Relocation of Services
I recently had FiOS installed in my home about 3 months ago. I am going to be moving soon into a rental propierty. I have discussd getting FiOS installed on the new property with the landlord and he says that it depends where and how much wiring is going to be run and if it is going to be cutting through the neighboors property. Does anyone have an suggestions as to what I should do? Can i have a technician come out and let me know how much work needs to be done before I actually order the service? Finally, if it is not possible to get the service installed at the new home will I be, in general, responsible for early termination fees? Any info or suggestions on what course of action to follow are greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure about the running of the lines but if Fios is availible at your new address and you cancel your service you will be charged the early terminiation fee.

Oracle RAC load balancing sessions
Hi Gurus,
I have just implemented SAP on a 2 node RAC. We had RAC1 shutdown for maintenance, and all sessions were failed over to RAC2. Upon bringing RAC1 up, all the sessions remains connected to RAC2. New sessions are load balance between the 2 nodes. Hence, RAC2 is much busier than RAC1.
How can I distribute the sessions/load in oracle upon bringing back a RAC node?
Thanks,
Tzyy MingHi,
>> I am using 11g scan. I have switched all the scan services to RAC1. RAC2 has over 300 sessions. After the entire afternoon, RAC1 only manage to build up less than 100 sessions, while RAC2 still has 300 sessions. Most users are connected to SAP throughout the day. It will be nice if we can average out to 200 sessions on each node.
You shoudn't expect that a SAP workprocess kills itself and connect to another resource during the runtime, in order to RAC1. So, newly created processes may be connected to the newly startup RAC node. Because of this RAC2 has 300 and RAC1 has 100 sessions on it.
>> Relocating the service manually requires human intervention and creates human error. How can we configure RAC so that it knows 1 node is busier than the others and automatically redirect the connection to the lighter node?
As far as I know that this is manual operation, not automatic
I hope that it is clear

Hi,
works as designed. If a node VIP is not running on the node it belongs to, it goes to FAILOVER and intermediate state.
(Which also does make sense, since a failovered VIP does not have a listener, and hence does not service any client. So client will only receive a connection error and tries the next VIP in the address list).
thanks for reply sebastian and "expected behvaiour" had crossed my mind but cant find a doc note anywhere that refers to that. Not that I doubt you but do you have a doc note on this? -
Adobe Acrobat License transfers between territories
Hi All
I am looking for help on this topic please, whereby we have purchased Adobe Acrobat Professional licenses for install and use in specific countries.
We currently have a CLP Agreement with Adobe.
We need to transfer some of the licenses we currently hold for one territory to another territory, due to relocation of services to another country.
I can see that there is a possibility to transfer license ownership to another individual, but there doesn't appear to be any information about how a company with multiple offices around the world and how the Adobe Acrobat Professional licenses can defines correctly as per Adobe licensing policy of usage in approved territories.
Please can someone help with this type of transfer and how I can start it.
Thanks

Service is not relocated to available instance when pref node hangs.
Hi,
I'm fighting strange problem with 4 node 10.2.0.3 RAC on Linux .
We have service defined as follows:
IT PREF: hp3 AVAIL: hp4 hp2 hp1
1* select name,service_id from dba_services where name = 'IT'
SQL> /
NAME SERVICE_ID
IT 8
1 select name, failover_method, failover_type, failover_retries,goal, clb_goal,aq_ha_notifications
2* from dba_services where service_id = 8
SQL> /
NAME METHOD TYPE RETRIES GOAL CLB_GOAL AQNOT
IT BASIC SELECT 180 NONE LONG YES
lsnrctl service gives
Service "IT" has 1 instance(s).
Instance "hp3", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
Handler(s):
"DEDICATED" established:36495 refused:0 state:ready
REMOTE SERVER
(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=_SOME_VIP_)(PORT=1521))When prefered instance hp3 goes down (aborts) ,all is working ok, service is relocated to hp4 and users can connect.
But when prefered instance hangs (local disk controller issue) users are not able to connect to that service .
My goal is to have that service on 1 node only, and in case on failure (hard or soft) redirect all conections to that
service on other node (only 1 not load balancing and so) .
How to configure that ?
Oracle pointed out :
How To Configure Server Side Transparent Application Failover [ID 460982.1]
but I dont want to loadbalance connection .
Please advice .
Regards
GregGHi,
actually your database should not hang. Because when it hangs on one node this error will impact all the other instances as well, since this node has database blocks in memory it exclusively accesses, and when these cannot be transferred, your other nodes will "wait". Hence it is crucially important that when your disk controller hangs, the database instance gets aborted, if not even the node should get evicted.
So if your described szenario really is the case, then the service definition will not help you fix the issue. You should instead have a look at the reason, why the node does not react (or does not get an error).
If the clusternode behaves correctly then the service will failover. Just make sure you configure your clients correctly to react to this:

Service relocating and failover
Hi all,
I woluf like to use different service name on a 2-nodes RAC to manually control which nodes clients connect to.
I set up:
- a "global service", which is running on both instances
- a "node1" service, which has instance 1 as preferred and instance 2 as available
- a "node2" service, which has instance 2 as preferred and instance 1 as available
So I can choose where to connect.
However, if I stop one instance or if I reboot one one, clients connected to the "global" service are failed over to the surviving node, the service is switched to the surviving available instance, but clients connected to the switched service are not failed over.
How can I correct this situation? I would like to have all clients failing over to the surviving node.
Moreover, when a node restart the service is not failed back to its preferred node.
How can I force this?
A full list of commands used to manage services follows.
thanks for every answer!

If I reboot one node (using the "reboot" coomand from command line), everything work as expected: services and sessions are failed over to the surviving node, and I'm really happy about it.
But if I switch off one node (typing "init 0" on the command line) things does not work.
if i do

the service is not failed over node giallo:

Service relocation automatic script required in oracle 11gr2 in perl or she
Hi Everyone
I require script to relocate service automatically in oracle 11gr2 to the prefered node if nodes goes down
it can be either shell script or perl script?
thanks
NitinHi,
1.) No if you define a service with TAF, then the TAF information will be provided to the client, without having to specify it again in the TNSNAMES.ora (neither client nor server).
However it does not hurt, if you have specified it additionally (it just makes it more difficult if you want to change something, because the client side does not get updated).
See this whitepaper for more information:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/clustering/overview/awm11gr2-130711.pdf
2.) However it seems you have forgotten to specify something with the service (you seem to be missing -m):
srvctl add service -h
Adds a service configuration to the Oracle Clusterware.
-P {NONE | BASIC | PRECONNECT} TAF policy specification
-e <Failover type> Failover type (NONE, SESSION, or SELECT)
-m <Failover method> Failover method (NONE or BASIC)
-w <integer> Failover delay
-z <integer> Failover retries

Relocating....what about my Service?!
I'm moving to Europe on December 9th. I'll be staying in Poland for about 1-2 months and then I'll travel all over Europe. My question is:
What service from AT&T can I get inorder to be able to use my iPhone in Europe? Will I have to switch to a Poland cell service? When will the iphone be availble in Europe? Will I have to give up my iPhone? What should I do???
PLEASE ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS AND BE CLEAR WITH ANSWERS
PLEASE AND THANK YOUDebbie,
It depends on how permanent the move is. If it is just for a few months, you might want to call AT&T and get a good International Voice and Data Roaming plan. It may be a bit expensive, but it will save you from accidentally racking up thousands of dollars in data and telephone usage.
If you are permanently moving to Europe, then it would seem to me that you'd need to get a new iPhone in Europe (in either the UK or Germany as it is now). There are two reasons for this: (1) You cannot use your AT&T iPhone in Europe for months at a time. If you are an AT&T customer and roam for what AT&T deems an excessive amount of time, they have the right to disconnect your account. And they will. (2) Recently, it was revealed that the American iPhone has passed FCC inspection but not EU inspection. This means that because the AT&T iPhone is only certified to work in America, anyone caught using an American iPhone in Europe can run the risk of having their phone confiscated by law enforcement. It is a very slight risk, but a risk nonetheless.
In any event, if this move is going to be permanent or even semi-permanent (>6 months or so), you may have to forego your iPhone and get a replacement unit in Europe with a European service provider.
If I'm wrong about any of this, please someone more knowledgeable chime in. Hope this helps! -
Hello Guys
we have the following architecture

up-ser-c01: app servers
up-ser-d01

We now intend to rework the architecture where we run only the DB on the AIX hosts and move the ASCS and ENQ to the linux tier.
Example up-ser-c01 will run ASCS up-ser-d01 will run ENQ replication
Has anyone done this before and is it as simple as changing the instance profile on each host ?Hello
this is what we intend to do, we want to remove the HA cluster from oracle and run ascs, gateway, scs on the application servers.
We will not use HA from SAP but use VMWARE for this purpose. How do we go about uninstalling the AIX bases services ? is it just commenting off from profile and remove from cluster ?
Also since the app servers already have the sap software installed what is the best way to install the ascs?scs? gateway G10 example can we directly edit profile or use sapinst ?
Can we just install enq replication on the another dialog ?
thanks in advance

I am having an issue regarding a placed order via customer service department
I recently relocated to Anchorage Alaska as part of a permanent change of station per the United States Air Force. I was initially located on the East Coast in the lower 48 and at the time of activating my contract I had purchased two separate Iphone 4 devices. I also recently went in to a store in February to purchase a Nexus 7 as well.
Upon arrival in Anchorage I had multiple issues regarding the Iphone 4 devices including being unable to send and receive text messages & imessages, unable to make phone calls, dropped phone calls, unable to utilize GPS, as well as not being able to access general account information and use anything related to web browsing or data usage. It was determined that because the Iphone 4 operates on the 3g network and Verizon does not have a 3g network in Alaska, as a result I was utilizing an extended service network from another carrier. As a result of this I am only able to use my Iphone 4 devices while connected to my wi-fi network while within my home, which is totally unacceptable.
I was not made aware that I would be dealing with this when I moved to Alaska and inquired as the the use of the devices I currently owned prior to purchasing the tablet. I was assured by three separate store employees one of which being a manager that all devices would function at 100% efficiency including the Iphone 4s. In fact I was recently billed 350$ for roaming charges last month, which prompted me to speak with a representative via the online chat regarding the significant increase she said that she was unable to process any sort of credit to the account regardless of what I had been told at a local Verizon store where I purchased the tablet.
As a result of all of these mishaps since arriving here in Alaska I determined I was in need of newer devices that utilize the 4G LTE network currently provided by Verizon in Alaska. I know for a fact that the 4G LTE works great up here because my Nexus 7 tablet runs flawlessly and does not incur roaming charges when utilizing the 4G LTE network.
Yesterday I attempted to contact Verizon through the live chat feature regarding upgrading two of the devices on my account. The live chat representative immediately asked me when my upgrade date was. Upon telling her my upgrade date 9/29/2014 she told me I should contact the customer service department as I might be eligible for an early upgrade. I then proceeded to contact the customer service department using my Iphone 4.
My attempt to speak to anyone in the customer service department resulted in a merry-go-round of being put on hold 6 separate times by two different employees, both of which had me wait for more than an hour while they attempted to speak to a manager to gain approval for an early upgrade. The first rep seemed almost sure she would be able to have my devices upgraded early especially considering the issues I was having regarding service.
The second rep seemed newer and was very dodgy about my questions and was very unwilling to help at first. He even mentioned that I had been a Verizon customer for almost two years, had never missed a single payment and had outstanding account history which should have garnered some sort of importance to the level of my request. But I digress, during this time I was disconnected from the call twice from each separate representative.
Both reps assured me they would call me back, I never did get a call back from either one of those reps and I was becoming very frustrated having waited four hours trying to find some sort of solution to my current predicament.
After waiting an hour for the second representative to call back I grew impatient and contacted the customer service department, was put on hold again, and finally reached a third customer service representative who was able to provide a solution for me.
I explained everything I had been dealing with to Cory ID # V0PAC61, both regarding the phones, the issue of the level of service I was receiving, the dire need for working devices and the multiple times I had been disconnected. I explained to him as a result of these issues I was certainly considering switching to a different provider, a local provider even who could provide me the adequate service that I require for my mobile devices.
I explained to Cory that I had been with Verizon for almost two years, and I had been on a relatives account prior to owning my own Verizon account and had never received this kind of treatment when trying to work towards a simple solution. Cory proceeded to tell me he needed to put me on hold to see if there was anything that could be done regarding the upgrades of the device considering all of the trouble I had been dealing with.
