Reminders App

   Hi there,
I was trying to figure out how to use the reminder app with its share features and was kinda stumped that notifications were not working.  Only when the other user physically opened the reminders app did they see that it had been updated.  I explored this a little further and found that the only way for notifications to work was to set a date and time for each reminder.
My question is, is there a way to just put in your reminder on a shared reminder list and have the other party immediately get a notification without setting up date and time or location for each one?

A couple of weeks after installing iOS 5 in my iPhone 4 I have notices some lag happening all around the system, that was definitely not there in the first days after the install. Core apps, like Mail, Messages and Photos work fast as usual, however the camera, the browser and the Reminders app work with some lag.
The Reminders app in particular dysfunctions very often- it is always now very slow and sometimes it will stuck while creating a new item. Only a restart of the device fixes the issue and then only temporarily. In trying to solve this, I turned off Location Services for the Reminder app, but in vain.
I think an  update on iOS 5 is much needed...

Dictation is not working in the reminders app on iPhone 4s IOS6. The microphone is grayed out. How do I re-enable the microphone?

One day I tried to dictate a note and discovered the microphone was grayed out.  As someone suggested I did a hard reset of my iPhone 4S and that didn't solve the problem.
Then I had an epiphany.  I use the Notes app a lot and have a lot of Notes stored in the app.  I tried deleting some of my many notes and "viola!" the microphone is black again.  My guess is the app has some kind of storage limit and when you hit that limit, the microphone is automatically turned off.  Anyway, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
    Hope this helps.

Also, the Calendar is loading very very slowly, and sometimes it quits and gives me the same error message as above.

The problem has been fixed with the most recent OS X software update.

  • Outlook tasks completed in iOS Reminders app regenerate 'orphaned' reminders endlessly in Outlook.

Our small business runs up-to-date (iOS 8) Apple devices that sync via MS Exchange with our email, contacts, reminders, etc.
I create a task in Outlook and include a reminder. The task and reminder sync to Reminders on my iPhone and iPad. When I mark a task complete on mobile, the reminder disappears there as it should... but it regenerates the reminder in Outlook! The Outlook task is complete, but the reminder pops up at the top of the list in the Outlook reminders pop-up window. Marking it complete there is an option, but it just regenerates a new reminder. The only way to remove this 'orphan' reminder is to dismiss the reminder or delete the task.
The iOS 8 Reminders app would be very useful but for this bug. It's even better that it puts my work tasks and home tasks (we use a Mac at home so no problem there) in one place. But as it is, the app is not a time saver, but a time-waster and a source of frustration.
    Please advise!

I do not know the answerr. Ik also have same question

  • How can i save multiple locations to my reminders app on the iphone 4?

I want to be reminded to do a task when I arrive home. Is it possible to save my home location (and other useful locations) to the reminders app? This is more useful than guessing when I will arrive at a location and setting a reminder for then.
If not possible at the moment, Apple please include this in the next iOS update. Thank you.

Yes, this is possible.  Go into your contacts list and choose yourself (hopefully you're in there and set up as the user on the phone.)  Then enter in your addresses (home, work, school, etc.) and next time you set up a location based reminder those address will be in there.

  • How can I set the Reminders app so that it does not shown my AppleID password as the header for my lists on my desktop or laptop screen?!?

My Reminders app which I sync with iPad shows my AppleID password as a heading for my lists when I have it open on my screen of my laptop or desktop. The iPad does not reveal the password the same way. Desktop is not so worrisome, but I don't understand why this would happen and is especially weird if I have the app open in public on my laptop.  Is this a default? What do I do to make sure the list does not show by password?  I understand that sharing the Reminders via the iCloud may cause a need to show what Reminder lists are being shared between a device and laptop, but why not a user name instead of the PASSWORD!!!?

Where in the Reminder's window are you seeing the password.  Here's what my Reminder's window looks like?
    That's Reminders V2.0 on 10.9.4.

