Reloading in to ODS

Data flow is ODS1 to ODS2 and ODS2 to CUBE and Info Object. 5 years of data is in the data targets. Some description of 2005 and 2006 were missing and double count problems were there in the ODS2,cube, and Info Object. So active table of ods2 was deleted by using selective deletion(fiscyear). Request was turned red in cube and info object, then deleted.
Again data has to be reloaded from ods1 to ods2 again ods2 to cube and info object.
for that i deleted only active table contents for the above period. Change log table is not yet disturbed. is it correct.. what to do with that..

Thanks for your response. I have check the Table: RSODSACTREQ and I can see 475 request on this ODS and all 475 requests are belongs to my last load only. I tried one of the SDN expert suggestion that change the parallel processing settings into "1" through tcode: RSCUSTA2 & activate ODS. But still it fails. Shall i try the SAP Note 947481 option which denote to delete the active table. Thanks in advance.

Selection TAB in ODS and Cube

Hi Friends,
I see Selection TAB in the manage TAB of ODS and Cube, what is the difference of this TAB in cube and ODS??
Is this selection criteria we give in the Data Selection TAB of Infopackage for that particular data target??

This is to be used when you have to selectively delete data from the ODS. For example lets say you've realized that the data is being loaded incorrectly into the ODS from some time (past 3 months). But not all the data is incorrect but only for a few customer numbers (as an example). In this case, you use this selective deletion and give the customer numbers which have incorrect data and delete these records. After deletion and fixing the root cause, you can reload to the ODS using the same selections in the infopackage (mark the request as full repair if you have deltas going into the ODS at the same time). Delete previous ODS request

Hello,
I am currently doing a full load from source to ODS every night. I want to delete the previous data from this source and then reload with the new source. Does anyone have any idea on this. I cant delete all the data as there are other sources to the ODS that i dont want to disturb.

Hi Laura
It is impossible to selectively delete requests from an ODS once they have been activated. Once the records have been activated they are added or updated to the active data table and the request ID disappears.
Have a look at this link for how the ODS activation works:

The only option is to do a full delete and reload of the ODS each night. If that is not acceptable you may have to think about remodelling it.
Try having 2 ODS, one for current data which gets deleted and reloaded every night and another for history?

Selective deletion and reload to DSO to DSO

I stuck with an issue where i did selective deletion for 2nd level DSO where there was some wrong billing documents and Repair full reloded from 1st level DSO. Key figure values were uploaded but master data was missing Eq. Company code was missing after reload. Please suggest for this issue. Thank you

Hi,
Check the data in base ODS and see if it has same values for company codes. If everything is fine, just go for selective deletion of those billing documents again in second level and reload from base ODS. Activate and check it again.

How to reprocess delta records during subsequent update of data targets

Hi,
I have an ODS which sends in delta records to a cube above it. Now there is a data load, happening monthy from a flat file, which was successful upto the ODS, but failed in the cube due to one invalid record. How do I reprocess this data load after correction of the invalid records in the source flat file?
The method I currently follow is to delete the failed request from the cube and then do a selective delete of records from the ODS and then reload the last data after correction.
Is there a better way to just reprocess the last load from the flat file?

Thanks for the response. I will explain a bit more in detail. Suppose there are 5 records coming in from the flat file - now 4 of those records are correct and one has invalid data.
All 5 records get loaded to the ODS successfully but in the cube we have a function module which works on the data and aborts the entire data package if it finds even one invalid record. So nothing gets loaded into the cube at all.
Now if we correct the one invalid record and then reload into the ODS - it will just send this corrected record over to the cube and we will miss out on the other 4 records which were originally correct since the ODS does not detect them as changed.
If we delete the request from the ODS (rather than doing the selective delete) then it disables the delta in the ODS asnd we have to reinitialise everything - which we cannot afford to do in a production environment.
Hope the problem is a bit more clear now.
I was looking for some way to just resend all the five records - with the one corrected record to the cube without going through this selective delete process sinc eits too cumbersome and we run the risk of messing up with actual data ina production environment.

0fiar_c03 problems again :-(

I cant delta load 0fiar_c03 from ODS, when i try to load from ODS the message is "Data target 0FIAR_C03 still includes delta request REQU_65Y8C7DW98ONRE5G2PGHTSLET"... i deleted the request in infocube but the message is still the same... any clues please???

It seems that the update tried to reload all the ODS because after i deleted the request for the tables you mentioned now the message is for another request... can i delete the content of the infocube and loaded again from ODS checking initial load??

Change length of Info object

Hello,
I have an infoobject with NUMC as data type and length 3. I need to change the length to 4 and keep the data type same. This infoobject is included in 6 or more ODS and cubes and is also a navigational attribute of another info object.
The infoobject already has MD loaded in it via a flat file. it can also be loaded directly through R/3, but the team has decided not to pursue that option.
My question is: Can I change the length to 4 without emptying the cubes and ODS? If so, how will it affect my MD? Is there any way to change the transactional data in the cube to 4 digits..by padding it with zero?
The only option that I see in front of me is to delete all the data in the infoobject. pad the data in the flat file so that it is 4 digits instead of 3 (I think I should be fine even if i don't do this). Delete all the ODS and cubes that contain this info object. Also delete all the data in the other info object that has this info object as a navigational attribute. Reload all the ODS and cubes and info object after the changes have been done.
Any other suggestions?

I reopened the post because the Q about the transport was related to the same post. I did not want to have 2 threads open for the same thing.
It does seem that when I transported it to BWQ, the tranfer structure was activated, but the infoobject has not been activated and gives me an error. It states that the tables need to be converted. So i guess I have to make the changes manually in QA.

Reinit/Reload for added/changed fields in PO line item and GL ODS

Hi all,
Probably this is usual process in SAP BW.
I have changed 2Lis_item data source and added few fields in 0Pur_o1 ods.
In ods there is data from 2006 to till date.
Now I have to move my changes to Production system. I have to delete and reload compele data again then only I will get values for added fields.
Similar way I have changed 0fi_gl datasource and added few new fields in GL field.
What is the best approach I should follow to get all history data with all new values and start delta ?

Ok,
Just do this:
You've your GL ODS with data from 2006, 2007 and 2008.
You've deltas running.
Before transporting your changes to productive run all the deltas.
Then transport your changes.
After that if you want the history to be updated with your changes you should delete your delta and create a new one without any data (delta init without any data). That should mark the flag init from that point.
This means the next delta will bring any changes created from that new init to front. To load the history you can do full repairs until you have load all your data.

Reloading of deleted data from ODS to cube

i have deleted the data from the cube using selective option in the cube. Now i want to reload the deleted data. Since i have data in ODS i am loading it into cube. But it is doing a full update which i don't need. I wanted only the deleted data to be reloaded from ODS. Since i have some routines and rules in the cube. i am deleting the cube and reloading the data. Could anyone suggest

R u aware of it that which value u hav deleted................if u know that..........then run full IP with selection......In the Data Selection tab u give the selection........provided that field is included in the Data selection tab..........if not and if u hav authorization........then u can go to RSO2.....in the source system....Give the datasource name.........go to change mode .........Check the selection box for that field.......then activate the datasource............again replicate it.............then Activate the transfer rule using the program : RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL.........
Then that field will be available there for selection..............But do this if it is must to do the load in this way..............

Reload an infocube from an ODS with erroneous information

Hi:
I have an Infocube that is update from an ODS. My problem consists in the R/3 system from LO, they put an invalid string. It pass without a problem from R/3 to the ODS. But when it makes the request to load the infocube it displays red light because of this string.
I made a selective delete from the ODS, but when i run the chain proces just to load the data from ODS to the infocube it continue this mistake.
Is there any table that I have to delete?

