Relocate moved files in Elements 6 Slideshow

I am running Windows XP and I'm using Photoshop Elements 6 and Premiere Elements 4. Over time, I've added and removed hard drives and the location of files has changed. I have not been using the Organizer.
I have some slideshows that I created using the Photoshop Elements 6 Slideshow app. Now, when I open my projects, I just get black slides. There doesn't seem to be any way in the Slideshow Editor to show information about the individual slides. After hunting through what I have and looking at files with a Hex viewer, it appears that the "PSESS" files might be the source for the slideshows. As I suspected, the files referenced in these files are now in different places than they had been when the slideshow was created. Since some of these slideshows have about 500 slides and a lot of work went into setting up the Pans and Zooms, I really don't want to recreate them from scratch.
I wonder whether anyone can answer my questions. Is there any way to modify the Project so that the file pointers will find the files in their new locations? If not, are the "PSESS" files what I should be looking at? If yes, is there a way to edit the files and do a global Search and Replace to make the file pointers reference the current location?
Thank you.

You could download the free adobe dng converter and use that to make DNG files that your version of ACR can read, but ACR has come a long way since PSE 6.

  • Moving files in Elements 11

When importing pictures from the hard drive to Elements 11, how can you keep the file structure intact?  Specifically, if the original file has both pictures and subfolders, how can you import the original file exactly as it exists on the hard drive.  So far I can move the pictures just fine, but I lose the file/subfile identity.  This seems pretty basic to me, but I just can't get it right.

I probably am confused, and maybe more than "just a bit."  I do know that it is just a database.  My problem is manipulating it.  In the Organizer I click on "Import," which takes me to the files.  There I find all the picture files as I originally set them up on the previous computer.  Many of these files are straightforward picture files, with no subfolders.  These I can import with no problems.  They appear in the organizer as folders with the original name and with all the pictures included.  If, however, the original files include subfolders as well as pictures I have not found a way to import them in that condition.  If I highlight everything in the file, folders as well as pictures, and click "Get Media," All the pictures, including the pictures in the subfolders, are transferred, but the basic folder structure is not.  I assume I can set up the desired folder in the Organizer and then drag and drop the picture folders as necessary, but that seems a little awkward for a system as sophisticated as Elements 11.

  • Not all my Jpeg files from elements moved to Revel, why?

I went in to check what files from elements were downloaded in the new Revel system and a significant number of my Jpeg pictures did not move over.  Is there a reason?  OMG I hope figuring out which ones weren't moved will be easy like "download whole elements library" or something to that effect.
I got an email that said my download was complete but on some page somewhere in the MANY places I have been to sort this out  the "all files have been downloaded" was not yet highlighted so does that mean that things are not done yet?
OMG I am so frustrated.  I am ready to store my pictures on Amazon Cloud.  Seems like a more friendly system.  I am not a tech savy person.  I know enough to be frustrated.

QUESTIONS ABOUT FILES TRANSITIONING TO REVEL
Your album structure will be moved to Revel along with your JPEGs. There is not a concept of albums within albums in Revel, so the file structure will be flattened.
Will my web galleries be moved to Revel?
Your web galleries will become albums in Revel. Current album links will continue to work.
Will my group albums be moved to Revel?
Group albums will not be moved, but the JPEG photos in the albums will be moved to Revel.
Take a look at these and let me know what questions remain.

  • Saving photoshop elements 7 slideshow as .wmv file

I have tried to export my slideshow from pse7 to pe7 and it wasn't working so i tried to save the slideshow as a .wmv file and it gets halfway through saving and it encounters a problem and needs to close what can i do about this new problem that i now have now i have 2 problems not able to export slideshow to premiere elements 7 and now i can not even save it please help

to troubleshoot your problem I suggest two courses of action at the same time
A -- you should create a new test slideshow which has only about 10 photos. In this test slide show use music (if your original slide show had music) and use pan/zoom (if your original slide show did).  When picking these approximately 10 photos, choose photos that are representative of those in your original slide show.
B - please respond to these questions
1 -- Have you ever been able to either save a slideshow as a wmv file or send a slideshow to Premiere Elements 7?
2 -- Have you recently cleaned out the Temporary Files on your computer ?  How much available space on your C drive?
3 -- How many photos are in your original slideshow (approximate number is OK) and what is the megapixel resolution (like were they from a 4 megapixel or a 10 megapixel camera or were they scanned)  for most of the photo files ?
4 -- Computer specs and what version of Windows?

