Reminders and task dont update from mac
When adding or checking tasks and reminders from the Reminders app on my mac wont update on icloud site or on my ios devices.
Known issue?
When trying between icloud site an ios device everything works fine...
First check that all your settings are correct, that reminders syncing (calendars on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the reminders you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device by tapping the icon with three lines in the top left corner of the screen, or the right side panel by clicking on the small triangle to the right of the word 'Reminders' in iCal on a computer), non iCloud reminders will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your reminders are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking reminders syncing (calendars syncing on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

I am trying to install the updates from Mac AppStore but it keeps aborting saying the it cannot verify the PreFlight file and that it's not signed by Apple. What is going on?
Just attempted to run the update and still rec'd the same message. I also see that there are many others who are havig the exact same problem. How can I get Apple support to look at it?

I have seen so much response about the Mountain Lion update slowing down computers. I am updating from Mac OS x 10.6.8. What can I do to ensure the upgrade will go fine? Do I unplug my external hard drive before installing, or keep it plugged in?

There's no reason to think that Mountain Lion will slow down your Mac. Just make a backup of your data before upgrading with Time Machine > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
Also, check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com Upgrade them to a compatible version or delete them before upgrading.
The external drive won't make the OS X Mountain Lion installer fail, but it's better to unplug it during the upgrade.
iWork '08 is compatible with Mountain Lion. iWork '09 includes OS X Mountain Lion features and can be purchased at the Mac App Store.
To upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend at least 4 GB of RAM. You can check how much memory you have in Apple menu > About this Mac -
How do I update from MAC OS X 10.6.8 to a later version? The software I'm trying to run indicated I needed MAC OS X 10.7 or later.
Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

Trying to update from Mac OSX 10.7.2 to 10.7.4 via the Updater. Getting a message half way through the download stating the updated "could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading." Any ideas for picking up the latest Update?

MattEither try redownloading or try downloading the standalone updater: OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo).
Such errors may be caused by glitches in your Internet connection or because of hard drive problems. I suggest you try the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu. -

Many millions have but read up on Mavericks and see if it suits you. We have no idea on your work practices, type of computer, etc. it's a personal choice and asking such a general question in a troubleshooting forum will not get you many positive replies. Google Mavericks OSXS and decide for yourself

IPhoto 9.2.1 update from Mac App Store will not update from 9.1.5
I downloaded the iPhoto 9.2.1 update from Mac App Store.
When I try to update from 9.1.5 to 9.2.1, I get the message: "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store."
Since the Mac App Store is where I downloaded the update from, I don't know how exactly to proceed.

I have iPhoto 9.1.5 which was installed on my iMac that I received November, 2011.
My wife has the 9.2.1 version of iPhoto on her MacBook Pro which she bought months before I bought my iMac.
My iPhoto library opens fine in 9.1.5 on my iMac but will not open the copy of her iPhoto library that I copied to my iMac. We have two libraries and I want the same one she has instead of two separate libraries.
I went to the Mac App Store and downloaded iPhoto9.2.1 Update.dmg to my desktop.
I then opened the .dmg and clicked on the iPhoto9.2.1Update.pkg.
The install iPhoto Update window started to open briefly before the Alert message "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available" appeared.

osx lion: available space on my HD has increased significantly (doubled!) since the iCloud and recovery disc updates for Mac. I am guessing OSX Lion now recalculates what is 'available' as I have not deleted anything major. I have two MacBook Air's (1 core 2 duo and 1 i5), both with 256 drives. I am also running win 7 on Parallels 7. Any thoughts?
you can't necessarily download the Mountain Lion installer via the App Store since it came already installed on your computer.

If you completed your installation of OS X, your installer may have been removed after your successful first login to OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion. Mac App Store's Purchases page should show Install OS X as being "Installed", and disallow its download, when viewed from a computer running OS X.
To redownload the installer on a computer running OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion, press and hold the Option key while you click the Purchases tab. If the button to the right of the Install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion item doesn't change to "Install" and allow you to download OS X, use Spotlight to search for "Install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion" on your computer. -

ThanksIf you're old phone that was repalced was a higher version of iOS, it wont be able to restore. Update your iPhone to the lastest iOS 7.0.4 and try to restore it then.