Hi Herr,
The selective delete from the ODs would just remove the records from the Active table of the ODS, not the Change logs (from which the delta records move). If you like you can set up error handling in the InfoPackage loading to the cube, so that this record is held back and the others go through and reporting is enabled. Or if the record is required and removing it will change the numbers, you can try to change this record in the PSA and correct it, then load from PSA to the cube.

When i try to reload the same data what will happen in my ods?

for instance:

And this has been loaded by some one else.
If i am going to load the same data in the ods. will it create 2 entries nor just going to be only one entry.
i meant will it be like this

nor like this

   10002          xac           234.

Hi,
If two Records of same key combination is there then over writing will happn in ODS. Within the request overwriting is done in the updation(from change log table to active data table). Within different request overwriting is done during activation(new data table to change log table) Zero record mode is doing this.

Reloading an ODS

I have deleted a request from an ODS, and I see a trash can icon for the request. Looks like it is scheduled for deletion. Can I start a load again of the same data before the request is deleted?

Yes - trash icon is scheduled for deletion. It's better to wait until complete deletion before re-load.

Reloading ODS

I want to Delete the data in an ODS, Since the load seems to have stopped. I check SM37 and the Batch job has been canceled. But when I try and delete the ODS data i get an message that the loading is not yet completed. How do I ill the process?

make the QM status from yellow to red and delete the request from ODS. refresh the ods to know the status of the request. if it's not get deleted means, come back from ods. check once again with manage. after deleting the request from ods, you can do fresh load.

Error while resetting the delta in ODS (BI 7.0)

I have an ODS-1 which has target cube1, cube2, cube3....One week back a new target has been added as ODS-2....All complete data from ODS1 has been piped into ODS 2..(Note.. ODS2 has many more inputs from other cubes/ODS too)
NO issues till now....
I found a data problem in ODS-1 which got loaded 15 days back..... I have removed all 15 requests from cube1, cube2 and cube3... Now I am trying to reset the delta in ODS1...
I am getting the following error....Infoprovide ODS2 still contains request... Delete this first....
Since ODS2 has many other data alongwith ODS1... If I try deleting request from ODS2,, I need to clean it totally and redo... I dont want to do this...
Is there any way to disconnect this delta link between ODS1 - ODS2..... So that I will reload the data in ODS1 and populate into all targets...

I dont think you can disconnect the link. just delete the requests originating from ODS1 in ODS2 and you can leave all other requests intact that are from other dataproviders and do a reinit.

Get back the Data mart status in ODS and activate the delta update.

I got a problem when deleting the requests in ODS.
actually there is Cube(1st level. it gets loaded from an ODS(2nd level). this gets loaded from 3 ODS'S( 3rd level). we were willing to delete recents requests from all the data tardets and reload from PSA. but while delting in the request in ODS(2nd level), it has displayed a window, showing as follows.
- the request 132185 already retrived by the data target BP4CLT612.
-Delta update in BP4CLT612 must be deactivated before deleting the request.
- Do you want to deactivate the delta update in data target BP4CLT612.
I have clicked on execute changes in the window. it has removed the data mart status for all the request which i have not deleted.
in the same it happened inthe 3 ODS's(3rd level).
I got clear that if we load further data from source system. it will load all the records from starting.
so to avoid this can any body help me how to reset the Data mart status and activate the delta update.

U have to make the requests RED in cube and back them out from cube,before u can go for request deletions from the base targets(from which cube gets data).
Then u have to reset data mart status for the requests in your 'L2 ODS' before u can delete requests from ODS.
Here I think u tried to delete without resetting data mart status which has upset the delta sequence.
To correct this..
To L2 ODS,do an init without data transfer from below 3 ODS's after removing init request from scheduler menu in init infopackage.
Do similar from L2 ODS to Cube.
then reconstruct the deleted request in ODS.It will not show the tick mark in ODS.Do delta load from ODS to Cube.
