Reload Software: 552 AND computer can't connect

I've been at this trying to fix my phone for 2 days and still nothing.  I installed an app that didn't work (it came up with an error) so I uninstalled it.  I told it to reboot later and then later did a battery pull.  After that, it came on and said "Reload Software: 552" and I can't get it to reload the software.
I think it has something to do with the drivers.  I have Vista.  It was barely detecting it at first, and when I tried to reinstall it it would always mess up somewhere in the process.  I tried with the battery both in and out.  However, after resetting or when the battery was out, Windows told me it was installing the software driver.  So I thought that I should re-install Desktop Manager.  I redownloaded it, and clicked repair (Maybe I should try "Uninstall," make sure the drivers are deleted, and reinstall it?) and then after that it couldn't detect it at all.  I directed Windows to install driviers directly from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers and it told me "Windows cannot install this because another process is using the file."  I copied the drivers to my flash drive and had it install from there, and it did the same thing without even reading my flash drive so I suspect it's a Windows configuration file that is in use.  So I tried the same thing in Safe Mode, even opened the Task Manager and ended a few processes that don't crash my computer upon doing so, and still it said that.
Oh, and the AppLoader program doesn't work either.  The device box is blank and the check box to scan for devices is grayed out no matter what I do.  Even installing Desktop Manager using WINE for Linux doesn't work.
So I am completely out of alternatives.  Any idea what I should do?

Wow... so it's not just me?
Paco, I'm on the THIRD phone that has done this. I've been on these forums looking for help.
But I'm seeing something I hadn't seen before: someone else who: added a program and removed it... .is running Windows Vista (I'm using SP2)..... and the machine will NOT recognize the phone when the reload is attempted!
I have no answer for you (yet). I'm pretty upset with my carrer (T-mobile).... Why, with all the people I had to tell of my issue, does NO ONE see this as a problem? (Um.. Ma'am.. have you recently loaded a program? Which one(s)?)
If we can find a resolution, I would rather go back to my 8220! I am not so happy with this 8520!

  • Reload Software:552 and then "Application loader was unable to connect with your device."

    Hi guys
I'm new to this forum and looking for a help please..
My curve 8900 got the "Reload Software:552" message on the screen. I was trying to uninstall an application and after it asked me to reboot, it showed me that message. I already try to reinstall the OS like most of you guys said. But when I already in the process of that, it showed me "Application loader was unable to connect with your device. Please re-connect yout device, enter password, if requiered, and retry"
    I was trying this steps..
    1. use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager
    2. connect the BlackBerry to the computer using a USB cable
    3. click application loader, then start
    4. then i choose the OS and apps i want to install it also
    5. after i click finish and the process start, i stuck on the task 2 of 5 "wait for device initialization" and then the message "Application loader was unable to connect with your device. Please re-connect yout device, enter password, if requiered, and retry"  showed.
I try and try again but there is no use. it keeps show that message.
help me please, this really frustrates me
    Thanks in advance guys..

    1. Make certain your USB cable is connected to a main REAR USB port on the rear of the PC, not a front USB port, not a USB hub.
    2. Try loading the OS with these instructions (make sure that Desktop Manager is not running):
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

ALso, Im still having one problem. I could re-install the OS but the phone its restore to 0, the MENU does not have the any of the apps, I can see all on my SD (apps, pictures) but I can't access any of this from the OS.

    Hi
Can anyone help me?  Since upgrading to v6 of the iphone software the other day, all my contacts have gone, and I can't connect to orange contacts restore to get them back, or access my email. Other web pages seem ok.

  • Reload software 552 issue (Mac user)

Hi to the community of BB user for Mac,
Since yesterday i have a problem with the "reload software: 552" message on my BB. I am a Mac user and when I connect my BB to my computer, it doesn't recognise it (device "Not connected") and so I can't go to the "Applications" menu to reload the DM os.
Is anyone on this forum know how to do it with a Mac. There are some options for PC users but I can't find any with mac, it is like my last option is to send the BB to RIM but it takes about 2 weeks to get it fix.
    Thanks
    Loic

    Thanks
    one question, at step 2:
"Your name > Library > Application Support >BlackBerry Desktop >Device Applications
    2. Delete all the OS's in the folder and empty the trash."
I dont have the "Device Applications" folder, I guess that the memory of the BB has been wiped out when I installed the application.
    regards

  • Error Msg - reload software 552

Hi everyone, Can someone help me pls
I downloaded the Blackberry Protect, it asked me to reboot. I did and it came back with RELOAD SOFTWARE 552.
Its not coming on apart from that message.
I have tried taking out and putting back both the battery and sim card, nothing is working.
    Please what can i do

    Hi
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.

  • Reload software: 552 error; cannot reload OS

Hi. I am getting this error message on my Curve 8900:
    Reload software: 552
I have read several threads advising how to fix this, but the problem is that they all require me to connect the device to my computer and reload the OS. But since I upgraded to a desktop computer running Win 7, I have never successfully connected the device to the computer except in mass media mode. I just re-downloaded the desktop software and it still won't recognize the device. So I have a device that needs the OS and all applications reloaded, and no way to do that. Suggestions?

