Relinking files in many subfolders

Does anyone know how to relink files that are in multiple folders at once?
My scenario.
I was linked to a hard drive that died. But like a good girl I have backed up my indesign files, images and graphics. My problem is that they are in multiple folders with multiple subfolders. So all links come up missing and when I relink I only get the additional 2-3 images that are in that folder. I have 600+ images to relink. Is there anyway for indesign to relink to a parent folder and ask it to relink to all the subfolders included? I can't rename the server to my hard drive name to fool it either.

If the folder structure is identical, but the volume name is different, they yes, you can do it. Re-link just one file, and note its name. Now export to .idml (or .inx if using CS3 or lower). Open that file in a text editor and find the links by searching for the name of both the file you fixed and any other file, Note the difference in the paths and use Search and Replace in your text editor. Save, then open that file back into InDesign.
Here I have opened an .inx file in TextEdit and highlighted the path and filename of one of the links.

I need to batch rename and relink files in indesign

I have a whole bunch of files that I need to rename ( I need to add a prefix on to the front eg. a whole group of files called "plan.jpg" 01.jpg, 02.jpg, etc... need to now read ORD_plan.jpg, ORD_01.jpg, etc...) I can batch rename the files in adobe bridge, but I have to go in one by one and re-connect the links. Is there a script which can batch rename and relink all the files?

This biterscripting script may possibly help. It takes two input arguments.
directory - directory under which the .jpg files are located
prefix - prefix which will be added to each file's name

This is the way you would use it - copy and paste the script code into file C:/Scripts/RenameJpg.txt, then enter this command into biterscripting.
script "C:/Scripts/RenameJpg.txt" directory("C:/test") prefix("ORD_")
It will rename C:/test/plan.jpg to C:/test/ORD_plan.jpg, C:/test/01.jpg to C:/test/ORD_01.jpg, etc.
Important: I am using the 'system copy' command so that files are copied instead of renamed. Once you are happy with the test, you can change that command to 'system rename'.
Also, if the .jpg files are within subfolders of C:/test, change the 'find -n' to 'find -r -n'. -r means recursive = search in subfolders. Syntax for the find command at http://www.biterscripting.com/helppages/lf.html

Merging content of many subfolders into one?

Hello, first of all, i'd like to say that english is not my native language so i may not be really precise with my words.
I'd like to know if there's any way (via Finder, Terminal, or some external app) to merge the content of many subfolders that belong to the same folder.
For illustrative porpuse, say i have:
Files/FolderA / file1
Files/FolderB/ file2, file 3, file 4
Files/FolderC/ file5, file 6 and so on
And id like to copy (or cut, it would be the same way for me) all those Files (file1,file,2 ... file 6) into just ONE common folder.
(Having "Files/file1,file2,file3... file6")
Of course i know you can just do it manually, but when you have like 40 subfolders, it would really save a lot of time in my workflow.

Final Cut Pro X Error in relink file

Final Cut Pro X. I have a problem: I can not relink the original files of a project that I've moved on an external hard drive. After finishing the work, I run a copy of the project following the procedures of Final Cut Pro X, but now that I reserve that project at the time to reconnect the file, it gives me this error "Incompatible file. The original file and new files have different audio source and channel counts. Relinked files must have the same media type and similar audio channels as the original files, and must be long enough to cover all the clips That reference the files ". The other times I had done this, it made me work quietly. Is the first time that happens to me. What has happened? How can I fix the problem?
My version of Final Cut Pro X is 10.1.3, and my operating system is OS X Maveriks 10.9.5.

Hello,
We are using XML publisher with eBS.
As part of it, we've got treatments that generate invoices.
One treatment produces 1 big XML file with many invoices in it.
Currently, this big XML file generates one big PDF file with all the invoices.
I'd like to know if it's possible to keep the big XML file (with many invoices), and instead, generate 1 PDF file per invoice ?
Basically we would like to split the big PDF file into small PDF, one PDF file per invoice .
If it's possible, then, how can we do it ?
I hope my explanation is clear.

Sorry, but there is nothing you can do about it. There's no place where you could create "another account" that would give you any greater access to media. The content owners do not allow cross-border sales, so you cannot open an account in another country's iTunes Store. So until such time as Apple is able to obtain the necessary licensing and decides that it's practical to open an iTunes Store on your country, I'm afraid that you will not be able to purchase music, videos, or movies from an iTunes Store.
There is only one possibility for you: if what you're looking for are only podcasts, you may be able to find the podcast you want directly from a web site. Apple doesn't host the podcasts, they only link to them, so the podcast you want may be available from another source. You'll have to do a web search and see if the podcast turns up.