  • How can I merge 'to dos' from SN iCal to 'reminders' app on ML

    Hi,
This is a question RE a clean install of ML ... moving from SL (which I did a few months back).
I have since noticed that there are a number of older 'to dos' that I need to refer to from before the upgrade. None if these were transferred over, b/c I did a clean install and rebuilt the system manually from my backups. I.e before I upgraded I exported my mail and calendar files (and still have a copy of them) and was wondering if there is an easy way for me to get all my to dos out of the old iCal?
I am worried that whatever I do now may put all my mail/etc out of sync (I use a few google accounts and store vaious mail on my Mac from other accounts).
In sum, now that Mac has moved to Reminders for to dos, is there any way I can import my older to dos into the new 'reminders' app do I can have them all in one app again?
Or  - are there any other suggestions ... apart from throwing in the towel and just going to MS Office?
    Cheers,
    Mark.

In Snow Leopard, add your iCloud account to Mail. This will link your To Do list in Mail to iCloud and the To Do items should appear in Reminders on iCloud. In Mountain Lion, sync Reminders to iCloud and hopefully you will get what you want. It works for me. I had a lot of trouble when I synced Address Book. Multiple Duplicates were created which was a pain to fix.
Snow Leopard iCloud - Address and iCal
    Snow Leopard iCloud –  iCal
    Snow Leopard iCloud – Mail

  • Reminders App does not work on Yosemite with two iCloud accounts.

The Reminders App does not work on Yosemite (10.10.1) with two iCloud accounts. It seems like when there are two iCloud accounts connected in Yosemite (10.10.1) the plist file for Reminders disappears.
I have tried restarting Reminders; restarting the mac; starting the mac in recovery mode to repair the disk and disk permissions; and starting the mac in recovery mode and reinstalling OSX.

Yes sharing Reminders list works. The problem is, I have one shared iCloud account with a colleague (shared calendar, Reminders and email). It makes it easier to run our business with a single shared iCloud account...I know it's not the typical usage.

  • Are the bugged badges for the iOS Reminders app a known issue?

I've seen quite a few posts covering many years on this issue, and it seems to have gone ignored by Apple.
The issue is badges not showing up for the Reminders app, even though they are turned on in the Notifications Center. It does not seem to be that they are simply broken, because if you change the priority of a reminder, or physically go in and "Snooze" a reminder, then it seems to force the app to pull up a badge.
I'm not totally sure what I expect out of another discussion, since most of the ones I have found ended with "yep, it's broken", but if you happen to know of a fix, or have heard that maybe Apple is aware of it... I'd love to hear it!
    Thanks!

Meg, Apple is obviously reading these boards to some degree. Regardless, it's sad that this has been an issue for this many years.

  • What's a good replacement for the reminders app?

Hello everyone, thanks for your input.
I've been on the phone with Apple support about this for some time and it seems that this was a core change made in Yosemite and since I "upgraded" to icloud drive, I can't just back to Mavericks and still having things sync via icloud.
The reminders app no longer supports grouping of completed tasks by the day they were completed, and instead just shows a big list of every reminder ever completed in that list. I have to note what proofs and designs  I make on a time sheet at the end of each pay period and to do that I need to know what task was completed what day. Reminders was a very slick way to keep track of both the things that still need doing as well as see what was completed when. Now that I've installed Yosemite the only way to see completed reminders organized by day is to log into the icloud web interface on an OSX or windows computer and I'm concerned that that's not going to be an option for much longer since iOS 8 and Yosemite have both removed it.   It's a small change but its absolutely core to what I do. It's one of those little workflow things that seems inconsequential but has the potential to accumulate and just totally screw up your my Sundays and delay my pay checks if not done right.  All the solutions I'm coming up with, from tally them in an excel sheet to noting them in the calendar app instead of reminders, to just writing them down on postits are all kind of a clumsy, error-prone steps backward to the point that rolling back to Mavericks is looking like the best option (a painful option but at least it's just a 1-time pain)
Before I start the mess of going in and rolling back to Mavericks and all that that entails I just wanted to see what other options are out there? Surely there's a 3'rd party app that does what reminders used to do.
Ideally I just want it to do 3 things
         1. let me add simple reminders from OSX, ipad or iphone
         2. sync them to all the devices.
         3. let me organize the completed reminders by what day they were completed.
    Thanks!

