Reload Access Points after enabling broadcast of SSID

Hi, we've created a SSID, which is not being broadcasted. Now I would need to enable broadcast of the SSID-so my question is: how will the access points act after enabling it? Will they reboot automatically?? Or do they even need to be rebooted?
Thanks!
KR

for broadcast a ssid , there is no need for reload.
what you need for broadcast:
mbssid guest-mode <– Only required multiple SSID to be broadcast.
If it is only single SSID this needs to be “ ssid guest-mode”!

  • Cisco Access Point is not Broadcasting

    Hello ,
one of my Access Point is showing up in WLC but not broadcasting .
    any Idea Please advice.

    Hi Islam,
In WLC GUI ( go to Wireless tab) & select the AP
    1. Check the "Admin Status" of the AP. It should be enable
    2. Advanced setting page of AP, "AP Group name" set to be correct ap group. If you haven't create any additional ap groups it should be in "default-group"
    3. Also check in the interface tab of the AP configuration both radio 0 & radio 1 interface Operation Status is UP

  • Help with N97 and Access points after V20 upgrade

    Hi Guys,
I'm hoping someone can help me - I have an 505 uk unit and have changed to a generic euro product code to get the V20 software ( as theres a 2 week wait minimum for the network to release its custome version ) and its working brilliantly - except - in connections all my accesspoints have gone - I now show 13 uncategorised access points which I cant expand or open and it wont let me delete the lot as it says its protected Anyone able to sort this out and tell me what to do so I can get back to Internet and Contract WAP etc... destinations?
    Much Appreciating any help.
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
I am not sure what kind of applications are preloaded in your location.  I suppose the problem you faced is unable to delete certain definitions under the Destinations setting?
If a hard reset is not an option (not for me as I have purchased apps from the OVI store), I would create a dummy Destination to house all these unwanted definitions.  That way, so long as the default connection does not utilize this dummy Destination, I think you are OK.  Hope this helps.

  • Cisco 1131AG Access Point won't broadcast

Can someone tell me what I did wrong here? I only added two additional ssid's and now the unit won't broadcast any of them.

OK, Back working. Switch 1 must have reloaded and I did not have it saved.
I ripped out radius stuff and looks like it is working on all vlans now. Here’s the rub. If you look at my drawing I have an existing 1811 that controls all vlans except 7 and 8. I want this new router to control 7 and 8. So the AP’s allow access and get IP’s from 1st router (1811) for vlans 1 thru 6 and the ap’s allow access and get ip’s for vlans 7 and 8 from router 2.
As I look at this I need to make sure vlan1 is not assigning ip address space from both routers. Also, I am wondering how to allow association on vlan 7 and 8 apart from radius which looks to be used for vlan1 thru 6.
Thanks again for all your help!

  • Cisco 1142n Access Point

    Hi,
I was planning on deploying a couple of 1131AG access points in a standard multiple SSID, multiple VLAN configuration, however, I'm now looking at deploying a single 1142n access point instead.
In our environment we will have 11g, 11a/g and 11n clients. My questions is, in a mixed environmentlike this will the 11n clients be able to take full advantage of the speeds offered by 11n or will they be limited because the AP will have to run in mixed mode?
    Thanks
    Alyas

    Hi Alyas,
What speed is your uplink?  10/100 or 1Gb?  The 1140 has one (1) 1Gb ethernet link.  To enable 802.11n, you need to configure WPA2/AES and channel bonding.
Other things to look at are the following:
    1.  Client saturation per AP - How many clients are concurrently associated to ONE AP?  The higher the number the lower the wireless speed.  Cisco recommends no more than 25 clients per AP is ideal.
    2.  Client WLAN NIC and drivers - Are the drivers up-to-date?  Do they support 802.11n?
    3.  The distance of the client from the AP - The further the client(s) are from the AP the lower the speed.  The signal strength should be no more than -65 dBm (lower the better) and the signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) should be 25 dBm (higher the better).
    4.  What type of traffic?  Unicast, multicast or broadcast?
    5.  Obstacles between the AP(s) and clients - Are there any concrete/cinder block/brick walls?  Elevator shafts?  Fire escape?  Wooden or gyprocks are OK.
    6.  Radio interference - Other APs transmitting in the same channel as you.
I'd recommend a wireles site survey but with one or two APs it's not worth it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need to disable AP mode multicast in 1231 series access point

    Hi
I have one controller 2504 and some 1200 series access points.I am using 3 SSID .I want to use two ssid in HREAP mode but HREAP mode is not showinh in access point because multicast is enabled on AP mode. Please see the below picture
I have disabled the multicast globally from CLI.
    config network multicast global disabled
Please help me in disabling the multicast so that i can set the access point in HREAP mode.
    Thanks ....

