable is returned.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Collin,
attached is the brief for the port been up...I can see  that it is up and blinking green however on the terminal the screen is  in a "frozen" state. When I rebooted the terminal it is trying to connect to the server - again the port is blinking green.

  • SSH and Ping to WAN IP not working correctly.

    Hey all!
I've run into an issue that i cant seem to figure out. For some reason i can't SSH to my router, and i also cant ping the WAN IP addresses, which i need for my monitoring service. This ones got me stuck so any help is very much appreciated. Here is my sanitized config. Thanks!