  • Elements 9 Slideshow Audio File does not play completely

How do I get an Elements 9 Slideshow to play an entier audio file?  Facts: The slideshow duration is greater than the audio file duration.  The audio file is an MP3 that fades and terminates prior to the 4:26 duration.  No "Trimming" is applied to the audio file.

I'm not sure about this. The tool with which the mp3 has been created is the "Sound Tool" (Tools => Multimedia => Sound Tool) You can also choose for Flash Tool but that is not the one which has been used. There are other pdf readers especially designed for iPad which say that they have a sound tool built in (for the iPad) that should play mp3's. Nevertheless they don''t function as well (so I complained as well, not yet answered) they even don't show the link. The iPad Adobe Reader does show the link, but it does not start. I suppose that they have a built in player as well which is NOT flash. Why otherwise even have the possibility to choose between Flash and a sound tool in Adobe???
By the way talking to Steve is very difficult I think unless you have a direct connection to heaven?

  • How can i view all the missing files in elements 12?

I have a very large catalog and there are now a few hundred files missing due to me moving or deleting them outside of elements.
Is there a way to display only the missing files in elements so i can work through them and decide to search for them manually or delete them from my catalog?
    thanks for any help
    Lee

If you are in Elements Organizer12, go to Find > All Missing Files
It will show all the missing files present in your catalog.
    Thanks,

  • Re-linking songs to moved files

Because my laptop was running out of space I had to move many of my music files to an external drive. Obviously I can't play those files which featured in my iTunes playlists unless I reconnect them.
Is there any automatic way that iTunes can relocate these files or do I have to go through each song separately and create the link?
There are several hundred files involved so it would be a painstaking job if I had to do it one by one.

In the meantime, and in answer to your question, the files I have moved are tracks I ripped from my own CDs so they were not in the usual iTunes folder.
What did you rip them with? How are they laid out?
If iTunes rips a music file it ends up at:
    *<Path to iTunes Media Folder>\<Music>\<Artist>\<Album>\## <Name>.<ext>*
Where there are specific limits on the length of file & folder names and all characters that are not allowing filenames are replaced with the underscore.
I have a script that can effetively "guess" where iTunes would normally put things and therefore work out where they would be if you had changed anything in the upper levels of the path, *<Path to iTunes Media Folder>\<Music>* - e.g. by moving a bunch of files to a different drive.
Personally I use different rules, full length file & folder names up to the OS limit, and different replacements, e.g. double quote becomes 2 single quotes, and have a slightly different version of the script which I now use to impose my rules without having to rename things by hand and then delete from iTunes & reimport
If you can define the rules that govern the path to missing files in terms of a common root path and then a futher breakdown by album, artist and track no. & name, plus any limits or character replacement rules then it should be possible to tweak the existing script to find your missing files.
Alternatively put them back where they used to be, turn off the iTunes option to "Keep the iTunes Media Folder Organised* or "Copy files when adding to the media library", then set a new base path for the library on your external, decline the offer to move your files there, then consolidate the files you do want to move out to the external before deleting the originals on C:.
Better yet after restoring the missing files so that iTunes can find them again, move your entire iTunes folder out to the external drive and then consolidate everything into the one location.

