Yes, you've lost any data that was on the device unless you made a backup prior to the 507 error.  Here's how to get the device functional again:
1. First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
2. Download the OS file from step 1 to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
3. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Also check the following locations for vendor.xml files and delete any instances of the file:
On Windows Vista/7 navigate to C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (Where "YOUR_USER" is your username)
On Windows XP navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (Where "YOUR_USER" is your username)
4. Plug in BlackBerry and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

I asked, "Has this BlackBerry worked correctly for YOU in the past?"
lol, ok. So the answer to my very specific question is, "No". You bought a second-hand, used BlackBerry, and as far as you know it might have been broken and not working for the seller. Personally, I would recommend you get your money back from the seller, and return the device.
Otherwise, you need to deal with ONE issue at a time. First, you must load the operating system.
See the link below for the download, and follow these simple installation instructions.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.

    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Hi, i've just bought new bb 8900 and after updating software all i get is on the device (reload software 507) can anyone tell me how to reset the device or reload software???  thanks....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Error 507 simply means the OS is not present on the device.
Connect your 8900 back to the USB cable and run Desktop Manager > App Loader again. It should recoognize the device, connnect and process the installation.

  • Reload Software 507 - stuck at connecting to boot rom

    1. My Curve 8900 (Orange Unlocked) had an app error 523 and didnt load, so I wiped it with BBSAK.
    2. After that, my phone starts and shows a white screen with an image and below the error message "Reload Software:507" and stays like that.
    3. I have followed every blog and have followed every step, but the OS is not loading on the device and it gets stuck at connecting to boot rom.
    4. When I open the Loader, my PIN number shows without any problem, so I click "next". When I've selected the apps I want to be installed and click "finish", my phone will reboot twice when the PC shows "Connecting to boot ROM" geting a "fatal error message has ocurred [A0x00000001]" on the loader.
I've been stuck at this process for too long and decided to post here for help.
Is there any solution for my device.
    Thanks!

    Hi vatsal
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums
You can try JI Cmder to wipe again and then try to load the OS ,But remember you had to click the Next  button on the screen as soon it shows USB PIN : UNKNOWN or else you had to try again :
What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe
If that fails then as a last resort you can try this :
KB27956 :  How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
Please try it and let us know.

  • Reload Software: 507; JVM 529...

    Hello,
I have a Pearl 8220 device, which always worked great until the day I got a message suggesting me to update the BB Desktop Software.  I did so, and since then I have going through a nightmare.
Right after the update I could not sync my device with outlook.  It would make a real mess, and replicate entries on both sides.  In other words, the newer version didn’t sync.
I tried to install the previous version, but then when I tried to backup the device the connection was lost, and the device froze.  Then I tried different versions of BBDesktopSoftware, and for all of them the connection issue happened over and over.  Every time the device froze I got an error message JVM 529.  Up to this point I was able to place and receive calls, and to send and receive messages.  But since I could not sync with my outlook, I kept reading articles that explained the possible reasons for the problems I was facing.
Then I decided to update the device software, and that apparently ended the story.  In the middle of the software installation the connection was lost again, the device froze, and now my blackberry does not have software.  Result of it is I can't use the device at all, it doesn't turn on, doesn't respond, I am not able to install any version of the device software, nothing.  When I try to install the software it goes to a point when the connection gets lost again.  Then I unplug it and wait and reconnect it, and it goes a little further, and then the connection gets lost again.  I saw a similar situation (but no solution) here: http://www.blackberryforums.com.au/forums/blackberry-pearl-smartphone-discussion/14029-jvm-applicati...
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

That's quite odd. I've always found BBSAK to be quite solid. Hmmm... quite odd.
Are you doing a wipe with BBSAK first? Try that.
And, since it's getting stuck at the same point each time, perhaps there's an issue with that carriers OS package. While rare, I've seen before that one carriers OS package and anothers might be a little bit different. You might give that a try as well.
But, very odd indeed. Be sure your PC is clean, not much running, coming off a fresh reboot (power down, not the reboot command) and use Run As Administrator for all that you can.

  • Being asked to Reload Software but desktop manager won't connect

I have a curve 8900 and I run the BB destkop manager on a Mac probook. I plugged the curve into my mac this morning via usb and manager told me that for some reason there was an issue with missing software on the curve and asked me to download and reload software - I did this but after a short while of downloading it stopped and said it was no longer connected to the curve , even though it was still plugged in via usb.
In addition, the curve is displaying a white screen and the msg Reload software 507.
I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the phone to the Mac but all it ever says is that it is waiting for device to start and it will not recognise it or connect to it so I can't even reinstall the software or reinstall via a back up. I reinstalled BB Desktop manager and  I've tried moving the battery and sim on the phone but this also makes no difference.
    HELP!!

507 just means no OS.  You're going to need to find a PC and reload the OS.  Use the link below and follow the instructions in the first post of this thread:

  • Reload software???

message on screen saying reload software 552 on a pure white screen.... computer finds phone blackberry desktop doesnt so cannot reload anything... why?

    Hi
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software (DTS)
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    and save it to computer.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.
    1) Download JL_Cmder from http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html
    2) Install JL_Cmder to computer.
    3) Double check you have already backed-up the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose ALL data.
    4) Make sure the DTS is closed and plug in the BB to computer via USB
    5) Go to the JL_Cmder on your computer and double click it to start. Now,this may take a few tries to connect, so keep trying until it does.
    6) On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
    7) Now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N"
    8) Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
    9) Press "Y" to continue
    10) Now type "blackberry" to continue
    11) On the BB you will see a white screen with a'507' Error. Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1). On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > Update my device.
2). Click View Other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.
3). Click Install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had difficulties with an app, do not install it.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

If the PC does not recognize the BB, You need to connect the via the USB cable. Then pull the battery from the BB.
With the battery pulled, connect the BlackBerry to the USB connector and as SOON as you see USB-PIN:UNKNOWN hit Next. You have to be quick. From there you can put the battery back in (make sure you install the battery or else when the OS update is completing and the device disconnects from the computer to reboot, it will lose the power provided by the USB connection and you will get an error and have to do it all over again!).
If you don't get it right the first time, try again (unplug from USB, pull battery, connect and hit Next while USB-PIN:Unknown is showing). You have to be fast and the timing is key, so it may take you three or four attempts.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.

Hello,  I have iMac Itel i3, from Oct, 2010 and have OS 10.6.7 and multiple users.
About 3-4 days ago the Mail icon in dock had question mark and was accidently removed, along with program on my user.  Oops.
    1. Mail 4.4 is on other users and works fine, but for me it does not work and tells me V4.3 does not work with latest OS X.
    2. I reloaded software from my user with original disks  (Oct, 2010) and got Mail 4.3 again. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS.  I am unable to load Mail.  Gives Yellow error message.
"  You have Mail version 4.3 (1081/1084). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.7 (Build 10J869). For more information, click the Help button."
    3. Tried to update software and look for update for mail 4.3 on Apple site to no success.
Hate to go to MS-Entorage ( I may need to learn something new and alien) mail program since contracts are in Mail/Address Book.
    Ideas?
    MattDeeds

    Matt,
I would download and run the 10.6.7 combo update.

I have a late 2006 iMac that has just started giving me a message to reboot after a black screen comes down slowly from the top top of the screen to the bottom.  I reloaded software and restored from Time Machine, but it keeps happening, now several tomes a day.  Any insight as to the issue or a proposed solution?

Unplug any peripherals you have except your keyboard, reboot, and check activity monitor for apps.  Keep running apps to a minimum to find the App causing the issue.