    Hi George
I have found a document in which it is mentioned which platform are supported..
These are the restrictions to remember while you use H-REAP.
Hybrid REAP is supported only on the 1130AG, 1140, 1240, 1250, 1260,           AP801, AP 802, 1040, and AP3550 APs and on the Cisco WiSM, Cisco 5500, 4400,           2100, 2500, Flex 7500 Series Controllers, the Catalyst 3750G Integrated           Wireless LAN Controller Switch, and the Controller Network Module for           Integrated Services Routers.
But why it is giving an remark on controller tab that multicast is not supported with HREAP on this platform ?
Is this the limitation of cisco 2504 controller or the limitation of 1231 access point ?
Does that mean i can use my SSID in HREAP mode if i am using 1231 series access point ?
    Thanks...

  • 1142 Access Point - DHCP trouble

    Hi there,
I am setting up an autonomous 1142 Access Point. The intended goal is to get it accessible though 2 SSIDs:
Private: VLAN3 (our internal data VLAN)
    Guest: VLAN98 (our DMZ/Segregated VLAN)
At present, our VLAN3/internal users get DHCP addresses from x2 Windows DHCP servers. Eventually, the DMZ VLAN connections will get their IP addresses from a switch in our DMZ VLAN.
At the moment, I am able to authenticate with the Access Point through the VLAN 3 SSID but never get an IP address. I have posted the switch port config below as well as the Access Point config. I'm a newbie on these devices so any help would be greatly appreciated:
    **SWITCH PORT CONFIG**
    interface FastEthernet0/10
description IT Office Wireless Access Point
    switchport trunk native vlan 3
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 3,98
    switchport mode trunk
    speed 100
    duplex full
    spanning-tree portfast
    spanning-tree bpduguard enable
    **AP Config**
Attached to the post as quite wordy

    Hi Danny,
You have a native vlan mismatch between the AP and the switch. The switchport has vlan 3 defined as the native, but it is not defined as native on your AP.
You will simply want to add the keyword native at the end of the following line under your .3 subinterfaces:
    encapsulation dot1Q 3 native
On another note, to take full advantage of the 1140 series AP with 802.11n connections, you will need to use WPA2 with AES encryption:
encryption vlan x mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip
This will allow use of both WPAv1/TKIP and WPAv2/AES

how to get that Access point configured for application ?
    Please Help.
    Thanks in Advance

    Thanks for the reply.
I had readded the access points after phone reset, so they are available under internet destination but none of the apps are able to see them.
I also saw 3-4 processes listed under panic tab in KillMe application, not sure if being inside panic tab means that the processes crashed, i hope it's not a hardware related problem.

  • Photosmart c309a can't find access point to Mac Mavericks OS

I've owned probably ten HP printers.  I've been thru five of them in five years and I'm beginning to think I need another brand.   I have a 2010 Mac running Mavericks OS, a Netgear 802.11 wireless router, an Apple Air Port and Norton.  I installed the c309a All-in-One printer last year for the first time.  By spring of this year, the scanner function stopped working.  The other day, the printer wouldn't print.  I think the power plug might've come undone but I'm not sure.  I selected a new print queue as I've done in the past and still no connection with the printer.  I made sure connections were secure.  No luck.  I turned the printer off and restarted.  Still nothing.  I ran diagnostics: "Your HP printer cannot find your access point."  The Network Name (SSID) was not found.  I unplugged everything.  I uninstalled the software, I reinstalled the software.  Each time, the installation process would hang up at the configuration stage and the disc would spin and spin.  I tried connecting via USB to my Mac, but that failed too.  I rebooted my AirPort.  I even tried to manually enter the IP address on the AIO keypad.  No success getting the printer to recognize my Mac.  I succeeded at making an ad hoc connection using the wireless radio with hpsetup as the SSID.  The next day, when I needed to print, the hpsetup network option was unavailable and diagnostics told me the wireless radio wasn't working!  Per online forum suggestion, [edited reset instruction by Moderator]  That trick reset my wireless radio but still the c309a is unable to find my access point and I can't print using my 802.11 wireless.  If I can't solve this problem, I will not buy another HP printer.  I hope someone can help.  Thank you for your time.

