So, I tried downloading an upgrade for it, and my computer keeps saying "Upgrade failed"
I just want to know how to get my firmware back, please help...

Is it a micro photo?Same thing is happeninghere. I've reloaded firmware .3.0, and it worked fine for about an hour, and then started again. It is playing fine, but it won't?stay connected to Napster or Rhapsody. What's the solution? Also, does using USB . make a difference in this situation?

  • Can't Reload Firmware on Zen MicroPhoto. Any advice is apprecia

    What iv'e tried so far:
So I goto the Revovery Menu, chose Reload Firmware.
Reply Yes and then it says it's erasing. It finishes and then screen gets garbled. Moving around in the menu gets rid of the garbled screen.
I connect to my PC and run the firmware exe.
It asks it's the same Version #, I click YES and starts flashing the Zen but in the end it says flash upgrade failed.
Any ideas? Not sure if it's even erasing anything...
I'm going to try and find an older version of the firmware in the meantime...

Realistically, you should never flash on battery alone. If the battery should fail, the process will - and, potentially, that's your player dead. You should always try and flash using a full battery and the AC adaptor - then, if the power dies, the battery will be the backup.
And now you know why Creative install recovery software that can't be re-flashed. If this was any other player, you'd be having all kinds of problems now...

  • Creative Zen Vision M 30 GB-firmware prob

I want to update me Zen Vision throw Recovery Mode....Select Reload firmware, player remove old firmware. Then i open file of firmware on my PC, but update not see my pleyer : "your pleyer is not . plese connect your pleyer.... WTF? Some body help. Before .50 firmvare i update normaly!(From .40 to .5)?Sorry for my English.i.m from Russia

There are a multitude of problems that could be causing your player to exhibit this behavior in addition to battery failure, including the failure of the main logic board. If the player has been dropped a few times, exposed to excessi've heat, or high humidity/water, the problem might not be the battery. On the other hand, if the battery has been allowed to fully exhaust on a regular basis and left uncharged for long periods, it is possible that the battery could be dead, but LIon batteries usually last at least 2-3 years with regular use and normal recharging practices if they haven't been abused.

  • Creative zen reload firmware problem

Hi i have an 8gb zen and I accidentally made a "reload firmware" from rescue mode men and my player is not working now... Is there any way to recover it's Thanks il capo

    Hi Ali_pea,
Your link goes to the firmware for the NOMAD Jukebox 6/0/20/c.
I do believe you have the Zen since you posted in this thread, so you might want to download from here:
    For Europe:
    http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=0890
For the rest of the world:
    http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=0889
The filename is ZEN_PCFW_L22__2_03.exe which is firmware version .2.03 for Creative Zen (only).

  • Reload Firmware = R.I

HELP... I tried to load 2..02 and the load hung and never finished. So I went into recovery and tried the reload firmware option and now my Micro shows firmware v0.0.58 and will not leave recovery mode. when you power off the micro, it says firmware problem. When you try to reload the firmware, I get the message that the player is not connected. I have reloaded the software, tried another usb port even tried other computers. Is my shiny somewhat new micro dead for ever?

    It does sound bad unfortunately.
The 0.0.58 is the rescue mode version, and doesn't relate directly to the firmware version.
All you can do is try entering rescue mode, hit the firmware reload option, then connect it to the PC and try the latest v2 or v firmware. If neither of these work, and you have tried another PC (which will need to have Win XP and WMP0 installed as the v2 firmware was the last installed) then your next option is to contact support.

  • Reload firmware: how does it wo

I am stuck on the Recovery Mode.
When I select Reload firmware, a message announces that firmware is being erased. I hear lots of disk noises... Then I get a Hard Dri've error.
What do I have to do before clicking on Reload Firmware?
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Please help. Thanks.

There's no special sequence, you just select reload firmware.
Based on all your other problems, and now the hard dri've errors, your player must be faulty. As you've already contacted supported you could wait for a response from them, or phone them on Monday to escalate it, so that you can get the player replaced.

  • How to reload firmware for MTP dev

I upgrade my firmware to v2.0 and then my Micro froze and stayed in "recovery mode" no matter what i do. My Windows now recognize it as a "windows portable device" instead of under "USB". However
Window MediaPlayer complain about the device not connected. Even worse looks like the firmware update .exe only works for '"USB device," I cant reload firmware to my Micro.BTW, as soon as I upgrade firmware initially and reboot, it says firmware problem and stayed in "recovery mode".
Looks like every one who tries this firmware 2.0 ends up having a dead Micro. Think Creative should address this problem and either issue a patch online or voluntary repair all Micro for free whether they are under warranty or not.

I have a similar problem with my Zen Touch. During a firmware upgrade to PlayForSure, Windows detected the Zen Touch as a new MTP Device. It then prompted me to install the necessary software for this device, I selected "install automatically" but Windows XP failed to do this.
I am now stuck with my Zen having no functional firmware at all, and every time I connect it to the PC the "Found New Hardware Wizard" prompts me to install software for the new MTP Device. This fails every time.
Running the update firmware exe file always tells me that my Zen is not connected to the computer. Even though it is.
What can I do? How do I get the firmware updater to see my player?

  • Reload Firmware Kills Mi

After hours of perusing these boards, and finding dozens of people with the same problem, I am amazed that someone doesn't just spell out one simple fact here: If you use the "Reload Firmware" command on the 'recovery' menu, you have an expensi've paper-weight.
Why on earth would someone choose that dangerous command in the first place? Because the 'beta' firmware that is needed for Napster-to-Go doesn't work right. Any notion of getting rid of the beta firmware, and going back to the original is a myth. Once you blow up the firmware, there is no way you are going to bring the Zen Micro back from the dead.
Once the firmware is gone: your PC will not recognize that you have the unit connected; you will never again see any other menu BUT the recovery menu; and you will never be able to upgrade the firmware of a unit that is not recognized by the computer. You can try it on as many PC's as you like (I tried two others as some suggested, all with completely up to date XP SP2's, with WMP 0, and all updates), you can change USB ports to your heart's delight -- but this one simple fact is not going to change: if you killed the firmware the unit is unusable.
Why on earth isn't this all-important fact in the 'special' messages at the top of the forum? Why did I have to spend 2 hours of digging to find out many others have been forced to return their unit for this problem?
I would like to hereby challenge the Creative folks who are on this forum: why don't you just take a dozen Zen Micro's, click on the Reload Firmware command, and then tell us step by step how to bring them back to life. Obviously it can't be done, or you would have already posted such instructions; so why not post a warning not to use that command prominently on this board?

    Jason,
In response to your reply to my post about the Zen Micro being inoperable after using the "Reload Firmware" command:
Yes - the Zen Micro worked for about 5 days after receiving it, although the software was buggy as hell interacting with Napster to Go, which was the only thing that made me buy the Zen in the first place. I would never have installed the 'beta' firmware, except that there was no way to use Napster without it.
No - the computer is not 'having a connection problem' as you suggested. I fell for that line of reasoning, and spent hours putting it on 3 computers (up to date with the latest updates) - but just as someone else replied here, if there is no firmware on the ZM it is NOT recognized by ANY computer.
Your message does not make it clear whether you did a reload firmware command on a unit that already had MTP firmware 2..02, as I and many others have tried to do. The fact of the matter is that you can launch the firmware install program, but it stops dead in its tracks and says it cannot detect the player.
Against my better judgment, I have asked Amazon for a replacement unit to be sent instead of a refund. I do not have high hopes that another unit won't also be unstable with the beta firmware - although at least this time I will avoid the "Reload Firmware" command like the plague. If it weren't for the Outlook sync feature, I would have gone to another brand until the Napster-Zen Micro deal is ready for prime time.
I still feel users on this board should be warned more prominently about the high likelihood of killing their zen if they use the reload firmware command. I have read countless other posts on this board that have gone through exactly the same experience, and have ended up either replacing or returning their units. Had such a warning been clearly posted, I would still have a working unit, as I read through hundreds of posts before and right after the purchase, and could have been forewarned not to attempt a firmware reload.

  • Zen micro 5gb firmware prob

i have owned my zen micro for over 2 years, about a month ago my zen started freezing so i decided to reload the firmware. i accessed recovery mode fine and then clicked the reload firmware option. i had the latest firmware downloaded but i cant get the upgrade program to work. it says my zen is not connected even though it is. i really dont want to buy another player, is there a fix? i read that there is an issue with wmp but i didnt know if it was true. i do have wmp on my computer but i wasnt aware that there were any problems with it.
i have emailed creative tech support and while they replied quickly their suggestion did not help (get rid of all startup programs). im hoping someone in the forums has a suggestion.
    help!
    thanks