    Wunderlist
I would love to see reminders with better snchronization features... Not just between ios and OSX but also between ical-google cal etc...
A good alternative right now is Wunderlist from the Mac app store.
Pretty much does the same thing..
It has Notification and widget snchronization with Yosemite.
It also syncs between Ical Google Calendar, android and ios....
Reminders needs a lot of work in my opinion.
Wunderlist does what Reminders should be doing.
    It definitely addresses 1, 2
3 is also done... You will have to check it out to see if it does it the way you want....
If its for bussiness I would suggest you use the pro paid version for added functionality.
Free version is however great also.

Reminders is automatically installed with 10.8 or above. A new Mac should have 10.9; it's possible that, with a third-party vendor, you have an earlier OS. Check under the Apple menu in the top left and click About This Mac. That will tell you what version of OS X you have.

    No

    No
This just explains how to use reminders, which I already understand how to do.
What I want is the abililty to add a link to a contact or a phone number, so that I can get it to remind me to call someone at a given time.
But without the overhead of duplicating their contact details

  • Can't Set Time in "Reminders" App

This seems like a really basic question that should be a non-issue, but I can't figure out how to set a specific Time for the "Reminders" application on my Macbook Air 2012 (with Mountian Lion).
I can creat New Reminders, name them, I can make a reminder go off "by day" or "by location".
When I try to set a reminder "by day", I can name the note - then I have the ability to make the note "show info", where I can adjust which day on the calendar the note will be for.  I can adjust the date by clicking the date, which opens up a calendar.
However, if I click the time, nothing happens.  It seems to automatically set the time it will go off as the start of the following hour.
Is there a bug with my app or am I doing something wrong?  What am I missing?
Thanks for much for your help

First of activate Speech & Dictation from System Preferences, you will be offered a warning!  If you do activate Speech & Dictation then open the Reminders app, place your cursor in the list on the right, tap the fn key twice then say what you want... Call mother 29th of September at 4 PM press fn key once to finish.
Note: the fn key is the default activation key but it can be changed to suit your needs.

  • Bug in new reminders app on ipad

When I type past the bottom of the notes box on the new reminders app, it jumps back up to the top and will not let me scroll back down. Why is it doing this? It works fine on my iphone 4.

Did you ever find a fix for this?  Seems to still be around in IOS 6

  • IOS 5 Reminders App Bug

I would like to report a bug with the Reminders app on iOS 5.1. I had this issue on iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1, but thought it should be fixed by now.
Here are the steps I take and what happens:
I create a new reminder, let's say "Pick up stuff from locker" on a certain day at 3 PM, and set it to remind me every day until I do it.
It reminds me every day at the right time, with no problems.
I finally get the reminder done, and pick up stuff from my locker. I then open the Reminders app.
I check the checkbox next to "Pick up stuff from locker", and wait a few seconds.
The reminder stays on the Reminders page. I swipe to the right to reveal the Completed page, and I see "Pick up stuff from locker" there.
I swipe back to the Reminders page, and STILL, the reminder "Pick up stuff from locker" is there, and this time it's unchecked.
I repeat steps (4) to (6) with no end in sight. At this point, I have duplicates of "Pick up stuff from locker" in the Completed page, but the reminder still will not disappear from the Reminders page. It's not until I actually have to manually delete all the duplcates AND the original reminder from the Reminders page do I see things go back to normal.
I think this is a serious bug, and I would like to see it finally fixed in the near future.

FYI, Apple doesn't read these posts.  You can give them your feedback & suggestions here:
