Reloading Files Onto iTunes...

What is the best procedure for reloading all song files and folders onto iTunes? I have attempted doing so using the upload library function and I have also attempted dropping and dragging. Both processes have shown problems in that the songs eventually seem to drop off of the iTunes database. The songs are listed but the connection between the listed song and the file folder where the wave file is stored seems to be lost. I get a prompt that says; iTunes cannot play this song - the original file cannot be found.
What is the best way to upload my entire catalouge to iTunes on my computer?

On your old disk, it should be in the Hard Drive/Users/<<username>>/Music/iTunes folder path. You should be able to just copy those files into your new iTunes folder and have everything as it used to be. But if you've added music since then, you'll have to manually move files and folder contents from the backup to the new. For example, you can probably copy the entire contents of the iTunes Music folder (within the iTunes folder) to the new iTunes Music folder. Just make sure not to overwrite anything until you're sure it's what you want to do. Also, if you Option-drag the files and folders, you will copy them into the new iTunes folder, and that way leave the backup folder intact instead of moving them.

1) find an MP3 file on your file system (in Windows Explorer)
2) Right click on it to get contextual menu
3) Select Properties
4) on the General Tab the text "opens with" appears - in your case it'll be windows Media Player

6) Select ITunes
7) Select Always for this type checkbox
8) Now try double clicking on an MP3 file
9) Does it start playing in ITunes?
10) Check Itunes settings: Edit>Preferences>Advanced
11) Are the checkboxes Keep Itunes folder organized and Copy to Itunes foler when adding selected? If not - read the manual to understand what those two settings do

Getting An AIFF file onto ITunes

Hey everyone,
ok, so i have read and reread all of the other posts and replies but none seem to really give an answer. I have a pretty large AIFF file on CD, its 1 track at 1:19:00 long. now when I intially tried saving it, only 2 mins of the track would save. And then when i clicked the Convert to AAC in ITunes, nothing at all would happen.
So Question.. How do I get the entire track into Itunes and also have it able to play on Ipod?
I am not as computer savvy as many people here so if someone coul give me a step by step that would be so helpful..

Thanks, but that didn't work. I repaired quick time, still not OK; so I repaired itunes and rebooted. I still get a blank stare from itunes when I try to import a file, and if I try to drag from the desk top, the itunes libraries get "Blued out" with and arrow that says link, and nothing happens.

Unable to put MP4 video files onto iTunes

i am using difficulties putting videos of MP4 format on iTunes so it would sync with my iPod Video.
i tried reinstalling MacOSX but it still doesn't work.

I Have that exact same problem me and my dad are trying to figure it out but we dont know, the only way i know is if you have bought quicktime pro then you can send your file to that then save it as a different type, thataway you can open it in itunes, but im not spending $30.00 on quicktime

Getting avi files onto iTunes

Please can someone help I feel like i've tried everything to make this work.
I have avi files on my hard drive and I want to be able to play them on my ipod. I have purchased quicktime pro ( which incidently also doesn't work) to try to convert them into ipod video files by exporting them. This only seems to loose the picture and place gaps in the sound every few seconds.
If there is anyone who can help i'd be really grateful.

I have just succesfully followed the instructions on how to get a video file onto my iPod using the sample that apple supply on the web. Hoever I have had no success in getting a file that I have created which is saved as an avi file onto itunes? Can anyone help out?

I always was able to transfer Windows Media Player Files to the iTunes library by going onto iTunes and clicking 'file - Add file to library' then choose the video file i wanted on iTunes. Then I would convert the video i placed on iTunes onto my iPod. However, it seems that ever since I downloaded iTunes version 7.0.2, i can no longer transfer windows media player video files onto iTunes for some reason, therefore making it impossible to convert to iPod. iPads sync to 1 computer only.
All media and apps are tied to the Apple ID that purchased them.
Without your relatives ID and password, you cannot update any of the Apps.
I am pretty certain he is also violating Apples terms of service by giving you the apps.

I do not have iMovie, so I can't try this!
Run iTunes with your iPad connected to the computer, either by the USB cable or by WiFi. Select the iPad under DEVICES in iTunes. Click on Apps at the top of the window and scroll down to File Sharing. If iMovie appears there, select it. The Documents window to the right is where you transfer files to (Add) and from (Save To) the iPad.

If you have a backup, restore the ENTIRE iTunes folder to the computer. This restores the library and device association files. If for some reason you chose to only back up the media and not the entire iTunes folder, then the only option is to let iTunes wipe the drive and re-sync.

So letme get this striaght...
You first create an album in iPhoto 08 with just the images you want put onto your iPhone 3G.
NEXT: you connect tou iPhone 3G and iTunews will open. You go to the iPhone in iTunes and select the photo tag and then select the album you had made for import and sync it with you iPhone. Will large image files automatically be resized for use on the iPhone 3G?
Most of my .JPG files are from 4 -5 MB each in size. What will it do with a RAW image file?

I am not 100% sure, but i BELIEVE that they do get resized because as it's syncing with the iPhone, iTunes will state that it is optimizing the selected photos for the iPhone, just like we would see for the iPod.

Dragging iTunes files onto disktop

I seem to have forgotten something. Unless my memory is worse than I thought it was, I used to drag songs from my iTunes library to my desktop in order to attach them to e-mail messages (I found this much faster than using the ATTACH button in my MAIL program .) Anyway, when I try to do it now, the song file doesn't stay on my desktop. What's at fault, my memory or my computer?

while not a direct answer to your question, if you want a very simple way to send a file, select the song in iTunes, look under the iTunes menu, choose Services, and then Mail, and Send File.
To think of all of the time I've wasted..... Well, better late than never. I worked! Thanks for the tip. It worked like a charm.
