Reminder Repeat

I appologize if this is common knowledge or has been answered elsewhere but I've spent an hour trying to get the answer.  I am trying to understand how the repeat function works for reminders, and have read multiple different answers.  I'll layout the scenario of what I hope it does and if someone who knows could let me know that would be greatly appreciated.
I am hoping that after you add a date to a reminder, the repeat option will repeatedly alert you on the set interval about the reminder until you mark the reminder as complete.  Once the reminder is complete, it is done and the reminder is not recreated.

If you set a monthly reminder for the 30 what would you expect it to do in February?
If you set it for the 31st what would you expect it to do for February, April, June, September or November?
It has to be custom to work in these circumstances.
The Palm calendar simply defaulted to the last day of the month if the month was shorter than the specified date. But that isn't always what users wanted either.

  • Can I make a birthday reminder repeat every year? (Using the Birthday Reminder List)

I see that when I enter contact birthdays they show up on my calendar...great.  But what about the children of my contacts?  I thought I would enter their birthdates using the Birthday Reminder List, but when I enter their birthday, it insists on entering the due date....will this reminder keep repeating each year?  If not, there's no sense in entering the birthdate.  I know I can set up an annually repeating event for the birthday but it just seems like I should be able to use the Birthday Reminder List for this.   Thanks

Here's what I've done which may work for others.  I've scrapped the idea of using the birthday reminders function.  Instead, I created a new calendar (click the settings icon in the upper right of the icloud website) called "Birthdays-Non Contact".  Then I entered the missing bdays as all day events (repeating every year) on this calendar.  So now all my birthdays show on my main calendar....some come from the birthday field in the contacts database and the rest come from my newly created "Birthdays-Non Contact" calendar events.
Interestingly, if I choose to show only my "Birthdays-Non Contact" calendar, all my contact birthdays appear on it as well, so it gives a complete list of all my birthdays and nothing else....cool.
I should say, everything I'm talking about is what I see on the ICloud site.  My husband has the phone at the moment which I presume will show the same picture.

  • I copied a calendar item from Outlook to the Calendar app.  I can't delete it and the reminder for the meeting repeats itself every few seconds.

I copied a calendar item from Outlook to the Calendar app.  I can't delete it and the reminder repeats itself every few seconds.  How can I stop the reminder?  How can I delete the calendar item?

Can you access in on icloud.com and delete the event?  If not, and force-quitting didn't help, try going to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Calendars, choose Delete from Mac when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then restart your Mac and go back and check Calendars again.

  • Repeated reminder alarms

I've played around a bit with setting reminders but I can't seem to get it to do what I want.
For example: I want to be reminded with a pop up alarm of an event say 4 days prior to the event and also every day leading up to the event .
Do I have to set up 4 reminders one for each of the days prior to the event or is there a way to just have one reminder repeat it's self every day for a specific number of days before an event.
Setting an alarm for each of the days seems to be a cumbersome way to do it.
    Thank you

You could set a separate alarm for each of the four days, but it simpler would be to set the 4-day prior alarm, and when it pops up tell it to repeat in 1 day. Do this each time it pops up until the scheduled day.

  • How do I set a reminder to repeat every 2 months in Reminders program?

How do I set a reminder to repeat every 2 months in Reminders program? The program allows you to set a reminder to repeat every 2 weeks, but it doesn't allow give you much freedom if you want to set it to repeat, every 2 months or every 3 months, or every few days, etc.
Can someone advise how I can set up a reminder (To Do) to repeat every 2 months?
    Thanks,

unfortunately you can only use the predetermined time lenght's in the reminder app (hour, day, week ,month ,year) and so on. You could either set it to remind you monthly or you could set it up as an event in your calendar as it is a bit more customizable on time

  • Repeated deadline reminder... Looking for repeated deadline.

    Hi,
I have already created a latest end modeled deadline to send out a reminder in 1 hour. I was thinking that, the modeled deadline would send the reminder every one hour. But the reminder gets sent only once. The client wants repeated reminders.
I saw somewhere that, we can use a loop step, I have 3 questions bhere:
-How do we wait for the specified time as in the modeled deadline?
-How do we place the loop?
-How can we determine whether the user decision step (for which the deadline reminder is sent out) is still valid?
Please let me know, incase you have questions.
    Thanks,
    Sukumar.

You will need a loop. Here is what you can do:
1- Create a 2-branch fork (one for the task and one for the reminder) with only 1 branch needed to complete the fork
2- Put the task in one branch (you don't need to set the deadline monitoring there)
3- Create a loop in the other branch:
3a- The terminating event of the loop is whether the task has been executed (you can create a flag or something that gets set after the task is actually executed)
3b- The first step in the loop is to wait for 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day (up to you) - to do that, use a do-nothing task and set the desired start date/time to 1 hour, 1 day, etc. You can create your own task (create a method that does nothing and create a task that calls it) or you can use some standard tasks (for example TS04200011)
3c- The second step in the loop is to send the reminder (you might want to check for the flag before sending the reminder
This is a simplified explanation. You need to take care of the details of actually creating container elements, etc.