  • Pathway problem when moving files in PSE

I use PSE 6.0 and recently had to reload my operating system (OS).  After reloading my OS I reinstalled PSE 6.0 and restored my catalog to a new location on my hard drive.  I had my catalog backed up onto DVD's.  The restore worked and I went to link missing photos, b/c I did the PSE 'no no' and moved files outside of the PSE program.  It appeared that the missing links were reconnected.  I started to spot-check some of the file property locations and noticed that many of the photo properties had the restore location that I restored the catalog to.  I did not want to keep the photo in this location, so I went to move these folders and files to my external drive where I keep my pictures (I have two drives: one for video and one for photos).  When I try to move the files in PSE to my external drive it moves them to my external video drive instead.  The problem is that when I follow the pathway it moved them to, I do not have this link on my video drive.  The pathway, however, is identical to my photo pathway.  For example.  I have a picture with the property of C:/Documents and Settings/Amy/My Documents/Restore Adobe PSE 100111/My Picture Downloads/Pella Trip.  I tried to move this file to my external K drive (which is my photo drive).  In PSE I click on file then move then browse and moved the file to K:Micah's camera photos/2011/May/2011/05 07.  In PSE when I go to verify that the file was moved to that drive, instead in properties it tells me that the file location is M (my video external drive) and lists the pathway as M:Micah's camera photos/2011/May/2011/05 07.  When I go to START and click on that external drive to follow the pathway to find the photo, it is not on M.  M does not even have the pathway to follow as I do not even have M:Micah's camera in that location.  I have tried disconnecting my external drive M and tried to save the file from the C location to my K drive and then the file becomes an offline file and I have another problem.  So then I tried to reconnect that particular file listed on M but since it's not really on M, I follow the K pathway name and find the file where I requested it to be saved which was K:Micah's camera photos/2011/May/2011/05 07.  When I find the file and click on reconnect I get the message that the file already exists in the catalog.  Then in the dialog box it says M:Micha's camera photos/2011/May/2011/05 07 was not connected to K:Micah's camera photos/2011/May/2011/05 07.  When I click on ok to exit the dialog box my photo is then missing.  I then can't do anything with it.  The pathway in PSE won't move it b/c I can't link it.  It says the file is on my M drive, but it really isn't.  I don't know what to do next.  I would like to move my photo files/folders from C (my hard drive) to K (my external photo drive).  I do not know why PSE is moving them to M (my video drive) which doesn't take me to that file.  I have searched the forums but have found no problems similar to this.  I'm not sure what to do to fix this.  Sorry this got so long...Can anyone help me?

Highlighting a batch of images and dragging from the PSE9 Media Browser to a folder in the left hand panel, located on external HDD works fine although I’m using Vista and Windows 7 and automatically invokes the elements Move procedure.
Make sure the new folder has a blue icon to indicate it is being managed in Organizer. If not right click on the folder and choose Import to Organizer.

  • Re: Raw files in Elements 10

I have Elements 10, Can I process Raw photos in it?

Hello, CaroleJohn. I moved your post to a new thread, since it really doesn't have anything to do with the discussion in the one you've been posting in. Yes, you can process raw files in Elements 10, but not if you have a newer camera model that requires version 7 of the Raw converter. For those you would either have to convert the files to DNG, use whatever software came with your camera and send the converted files as tiffs or whatever to PSE for more editing, or upgrade to PSE 11.
    Which camera do you have?

  • ITunes keeps moving files to wrong directory

This has happened twice now. I go to play an album and get the ! and that iTunes cannot find the files. I dig around in my MAcBook's hard drive and find a folder labeled Music Drive with about 200 randomly selected albums. I move them back to my external drive and erase the folder on my MacBook hard drive and the next day they are back again. Anybody run into this one?

I figured this out. Not sure if it's the same problem or solution for others, but definitely wanted to share what I found.
Initially I had moved the songs from my hard drive back to my computer. I have 30 Gig, so that was a pain. The problem still occurred. Then I figured it out.
I had a niece that had plugged her iPod into my computer. As a result, she had saved music onto my computer. I later found out that it was music that her friends had downloaded from the internet, etc. (Justin Bieber, etc.). Anyway, I started watched the Hard Drive where iTunes was moving files and started to watch exactly what tracks it was moving. I started to remove those from iTunes. After I felt assured I had moved those files which were being moved, I then reimported the remainder into iTunes fresh. There was something about those files that was causing problems. After I removed those offending songs, it worked just fine. I can move it back to the hard drive, etc. and it all works just fine with those songs deleted. I was able to figure it out by 1) figuring out that my niece had done this back about the time that the problem occurred 2)watching which songs were getting moved initially and starting the problem.
I hope this helps. It seems pretty isolated and may be specific to me.

  • Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original location - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it

Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original locations - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it - also, when transferring large amounts of files it becomes a very large problem remembering which files were transferred and which not.

