I have bought Iphone 5 in december 2012 and enjoyed for few months. After some time due to crazy updates and incompetent hardware to handle software updates my phone is screwed up in multiple ways 1. Battery get drained so fast 2. Phone get hot when just use for taking 3. Get hanged so frequently when
a) call comes (not able to accept call) b) when going to setting or say in calender or contact list.
Most of the time I use my phone for calling purpose instead for video streaming. I never thought to approach Apple and find any solution.
some time back I come to know that Phone 5 battery get recalled so thought why not to stop by to apple store. I took appointment of Naperville IL genius store and ask for battery replacement and shared existing issues. He changed battery that what he told and restore phone.
Now 10 days are passed and my phone is going crazy, my phone's battery get drained by 5 PM however battery was 100 charged in morning and used phone for 15-20 minutes and my location service was off thought a day.
Today reached out Lora S (Senior Advisor at Apple customer care) and shared crazy solution-
1. Format phone again, when asked will she replace the phone if problem persist she shared examples such if you buy new car will you get warranty after 3 years). Here I am getting unreliable patches so called said security updates and finally phone get screwed up. No Car company updates master chip and say hey we forget to put screws in seat belt.
2. Pay $260 and get Iphone 5 as replacement of existing phone.
Friends please advise what should I do
1. Pay hard money $260 and get same model phone
2. Restore phone and if problem persist, keep patience and call apple multiple times and waste time in calls/apple stores
3. Ask for same IOS when it was purchased in December 2012 (Looks like it was not error creating)
4. Always buy apple care and be ready for testing done by Apple IOS on time to time basis and don't forget to share feedback so that they can build better products. After all we have to behave as customer and honest tester.
5. Keep Away from Apple product and share good experiences.

Restore the iPhone from backup.
If that does not help, then restore as new.

IPod Touch 4G with 4.3.1 iOS update does NOT seem to work with WEP

I have a new wireless router (1 month old) with current firmware that I have set up with WEP (I know, not great but also have some older laptops that need it). Before the iPod iOS update, everything worked reliably all the time, but after the update "Unable to join the network XXXXXXXX" message was displayed. Post update, iPod works fine on other "public" networks.
So far the only workable solution I have been able to come up with is adding a 2nd unsecured SSID (router will support up to 4) with no broadcast and access limited to the iPod MAC address. If any of the WiFi experts here have other suggestions, I would sure welcome them. Thanks.

WEP and Apple products are only somewhat compatible - as you are finding out. If you create your own passwords, then you have to follow specific rules - 48 bit, 5 characters, 128 bit, 14 characters. Shorter or longer, the password won't work.
If you are stuck with WEP (I'd update the laptops with a USB wireless stick before I used WEP, but that's your decision) try the following:
1. Use the 128 bit setting
2. Either create a 14 character password or use WEP key 1 (that's the hex key) in place of your password on the touch.
You could set up a second wireless access point and, as long as it used a different SSID, setup to run WPA2-AES encryption. That would take care of your modern devices.

Download integrity of iOS updates

So, when you are using iTunes to download and install iOS updates, how reliable are those updates..especially if you are on spotty wifi, etc.
If itunes completes the download and processes it, how confident can you be that updated file is good?

so you are both saying that if I plug in an iOS device, choose the download only option (as I usually do a seperate install later), iTunes will verify the integrity or the iOS device will (or both).
I ask because, at times, I get some pauses in downloading these updates in iTunes (not me, just network business I guess) and wanted to make sure I didn't need to delete and re-download.

After the new iOS update on my phone, my iTunes on my MAC will not sync. The error message I receive says I need to update iTunes, but it's already updated to the last version and there are no updates available when I go thru the iTunes menu. HELP!

Apple fans. Don't fret. I struggled with this since Saturday when I got my new phone. im pretty tech savvy with a background in computers and I'm a mechanic by trade so i generally know how things work and figure out anything. After trying everything you all have probaby tried as well I did some comparisons to my wife's phone. I paid all three of our cars to her phone easily. One is a Honda hand free link, the other a Hyundai sonata system and the last a pioneer aftermarket Bluetooth with streaming,avrcp etc. after her iPhone 6 128gb connected and worked flawlessly, I narrowed the problem down to my phone specifically. It's not the phone, it's not the ios8, it's not your car. It's your settings. All I did was reset network settings and bam. Problem fixed. You see I messeed with a bunch of stuff in the beginning trying to avoI'd data overage and must have turned something off by mistake. Another theroy I have is my iPhone 5 setting were copied over in the process of migration and they were maybe incompatible with the iPhone 6 itself. Either way post back and let me know if this helps

My iPod Touch is no longer charging since iOS update

Hi, so I have three iPod chargers, and as far as I know, they should both work perfectly fine. One is super old, I've had it since my first second generation iPod Nano, and one is practically brand new, I've had it for a few months. The new one and the middle one are both store bought chargers, non apple brand, and whenever I try to charge my iPod with these chargers, the same error message comes up, saying that charging is not supported with this accessory. All I can think is, they worked perfectly fine until the latest iOS update. Now, neither are charging my iPod, and I have to use my old iPod charger from my old Nano. This would all be fine if (a) that charger wasn't falling apart with electrical tape holding it together and (b) it wasn't shared with my mother. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem with store bought chargers. No way do both of these chargers just decide to stop working around the same time. I'm just wanting to know because I don't want to find out Apple created a new thingy in their update that stops non-apple accessories from working. (They already did that so that my car charger never worked with my new iPod).
Oh, and in case it matters, my iPod is the iPod Touch 4 (bought just a couple months before the iPod Touch 5 came out, so I think it's a 4s).

Does it charge on a computer? Does it appear in iTunes?
If so:

TS1702 I've done recent iOS update on IPad (2nd gen) and now game center will not open. and when I attempt to contact support it tells me that I need current safari browser, yet when I plug in it tells me all is up to date????????

I have synced 4 times and turned IPad on and off several times. when I try to connect to Apple support it tells me that i must have current safari browser. Go back to the previous page. If there's no available wireless networks listed except "Other" which is manually putting the wireless network information, see if you have "activate using cellular" or "connect to iTunes" option.

hi hello i have a problem my i phone 4 has locked itself with a picture of a usb connector and an arrow pointing to the blue i tunes symbol and it wont reset or unlock or sync or do anything at all .
the problem started when i downloaded the new ios update on the 15/5/2012 and it looked like it was working and then froze for no reason and left me a warning note saying it hadnt completed and the phone has been frozen ever since

A Restore first downloads a new copy of iOS to your computer. On a slow Internet connection this can take a long time. How fast is your connection? How long would you expect it to take to download 900 MB?
That's assuming nothing is interfering with the download. Some firewalls and antivirus programs will block the download or slow it down. So you should temporarily disable your security software. Security software can also block the update after the iOS download is complete.

My mail will not open up after doing the latest iOS update.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.
