Reloading iLife on my Mac Mini

I do not know how to reload iLife on my Mac Mini. I do not have iLife '06. I have the previous version.
It came installed on my mini but has since "cracked out" after some "housekeeping" on my mac (my husband may have thrown some important stuff away).
Can you point me in the right direction?

I reloaded the software and still nothing really changed. My problem is twofold. Since the issue began, my iPhoto won't recognize jpeg photos that it used to have in the library. I try to import, but it says the file isn't compatible. Mind you, they used to be in iPhoto as the exact same jpeg photos.
The second, more important problem is that my iMovie will no longer connect to my Sony Handycam. It used to connect fine, now it won't. It's not the camera or the firewire because I tried both on my work Mac and it worked fine on iMovie.
Please help me. All of my troubles seem to stem from iLife apps. I have a mac mini running OS X 10.3.9 512 MB DDR SDRAM and am using the version of iLife that came on my mini (not iLife '06).
Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
If you have a Mac OS X 10.4 install disk, there
should be an installer on that disk named something
like "install additional software only". This
installer will let you pick and choose between the
non-Mac OS X system software that came installed on
your Mac mini (things like iLife, AppleWorks and the
games). If you have a Mac OS X 10.3 install disk,
it's possible that it came with iLife '04 installed
and you should have received an iLife '05 install
disk. But it doesn't sound like this is the case.

  • The Apple Store recommended wiping and reloading software on my Mac Mini yesterday.  In the process I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage Band.  How can I get them back?

I took my Mac Mini to the Apple store yesterday since I was having trouble with difficult to read text.  They recommended wiping the drive and reloading it.  I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage band in the process.  How can I get them back.  The App store says they are already installed.

What I missed was that I needed to select "Purchased" rather than using the normal listing of items.  Once I went to the purchased list I could easily download the various software.
Thank you all for your help.

  • How do i reload my pre installed mac mini with no lion disk

Hi, I bought a macmini in december 2011, the 2.5ghz with amd HD6630m vga card and i want to reload lion on my mac but i have not received restore disk with it, my mac did not come with any ? When i try and do a internet restore it tells me i did not bye lion ? my mac came preloaded with it. How do i go about reloading lion ? If this can not be done, how would i installl mountain lion should it come out this month ?
please help as i am new to reloading macosx as i always used windows reloads that was a lot simpler with a dvd.

Most of those cleaner programs are useless unless you have a specific problem that warrants their use.
Clearing Caches will slow the computer down for  the short term as the caches are used to speed it up. Until they get rebuilt, you'll see slowness.
There aren't any useful Mac "maintenance" programs. Some of them can be useful for specific problems, but shouldn't be used periodically, "just in case."
Is there anything in the Activity Monitor that is using a lot of cpu%
Third-party programs that are incompatible might be trying to do something they can't. Check for updates if you find any.

  • I am having trouble with my Mac Mini's ethernet connection.   Defining a new network interface shows no ethernet adaptor.  Reloading SL from DVD repaired.  But SL update lost ethernet again.  Will Lion Fix?

I am having trouble with my mac mini ethernet.  It had been working for weeks after an update to SL 10.6.8.
Once it went out and i repaired it by defining a new connection from System Preferences ->Network->(left panel service, +).
But yesterday, after a power up.  my ethernet was not working again. I tried this old trick to repair it, but the interface choices
listed for '+' a new service did not include Ethernet any more.  And the Utilities->System Profiler->Ethernet Cards shows
    no ethernet available.
As a last ditch effort i reloaded my original SL from DVD.  (I think it was version 10.6.4 but i could be mistaken on the version).
The ethernet worked!  But KeyNote wasn't going to work because apparently the version i purchased depends on 10.6.8.
So I upgraded again to SL 10.6.8 (Plus some other updates like AirPort which i don't use).
Now the Ethernet is not working again.  I see the same symptoms as before with the Ethernet seeming not installed.
Is this a problem seen by others?
Would going to Lion fix the problem?
Could AirPort actually be the culprit and not SL?
If i stay with my original SL, would i need to repurchase a version of KeyNote for the older version of SL?

    Have you reset the SMC?
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
While you're at it, resetting the PRAM won't hurt anything and 'might' help is SMC reset didn't work (PRAM does some port control):
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
Something else you might try .... you don't say how you're updating to 10.6.8, however, if you're using Software Update, you might try downloading the 10.6.8 combo update, which contains all updates to 10.6. Sometimes, Software Update doesn't work quite right, and installing the combo update fixes that. Download the update from Apple's download site at http://support.apple.com/downloads/ , using Disk Utility repair permissions, apply the combo update, then repair permissions again.

  • Why can't I reinstall my iLife suite of apps on my Mac Mini after having reinstalled Snow Leopard OSX?

Unfortunately my Mac Mini I use for audio production work and web design got slower and slower until one day it just gave up! I blame the internet for this, as before I started using the internet on this computer it was fine, nice and fast without any problems.
I tried reinstalling just the OSX but that didn't work, so I ended up erasing the disk with a full 35-pass option which failed itself after the eleventh pass, but it had still done what I wanted and completely erased the hardisk, so I wasn't bothered. However, now in Utilities, it wasn't finding any hardisk!!! I powered off and thankfully this time the disk was showing and so I tried installing the OSX again and this time it worked!
Next it was time to reinstall iLife that had come with the Mac Mini. No chance! Same error message every time to contact the software manufacturer!!! I've read on the communities that after 2012 this version of iLife apparently doesn't work. Is this true? If so then Apple is ripping customers off. Why should we have to keep upgrading all the time? As the old saying goes, "if it ain't broken, don't fix it!" If this is true that iLife won't work after 2012 then basically Apple is saying that its products are so crap that they won't work after a few years!! Surely not. I've also read in the communities that one person had to pay another $18 out for an iLife suite that works, what crap! Whatever came with the computer should work with the computer and not be limited to just a few years life and we shouldn't have to pay out for another disc when the original has be kept securely in its original packaging! I have an old Windows XP PC which is still going strong today and up until a year ago I had an old Windows 3.1 PC which was still working 22 years after purchase and I still had occasional tasks to carry out on it at DOS level!!
So I'm beginning to wonder whether I should go back to PCs if Apple computers have such a limited lifespan.
I look forward to your comments.

  • How do i reload OS X Server on Mac Mini, App store says installed but no reset or reload, system tells me to reinstall

how do i reload OS X Server on Mac Mini, App store says installed but no reset or reload, system tells me to reinstall?

Reboot holding down the Command and R keys.  This will get you in to the Recovery partition.  From there you can reinstall the entire OS.  Please note, Server.app will not be included in the reinstall.  You will need to log into your App store account to download it.

  • 2010 Mac Mini Server & iLife

Hello, I am thinking of buying the Mac Mini Server so I can do some hosting from home. But am I able to install iLife and other apps such as CS5 just so I can do some things on the side? Or is there some issues with running client software on the server OS. Thanks.
    Richard

Beware of using OSX sofware on server.
I planned to use Finale 2010 on my Mac Mini Server 2010 and it does not work.
As a registered user I contacted Make Music technical support and after serveral email instructions they officially confirmed that their software is not compatible with server version.
The requirements set by software only refer to OSX unspecifically, so you may encounter problems.
    Best regards.

  • Does the Mac Mini Server include iLife?

    Hi,
I couldn't find a question to this anywhere...
I'm considering buying a Mac Mini Server soon.
Question - Does the Mac Mini Server include iLife?

When Apple first came out with the Mini with Snow Leopard server, even their sales support people said it came with iLife. (They no longer make that mistake.)
By using the statements of sales support and by referring to the claims on the iLife page (which you quote) -- with some insistence on my part -- I was able to get AppleCare to send me iLife for free. Worth a try. Though frankly, my time would have been better spent just buying the iLife.

  • Do Mac Mini installation CDs include iLife?

I have a 2007 Mac Mini running OS X (10.5.7) Leopard. It has iLife 08, but I don't have an installation CD for iLife 08. I have the OS X (10.5.7) installation CDs, do they include iLife 08? I want to use the CDs to install the OS and iLife 08 onto a secondhand iBook I am buying.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
The original OS X disks that came with your mini would have iLife on it. The original OS X disks that came with your mini can't be used to install OS X on the iBook you are buying, as they only work on the system type that they were delivered with. If you want to install iLife on the iBook you're buying, you'll need to find a retail copy to install.

  • Can I move my iWeb from mac-mini to my new macbook pro ? iLife 11 does not have iWeb and I really want to use it to update my website on my new macbook Pro instead of Mac mini

Can I move my iWeb from mac-mini to my new macbook pro ? iLife 11 does not have iWeb and I really want to use it to update my website on my new macbook Pro instead of Mac mini

There is no license required for iWeb.  Just do a Wyodor suggested and you'll be ready to go. If you're running Lion however, consider the following:
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Just installed Mac OS X 10.8 in Mac Mini and cant find iLife

    Hi
I just bought a couple days ago a Mac Mini, I upgrade to Mac OS X 10.8.3 and now I want to use the Apps like Imovie o Garrage Band but I cant find it....I tried to download form the App Store, so I juct create a Apple ID for myself but I cant download the App for free (since this computer includes the iLife pack Apps)
    Anyone can help me?
    Thanks
    - H.

