Reloading old tabs, opening in a small window
Every time I open firefox, it opens up in a small window on the top, like it only displays the address bar. I have to resize it to do or see anything. It also doesn't restore my previous session, even though it is set to. I can go to file/exit and it will open correctly, but I never have had to before, so something is different. I have been using Firefox for multiple years and this is the only time I have been frustrated with it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still no luck, i cleared cache, history, cookies, etc. Please help
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

when i close window with multiple tabs and start new session (open new window) old tabs open again, how can i stop it?
It is possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
* Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

One of my bookmarks only opens in a small window & can't be maximized
for some reason when I click on my YouTube channel now in my bookmarks, it only opens in a small window to the left & can’t be maximized, nor can I see the address on the top, if I open a new tab & click on any other bookmark it goes to that website, if I copy/paste my channel it goes to it, but if I open another tab & click on my bookmark for the channel & copy/paste again it closes 1 tab.
Also, it also looks like you can only have about 10 visible bookmarks in the unsorted area (unlike favorites in IE, where you can have a very long list including folders, & if its too long for the window you just go to the bottom & hover on the bottom arrow & it auto scrolls until you find the website). You're welcome

When I open safari from the dock it opens as a small window at the top of the screen that is totally white and does not have a tool bar or exit options. All I can do is force quit to exit. What do I do?
With Safari open, press Command , (comma) to open Safari Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
Turn that off, quit (or force quit) Safari then relaunch to test. -
When I select "open a new tab" the tab opens in a different window than the one I'm using. This is release 11.0, and did not happen in 10.0
Hi,
Please check if '''Open new windows in a new tab instead''' is enabled in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Tabs'''. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Tabs%20panel Options > Tabs]. If the problem persists, please also check if this happens in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. If the new profile is okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy the needed personal data] from the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder another location (profile folder)] separate from its [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory files/folder]. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings ('''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window '''Options'''], and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] ), and usually would also be empty of any '''Extensions''' and themes ('''Appearance''') in Tools > Add-ons) and their settings. Also, a new profile would have no previous stored website data/settings etc., ('''Tools''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History '''Clear Recent History''']).

CS5.1 opens in a small window from LR4.1RC
When I send an image from LR4.1RC to CS5.1 (64bit), CS5 opens in a small window instead of full screen. If I open CS5 directly from the desktop, it does open full screen. I am running Vista. Is this a bug, or something with my OS? Thanks.
I assume that when PS opens from LR it is just the Restore Down size (the button you have when a window has been Maximized), and that you are able to Maximize the window and everything is fine, that this is just a nuisance. I also assume that when you say opening Photoshop alone it comes up in full screen, you just mean Maximized.
With that in mind, this shouldn't be an LR or PS bug, because I haven't heard of anybody else running into similar behavior. However, there could be some sort of interference on your system.
The first thing I would suggest is to create a new user account and test there. This will determine if some setting or other is the root of this behavior. -
I understand how to set the restore tabs function and have done so. Usually my tabs reopen when I restart, but every once in a while if I have other windows (not tabs) open, and I forget to close them all first, before I close my main window, then when I reopen, my tabs are gone. I have gone to History and I can see the Restore Previous Session and Restore Closed Tabs commands, but they are not highlighted and they don't work. Please advise
Try using the Firefox button > Exit when you go to close Firefox, that should save all your open windows / tabs.

I use a web based software for work. I go to a web page listing all employees as links (Window A). When I click an employee link a new window opens (Window B). Window B contains links, i.e. Add Client, Change Address, Change Phone Number, Change Name, Upload Photo, etc... When I hold CTRL and left click the links in Window B, the new tab opens in Window A. I don't understand why this has changed, as I've been using this method to open new tabs in my current window in both of the previous versions of Firefox.
That didn't work, but thank you very much for the offer of help. I had already tried that option.
To give you an example of what I'm speaking, I found this page that recreates the scenario.
1. Goto [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/centered_popup.htm http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/centered_popup.htm]
2. Click the GO in the center of the box on their page (This creates a pop-up window with links to other programming pages)
3. CTRL+left click any of those links. The page opens in the background/original window, not the pop up window where you are currently working. And, with your solution takes me back to that window and the new tab. -
Whenever I open a new window of Firefox, the new window opens at the hope page (like I want it to), but then a tab opens up with the new window. I want Firefox to stop doing this. When I open a new window I just want the window to open. I don't know how to fix this as I have know idea how I made this happen. This first happened when I hit control + N to open a new window, but I didn't hit the "N" cleanly. I pressed one of the other keys around the "N" and this issue started.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