You're going to need to be more specific, as I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about.
If you're referring to copying from an external hard drive or flash drive, and you want to actually move files rather than copy them, you can hold down the option key to force it to do a "move" rather than a "copy." This is not new behavior, though... the Mac OS has worked this way as long as I can recall (and I've been using it since 1984).
If you're having a problem with trying to move files from one place to another on a single drive causing them to be copied instead, that is likely because of some permissions issue preventing you from actually being able to move them.

  • I moved files off my computer to an external hard drive now time machine won't back up like it used to.  It says there is not enough room.

My hard drive was completely full (mostly with pictures) so I moved several years worth of photos from the hard drive to an external hard drive I regularly use with the laptop. (Basically my master copies of all my photos back to 1997)  I have always had Time Machine set up to back up both the laptop AND that external drive.  It's always worked seamlessly until I moved those files.  Time Machine has been full for a while now and regularly gives me a message that the oldest files will be deleted.  That's fine.
I don't understand why moving files from the laptop to the external hd would now cause the following message (not an exact quote): Time Capsule cannot complete backup.  You need 233 gb to backup and time capsule only has 107 gb available. If time capsule was already set to backup up both the laptop and the external hd, why would moving those photos from one hd to the other cause a space issue?  It should equal out.   And now when I look at the files on the time capsule, it only shows me a recent backup and a partial incomplete backup.  None of the older backups are visible anymore. I have not deleted anything directly from the time capsule so I'm thinking somehow the index got damaged.  How can I fix this?  The error message says to change the settings but I really don't know what settings to change.  Help!!

It does not immediately delete the files that are missing.. it merely tries to backup the new files it has discovered on the external drive. Since you moved the files there, the backup at least for a while will contain both copies.. and that is why it doesn't have enough space to backup.
Fixing the problem.. hmm pondini is the expert.. you should be able to delete the backup of the photos in existing backup.. there are instructions to do it.. but it is a very poor way to do things.
Much better. .archive off the existing backup.. this is long and slow but worth it. you need a usb drive of the same size as the TC drive. Then erase the TC and start a fresh set of backups.
The alternative is to use the USB drive as a new target.. but it is much slower than the TC internal drive.

  • Cannot open CR2 files in Elements 8 or Bridge

Hi, I hope someone can help me! I shoot in RAW, and have always edited my pictures in Camera RAW via Elements 8. I recently upgraded my old Dell to a new Mac, and now I'm having trouble. I cannot seem to open the RAW files in Elements, this is what I get when I try to open a file with Camera Raw (I know it says Photoshop Raw, but I do have Camera Raw selected):
When I try to open a RAW file in Adobe Bridge, it's not even an option, it's grayed out. BUT, it will let me open jpegs in Camera Raw in Adobe Bridge! So confusing. So far I have tried updating the Camera Raw plug in. I followed the directions exactly, but no dice. When I look at the "about plug in" section on PSE, it shows that it is the updated version, 6.2.0.29. But when I look at a jpeg in Camera Raw through Adobe Bridge, it says Camera Raw version 5.0.
Any ideas? I have a camera full of RAW files waiting to be edited and I'm so frustrated. Any help will be much appreciated!

You can update ACR in PSE i farther than you can update ACR in bridge (adobe cut bridge off as soon as CS 5 came out, but PSE 8 got a few more updates).
You don't mention the camera model.Photoshop raw and camera raw are two different things. How are you opening these files? You do know that you don't need to mess with the format section of the open window? Just select the file you want and it will set itself to the right format for you, so ignore that.

  • End of file error, elements 12

I've recently started getting an 'End of file' error when I try to open around a third of my RAW files in Elements 12.
Very frustrating, as I've some decent photo's, and means I'm taking having to take photo's twice to compensate, not ideal. I wondered if it may be a space issue, so have deleted lots of files from my Toshiba laptop, and in particular edited files that use up more space.  This hasn't helped though so I'm pulling my hair out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Yes, definitely, the GB Project file is corrupt, delete it, empty the trash, and it would be a good idea to run some kind of disk repair program, even if it's just Disk Utility. Then create a new project file.