I bought this from a guy in New Jersey-USA.
I bring to my country (Peru) and I realized that there was nothing about the Ilife apps (imovie, garageband, etc).
So I reinstall the OS (Mas OS 10.8.3 muntain lion) assuming that the apps would came pre installed..but nothing.
through Email, Apple latin support tried to help me and suggest me go to the folder ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore  and delete the file "adoption.plist", move it to the desktop, open the AppStore and go to Purchased to download my Apps.... but I´m not able to find the "adoption.plist" file
Btw, the Mac Mini still is under warranty, but I dont know if I can make warranty claim in my country

  • Selling my Mac Mini but will iLife be there after wipe and re-install

    Hi there
I am wanting to sell my 2011 Mac Mini which originally came with Lion installed. In the time I've had it I've upgraded it through ML and it's now running Mavericks. Obviously I'm going to erase the hard drive and then re-install OSX before selling and I'm comfortable with how to do this but I'm now wondering about the iLife software that came with my Mac.
    My questions are;
    a) the recovery partition, will this still have a copy of Lion there or will that have been upgraded to Mavericks as well?
    b) If the recovery partition is set now for Mavericks, I have read in other threads that if I re-install any version of the OS that is different to the one that originally shipped with my Mac (Lion) then the new owners will not have access to the iLife bundle that was pre-installed and will have to purchase it from the Mac App Store. Is this true?
    c) If this is true is there anyway I can revert the Mac mini back to Lion so then the new owners will have access to the iLife software and then upgrade to Mavericks themselves?
Obviously I would prefer the iLife suite to be available as this makes my Mac more attractive when selling. Before it was so much easier when Apple actually gave out Install discs as you could just re-install from them without any issues. Now with the Mac App Store and this new way of obtaining apps preparing a Mac for sale is a bit more complicated.
Any advise regarding this is greatly appreciated.
    John

Here is the link I lef tout of my first reply
OS X: About OS X Recovery
I think that if you do what
What to do before selling or giving away your Mac
says and then setup the Mac with your ID, your ID will have to remain on the computer in order to update the OS.
The same may apply for iWorks since you had to sign in to download iWorks

  • Mac Mini runs SOOO SLOW.  Wheel of Death spins all the time.  Should I reload all the software?

I own four Macs, which includes three laptops and a Mac Mini.  One laptop uses Mavericks, the other two laptops are Lions. They ALL work GREAT at a quick speed.  The Mini, on the same wireless, runs soooo much slower, I wonder if there's a virus on it. The wheel of death is constantly spinning every time I click anywhere, i.e. Opening a new program, new file, or surfing the net. SOMETIMES FOR 30 SECONDS +.  Nothing is quick.   I took it to the Apple store, and they said there's plenty of space on it.  It's OS X Lion 10.7.5. 11 G63.  I noticed if I shut it down and restart it, it works better with less tabs open in Google Chrome.
I really don't know anything about computers. I have Word and Excel loaded on it. Should I delete the hard drive and start all over? Could there be a virus on it?  I don't know where the software is for the Microsoft product... If I wrote down the serial numbers of Word and Excel, is that enough to reload it?
    Thanks so much!

Make sure your trash is emptied, also your iPhoto trash is emptied, your caches are are clear, build up of these can rally slow things down.

Chance of a virus is slim, macs are quite good at taking care of themselves, and most anti-virus software will slow down your computer and not really protect you at all, so stay away from that stuff.

  • Reformatted my Mac Mini lost iLife apps

I have a 2011 model Mac Mini running Os X Lion. After some recent issues, I opted to reformat my computer thinking the iLife apps that came with my computer would still be on there after the reboot. I was wrong to think that.
I would just buy them again (all I want is iMovie and Garageband) but neither of their current version will run on my system. I have no intention of upgrading to Yosemite because I've heard nothing but bad reviews. Is it possible for me to buy older versions of the softwares? I would gladly pay the same amount as I would have to for the new ones.
Let me know if you can help me out.
    Thanks,
    Tyler

If your Mac mini came with OS X Lion, try opening the Mac App Store, logging in with your Apple ID, going to Purchases and downloading iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand for free. However, you may be asked to upgrade to OS X Yosemite in order to install those apps, although the Mac App Store may allow you to download the latest version compatible with your Mac OS X version. You should not need to purchase them.
If you are not allowed to download a compatible version, you will have to upgrade to OS X Yosemite (it's not so bad; if you have any problem, just reinstall OS X). Now you know you have to make backups of your files, so do one.
