Reloaded Machines Not Getting Client Installed

We recently moved our FCS/MOM solution over to a new FEP/SCCM solution.  Everything was going great until we started reloading some workstations.  In the past with MOM a reloaded workstation (from scratch) would automatically have the MOM client
as well as the FCS client reinstalled.
However, in our new scenario, the reloaded workstations are not getting anything.  The SCCM server continues to believe the SCCM client and FEP client are still install on those workstations and continue to report a very old "last communicated"
date.
What do I need to setup to get SCCM to reinstall clients as needed?  So far manually deleting the machine from SCCM and having it rediscover is the only thing I can get to work.  However, there must be an automated route?
I'd appreciate any help!

Once again Jason, you are wrong.  MOM pushes out it's own agent.  As I already mentioned WSUS pushes out FCS.
So lets go down the list of your concerns, shall we?
proper permissions - As I already mentioned, had you bothered to read, it comes preconfigured.
configuration - As I already mentioned, had you bothered to read, it comes preconfigured.
firewall exclusions - Part of the setup is handling your own firewall as is true with 99% of all software solutions.  Not sure what your point is here.
DNS resolution - You'll have to explain yourself here.  DNS is typically already up and running in an active AD environment.
I'm not really sure what the hell your problem is anyway.  1. SCCM can autoinstall the client on any machine you want through discovery.  2. SCCM can inventory software/services on any machine you want.  3. If SCCM had the capability to auto-inventory,
see the service isn't running and then autoinstall (which you have it doing anyway)....that would be just one of many solutions.  So you're little security freakout is way out of line.
I'm not sure if you just enjoy trolling but your attitude isn't appreciated and I would greatly appreciate it if you would just stop.  Do everyone a favor and at least install FCS ONCE before you continue commenting on it.  I really don't need
someone who is completely ignorant on the topic explaining to me how it works.  I've been running it since day 1 and beta tested it prior to that.
EDIT:
Also, I've already through your little link a long time ago.  So you're comment about me not reading it is not only out of line, it's down right childish.  Nothing in that link discusses SCCM RE-pushing out the client.  If I wanted to roll
out the client via GP or script then I wouldn't need discovery in SCCM to being with.
Also, you're second link doesn't even work.
You need to stop.

  • Uninstalled bunlde not getting re-installed

I just came across this problem today that if I manually hit delete on a bundle in osgi console, and try to reinstall it by dropping it into an install folder, it does not get reinstalled.
If I rename the bundle jar from for example jdbc.jar to jdbc2.jar (anything other than the old name) and drop it into same install folder, it reinstalls.
Same is true for a bundle I built inside crxde lite, if I uninstall the bundle jar from console, rebuilding the bundle does not reinstall it.
Any idea what could be causing this? and How to avoid it.

    How to avoid it.

  • Endeca 7.5.1.1 is not getting properly installed

    Hi,
can anyone please help in this regard. I am trying to setup Endeca 7.5.1.1 on win7 enterprise 64 bit. I have executed the Endeca Server installer which created a folder named 'EndecaServer7.5.1_1' in Middleware folder(C:\Oracle\Middleware) .While creating a new domain in weblogic for Endeca Server, I'm not getting any options for selecting 'Oracle Endeca server' however getting option to select 'Oracle JRF'.
I can see under  C:\Oracle\Middleware\EndecaServer7.5.1_1 common/templates folder is not generated which is perhaps must. However the whole installation goes smooth and no error occurs but at time of domain creation Endecca doesn't come up as an option. Please some one help in this regard.