    Hi @CluelessPackard ,
I see that you are unable to setup the printer over the wireless network. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
    Restore the printer defaults.
Go to Setup, Network, Restore Network Defaults.
    Print the Wireless Network Test.
Go to Setup, Network, Advanced Setup, Wireless Network Test.
If it passes, then it isn't a hardware issue with the printer.
If it passes, setup the Adhoc connection again.
Click the Airport on the top right corner on the Mac.
Click on the HP printer from the list. (you won't be on the internet till this procedure is finished)
Add the printer and try and print to see if the wireless is working properly.
Check the Configuration Page for the printer's IP address.
Go to Setup, Network, View Network Settings, Display Wireless Summary.
If you have a valid IP address for the printer then try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Type the IP address into your web browser's address bar. (Safari)
When setting up the printer, it has to be setup on the main router not the extension.
Go to the network tab along the top of the EWS.
Click on Wireless Setup Wizard along the left hand side to begin configuring the printer.
    Apply your settings.
You have now completed the Wireless configuration.
Click the Airport on the top right corner on the Mac and select your network name.
    Click on the Apple.
Click System Preferences, click the Printers and Scanners icon, then click the + sign, then select the printer from the list, make sure the printer listed beside use: shows the proper printer name, click on the add button. You might have to click on the drop down to select your printer.
    Test the printer.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Thank You.

  • E71x gprs access point not shown in internet desti...

    Hi All,
I am having problems with gprs in my e71x. It used to work fine earlier but now when on using the web browser it just shows wifi under the internet destinations.
I have gprs configured as an accesspoint inside internet destination and it worked great earlier but now for some reason it is no more visible to any apps.
I tried restoring the phone to factory settings, reformatted it and even reflashed the 3.78 firmware but couldn't fix the problem.
    Help!
    Thanks,

  • MBP won't stick to access point priority setting

We have a recent MBP running 10.6.8. It will not stick to the access point priority established in the Advanced tab of Networking.
    Background:
Wireless router had to be in a back room where another laptop has to connect; when the front room signal proved too weak I ran a cable to the front room, placed a switch at the end, and connected an Engenius access point to that be short cable. It is set in access point mode sending a clear SSID that is different than the distant router. The MBP can almost always see both access points but with very different signal strengths. There seems to be no pattern, but too often the MBP in the front room will connect to the back room router. I believe it has been found to have CHANGED acces points within one session.
I believe "Bridge Mode" was available for the front room Engenius device, but the literature and web site of the manufacturer seemed to urge me in the Access Point direction. I think of this as one big network rather than two separate entities that must be "bridged". In the front room there are either one or two laptops. One in Windows7 and that can be easily switched to what is its *second* priority. When my wife wants to force her MBP to the stronger signal it seems to knock out wireless connection altogether and she sometimes has to restart!
The Engenius is a 2.4 GigaHertz device.
The IP addresses have been resolved as best I know how to do this, and the subnet is the same. When the front room MBP is "on" the stronger signal the network offers good performance.
Please let me know if I need to provide more details like IP addresses.
    jonathan

MAJOR UPDATING: IT WORKS FROM THE RECOVERY DISK!
I tried to reboot and get to the recovery disk and TA-DAH! it connects to my router wifi normally.
Still can't connect when booting the normal OS.

  • 1702i access point presales questions

I am trying to clarify the capabilities of this device before purchase. One of the points of confusion is that the configuration guide applies to the 3700 series, the 2700 series, and the 1700 series. If there is a more appropriate  manual to use than the "Cisco IOS Configuration Guide for Autonomous Cisco Aironet Access Points" for the 1702i, then that would be useful information.
SSIDs: The manual indicates that the access points are capable of 16 SSIDs running simultaneously, but it doesn't make any distinctions between each of the series. Can I assume the 1702i is capable of 16 SSIDs, and 17 VLANs, like the WAP371?
DHCP server capabilities: P 5-25 of the manual shows how to use the internal DHCP server capabilities of the unit, but it is not clear to me how many instances, or pools, I can make. Am I limited to only one set, applied to one subnet, or can I define a different pool and subnet for each of the 16 SSIDs?
Specific model: The manual refers to the 1700i, but it looks like the model available is the 1702i. Are there any differences in the 1702i version?

