Hi @sixth89 ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers and ideas!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I see that when you startup your notebook that you see this error message"startup then choose repair. Then i get cmd display REM couldn't detect 2 HDDs."
This sounds like you may have a hard drive issue.  I would start by testing the hard drive for errors. Fortunately HP has provided tools to assist you with that outside of Windows.   Here is a link to  Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS.
Please post back the results.
I await your response.

  • My v3753au (32bit win7) bios cannot detect internal dvdrom & hard to detect internal hdd?

    hi...
my v3753au is wonderfully running on 32 bit win7.  lately the bios cannot detect the internal dvdrom & kinda hard to detect (longer than usual) the internal hdd during startup.  i've tried with the other dvdrom & it's still the same.  however, the one that i used is still ok on other laptop.  fyi, i've tried with the original f.15 version as well as the latest f.28 version but both let me down.  when win7 runs, dvdrom doesn't appear either in win explorer or device manager.  i've also checked the registry for that filter thing but it isn't there.  any suggestions of what should i try next?
    tq for the help...

    > I couldn't reinstall/recover new system from CD cos Win7 couldn't detect any drive while installing.
Its no matter if the SATA mode is set to AHCI or compatible mode. The HDD should be recognized by BIOS even if the AHCI mode has been selected.
At the first BIOS page the HDD should be listed with the name and size.
If it isnt the case, it could be possible that your HDD controller is faulty.
What HDD did you purchase exactly? Is it a 2.5 SATA HDD?

  • MSI x48c platinum - does not detect SATA HDDs

I am having some problems with a pc build with motherboard not detecting SATA HDDs (MIS x48c Platinum).
I believe I have exhausted all other avenues, and I would appreciate some help if I have missed something obvious.
(details of other components are listed at end of mail).
When I built pc using these components, and went into BIOS settings, the SATA HDD's were not detected.  I tried changing BIOS settings, but no difference if SATA, AHCI, or IDE settings.
I removed the HDDs and successfully tested them in another machine (also formatted them while had them istalled in other pc).
IDE optial drives are detected.  I have tried to boot with these disconnected to ensure no isues with both IDE and SATA drives connected, but this did not resolve issues.
I have also tried connecting HDD to different onboard SATA ports, and connecting just one drive with no success.
Resetting BIOS defaults, and using clear CMOS reset did not resolve issues either.
Sometimes on boot, it takes a few attempts to boot correctly, and on these occassions I receive an error message "Warning !!! The previous performance of overclocking is failed, and the system is restored to the default settings, Press any key except "DEL" to enter setup ......."  I haven't tried to set any over clocking.
I read about a number of issues on MSI forum related to SATA drives which were resolved by BIOS upgrade (mobo was shipped with v.7.0 released 20 March 08).  I managed to install an old IDE HDD and flash BIOS, but still no resolution of issues detecting SATA drives (BIOS V.7.2 released 29 July 08).
I've tried everything I can think of at this stage.  Is there anything else I should try, or is there something wrong with this motherboard?
    Spec:
    Motherboard:
    343949 MSI X48C Platinum, X48, Socket-775,
    DDR2/DDR3, ATX, GbLAN, 2xPCI-Ex(2.0)x1
    Other components in build:
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
Graphics Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 512MB
    HDD 2 x Samsung SpinPoint T166 500GB
    RAM 4GB (2x2GB) GeIL DDR3 1333MHz Value Dual Channel (7-7-7-24) PC3-10660
PSU 700W X-Power ATX SLI PSU
ODD DVD & CDR drives from an old pc - IDE connections.

i just remember     i had once similar problem with a sata driver. the issue is this you can not adjust everything in bios in one go and expect mobo to know about it. what i mean is this for instance you disable the raid then you save it and exit and then when it reboot you go back to bios and reset another another parameter,  you save and exit and on reboot you go back to bios and reset another parameter. i got round the prob that way and it worked and mobo saw the sata HDD. give this a shoot good luck and finally make sure raid is disabled
this is what i would do
1- make sure the jumper setting on your IDE Hdd is correct (Y may have to try this twice as there are two different setting on jumper setting for Master)
    2- connect the sata HDD
    3-click on power
4-go to bios and disable raid save exit
5-on reboot go back to bios
6--on first option click on it then you should see all devices that can be seen by mobo if you do not see sata HDD you have to click on enable for the auto to see the device once it sees the device save and exit. REMEMBER THE JUMPER SETTING  ON IDE HDD CAN CAUSE PROB . SO try the other jumper setting for master, repeat this procedure once more hopefully you get it right

  • Migration assistant doesn't detect my HDD.

There were some problems on my Dad's MacBook. After trying to solve the problems (including, going to the support service of the shop he bought the Mac), I decided to get lost of all the data and to reinstall the Leopard on the computer.
So first I made a Time Machine backup on a external HDD, before I reinstalled Leopard on it.
Then I connected my HDD (LaCie 320GB) to the MacBook. I saw the symbol on my desktop.
He asked if I wanted to use this HDD for Time Machine Backups, I canceled.
Than I opened Migration Assistant, but when he wanted me to choose from which HD I wanted to copy all my stuff, there was only MacIntosh HD, the internal HD of the MacBook.
For some reason he didn't detect my HDD, although it was on my Desktop.
Does anyone know how comes? What to do?
Are there other possilities to copy the old stuff from the HDD to the MacBook?
    Thanks in advance!
    PS: MacBook, 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OS X 10.5.4

    Hello
Migration Assistant looks for an installed Operating System. Your TM backup on the external drive is just an archive that Migration Assistant cannot access, and so it does not see it.
You could have made a clone using SuperDuper and migration assistant would see that and be able to work with it, but alas, not the TM archive.
Another thing you could have done and could still do is reinstall the TM backup using the Install DVD and selecting Restore from the TM Backup. Much like you did, but use the Time Machine backup as the source of the files, and that would have put everything back as it was.

  • Mainboard did not detect SATA1 HDD

My PC using P965 Platinum Series MS-7238 motherboard, Processor Intel Dual Core 3.0 GHz, 128MB Nvidia G-Force PCI VGA, RAM 1024MB Visipro, HDD 80GB Seagate barracuda 7200rpm SATA1, and I have bought it on 2nd of June 2007. during these periode of time (the date I bought till last week) my PC running well.
Last week 21st of may 2009, I found my PC did not detect my HDD. I have installed the HDD to another PC in order to check whether the problem was caused by my HDD or the motherboard. After I tested the HDD by installing it to another PC, it seems the HDD is in good condition and running well.
After that I try to change the powerd cord and SATA1 cord to the HDD with the brand new one to check if the problem caused by the cords and still my motherboard did not detect the HDD. I am very confused what is wrong with my PC. Please help me to solve this problem so that I can use my PC back.

    Hi,
the board has two controllers (ICH8R Primary SATA Controller (SATA Ports 1-6)) and JMicron JMB361 (SATA Port 7)).  Which SATA Port is your hard drive connected to?  The chance that both onboard SATA Controllers or all SATA Ports have been damaged is very low.  Try other SATA ports and see if the situation changes if you connect it to a different controller.
Also, have you cleared CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU to see if that changes anything?

    Hi
Maybe you should post some more details about this issue:
    - Exact notebook model
    - Is it an external HDD?
    - If yes, what is the exact model description?
However, maybe you should test another USB cable. I had a similar issue and the reason was a faulty USB cable.

  • Can't install mavericks on my MacBook Pro mid 2010. Can't detect the HDD.

Hi all, find it very frustrating trying to install the new OS after the hard drive is not detected. I'm trying a clean install of the Mavericks using an 8Gb usb flash drive.
However, when trying to reformat the drive using disk utility and trying to repair to drive to see it there is a problem I was able to do both without any difficulty.
Here's the steps I've undertook so far.
1.) Boot the MBP using the Mavericks installer downloaded in Apps store. I have created beforehand the USB installer using Lion DiskMaker app. I have tried the installer working on my wife MacBook Pro 2011.
2.) Pressing alt key during boot up will only show my USB stick without the formatted HDD. Selecting the USB stick will show a circle with a line and shuts down the MBP.
Any valuable help is much appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
At first, it looks like your Mac is not compatible with OS X Mavericks, so maybe you were using a different OS X version like Lion.
To check whether your Mac is compatible or not, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and check "Model Identifier". It should be "MacBook5,1" or higher (if you have got a MacBook) or "MacBookPro3,1" or higher (if you have got a MacBook Pro)

  • Network card no longer detected after hdd failure

So yeah, my laptop's hdd crashed, I cloned it to another.
It no longer detects my pcmcia card, model GCS2220.
I tried chrooting the install from livecd and reinstalling kernel, still nothing.
Odd thing is, before I chroot the card works fine, after chrooting ifconfig fails to work with eth0.

Did you bind (mount -bind olddir newdir) /dev and mount /sys and /proc (I mean that's the place wherefrom ifconfig gets its information ) from the livecd's environment into ur chrooted environment ??

  • HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3515-Macbook and iPad couldn't detect my printer for AirPrint

Hello, my problem is my Macbook and my iPad couldn't suddenly detect/find my hp3515 for airprinting. I had to resort to connecting the cable to my macbook in order to print. Would appreciate any help, Thanks!

    Hi CathieDucase,
From your description, it sounds like the printer is no longer on the network, thus the Mac and the iPad can no longer see it. Please use the following document to troubleshoot the issue; 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X.
If the issue persists, you might find something you have not already tried in this document; Printing Over a Wireless Network with Apple's AirPrint FAQs Open the link and click on What if a 'No AirPrint Printers Found' message displays on my Apple device?
I hope this helps. Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance. I will watch for your reply. Thanks.

If its a SATA-II (3Gb/s) drive, it will probably never work on that board.
VIA VT8237 chipset has known incompatibility issues with SATA 3Gb/s drives, which cannot be fixed. Either try and get hold of a SATA 1.5Gb/s drive, or just use a PATA (IDE) drive instead.
yes bro it is a sata-II 3GB/S drive..
    any other workaround??