Relink files to pluraleyes xml file

Hi, I'm a videography student working in a team, and we are having some problems with filesharing. We have done a bunch of multi-camera shooting, and synched most of the clips in FCPX with multicam. For some reason the multicam clip for one interview didn't work, though (This is one long audio file, with multiple video files from two different cameras), so my partner synched it in pluraleyes and sent me the xml file. When I imported the xml file I got a string of error messages saying that "the item could not be read." Looking at the file paths in the error messages I saw that they were for my partner's hard drive, so I figured I just needed to relink the original video/audio files, which are all on my hard drive and already imported to FCPX. However, when I click on the clip or the event and go to file-->relink files, the "locate" button is grayed out. I'm totally confused and don't know what went wrong. Any ideas?

Hi, thank you so much for responding! I realized you're right, of course I can't relink the multicam itself, but I don't see how to relink them with the angle editor. It doesn't show clips in red--the angles are simply black, empty. I'm actually not sure how to see the individual clips at all in the angle editor, because each angle contains multiple clips in sequence. (Because the cameras would only record 20 minutes at a time, and this was a long interview.)

How to relink files inside an avchd package ?

I messed up a library and lost a project, then I found a copy of it in the backup folder, now when I open the project it asked me to relink files, but a part of them are inside an avchd package. How to relink those files ?

Safari Bookmarks problem: Too many subfolders, not enough time!

Hi people,
My bookmarks were imported from IE. I have many main folders with many subfolders in each: thus I have always had my bookmarked information very organized and I know where to find anything, by category.
However now I'm using Safari on my new MacBook. When I want to add a new bookmark, I click the Bookmarks drop-down menu. I click "Add Bookmark..." A box displays that allows me to enter two things: the name of the bookmark, and the folder I want to enter it into. Then, clicking on the arrows next to the folder list, hundreds of folders come up in a huge fast-scrolling stream. Not main folders that I can see at a glance, but ALL of my folders, at once! This is a mess. Finding my main folders takes scrutiny and fiddling, and when I'm trying to work this is a huge distraction.
It's a visual organization problem: there seems to be no way to CHOOSE which folders I want to display. Safari simply displays ALL of my folders AND subfolders at once. To sort my new bookmark I must scroll through every single folder, (the scroll-speed makes this difficult, and the size of the icons and the tab-indents require leaning and squinting.) Alternatively I can save it in the bookmark bar, then open the bookmark window, then move the new bookmark elsewhere, step by step by step. This is tedious and distracting.
So can somebody please help me learn to do the following?
I want to find a way to display only the main category folders in the Add bookmark dropdown menu. I can choose from there which subfolders I want to open, and I don't want every single folder to show. Is there a way to do this??
If not, is there at least a way to change the color, text, or image of the main folders so that I can locate them easily within the huge list??
If I can not organize my bookmarks the way I need them using Safari as my main browser becomes an ordeal. I was VERY happy to switch from IE, but this is very discouraging. To continue using it I would have to come up with a completely new organiztional system and reorganize my nearly 3000 bookmarks.

Welcome to Apple Discussions
Rather than using the Bookmarks drop-down menu, perhaps using the Bookmarks Manager might be an easier approach. To access the Bookmarks Manager, click the "book icon" on the left of the Bookmarks Bar (if you haven't done so, the Bookmarks Bar is enabled in View Menu>Show Bookmarks Bar, or Apple Key/Shift/B).
When you click on the book icon (or Apple Key/Option/B), a back screen appears showing your various Bookmark collections and History on the left, and the detail inside each collection on the right (clicking on a collection reveals its contents). You can drag the current URL from the Address window down into the folder, which is a faster way to navigate through the Bookmarks. There, you can also create folders etc.
Go to the Safari Help menu>Safari Help or Apple Key/Shift/? and type Bookmarks. Additional information is provided about how to manage your bookmarks.
Lastly, 3rd party software exists as an alternative to Safari's Bookmarks. One popular one is URL Manager Pro. Personally, I find Safari's manager sufficient, however, this is something you may want to consider.

is there a way to relink files in batch? I have 1500 red files to relink. It would be nice if FCP would search through a folder and localize the files - I don't want to have to find them one by one. Any ideas?

Someone knows about Relink files on FCP X?
I just move the files accidentally and when move back FCP X did not recognize.
Help pleaseeee.

Import the file in again to the Events.
Then at the timeline where you have the red color icon, right click & select "OPEN TIMELINE",
Then drag the ealier file that you imported into the new open timeline. As you place in, there will be a new menu pop-up, you select, replace all. By doing this, all your in point & out-point remains.