I've tryied it before, but don't understand plug and other things how it's working and didn't get sound output at all
EDIT: As I know, speaker test is working with 5.1, because it's said by command. But applications use only 1 output. I mean card ca0106 and device 0 (default) is front speakers and other output 3.5mm jacks are likely "disabled".
So I'm asking, is it possible to set default device with multiple output 3.5mm jacks?
    pcm.!default {
    type hw
    card CA0106
    device 2
    ctl.!default {
    type hw
    card CA0106
This uses my my center and subwoofer. Without mentioning device it's default is front left and right. And I thought, that just stereo works. But works just one output. And as I said, speaker test works fine as 5.1, but that's just a test, where are outputs defined in /usr/share/alsa/pcm or /cards... There is ca0106.
I'm tired of this, so is it possible to use all jacks? Whole card? In /usr/share/alsa/cards and in ca0106.conf I've seen IEC958 defined at the bottom of the file. But cards doesn't have any IEC958 on it.
I want all 3.5mm outputs and not only one defined. And true surround, not copied from one output to others. Can you help me please?
EDIT: For example this is not working via Firefox or MPD: http://www.mysurround.com/en/info-test OGG file Hear left speaker and when he says center, it comes from right speaker.

  • Applet does not get client certificate from browser (Firefox, IE7)

I'm writing a web service which runs Tomcat through Apache. One critical requirement is that the service be able to invoke certain device drivers on the end user's machine. Fortunately, there is a Java API for this, so this requirement can be fulfilled using an applet.
Here's the problem. This is a B2B application, so we're using SSL and requiring client authentication. I'm no web security guru, but I managed to get SSL set up through Apache (with a self-signed certificate for now; we'll get a real one from a real CA when we're ready to go to production). I also managed to set up client authentication by creating my own CA and generating a client certificate, which I then copied to my test client (Win XPSP2) and imported into both Firefox (2.0.0.15) and IE (6.0.2900). The applet is signed with a real certificate, and that causes no problems. And all of the pages for my web service work as expected.
All except one. The page which is supposed to load the applet pops a dialog stating 'Identification required. Please select certificate to be used for authentication', and presents a list of zero certificates.
Actually, I get this dialog in Firefox on my XPSP2 box, and also when I test on a Vista Home Premium box running IE 7.0.6000. Puzzlingly, this behavior does NOT occur on my XPSP2 box when running through IE 6.0. It seems that with XPSP2 and IE 6.0, the JVM can manage to obtain the required client certificate from the browser and pass it along to Apache, but the JVM can't do this when running in Firefox or in IE 7.0 on Vista.
I have gone to the Java Control Panel and verified that the 'Use certificates and keys in browser keystore' option is selected on both boxes.
I've done a fair amount of research for this (including in this forum) and see that this appears to be a chronic difficulty with applets. What makes it worse is that I don't think I can use the standard workaround, which is to download the applet from a different host/virtual host, because the applet needs to communicate with the web service. Since we have the additional layer of Tomcat container-managed user authentication, the applet needs to be communicating with the server using the same session token as everything else.
So at this point, I'm stuck. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Two thoughts (I'm reaching at straws here):
    1) I have the certificate imported in both Firefox and IE as a 'personal' certificate. Is there someplace else I can put it so the JVM will know how to find it? A rather old thread in this forum mentioned something about setting properties in the Java Control Panel, but I see no place in the JCP to specify such properties, so I'm guessing that solution is no longer operative.
    2) I'm using a trick I found on the internet to make the applet load cleanly with both Firefox and IE, namely, I'm using the <OBJECT> tag to specify the applet class and codebase for IE, and then using <COMMENT><EMBED ... /></COMMENT> within the <OBJECT> declaration to specify the information for Firefox. Is there some other way of doing the markup that will give the JVM a hint that it should get a certificate from the browser?
BTW . . . I would hate to drop support for Firefox, but if someone has an IE-only solution, I'll take it. Unfortunately, I reckon a Firefox-only solution would not fly.
    Thanks all.

