Relocate fragment library

We're new to LiveCycle Designer (ES2) standalone. My coworker created a form using fragments, but the fragments are stored in her "My Documents\My Fragments" folder. We moved the fragments to a shared folder and now the PDF forms can no longer find them. Is there any way to update all the fragment references en masse or do we have to go through each form and every fragment one-by-one? Thanks. -- Ben

Sorry Ben,
I don't have a definitive answer.
The safest way would be to relink in the Fragment Subform tab:
If you were feeling brave (and tested on a copy first), you could do a find/replace within the XML Source, swapping out the old reference for the new reference:
Not for the faint hearted - good luck,
Niall
PS
You would need to see what the new fragment library looked like, then
FIND: usehref="..\..\..\..\Fragments\
REPLACE: usehref="..\..\..\..\myNewFragments\

  • Using fragment library with SAP MIME repository?

    Hi,
I am new here so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
We use Adobe LiveCycle Designer as part of the SAP Interactive Forms product. We want to use the fragment library but I am unclear how that will work unless we can connect to the SAP MIME Repository.
Does anyone here have any experience with making this work?
Also ... is there any online resource (other than SAP's SDN) with specific help documentation for using LiveCycle Designer ES with SAP?
We are on SAP Netweaver 7.01 and LiveCycle Designer 8.1.
    Thanks!

    Hi Chintan,
Thank you for the prompt. I was going to get to it ...
Actually I did not find a way to use the fragment library with referenced objects. By 'referenced" we would mean to be able to change the object in the library and all referencing items would be updated. We did NOT find how to do that.
What we did find, that is still useful to us, and probably anyone working in a development team, is that we could create the library in a shared location and store common fragments there. To use the fragments, go to the library, drag the fragment from the library to your form layout, then 'convert to embedded object' (I think this is on the right click menu, Fragments> convert to embedded object).
This way you still get the benefit of consistency amongst forms using the same element, and only having to develop each element once.
I hope you find this helpful!

  • Fragment library with SAP?

We want to deploy a set of forms that use references to fragments stored in a fragment library, because there are a lot of elements in common among the forms. Some will change over time and we would like to maintain them in one place.  Is this possible with interactive forms for SAP? Would we use a file server location or is there a way to use the MIME repository?
System is SAP Netweaver 7.01 and Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.1.
    Thanks,

  • How to relocate itunes library to external drive

    Hi Folks,
In another forum on the above topic I found an answer that consisted as a TWENTY-FOUR-PAGES-long forum discussion. I hope that there is someone who can nutshell 24 pages for this newbie
I have an external SimpleTech hard drive, Windows Xp, Compaq, laptop. I don't want to lose my itunes library, if my computer crashes. And, I don't want to eat up all my computer memory with music and podcast/vodcast files.
    1) Is there a simple, step-by-step operation to relocate my itunes library to my external drive? I hope one of you are willing to take the time to help me out.
    2) In addition to HOW to do it, what does it mean, practically? I mean itunes remains on my computer, right? And, it just goes back and forth to the external drive for my music files, right?
    3) Can I put my album artwork on the external, as well?
    Thank you
    Randy

Is there a simple, step-by-step operation to relocate my itunes library to my external drive?
    Yes:
    - Launch iTunes, click Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab > General tab
    - Click the 'change' button to redirect your iTunes Music Folder to your external hard drive. It's sometimes helpful if you open that hard drive through Windows Explorer first, and create a folder on it called 'iTunes' or something similar.
    - Select both options to "Keep iTunes music folder organized" and "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and then click OK
    - Click your Advanced menu and choose Consolidate Library
This copies your library files onto the hard drive and ensures that iTunes looks there for the files. Once this is completed, and you've verified iTunes is reading the files from the external drive (you can right click on the file and click Get Info, then click the Summary tab, and at the bottom it'll say "Where" and show you where your file is stored) you can go into your My Music folder on the computer and delete the iTunes files.
The iTunes program files will still be stored on your C: drive, to make Windows happy, and it just refers to your external hard drive to find the files so it can play them and sync them to your iPod.
When you follow the above steps, your Album Artwork should copy to the external drive as well.
Apple has this support document on the issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
    Hope this is helpful

  • My iMac HD is almost full - I need to relocate my library, versions, master

I would like to remove the Aperature Library from my iMac and work with the files on a large HD. How do I go about this - cannot find it in any literature. When I first bought Aperature I was not thinking the library would grow this large and threaten to crash my iMac HD. Thank you!

The person at the Apple store I was working with was named Leif and the Apple store I took it to was Burlingame, SF. Leif was not the Aperture expert but did consult with the expert and advised Aperture will crash when attempting to delete large groups of images. I have experienced it on my iMac on numerous occasions. Some on this forum believe you need more than 2 Gigs to run this software efficiently render images. They recommend 4 gigs? No Apple comes standard with 4 gigs - not even the Mac Pro.

  • Tried to relocate itunes library and lost all music. Songs have exclamation point.

I tried to move my iTunes library to an external drive that did not have enough space on it. The transfer did not complete. Now I cannot play any of my music. There is an exclamation point next to each song. How do I go about finding my music files? I tried to revert to the original location & "organize" the library but this did not help. Thanks!

The backup you made before a major reorganization of your library?
I get the feeling you probably were not moving your library correctly in the first place.  It sounds like you were moving only media, not the entire library which is moved by copying the entire iTunes folder to the other drive, then starting iTunes with the option/alt key held down and choosing the library.itl file in the folder on the other drive.
Organizing copies media to a new location.  The original files should still be where they were.  However, your library was told to point to them on the external drive only it messed up in the middle.
Try this.  Get info on a broken link.  Find the file on the internal (good) drive that corresponds to that track.  If iTunes asks if you want to find others, say yes.  See if that re-links the files so you're back to where you started at least.

  • Fragment library

With all our company forms, we use a Drop Down Box for all our deparmental names.  We have just gone through a restructure and have renamed majority of our departments.  Just wondering, if I was to create this drop down box as a Fragment, am I able to change the size of the box according to each particular form?

Nope .....when the df is generated the reference to the fragment is resolved, so if you save the form out of designer as a PDF then the fragment is read at that time any subsequent changes will not be seen. If you create the PDF in real time (when the user asks for it) then you are always grabing the latest fragment and hence getting the latest updates. This is done by saving the form in its native format (XDP) and rendering it through LiveCycle Form server product when the user asks for it.
    Make sense?

  • Relocate iTunes Library

I would like to migrate my iTunes library to a desktop computer on my network before retiring the computer where the library currently lives. I have it all on Time Machine...can I just drag and drop the files onto iTunes on the recipient computer or do I need to migrate them some other way?? Hopefully an easy one...Philip

I run iTunes off an external HD and I just dragged and dropped the folder and then then "pointed" iTunes to use the new library as its source.
To do that, go to the "iTunes" menu and select "Preferences." Then choose "Advanced" and changed the location from your old library to your new library.
    Hope this helps!

  • TS1741 Does anyone have trouble with the Remote app losing contact with the iTunes library after it has been connected and working fine for a while. If I go to the computer and turn off sharing, then turn it back on, it will relocate the library again.

My iTunes remote app on my ipad mini will work fine for a while and then it will lose the library. I then have to turn off sharing on the computer and then turn it back on. This will work for a while and then I will have to repeat the process. Help!

I have just found the problem to be windows firewall on my library PC
I can only presume there has been an update to windows firewall or iTunes
all the relevant programs were on the allowed list
I'm now currently running with firewall turned off on my library PC.
I'll update when i have found the rogue setting.

  • Questions about my library just moved to NAS.  Download errors.  Would USB be better?