    I HAVE FOUND A FIX

Rolling back to a previous version of the Player
Windows Media Player is a feature of the Windows operating system and cannot be removed entirely. However, in Windows XP, you can roll back to the version of the Player that was previously on your computer.
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to perform the following procedure.
Disconnect any portable music or video devices that might be attached to your computer.
    2.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    3.
In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
    4.
Click Windows Media Player , and then click Remove.
If Windows Media Player is not displayed in the list of currently installed programs, then try the following:
At the top of the list, select the Show updates check box.
    2.
In the Windows XP - Software Updates section, click Windows Media Player , and then click Change/Remove.
    5.
In each of the two confirmation dialog boxes that appear, click OK.
    6.
When the rollback process is complete (it might take several minutes), click Restart.
    7.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    8.
In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
    9.
Click Windows Media Format Runtime, and then click Remove.
If Windows Media Format Runtime is not displayed in the list of currently installed programs, then try the following:
At the top of the list, select the Show updates check box.
    2.
In the Windows XP - Software Updates section, click Windows Media Format Runtime, and then click Change/Remove.
If you installed a non-US English version of Windows Media Player , the instructions in the dialog boxes that are mentioned in steps 9, 0, and might appear in English.
    0.
In the first confirmation dialog box that appears, click OK.
In the second confirmation dialog box that appears, select the Do you want to continue with the rollback? check box, and then click OK.
    2.
When the rollback process is complete (it might take several minutes to complete), click Restart.
    3.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    4.
In the Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
    5.
Click Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack .0.0, and then click Remove.
    6.
Follow the instructions that appear in the Software Update Removal Wizard.
If the Wudf0000 confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes to continue. When the software removal process is complete (it might take several minutes to complete), click Finish.
Note If you remove Windows Media Player and the Windows Media Format Runtime, and then encounter error C00D27D ("A problem has occurred in the Digital Rights Management component. Contact Microsoft product support."), you might be able to resolve the problem by installing the Windows Media Format 9.5 Runtime. For information about installing the Runtime, in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, see article 8922, "Update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players."
You might not be able to roll back to a previous version of the Player if the hidden folder $NtUninstallwmp$ is deleted from your computer. Some non-Microsoft programs (such as CCleaner) delete this folder in an attempt to remove unwanted files from your computer.
then download the latest firmware file and run it.
WHAT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW
when i ran the update program it showed all the bars filled but then said the firmware update failed. apparently it didnt fail cuz its working right now. after u do all this u can reinstall wmp to sync ur files.
    so heres the ste
    ps.
uninstall wmp and the framework package
    do the firmware update
    reinstall wmp
i dont know if anyone ever suggested this but it worked for me
    good luck everyone!
    ps.
if i find that this fails later on then it is definately an issue with creatives firmware. ill keep u all posted

  • RELOAD FIRMWARE PROBLEM ZEN VISION M 3

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF RELOADING THE FIRMWARE FOR MY PLAYER. FILE? VERSION .62 02 .DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW LONG THE PROCESS TAKES, I HAVE THE UPGRADING FIRMWARE BOX SHOWING ON MY PC SCREEN . IT SHOWS UPGRADING FIRMWARE PLEASE WAIT BUT FOR HOW LONG, IT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A COUPLE OF HOURS ALREADY, IS THIS NORMAL. PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE THANKS

I asume your charging your player via the USB suply from your P.C and you dont have a creative power adaptor?
most 5 volt power adaptors should work with your vision:M as long as they are as follows:
    Are a regulated supply:
most 5 volt suplys are regulated, but some cheaper uni'versal power supplys are un regulated these typicly have a voltage output selection on them, check the packaging.
Have the coorect polarity, check the pins have the positi've and negati've supy on the correct pins, this is almost always marked on the device and the power supply showing a + and - symbol and a line to the centre pin usualy marked as a dot and the outer pin marked like a C
the correct output voltage, 5 volts DC is whats needed
As for current this is sometimes rated in amps or milli amps (Mah i think) as long as the power supply is powerful enough this shouldnt matter, unlike voltage it shouldnt matter too much, although if you have a multi meter it might be useful to check the output voltage bofore using the power supply.
A suitable alternati've to the creative power supply would be one suitable for another 5 volt device such as a playstation portable.

seems my zen micro player locking up while doing the first firmware update and now the playing is stuck in recovery mode.it comes up with "firmware problem".
    now what do i do?

the problem just occured last night while trying to load up new firmware for it,the . went it fine, loading in the next firmware update, the firmware update program locked up my computer and then like an idiot,i reset the computer.the player was still being reconizged,,then loading up the zen explorer,it said the player is not connected.i unplugged it and reset the computer again, then the MTP device is coming up.
nothing happens with any of the options.i even tried erasing the firmware to maybe wipe it clean and then try to reload the firmware.i didn't use the zen for awhile cause i have no time to listen to it and i can't bring it to work.
the firmware i had on the player was with came with it when i bought it.don't remember what it was.
i bought the zen when they first came out,so i don't think it was an MTP verison{don't know why when i plug the device in,it can't find the "MTP Device Files" needed.it's a zen micro 5gig