My applet is also signed by a valid certificate. The question of whether the applet is signed/self-signed/unsigned >isn't an issue --- I just wanted you to make sure the Applet runs because it is a know valid Java2 Applet that is 100% signed properly and verified to run.
This eliminates the possibility that it is a JVM issue. However after reading your message further I am afraid
it is not relevant to your issue.
due to the client authentication, my browser (Firefox, IE7) refuses to even download the applet.
I went to your site, and I can see your applet in both Firefox and IE6. However, I don't believe your site is set up >quite like mine, because it appears I can run your applet whether I have imported your X509 certificate or not. What I >did was:If that is true we are all dead :) No I think you just missed the cert in the IE databse. It doesn't have to be in the
    Applet database to function. Surprise!
Check your IE/tools/internet options/content tab/certificates/trusted root certification authorities.
I then opened the Java control panel and verified that the certificate isn't listed there, either. So unless the certificate >is being cached/read from some other location (which could be, this certificate stuff is largely black magic to me), >then your server isn't requiring client authentication, either accidentally or by design. No HyperView is a valid java2 Applet and actually writes to a file "hyperview.dat" though it is probably empty.
If you click on a component in the view and then on the view and type "dumpgobs" it shoud write out some data about the current graphics objects so you can see it has complete read/write access..
Further it opens up a complete NIO server ands starts listening for connections on a random port
(Echoed in your java console) You can connect to it with telnet and watch impressive ping messages all day :)
This all goes back to a few years BTW back before there was a plugin and there was only Netscape & IE.
There are actually 2 certificate databases and what loads where depends on which type of cert you are using. Now self signed or not doesn't matter but what does matter is the type of certificate. IE: is it RSA/DSA/Sha1
etc. The Netscape DB was a Berkley DB and MS used whatever they use. The Cert is a DSA/Sha1 cert
which I like the best ATM as it (X fingers it stays so) always has worked.
Sadly that tidbit doesn't help you either I am afraid.
What I'm trying to do is require client authentication through Apache by including the following markup in a virtual >host definition:
    SSLCACertificateFile D:/Certificates/ca.crt
    SSLVerifyClient require
SSLVerifyDepth 1You got me there I avoid markup at all costs and only code in C java and assembler :)
Now unless I am wrong I think you are saying that you want the Applet to push the certificate to the server
automatically and I don't think this happens. Least I have never heard of this happening from an Applet automatically.
On my client machine, I have a certificate which was generated using OpenSSL and the ca.crt file listed. Testing >shows that the server is requiring a certificate from the client, and the web browser is always providing it.
The problem is that when the browser fires up the Java plugin to run an applet, there is not sufficient communication >between the browser and the plugin so that the plugin can obtain the certificate from the browser and provide it to >the server.
So the server refuses to send the applet bytecode to the JVM, and we're stuck. In terms of implementation ease I think you may have the cart before the horse because I think it would be far easier to run an Applet in the first place to do the authentication, and then send, for example, a jar file to bootstrap and run
(or some classes) in the event the connection is valid. Then again one never knows it all and there may be some classes which enables the plugin as you wish. I have never heard of this being done with the plugin the way you suggest.
I am thinking maybe there is another method of doing this I do not know.
Did you try pushing the cert via JavaScript/LIveConnect?? That way it could run before the Applet and do the authentication.
Maybe someone else has other ideas; did you try the security forum??
Sorry but I am afraid that is not much help.
I did snarf this tidbit which may have some relevance
The current fix for this bug in Mantis and 1.4.1_02 is using JSSE API, Here are the step:
In Java control panel, Advanced tab -> Java Runtime Parameters, specify:
-Djavax.net.ssl.keyStore=<name and path to client keystore file>
-Djavax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword=<password to access this client keystore file>
If it is a PKCS12 format keystore, specify:
    -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStoreType=PKCS12
In our future JRE release 1.5, we will create our own client authentication keystore file for JPI and use that for client authentication, for detail info, please see RFE 4797512.

  • How would SCCM treat a re-imaged machine without SCCM Client installed on it.

I would like to understand how Configuration Manager would treat a machine on which OS is rebuild if the machine is currently showing client=YES and SCCM Client is not installed after OS rebuild.
Would it create a new record for this machine in SCCM once the machine is discovered or merge it with existing record?

The only thing that flips client=no to client=yes is heartbeat discovery (which is sent by the ConfigMgr client). There's no mechanism that would flip to client=no (except the clear install flag task). So the resource will age out eventually (if AD
discovery does not update the resource for example).

  • Using windows vista I can not get the install to complete and work properly with a usb connection.