Thanks for reading.  My situation is that my itunes library is running about 500gb and I needed to get it off my imac.  I bought a 2TB NAS and copied the entire library folder to that drive and changed itunes to go there.
What I'm finding is that downloading daily podcasts is a chore.  It's real slow.  I had to turn off simultaneous downloads and allow only a single download at a time.  Otherwise it would certainly beach ball.
Also, buying anything from itunes seems to result in a "network reset" error and I have to sit there and click "resume" 2 or 3 times.
I'm wondering if I've done something wrong?
Would it be better if I spring for a 2.0 USB drive and keep it connected to my imac that way rather than going through the servers where the NAS is connected in the house?
I also use this library to feed the apple TV that we use a lot.
    Thanks.

I have a post on reorganizing things before attempting to move them from one computer to another which runs as follows:
    Make a split library portable
Here are the typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
In the layout above right, with the media folder (everything in the red box) inside the library folder, the library is considered to be portable. A portable library can be moved from one path to another without breaking the links from the library to the media, and being self-contained it is much easier to backup and restore. (You do backup, don't you?).
You can rearrange things to make a split library portable by taking a number of small steps which don't break the library.
Before you start any media files that are outside of the media folder will need to be consolidated. If the library is in the old style layout then it should be upgraded to iTunes Media Organization (Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder <Media Folder>) to ensure that iPod Games, Mobile Applications etc. are brought inside the media folder, otherwise the links to these won't survive changes in the path of the library.
    The basic non-fatal manipulations are:
You can create or connect to an alternate set of library files by holding down Shift (Win) or Option (Mac) when starting iTunes. (Note iTunes will continue to use this library until you use the same method again.)
You can move the library files to a new location and connect to it there as long as the media stays put.
You can move the library files and the media together if the media folder is a direct subfolder of the library folder.
If you have already moved/copied the media content from a subfolder of the library folder to a different location then you only need to copy the library files for it to appear as if you have moved the entire library in the way allowed above. I.e. just copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder.
You can rename the media folder to iTunes Media (if it isn't already) if the media folder is inside the library folder.
iTunes uses the name of the folder holding the library files as the window title. Having made a library "portable" you may need to take a final step of renaming the library folder to iTunes or, if the library files have ended up at the root of a drive, moving all of the library files and content folders into a new folder called iTunes.
IMPORTANT: After each change you need to open, test and close the relevant library before attempting another change. If a change broke the library, undo it or revert to using the previous set of library files.
In essence all you need to do to join up a split library and make it portable is copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder on the external/secondary drive and use the hold-down-shift/option-when-starting-iTunes method to connect to it. Other manipulations may be required to normalize the library so that the library and media folders have standard names.
In your case I'm suggesting that you can use 2. to relocate your library files to a faster internal drive while leaving the media on the NAS (splitting the library), and that you would then use 4. to join your split library back together again before attempting to move it to a different drive.
After using 2. you would need to make sure that under iTunes Preferences > Advanced the media folder was pointed to iTunes Media on the NAS. There is also an issue with such split libraries that iTunes can sometimes reset the media folder if the NAS/external appears to be offline when iTUnes starts up.

  • 2 items in the same iTunes library

My iTunes library (item #1) is currently located on HD #1.
There is not enough room on this HD.
    I would like to:
    - create another item library (item #2) on another HD (let us call it HD #2),
    - see both items when I launch iTunes,
    - and import new music pieces to item #2 when I add some to iTunes.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance.

    *Harry Cover* wrote:
My question was about "segmenting" iTunes database.
    I thought is was impossible.
    Your answers confirm my fear.
    It IS impossible.
As *Chris CA* has already stated, it is not impossible to spread your library over multiple volumes, but as I stated in my original response, “You cannot spread your library over multiple volumes and easily keep it managed.” If it were impossible, there would be little need for the Consolidate Library function.
While iTunes can link to songs on any volume currently attached to your computer, separating the file library is a bad practice because iTunes only recognizes one folder as your music folder. Should the worst ever happen, any music that you do not have in your designated iTunes music folder may need to be manually added to your iTunes library again; the songs in your (designated) music folder would be restored by the simple action of setting the iTunes preference to point to the correct folder.
The more fragmented your library, the more work you are making for yourself if you ever have the need to rebuild your library. So unless your library exceeds the maximum capacity of modern hard drives, a fragmented library is a very bad idea.
If your external drive has enough capacity to hold your entire music collection, then your best option is to just move your music library to the external drive. You in fact do not need to consolidate your iTunes library first as *Chris CA* suggested, unless you already have a fragmented library on your current hard drive. If not, follow the procedure I suggested, if you are not sure, follow Chris’.