    Hello !
If you have already done that, then what you can do is resatart your PC.
Once rebooted then firstly, connect your USB Cable with your BlackBerry Smartphone.
And now open your BlackBerry Desktop Software.
    Hope this resolves your Problem!
If your problem has been resolved then would request you to Click on "Like" and accept as "Solution" so that other Advisors doesnt invest there time on this Message anymore.
    Thanks.

and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS

    and save it to computer.
If the PC does not recognize the BB, You need to connect the via the USB cable. Then pull the battery from the BB.
With the battery pulled, connect the BlackBerry to the USB connector and as SOON as you see USB-PIN:UNKNOWN hit Next. You have to be quick. From there you can put the battery back in (make sure you install the battery or else when the OS update is completing and the device disconnects from the computer to reboot, it will lose the power provided by the USB connection and you will get an error and have to do it all over again!).
If you don't get it right the first time, try again (unplug from USB, pull battery, connect and hit Next while USB-PIN:Unknown is showing). You have to be fast and the timing is key, so it may take you three or four attempts.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.
    1) Download JL_Cmder from http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html
    2) Install JL_Cmder to computer.
    3) Double check you have already backed-up the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose ALL data.
    4) Make sure the DTS is closed and plug in the BB to computer via USB
    5) Go to the JL_Cmder on your computer and double click it to start. Now,this may take a few tries to connect, so keep trying until it does.
    6) On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
    7) Now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N"
    8) Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
    9) Press "Y" to continue
    10) Now type "blackberry" to continue
    11) On the BB you will see a white screen with a'507' Error. Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1). On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > Update my device.
2). Click View Other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.
3). Click Install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had difficulties with an app, do not install it.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

  • Reload Software 552 Error message work around

I'm desperate.. and climbing out of my skin
The long and the short of it: I have an 8520 and I got an error message of 'Relooad Software 552', but I can't get it to load
I was able to tether the phone and get into the Application Loader, even though the PIN doesn't display on the Desktop Manager (5.0.0.8)
I tried doing it with the Add/Remove Applications and with the Update Software. It gets through the first two phases, then it just hangs up
I tried calling T-Mobile, who put me in touch with BlackBerry... sorry, but I don't have a lot of confidence with the people over the phone. It doesn't help that they try to talk down to me.....
    No matter, it's not working
On my old phone, the BB Pearl 8220, a tecnican was trying to do something back door, where we went into the files on my hard drive and used a Loader there (?).
    Can someone maybe help me?
If I could get the phone to work, I would be willing to keep this handset and not bother with the new handset that BB is sending to me.
I want this to work. I NEED my phone. I'm inconvenienced with a loaner phone (no bells/whistles... yuck)
    Any one?
([email protected]  although I can't see the responses so quickly as there is no email on this loaner phone)

  • Reload Software 552 - Is all my data lost?

    Hi everyone,
I have a major issue with my BB and I am scared that my data may be lost. My device hasnt been working properly recently, so tonight I tried to do a contact back up with Orange, for which I had to download their app. Once I downloaded it the phone has shut and when I restarted it again it showsn a white screen "Reload Software 552".
I know that the contact back-up I tried to do with Orange, was not succsful, so will I loose all my contatcs if I do a software reset now? I am not too bothered about my pics, apps etc....but I have about 600 contacts both business and private, for which I dont have a back up.
I tried using the DM but it wont recognize my device.  Please help me on this one, and let me know if there is any way out of this, which will NOT ERASE my contacts??
    Many thanks.

You have NO recent back up of the device, or have BlackBerry Protect installed and working?
Yes, you will likely lose your contacts and personal information on the device.
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you may see your PIN listed, or you might see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

  • Blackberry 9630 Tour - Reload Software: 552 - Mac

This is my second Tour since I bought my first Blackberry a couple of weeks ago.  I know I'm definitely not in the norm as being a Blackberry user and a Mac user as well, but I need help.  I recently was deleting some frivolous apps I had downloaded from App World, and when I rebooted, I was met with this error message - Reload Software: 552.  I've seen some of the other posts here regarding the same error message, but I'm having a problem loading any software onto my device since Desktop Manager only works on Windows computers.  I can't even download the OS to install because that page requires IE 5.5, and they stopped making IE for Mac 4 years ago.  I don't want to have to keep trading in my Tour, especially if this really is a problem that I could possibly fix myself.
Does anybody have any suggestions for me to try?  Removing the battery gives the same results, and the folks at the Verizon store I took my first Tour to didn't know what to do, and that's why they had me just swap it out completely.

HI and Welcome to the Forums!
FWIW -- Here is the official KB about the 552 error:
KB18751 Error "App Error 552" is displayed on the BlackBerry smartphone
Sadly, you are correct that DTM presently only runs on PC's to do what is necessary. But, what is necessary is to reload the OS, which means you need to find a PC to do that on since you can't do it on your MAC. Perhaps you can take the KB to the store and show them and they can do it for you?