the user cor-el has a method that does not require any add-ons. He States
This code in userChrome.css will move "Open Link in New Window" to the top of the context menu.
<pre>@namespace url("<a href="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul">http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul</a>"); /* only needed once */
#contentAreaContextMenu > * { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2; }
#context-openlink { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 !important; }</pre>
the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well. -
Safari 8 - tab opens as a new window all of the sudden
So I'm using Safari 8.0.2 on Yosemite. I came across a bug (or is it a new feature?):
When I have a page opened as a new tab, sometimes, all of the sudden, this tab detaches from the main Safari window to become a new window. This happens as I move my mouse and read but I don't click on anything. I don't touch the keyboard either. it seems it just happens by itself randomly.
Anyone has experienced the same issue? I find this pretty annoying.
When it happens I would like to move this new window back as a tab of my main Safari window. I generally don't want to have multiple windows opened with Safari. I prefer to open links in multiple tabs.
I hope someone has a solution to this issue.
Thank you! What you describe happens when you drag a tab out of the tab bar. Are you sure that's not what you're doing? Is the trackpad otherwise behaving normally? Are any other pointing devices connected, such as a tablet, either via USB or Bluetooth?

I have a database which contains youtube video links. Everything works except I don't want a youtube page to open, just a small 500x400 pixel window that will play over my website's page. So the customer doesn't end up on youtube, but remains on my page. Please help!!
One way to do this is with FancyBox (modal window).

This has been occurring for about 2 weeks.I need a version of firefox compatible with roboform.Very irritating that when I click tabs or links opens in a new window.
Firefox 4.0 up through the latest 10.0 version is compatible with Roboform7 or with the '''RoboForm Lite Standalone Extension'''. <br />
http://www.roboform.com/platforms/browsers/firefox - scroll down that page a bit
As far as troubleshooting your Firefox crashes, start with this: <br />
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash
Type '''about:crashes''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
# Middle-Click the hyperlinks to bring up each Crash Report page in a new Tab; each page may take a few minutes to load.
# '''Then copy'n'paste the URL of each of those reports into the message box here.'''
# We'll see if we can help you figure out what is causing those crashes to happen.
If you can't open Firefox or keep it open long enough to get the Crash Report ID's, even in the Firefox Safe Mode - see the section entitled - '''''You can't open Firefox because it crashes at startup even in Safe Mode:'''''. -
everything works on phone and wow it's big compared to my iPhone 5s. went with space grey since i have had 3 white phones in a row. restored via iCloud backup. updated iTunes as i have about 3,000 songs. 250 bought the rest ripped to AAC from my cc's....what a pain but switched from my windows desktop to this new rMBP late 2013 for xmas and iTunes is slightly different on a mac than windows and where everything is stored on drive.
anyhow problem is every time i reboot after putting in my password and arriving at whatever page i left at i get a very small window asking for my Apple id password. Now the top half is pre filled in with the email address i use for iCloud/itunes/apple/etc.
i did see in settings there is a checkmark i cannot remove that says for apple password "ask immediately" there are no other choices. it can't be unchecked by any method i found.
any help appreciated. In case anyone else gets this I hit cancel once and it has never come back.

HT2490 My System preferences always opens in a small window now.
Every time I open up system preferences it always opens in a little window. All lf the text and the icons are all scrunched together. I'm actually an IT person and have been doing this for years but for some reason I can find nothing on the internet addressing this issue. I've looked at the view settings, window view settings nothing seems to address the issue.
The green button is missing to even expand it to full size. It is very annoying and I can't seem to find a resolution.I can't find anything, not I can't find nothing. Boy, I hate typos. Can anyone tell me how to get the preferences to open up in a full size window as they used to?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