I am running Vista (32 bit) and I was trying to update to new HP software.  Tried using full software install from file on HP website (release 14.0 full version).  When I try to install, it will not recognize the usb connection of the software.  I tried going back to version that came with the printer and had a similar problem.  Now I am stuck not being able to get either version 12 (which came with the system) or version 14 (new update on website).
I need help trying to figure out how to get the software to go through and connect properly using usb and having the scan function working.......
    Any ideas.

    Hi,
Have you tried plugging the USB into a differnt port at the back of your PC?
IS the USB directly connected to your PC and not through any USB hub or extention?
Do you see any response while plugging the USB to your computer?
    If yes, please clarify.
I would also suggest trying a different USB cord, not longer than 2-3 meters long and check for any difference.

  • SCCM 2012 Client Install Failing ONLY on 8.1 Machines - Advice?

    Good morning,
I've got a rather interesting situation.  We have a SCCM 2012 site configured for https, the site server is acting as the MP and DP, and we are installing the client via the SCCM 2012 Client GPO.  Our cert is an InCommon cert.  We have 4000+
Windows 7 machines that are able to install the client.  We tested on a Window 8 machine and the client install works as well.  Whenever a Windows 8.1 machine tries to install it fails.  We have checked the boundaries (we can't specify IP ranges
since we don't manage the whole network).  I can manually browse to the source files on the MP/DP.  The switches we use when installing via the GPO are /usepkicert /mp:[redacted] CCMHTTPSSTATE=63 SMSSITECODE=[redacted] SMSCACHESIZE=12288.  However,
    it always fails with:

  • Mac does not recognize the install DVD

I can not get the install DVD to work. I am running a G5 1.6 GHZ, 1.5 GB ram and OS X 10.3.9.
Tried just about everything, but it will not open on the desktop. Tried a restart with it in the drive holding down the C key but it just ejects the DVD.
    What y'all think?
    Thanks.

    Reply to all;
I can open other DvD's with the drive. It is OK. I purchased this from macmall in Dec, just got enough nerve to install it. It does have a few little scratches on it though. Could they have sold me a used one?

  • SCCM 2012 is not discovering clients

Hi, I have a SCCM 2012 Primary Site. It is not discovering any computers with the AD System Discovery enabled.  FYI:I am new to SCCM and it is installed on a Windows 2008 R2 Server.

OK, now I'm confused as you just did a 'me too' on the other posting, but the last part of the thread was about client installation. Now you created a new thread regarding discovery. So I guess it was a 'me too' for the discovery issue, not the client install
issue. This makes it really hard to see what to answer :-(
If AD System Discovery is not working, then usually what has happened is that people click the checkbox to enable the discovery method, but did not add a path for the method to discover from. So go back to the Properties of Active Directory System Discovery,
and verify that you have a path specified. If not, click the New button (looks like a gold starburst), and add the root of the forest (if that is appropriate). Then close the Properties dialog and run a full discovery cycle. It may take some time, depending
on how large the forest is. You can track it with the site server's adsysdis.log.

  • Custom Afaria Client not getting installed on IOS devices

    Hello,
I am using Afaria SP4 in my organization with no hotfix applied
I have created a custom Afaria Client App for IOS devices.
I am succesfully able to enroll my IOS devices and install the custom app during enrollment, when i am trying to hit the system tenant.
However, when i am trying to hit manually created tenants, enrollment is
done and also the device is under MDM control, but custom Afaria client app is not getting installed during enrollment.
I have attached the screenshot of the page where i have uploaded the ios afaria application in Afaria console.
The error that i can see in the icu logs while enrolling ios device in manually created tenant is as follows-
"The manifest for the app at
    http://65.240.141.130:23003/ps2/ps.svc/Package/Content/0435A04B083AB0E663FE410BBFE7238D31E6B113/7de2f89d-6cdf-458d-a68c-0bb72e616c68/3/Virt.Def.App.plist
    could not be validated"
Please guide to resolve the issue.
    thanks and regards,
    Jigar Salecha

I'm quite sure you need to set this up per tenant. Have you tried to upload the custom client to each tenant ?

I strongly recommend that you install iTunes to the default C: paths. You can change the perferences to keep the actual music files on your D: partition.
Here is a place to start with the installer errors:
