Reloading exs files

hello.
i re-installed logic and i saved all my plug in settings before doing so. now when i try to load a setting into the exs24 the setting file appears to be greyed out and unusable. i need these presets. please help!

that is where i copied my saved presets to.
im sorry it must seem ridiculous, but i cant find the functions menu. Perhaps it is somewhere different in 7.2? i dont understand why the "load setting" option wont allow me to upload one of the presets.
any other suggestions? thank you very much.

  • Crash when try to open song with missing exs-file.need shortcut!

    Hi there
I would like to ask, if there is any idea where I can get a list of shortcuts/keycommands for startroutines in logic. I can´t open my songs anymore because logic can´t find some exs-files. instead of just leave these files as "missing", logic crashes.... I need to start the songs without driver. Any idea, how?
    Thanks for an answer, Mitsch

Just open Logic without loading a Project->Prefs->Audio->disable Audio core->then open your damaged projects.

  • Packaging EXS Files?

OK, I've made up a nice EXS file in Keymap. I load it up in EXS24 and it's great. I make some mod routings, adjust the filter, nice. Save that as a .PST. Now, I open the editor and select Instrument, Save, OK.
Here's the problem. When I call up the EXS file again, I'd like to have those mod routings and filter settings there, but they're not. I have to load the PST file too. How do I set these to load up by default or get saved with the EXS file?
Now, if I just load the PST file first, it calls up the EXS file and loads it. I want to send this sample set to someone. So I guess I have to send the PST file too, eh? I'm used to sending Kontakt NKI files and this isn't an issue. But the guy I'm working with now doesn't have Kontakt and I'm a bit at a loss at how to instruct him to load these.
    I'll go make some coffee. Maybe it'll come clear . . .

OK, iced coffee consumed while reading manual:
""Important: The Settings that can be stored and recalled in the Plug-in window are not part of the Sampler Instrument being loaded. Settings reside above the Sampler Instruments in the hierarchy: A Setting contains a pointer to a Sampler Instrument, and when a new Setting is selected, the Sampler Instrument it points to is automatically loaded. As such, Settings are convenient for organizing and accessing your favorite Sampler Instruments. Settings also recall any changes made to parameters within the Plug-in window.""
So apparently I do need to send a PST along with the EXS if I want someone to actually have the samples sound as I want them to. But this still doesn't make sense. If I load a factory sample set, say, Matrix12 Polysynth, then it comes up with several routings and filter settings! I can find no associated PST file for this either.
So how the heck do I do that?

  • Re linking exs files

    Hi,
I've returned to Logic Ex after some time and started a project.  I have sample sounds the ESX24 cannot find although they do look to be on my drive.
For eg. I'm wanting to use French Horn Solo - in Application Support > Logic it's listed as French Horn Solo.exs  - Logic is trying to look for HO-L_oV_nA_sus_f_A2.wav
I wanted to confirm if the only way to relink the exs file was to pay for software such as ESXManager or is there another way (if longer) to do this?

Use the Project Manager to do an expanded scan.
Select the the EXS files or folders you want to relink, and use the "Resolve missing samples for instruments" (or however it's worded) option.
    It takes a while...

  • Opening outdated exs files

couldn't find anything on this.....  i have logic 9 now, and a newer imac.  i decided to dig up a logic 7 project.  the exs file "mini lead" is missing.  i found it on my old hard drive, both the exs files and the sample folders mini lead 1 and 2.....  so, i went on the new imac, executed command shift g, and put them in library>application suppot> logic>pluggin settings>exs.......  i could not find an obvious place to put the audio files.
when i opened my project, i noticed that the mini lead did not appear in my preset list on the exs24, or in my channel strip presets when i tried putting the file in the channel strip folder.  so, i tried loading the mini lead exs from the synth module while the folder was in the aforementioned pluggin folder.  it was exactly the file the computer navigated to when i clicked on the "load" function in the esx24 menu.
my hope, is that this can be remedied by locating the audio folder where the samples for the patch belong.  (?)
if so, where is the sample library folder at now?
if not, is there a way to do this?

    ezcheese1 wrote:
what is the path for the sample folders?
I gave them in the earlier thread...
However, having said all that, as you asked..  the correct paths for exs stuff should be...
Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples for the exs samples in their respective folder structure
    and
Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments for the exs instrument presets themselves
There is also a second place for GB exs presets too..
Library/Application Settings/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files for GB exs samples
    and..
Library/Application Settings/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Instruments for the GB exs preset instruments
Note: These are all found in the Local Library found in the root of your System Hard Drive and not in the User Library....

  • Reloading DITA file with xref gives UNDEFINED CROSS-REF FORMAT! in FM8

    Hi,
I'm using structured FrameMaker to author DITA files that are to be converted into .chm and pdf. I'm using fm-xref for hyperlinks to preserve the linking in the pdf output. However, I don't want to use the pre-defined cross reference formats (e.g. Figure, See_Title_and_Page) and so I defined my own (simply using the <paratext> building block).
However, when I reload the document, my new format is lost and it results in an UNDEFINED CROSS-REF FORMAT! message in place of my cross-reference. I've also tried changing an existing format but it reverts back to the original when I reload the document.
Is there somewhere that I can change the default cross-reference formats permanently?
    Grateful for help.
    Thanks,
    Ian

    Hi Ian...
You need to add the new cross-ref formats into the template(s) in order for them to be available in your documents.

  • Reload source file after custom build step

    Hello,
I use a source code generator that creates c-code (i.e. hello.c) from some kind of definition file.
I want the generator to create hello.c on each build, so i have decided to put a batch (that calls the generator) into the "custom build step" of my project.
This way the generator is called before each build.
Unfortunatly CVI does not reload the changed hello.c after it has been modified/overwritten by the batch... the build is done with the previous version of hello.c. Not until the build is finished CVI recognizes that hello.c has been modified and prompts "Update Window from Disk", then I have to run a second build in order to get the changes of hello.c applied.
How can I accomplish to have only build process that first calls the generator and then compiles the project (with modified hello.c)?
    Thanks

The problem happens because you have the file open in CVI. If a file is opened in CVI, then CVI uses the contents that are available in the opened window and not the contents on disk. Also, once CVI starts a build it does not monitor changes to the file on disk - consider what should happen if the file on disk changes while it is being compiled. So while the custom build step does overwrite the file on disk, CVI uses the contents that are in the source window for the compilation. To avoid this problem, make sure the file is not opened in CVI when you build - this will make CVI load and compile the file from disk after the custom build step overwrites it.

  • EXS File missing in Logic Pro 9: Unisyncl.wav and Unisynch.wav

    Hi to everybody!
I just installed logic pro 9 and this is my first experience with logic.
Using it I noticed that some files are missing. These files are: Unisyncl.wav and Unisynch.wav.
Searching the internet I discovered that those files belong to logic 8 and are located in the folder:
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/05 Synthesizers/04 Sequence Elements/Spectrum Stack 01/UniSyncH.wav
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/Analog Samples/Spectrum SQ/UniSyncH.wav
Please someone can send me them by mail or internet hosting service?
    My mail is: [email protected]
    Really thanks to all

Yes, I have them - both samples are in both folders:-
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/05 Synthesizers/04 Sequence Elements/Spectrum Stack 01/UniSyncH.wav
    and
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/Analog Samples/Spectrum SQ/UniSyncH.wav
These are on the LP8 content disks but not on the LP9 content disks, strangely enough.
These will be only up for a short time as technically it's Apple content. I'm doing this to help you out as you're probably more than a little frustrated. Please post back when you have downloaded them.

  • Reload sequence file when changes on disk

    Hi,
I wrote a custom user interface based on the TestStand (TS) Operator Interface. When I run a sequence file on it and I edit it in the TS editor and I restart an execution, it seems to keep loading the first one when I launch the execution. The only way I can do this is by restarting the GUI.
I read a lot and tried many things and I can’t figure out what do I need to do to have the sequence file reload from disk on the 2nd execution after changes has been made.
I tried many thing and it seems to work when I release the seq file 2 times (!). But, as expected, the 2nd time it get released, I get an error that the file was unloaded from the TestStand Engine. And the weird thing is that I don’t get the error when I run the 1st time or I don’t make changes to the seq file.
Do you see anything wrong? Or have another suggestion how I could achieve that?
Can I see which seq files are in the internal cache? That could be useful to debug.
    Thank you.
A code snippet in C# is in attachement.

    A few more ideas:
    1) Are you perhaps using this file path with an ApplicationMgr or SequenceFileViewMgr API? You need to make sure that this file is not open by the ApplicationMgr or assigned to a sequencefileviewmgr as well. The applicationmgr or sequencefileviewmgr likely have a strong reference to the sequence file if you have assigned it or opened it with one of their APIs. You might want to try switching entirely to the applicationmgr APIs instead of using the engine APIs as that's probably less likely to lead to conflicts between the two.You could try ApplicationMgr.OpenSequenceFile() and ApplicationMgr.CloseSequenceFile().
    2) Have you tried this with a simple, empty sequence file and simple default Sequential process model to verify that it's not related to anything in the sequence file you are running or any code elsewhere in your application? It's possible for code in the sequence or process model itself to be calling GetSequenceFile or GetSequenceFileEx.
    3) Have you tried adding a delay between WaitForEndEx() and ReleaseSequenceFileEx()? This is not that likely to be the cause, but perhaps there is additional code required to execute in the execution thread after WaitForEndEx returns before the sequence file can be unloaded. If you add a small delay (i.e. Thread.Sleep(1000) between those lines of code it might work. This would not explain why the file couldn't be reloaded when you use GetSequenceFileEx with the UpdateFromDisk flag though so probably is not the problem.
I tried to reproduce this problem in the sequence editor by running an
execution with a sequence file, closing the sequence file, overwriting
it with a different sequence file and reopening it and I was unable to
reproduce the problem. I got the new file opened as expected. This is
the equivalent situation since there is a completed execution still
open. The sequence editor does not use the Unload flag on
ReleaseSequenceFileEx, but it does use the UpdateFromDisk flag on
GetSequenceFileEx() and it seems to work, correctly loading the new
version of the file in this case. So there must still be something different in your case. I suspect that it's not the execution that has the extra reference in your case, but something else, perhaps the ApplicationMgr or SequenceFileViewmgr.
Also, as a side issue, if you are writing a custom UI, I'd recommend using UIMessages to determine when an execution completes rather than WaitForEndEx(). Basically handle the ApplicationMgr.UIMessageEvent and look for UIMsg_EndExecution and check that the execution associated with the UIMessage is the one you care about. Using the UIMessage like this has a couple of advantages:
    1) It allows your UI to go back to executing in it's main message processing loop (Some things will not work correctly without this).
    2) It gives you the potential to track and handle running multiple executions in parallel. Just look for and track the multiple UIMessages that such executions generate.
Please let us know if any of these ideas helps or if you are able to figure out the cause of the problem. If you are still unable to get it working and can't figure out the cause, please attach an example program and sequence files which reproduce the issue.
    Hope this helps,
    -Doug

    Hi,
Okular no longer reloads changed (pdf) files. I've been working with (Xe)LaTeX, Kile+Okular. It stopped reloading yesterday, for no apparent reason. Any ideas? Reload document on file change Okular checkbox is still on, in case you wonder...

  • BW 7.0 Reload Archived Files

    Hi everyone,
I am playing around with archiving in BW 7.0.
I created some .ARCHIVE files and have been reloading them into a copy of the original cube
using a DTP with the option "load from archive".
As I understand this always means a "full load".
Indeed when I execute the DTP all archived files for the original cube are loaded into the copy cube.
Is there a way to determine which .ARCHIVE files will be loaded (without having to physically
remove them from the archive server) ?
Suppose I only wanted to reload this particular .ARCHIVE file, how would I need to proceed ?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Rudi.

    Arun,
    Thank you for your reply.
I made several .ARCHIVE files using different selection criteria.
All these .ARCHIVE files refer to the same logical name.
When I look at the physical location of the .ARCHIVE files I can see the distinct files.
There are one or more files according to each archive request.
It would be convenient if I could determine which archive request I wanted to
    reload in my copy cube.
Anyone has hands-on experience with this type of archiving ?
    Kind regards,
    Rudi.

  • Best way to transfer custom EXS files to new system

Hi Guys. I am setting up a shared system computer at another studio, and so it was not appropriate to bring my old system drive that has become very bloated over the years.
Trouble is, starting from scratch with both Logic 9.1.8 and Logic 10.0.4 on ML 10.8.4, I no longer have the library and application support folders in User. That is where all the EXS instruments and samples that I have created over the years were kept.
Has anyone succeeded in setting it up from scratch, but placed all the legacy user files somewhere that Logic (both versions) could find them? Or have I updated myself out of existence?
    Thank you in advance.

    hi
would be good to identify the root cause of the performance degradation - if this is I/O subsystem, then moving to another physical volume may help.
If you use Linux, you've got for free ;-) the tools like iostat, vmstat, sar, top.
Storage throughput is most often the bottleneck.