"you will also see what access points that is supported on": My point was that the configuration guide did not say whether 16 SSIDs were supported on some or all of the series. That was my reason for asking the question (page 7-2 of the manual)
"The data sheet of the APs of the comparison guide will show you the feature difference of the access point": You must be looking at a different data sheet than I have been able to find:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/aironet-1700-series/datasheet-c78-732347.html
a search for "SSID" on the page had no hits.
also the comparison between 1700, 2700, and 3700 series showed no hits for SSID:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/wireless/buyers-guide.html#~indoorac,
"DHCP is strictly for that access point and it's always prefered to use a true dhcp server and not the access point itself."
It sounds like you may have misunderstood my question. I'm asking whether the DHCP server capability can assign a different IP pool for each SSID. The "Understanding Multiple SSIDs" section on P 7-2 shows that a different VLAN may be specified for each different SSID, but I can't tell from the "Setting up the DHCP Server" section on P 5-24, whether this can be done for different IP address pools, or just for one.
    For example:
The SSID "InterEquipment" would use VLAN 2, and the subnet 192.168.2.0
The SSID "Staff" would use VLAN 3 and use the subnet 192.168.3.0
The SSID "Guest" would use VLAN 4 and use the subnet 192.168.4.0
Could the 1702i act as the DHCP server for all of these SSID/Vlan/subnet combinations, or just one of them?
Concerning your comment "...it's always preferred to use a true dhcp server and not the access point itself." , what is it about the access point that makes it not a "true dhcp server", and why is it "preferred" to use something else?

  • Can someone post s40 v6 access point wml?

    Hi,
i use a nokia c3-01. I cant use email on my nokia as in the commercials suggested because my provider needs proxy settings. For the standardinstalled Internetbrowser i can configure a alternative account but the standard email prog just support wlan or access point. and in the nokia s40 v6 menu there seems to be no possibilty to configure access points with proxy.
Does someone have a wml example for nokia s40 v6 to get access point for the email prog in nokia c3-01 with proxy?
I found a WML-Example for Nokia s40 v5 but the c3-01 does not acceppt and does not show the access point after senden the generated .prov file to the c3-01. If someone needs help how to convert a wml to .prov i can help if needed.

I added one access point in settings and my email is working now.
I've done below steps, you could try to modify to your internet access point.
Menu->Settings->Configuration->Personal config. sett.->Options->Add new->Access point Account name: VFNZ internet Access point settings:  Data bearer: Packet data  Bearer settings:   Packet data acc. pt.: www.vodafone.net.nz   others keep the default values. Then back to the personal accounts and activate the VFNZ internet from Options.
Ovi Store can be accessed normally.

  • Just Moved, Want to Use My e3000 as just an access point NEED HELP

Hey, I just moved into a house the other day, the router/modem is upstairs, my desktop/xbox only has wired capabilities, and my laptop has wifi. I was trying to just make a bridge with my my laptop to my desktop while i try and figure out how to get all my stuff working again, but found out the jack in my laptop is broken, so it only has WIFI.
My question is, am I able to use my e3000 to connect to their wifi signal via wifi, in which i can just run a cable to my xbox and desktop within the room?
I cant run 2 cable from upstairs to downstairs for my desktop/xbox, so was hoping this was possible. thanks

Yes, and you can turn wi-fi access on after enabling airplane mode if you want or need internet access via an available wi-fi network.

  • AP1262 bridge to Non-Cisco Access Point?

I would like to use a Cisco AP1262 in a mobile command vehicle to bridge to any WiFi Access Point that I know the SSID and Pasword to.  Will the 1262 Bridge to a Non-Cisco Access Point?
If so, any assistance in finding an example configuration would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
Yes, you can configure 1262 as Universal Workgroup bridge where it will associate to any cisco or non-cisco root AP. You can only connect one wired client behind universal WGB.
You just need to configure "station-role workgroup-bridge universal <wired_client_MAC>" under radio interface of WGB. (1262)
Something similar should work for your 1262, if you want it in 5GHz, otherwise configure radio 0 interface for WGB
    hostname WGB
    dot11 ssid <SSID-NAME>
       authentication open
       authentication key-management wpa version 2
       wpa-psk ascii <PASSWORD>
    interface Dot11Radio1
     encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm
     station-role workgroup-bridge universal 068d.098a.d422 <- Ur wired MAC
     ssid <SSID-NAME>
     bridge-group 1
    interface GigabitEthernet0
     bridge-group 1
NB: I haven't tested this, so you  have to test & confirm. If WPA2/AES is not supported then you may need to choose suitable security protocol & encryption mechanism.
