Reminder app bug

So I upgraded to iOS 5 Wednesday, and naturally played with the new stuff.  I made a reminder to test the location thing, and set it to give me a reminder when I left for work yesterday morning.  Worked perfectly.
It gave me the same reminder this morning, but I didn't set it to be a repeat reminder.  I've tried to delete it, but it's not giving me that option when I swipe it.  Also, it's not showing up in my reminders list.  I can only find it if I do a search in reminders, then when I click on it, it takes me back to my blank reminder

Reminders is VERY buggy unfortunately...
Reminders that are stuck
Crashing
Freezing
Incomplete sync from iCal to Reminders (have only seen on occurrence of this problem)
Requests to Repeat disappear
The last one makes Reminders unusable for me right now. It's is NOT dependable. (50% of the tasks that I set to Repeat have the Repeat button turned off the next time I look at them!)
Too bad... The sync and Siri are wonderful. I hope they'll issue a fix soon.

  • Reminder app stop working when connecting it to iCloud

The reminder app suddenly stopped working. I can start the app but it doesn´t show any reminder list. I´m not able to show the main window with ⌘+0. This first happened to me under Mountain Lion. After upgrading to Mavericks everything seemed fine again and worked flawlessly. After a couple of weeks the same problem occured again. The only solution I have come up with yet is do disconnect Reminder app from iCloud reminders. After doing that I can start the app again it seems to work fine, without the reminders in iCloud though. I have tried to reinstall Mavericks but with no luck. Is there any solution for this problem available or is this a know bug which will be corrected anytime soon? I use the Reminder app all day at work so now this is very frustrating to me not being able to trust this app.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library/com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist. Then go to Preferences. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • Regarding new Reminder app in Mountain Lion:  is there a away to sort reminders by due date in the same fashion you can in the iCloud version of Reminders?

Regarding new Reminder app in Mountain Lion:  is there a way to sort reminders in due date order in the same fashion as you can in the iCloud version of Reminders?

So true! I have to agree: "It appears Reminders in 10.8 did not get a whole lot of thought put into it regarding how folks actually use reminders."
With Mountain Lion, Reminders no longer resembles a task-management (to-do) app in any way. I used to be able to limp along using it for my to-dos (although it never did accommodate this need well). This upgrade has made Reminders completely unusable for task management.
Once I got over my disappointment, I did some research and decided to try "Things." This application has all the functionality I've been wanting all along. It has a Mac version, an iPhone version, and an iPad version (among others)--and it keeps all devices synched via the Cloud (just not the iCloud ... but who needs the i ?). I wish I'd discovered it years ago. I'm glad now that Mountain Lion put Reminders over the edge; otherwise, I would not have made this discovery.
"Things" (oddly named though it is) comes close to the old Franklin planner software I used to love and haven't been able to find a substitute for. It can import items from Reminders, and it works with Siri. It's a joy to use, and it does everything I want it to do plus some things I never thought of and will use all the time. I downloaded the free trial version last night and within an hour paid for it with gratitude.

Try to force quit the app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode.

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

  • Reminder app not working correctly, issue started around Sept. 1,2014. Will not allow me to set date and time for a reminder.

Today I noticed an issue with my Reminder app on my IPhone 5s. Using OS 7.1.2. I called Apple, and the tech didn't know what he was doing and just trying different things. The reminder app will not let me set a date and time for reminder. Finally he escalated the call to a senior advisor who was rude, arrogant and unprofessional. He insisted the Reminder App was updated with the new update of IOS September/October 2013. Not true, the issue just started about 5 days ago August 31,2014. Now there is an additional reminder line for reminder entries that I have to use and have to transfer all my reminders manually from the other part of the app. The feature does exist; if I try to set a date and time for the reminder it appears for 1-2 seconds and then disappears.
Has anyone else noticed this issue?

He insisted the Reminder App was updated with the new update of IOS September/October 2013. Not true
    Yes, it is true.
iOS 7 was released 18 Sep 2013. At this time, the Reminders app was updated (with most everything else).
the issue just started about 5 days ago August 31,2014.
Your issue just started but the app was not updated 5 days ago.
Now there is an additional reminder line for reminder entries that I have to use
I don’t understand what this means...
Open Reminders, type the reminder, tap the i at the end, turn on Remind me on a day and enter the date/time.

  • How can i print lists from the reminder app

Does anybody know how to print lists from the Reminder app ?

There's no print menu in Reminders.
You can take a screen shot and print that.  Hit command-shift-3 when Reminders is showing, then hit the spacebar, and then click on the Reminders window and you'll get a screen shot on your desktop.  You can then open that in Preview and print from there.
A better solution though is to just use an iPhone and sync, and have your reminders with you :-)

  • I have a new IPAD. There are no "list", "date," and "add a reminder" buttons on the Reminder app. There are also no "calendar" and "add an event" bottons on the Calendar App. Why?

I just bought a new IPAD. There are no "list", "date," and "add a reminder" buttons on the Reminder App. There are also no  "calendar" and "add an event" buttons on the Calendar App. Why? Is there a way to add either a reminder or an event?

For the reminders app - just tap on an open space on the ruled paper window under the heading in order to create a new reminder. Or tap on the + sign in the upper right corner of the app. You do not have the + sign on the app?
For the calendars app to go Settings>iCloud>Calendars>On. Toggle the setting on and off and the + sign should appear in the lower right corner of the calendars app. Tap the + sign to create a new event.

  • Reminder app problem adding new entry.

I updated my iPad to IOS 5. Testing the "reminder" app lets me easily add new reminders. After three tries all the buttons under "edit" disappeared. Is there any way to reset/reinstall the app or to get the buttons back. As I'm from Germany maybe there are not the correct translations for "Erinnerungen" (Reminder) or "Bearbeiten" (Edit). Sorry.
    Can somebody help?

The format of your ldif file is incorrect and does not containt valid LDIF format (see RFC 2849)
First an empty line is a separator for entries within LDIF, so the data appears as several LDAP entries not just one.
Second, the attribute name is attributeTypes and not attributeType.
Third, there must be a colon ':' separator between attributetypes and the value for that attribute type definition.

    Ludovic

  • Cannot add more than one reminder, add new list, to reminder app in iOS 7.1, app crashes a lot

    Hello Kyem22,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with the Reminders app quitting unexpectedly.
The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching all the applications on your iPad:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting all the apps, I recommend restarting your iPad and then resetting if it's still not working:
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPad. The Reminders app is not something that can individually be reinstalled, but backing up your iPhone and restoring the iOS software will reinstall the application:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Unwanted Lists appearing in Reminder App

Recently, I have been getting random, unwanted List titles appearing in my Reminder App. TheY all look like this with varying numbers and letters:
    E598B0B0-BBDA-46B5-98E8-5FD44DCC150D
I have deleted them, but them keep reappearing out of nowhere. I am talking about dozens and dozens of Lists with no content. It's cluttering up the Reminders app and is driving me crazy. Any clue what is causing this?
    Many thanks for any suggestions,
    Joe

I don't know if this will apply to you or not, it certainly won't be of any help because I never did figure out how to fix it.
Anyway, I have my hubby's yahoo email and calendar set up on my phone. I noticed that in those settings there was an option to turn on Reminders. I thought, oh cool, if we set up reminders on our phones, it will be pushed to each others phone like the calendar. Not. In Reminders, there was a page listed with his email addy on it and everytime I would add something to that page it would disappear. A couple of days later a couple of pages showed up in Reminders on his phone with a huge string of number and letters in the heading where the email address had been. I never did get it to work right and just turned it off on both phones. I don't know if what I was tryng to do was just wishful thinking or if it was a glitch. I think odds are its about 50/50.

  • Reminder app doesn't alert correctly

I have the iPhone 4S. The reminder app either alerts late (varying from 8-20 minutes) or not at all for a time-based alert.  Very frustrating when relying on it to remind me of something.  Any ideas?

I checked that already--not the problem.  Never a silly question if it works!

  • Reminder app in ios5 is unusable - Please Help!

I upgraded to ios5 with no problems on my iPad2 and everything seemed to go just fine. However I tried to use the new Reminder app and found it to be corrupted somehow and unusable. I have checked the app on and iPad1 and an iPhone so know how it should work.  On my iPad2 it opens up on the completed screen but does not detail any lists of any kind on the left side panel at all....its just blank.....the default lists are gone!.  I therefore cannot choose the "reminder" list to make the plus symbol appear so that I can add a reminder.  Anyone have any idea???.....please help.  I cannot delete the app and reinstall as its part of the preinstalled stuff.

  • Unable to open Reminder App

Unable to open the Reminder App.
    I have the Reminder app.
I loaded all the birthdays I have to remember.
A couple of days ago, I noticed that the icon has a red circle with a 1 in in it.
I touched the icon and it sorta blinks but does not open.
If I hold it, all the icons start to jiggle and I do NOT want to delete the app after all the time I spent inputing.
I tried the suggestion of holding home and power until black with white apple showed up.
But the app is still not working.

Is this a third party app? Try deleting it and reinstalling it.