After Cory reconnected with me in the phone call he was able to successfully reach a solution by allowing me to upgrade my devices. We conversed about the options available and I eventually decided to upgrade both Iphone 4 devices to Moto X devices as we determined those would be sufficient for my needs while in Alaska. I also proceeded to add two Otter Box Defender cases to the order so that the devices would have sufficient protection. Cory inquired as to whether or not I would like to purchase insurance for the phones as well and I opted for the $5.00 monthly insurance which including damage and water protection.
Cory explained to me the grand total for the devices which included an activation fee of $35.00 for each device, $49.99 for each Otter Box case, and an additional $50.00 for each device which would be refunded as a rebate upon receipt of the devices and activation, a rebate that I would be required to submit. Cory explained to me that the devices would most likely arrive Tuesday of 6/17 and no later than Wednesday 6/18.
Cory took my shipping information and told me everything was all set and the only thing left to do was to transfer me to the automated service so that I could accept the 2 year agreement for both devices. I thanked him very much, took his name and ID# so that I might leave positive feedback about his exemplary customer service and was then transferred to the automated service.
Once transferred to the automated service I was then prompted to enter both telephone numbers for the devices that would be upgraded, I was then required to accept the new 2 year agreement for both devices and after doing so I was required to end the call. I did so in an orderly fashion and expected a confirmation # to arrive in my email regarding the placed order.
I have never received a confirmation email. I decided to sleep on it and assumed a confirmation email would be sent sometime tomorrow. Nothing has since been received however. I woke up early this morning around 6AM Alaska time to speak to another live chat representative, Bryan, in the billing department who assured me the order was currently processing and verified the order #. I asked him whether or not it was typical for a customer to not receive a confirmation email for an order placed and he said it can sometimes take up to 2-3 business days. He then stated that he had taken note of the issues I was experiencing and told me he would transfer me to the sales department as they would be able to provide more information regarding the shipment of both devices and a confirmation email, as he stated he did not want me to have to wait any longer than necessary to receive said devices.
I was then transferred to Devon in the sales department via the live chat service where I was then required to repeat everything I had said to both Bryan and the other representatives I had spoken too. After a lengthy discussion and repeating everything I have just wrote he told me the order was indeed processing and that he would send a confirmation email in the next 30 minutes.
That was 2 hours ago. It is now 8am Alaska time and I still have not received a confirmation email regarding my order. I was sent an email by Verizon an hour ago stating I had a device to "discover". The email contained no information regarding the shipment of my device, the order confirmation number, or anything regarding my account. The email I received was a typical spam email asking an individual to check out the current available phones and sign up for a new contract.
All I want is a confirmation email to assure that the devices are being sent. I need my phone for work and to communicate with my family in the lower 48. I desperately need to make sure that the device is in fact being sent to the proper address, this is why a confirmation email of the order is so important. I do not care about the shipping speed I just want what I ask to be taken care of for a change. I would hate to sit here unable to determine what the status of my devices are only for the order to be stuck in "processing" limbo and be unable to receive the devices when I was told they would be sent.
I feel I have been given the run around treatment way more than is typically given with any company when an individual is trying to work towards a solution. I have been patient and cordial with everyone I have spoken with, I have not raised my voice or shown stress or anger towards the situation I have only tried my best to work towards a solution with anyone I have spoken too but I am becoming increasingly frustrated with this situation.
Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated. This situation has left a sour taste in my mouth and if the devices were indeed not actually processed in an order, or they were not shipped correctly, or in fact if the order had never existed at all it will only deter me from keeping my Verizon account active and affect my decision to switch to another provider.Hello APVzW, we absolutely want the best path to resolution. My apologies for multiple attempts of replacing the device. We'd like to verify the order information and see if we can locate the tracking number. Please send a direct message with the order number so we can dive deeper. Here's steps to send a direct message: http://vz.to/1b8XnPy We look forward to hearing from you soon.