  • "Remind me" not working when "Repeat" is set for reminders

    Hi,
My reminders used to work fine. I have a number of reminders that are set to repeat daily, or weekly, or monthly etc and they use to come up as alarms. For past few days I'm noticing they arent coming up anymore.
    I just did a test.
I created a reminder with repeat set to never. And another with repeat set to daily. For both I set the "Remind me" to say 5 mins later.
5 mins later, only the first reminder alarm came up.
I would really appreciate any help pls.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
So here is what I did:
    1. Closed all apps: Double tapped home button. This swiping up and off isnt available in my iphone 4S v5.1.1. So I pressed the app icons right on the bottom until delete sign appear on top. Then I deleted all of them.
    2. Reset my device: Held down the home button along with wake button until Power Off slider appeared. I powered off my device.
After restart i again set 2 reminders, one with repeat daily and the other without any repeat.
After 5 mins, alert came ONLY for the one without repeat.
    So it dint work

  • Reminder App: Repeat base on Completion Date

Is there a way to do this that I am not seeing.  Want the repeating reminder to be based on when it was completed not created. Thanks!

He insisted the Reminder App was updated with the new update of IOS September/October 2013. Not true
    Yes, it is true.
iOS 7 was released 18 Sep 2013. At this time, the Reminders app was updated (with most everything else).
the issue just started about 5 days ago August 31,2014.
Your issue just started but the app was not updated 5 days ago.
Now there is an additional reminder line for reminder entries that I have to use
I don’t understand what this means...
Open Reminders, type the reminder, tap the i at the end, turn on Remind me on a day and enter the date/time.

  • How to delete one instance of a repeating reminder

Let's say I have an appointment that repeats daily in Calendar. The appointment is visible every day in my calendar. If one day's appojntment is cancelled, I can delete that day's appointment and Calendar asks if I want to delete just the one or all future appointments. If I choose just the one, all future appointments are unaffected.
Let's assume the same scenario in Reminders. Here, however, I only see the reminder in the current day. If I look at tomorrow or subsequent day's reminders, it's not there. Once I check today's reminder as done, then tomorrow's appears. However, if I want to just delete today's reminder - but not tomorrow's or the next day's etc. - I can't. If I delete today's reminder, there is no dailogue asking if I want to delete just today's or all future reminders, Reminders just goes ahead and delete's the repeating reminder, doesn't create one for tomorrow, and all subsequent reminders are gone for all time.
So how do you delete just one instance of a repeating reminder, as you do for a repeating appointment?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve  = : ^ )

Thanks again, but have you read the question?
I already have a reminder which repeats daily. The way Remidners does this is to show just today's event and, as you point out, when you check it off, Reminders creates tomorrow's event.
However, today's event – but not tomorrow's nor the next day's nor the next day's etc. – has been cancelled, and I want to delete today's event. However, when I delete today's event, Reminders doesn't create tomorrow's event, and the reminder and all it's subsequent iterations are gone. I wanted to delete just today's iteration of a repeating reminder but, in doing it, I deleted _all_ iterations. Do you understand?
Calendar behaves differently, and shows all iterations of repeating appointments and, when you delete one, it asks if you want to delete just that one or all future events. Reminders should do this, too, but it doesn't.
I hope this is clear, I don't know how else to explain it.

  • How can I set up the repeat of a reminder on iCloud?

IOS5 allows repeats to be set for reminders. I cannot see how to do it in iCloud however. iCloud includes a repeat field in the Calendar appointments create/edit form but not in the Reminder create/edit form. I've checked the iCloud online help but nothing is mentioned about setting the repeat of a reminder. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. This doesn't work for me. The "alert" field appears when I assign a due date to a Reminder on icloud.com but the repeat option does not appear. I have since found this reference to it http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4861?viewlocale=en_US confirminng that icloud.com does not supports repeating Reminders. In fact reminders on the iCloud, com, IOS5 and Outlook platforms gives me the impression that this app is "work in progress". There are different basic features missing on all the platforms. Outlook appears to have a problem syncing edits to recurring tasks (which is what Outlook converts an iclouds reminder into) via the iCloud Add-on as duplicate recurring tasks appear after the sync with iCloud. Another annoying problem is that the priority of IO5 reminders do not show up in any views. I hope improvement will be rushed out quickly. Thanks once again for trying to help.

  • Repeat rings setting gone? (not text reminder)

Unless I'm losing it, I used to be able to set the number of times a ring tone repeated.... NOT the text reminder, but the number of times any of the default tones for my incoming calls would sound.  If the sound was "beep,"  each time the phone rang it would beep-beep or beep-beep-beep, depending on the number of repeats set.  With either iOS 7 or 7.1, this appears to be gone and my rings are still repeating with no way to set then back to the default of "once."  I've tried changing ring tones and no difference.  I believe the feature used to be an accessibility option, but it's no longer there.  Any advice on how to change this, short of a factory reset? Thanks.

    Meg,
It was definitely an option....  it's how I got into this position in the first place.  I don't use garage band and have never created ringtones or imported through iTunes.  If I could find a forum somewhere where we iOS 6 and iOS 7 menus hierarchies were posted, I'm sure we'd see this listed.