  • I have just upgraded my laptop from vista to windows 7, I have all my music on an external as the library is to large for hard disk. I have downloaded Itunes 11 but cannot  fathom a way of getting my new itunes to connect with my external library.

Question:  I have upgraded my windows vista to windows 7, I have all of my itunes music stored onto an external due to the size of content, so in vista all of my music in itunes had a path to F (external library). But now I have upgrade to windows 7, I cannot get itunes to recognise my library from my external. I have tried to connect external and open itunes with shift key down with both suggestions but to no avail. please help, all I want is to keep my library on external not on hard drive. I have also gone to preferences/advanced and made sure the external drive is chosen. This seems so complicated and I thought it would have been easy...

At a guess you followed the process in HT1364 - iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder which would have moved the media folder to a new path of your choice. This process leaves the library database files back in the original location of <User's Music>\iTunes. Often people assume that all they need is now on the external drive and wipe the internal drive, or discard their old computer, before backing up the all important iTunes folder. If you have a backup of your user's profile folder from before the upgrade the iTunes library folder should be in there somewhere. Restore it to <User's Music> and your original library should pop back into existence. The external drive would need to have the same drive letter that it had previously.
A more effective way to relocate the library is to move the entire iTunes folder to the external drive, then hold down shift when starting iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. You would then choose the file iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder on the external drive. If this is the way you moved the library before then that is how you should now reconnect to it. Changing the media folder in preferences doesn't change which .itl database file is opened, nor does double-clicking on an .itl file directly.
If you no longer have the original .itl file then you will have to build a new library and import the media to it. If you need to do this I would recommend you create a new library at F:\iTunes, then move your existing media folders inside F:\iTunes\iTunes Media before importing. This will avoid the creation of duplicates and make sure the library is in the correct shape going forwards.
If you have an iPod or iOS device my scripts ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats may well let you recover ratings, play counts & playlists from the device.
When you've fixed up your libray you should consider getting a second external drive to backup to.

  • How can i do to sharing segments library?

    Hi!
I hope someone can to help me, i have some segments than i will use to create some forms, but i have a question....how can i do to sharing this segments library, because i will work with other two persons and we want to have access to the same segments, that is for reuse this segments because the forms has similar information.
    Does have someone any idea?
    Thank´s

    Are you talking about fragments?
Those are stored in a folder on your local drive as xdp files wich you can easily attach to an email for example.
To get the path hold the mouse corsor over the headline of your fragment library (right next to the folder symbol) in the fragment library palette.

  • Question about moving iTunes Media folder/library

    Hello,
I'm responding to the article listed here: iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder - Apple Support that describes moving your iTunes media folder. I have a massive music library/playlists (over 350 gigs and growing). I'm planning to relocate my media folder to Dropbox because I have ample space there and it will allow me to run my library off of multiple computers (though not at the same time). My question is this: if I follow the steps and consolidate and relocate my library to the new Dropbox folder, will all my new uploads and downloads/purchases/imports also start automatically going to this newly specified location? I want to make sure that it would.
    Thanks

Well the way that Dropbox works for me (just documents and data, not iTunes) is that I have a complete copy of the files in my Dropbox folder on my computer at home, and at work, and in the cloud on Dropbox's servers. Each time I update one of the files it is uploaded to Dropbox and then downloaded to the other client machine. When using another computer I can access my files from the Dropbox web interface, or use the Dropbox app on my iPad. It sounds like you are hoping that you can have all of your files in the cloud, and only in the cloud. I don't think it works that way.
For 350Gb and growing I think that realistically you need to stick with local storage. I clone my library to a 1Tb portable drive which I physically take to and from work, At each location I use SyncToy to synchronize the local and portable copies of the libraries effectively giving me three parallel clones of the library at all times.