If I go to the location of the Service in Library, right click and choose Open in automator, I get the blue and white barber pole for hours but the service does not open. I need to edit it and it is long and complex, so I don't want to have to recreate it.
I relocated the file to the desktop and opened using automatorwhich then crashed giving this message

MacBook Japanes keyboard issue (and very poor Apple customer service)
I AM A BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED APPLE CUSTOMER / USER.
Over the past 3 years I have been a loyal purchaser and user of Apple products. I have bought a PowerBook G4 17", 2 Airport Extremes, 2 Airport press, 2 Ipods, 2 Nanos, 1 Shuffle, Aperture, various accessories and more recently a black MacBook.
I have relocated to Japan with my job in the past few month where I purchased my MacBook from an official large retailer (Yodobashi in Tokyo) because I was buying many other household items at the same time. My laptop works beautifully but is equipped with a Japanese keyboard (katakana) which is proving very confusing for all non Japanese users (incl. myself).
I visited the Apple flagship store in Ginza (Tokyo)to share my request. I was informed that they could swap the keyboards but only for laptops purchased in the flagship store. I believe that my Apple product merits the same level of customer care as an Apple product purchased in that store.
With this in mind, I am still seekigng a solution to my issue and would be grateful for some help. I believe that as a loyal customer and an English speaking user, I am entitled to being able to swap my keyboard (particularly as the service is provided).
Does anyone have any useful hints as to how I get my keyboard swapped (by Apple preferably to avoid voiding the warranty).
MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.10) xHi desalaberry.
Welcome to macbook forum.
I am not to familiar with Japan authorized service center and their apple store policy, you also can check this:
http://www.apple.com/jp/store/english/
Keyboard and Mac OS Language
Your Mac can be ordered with an English language (U.S.) style keyboard, or Japanese - the choice is yours. The Mac OS X operating system supplied with your Mac is multilingual so can be set up in English and a large range of international languages.
If your macbook still returnable, just return that to the original store and order one with english layout on apple store at Ginza or other near you:

(scroll down to bottom)
Other way is to buy wired or wireless english layout mac keyboard and connect that to your macbook.
Hope ypu can talk it out with them.

I have an older iPHone Type MB384LL probably type 1 or 2 16GB version. It was originally used in USA with an AT&T account. I am now in Bulgaria and using a Bulgarian simcard from a local company - MTel. I am told that if I update the software via iTunes the phone will be disabled as it is not using the original AT&T card (original account closed). Is this true? I know that originally all iPhones were tied to a particular service provide, but there has to be a mechanism for dealing with relocating etc.
Your phone has been hacked to make it work where you now live. Thus, updating software or restoring your phone will re-lock it to AT&T. Since AT&T will not unlock an iPhone for anyone for any reason, there is no way to get your phone officially unlocked. If you update software or restore the phone, you will have to hack it again. This will also require the last AT&T sim card that was used in the phone.

Relocating to the US: Wat do I need for HDTV?
Hi,
I am relocating from Europe to the US in November. I found an apartment in NYC and the landlord send me different utility applications including cable TV. I will have to buy a new TV in the US (probably Flat-Screen TV with HDTV), but I don't know what to do with the Time Warner Cable application forms.
They offering me cable television converters, but which one should I choose? These are the possibilities:
Digital Standard Cable Converters
Digital Standard Cable DVR Converters
High Definition Converters
High Definition DVR Converters
And what about DVR request? They are offering HDXtra package and/or DVR/HD-DVR.
I am totally confused!!
Thank you
ChrisHey Chris,
Basically, what you are looking at appears to be two different types of service: digital standard and high-definition cable. Both choices should include the option of an additional DVR, which may come at a slightly higher monthly service fee.
If all that you’re interested in is basic cable service, you probably will want to choose either the “Digital Standard Cable Converter” or “High Definition Converter” option. If you want to be able to record your favorite shows as well, you would need to select the “Digital Standard Cable DVR Converter” or “High Definition DVR Converter” option instead. Remember though that in order to receive the highest resolution broadcasts available (1080i and 1080p), you would need to choose one of the two HD packages.
Hope this helps you out.
