Reminders duplicate or don't acknowledge edits

I'll add a task to Reminders. When I oepn the app again though, its there twice. If I delete one of the Reminders, both disappear.
Also, sometimes I edit the date and time of a reminder and save it, but when I look at the app again, it's reverted to the original date or time. Any idea what's happening and how I can fix it? Thanks!

I am also having this problem plus often the new one turns out to have overwritten an existing one and possibly duplicated at different times of day as well. This is driving me mad - I practically have to take a screenshot of my day's reminders before I risk adding a new one, so I can fix them after it messes up again. Can someone help please??

Contacts * Can I duplicate a card and then edit the info?

I have a client group to add to contacts; about a couple dozen people. There's many fields, sure, but in almost every case only the name, title, and email address change. It's a pain to have to do a new card every time and re-enter the information -- is there a way to duplicate the card and just edit the couple of items that need to be changed? I don't see any way to do this.

Sorry - I left something out. Check the "Company" box (step 2 below). Simple. Who would have thought?
1. Input the info that you will use in multiple cards 2. select "Company" box under the address. This gives priority to the company name rather than the individual. 3. Copy;Paste. You should now have a duplicate! 5. Edit the detail. 6. Copy; Paste. 7. Etc.
If it doesn't work its probably because you forgot to check the Company box.

I mounted my external hard drive to a pc and now I don't have edit or write permissions on my Mac (read only). How do I get them back without erasing the drive?

How do I get them back without erasing the drive and loosing my valuable work?

If you re-format it you will lose all the data on it!!!!! So make sure you have backed up the drive or moved all the data on it to another external HD or the internal HD on your iMac.

Duplicates in Stacks and other Editing in the Finder

I am a new Aperture 2 user and I am loving it so far!
What I am wondering is if there is a way to make duplicates in a stack show up in the finder? I have noticed that the only files in the finder are masters... is there a way to show the duplicates at least?
At the very least - I would like to be able to use some events as a screensaver or desktop. In sys prefrences, the album shows up, and all the edited photos appear as they should, but still - the duplicates are not there.
Do I need to un-stack the photo's to accomplish this?

Two things:
1- You can't show edited versions in the Finder because they don't exist outside of Aperture (unless you've created a TIFF file by using Dodge and burn or another plugin or editor). This is why it's a non-destructive editor: your adjustments are just sets of instructions saved in an xml file and applied on the fly by Aperture when you view the picture. The only thing you can see in the Finder are your masters. If you want to use edited versions you first need to export them.
2- The iLife browser only shows files for which Aperture has created a preview. Make sure the files you want to use as screensaver or desktop pic contain a preview (try dragging it to your desktop: if the preview is there you'll see a green + sign appear signifying it'll be copied. If no sign appears, you don't have a preview). You can set Preview generation in Aperture's preferences or generate them manually.
But I'm struggling with your definition of duplicates: what exactly do you mean by that? If you're talking about different versions of the same file (with varying settings), then they're called versions. In fact the entire Aperture workflow is based on versions, stacks and picks. Duplicates would be the exact same picture, without any changes.
Not trying to be snotty here btw, just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly!

Going round in circles with this one. Feeling like Friday afternoon.

CtrlE works fine.
Click on "POLICIES" spry tab
Click on EDIT PAGE
Highlights the correct editable region... hover confirms its an editable region.
Allows me to edit, no problem.
Then, on SAVE DRAFT or DONE returns ERROR: cannot edit or duplicate page. Reason: page does not contain any editable regions.
I just cant see why. Can anyone help please?

Reminders App - not syncing according to edit history?

Hi -
I am using an iPhone 4s (iOS 6.1.3) and I also use a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.4.
Since the most recent Mountain Lion update I did (which added the notification center to my laptop and the separate Reminders app - outside of iCal) - things have been a little wonky.
Mainly - I have several reminders I use on a daily basis (I don't use the repeat feature). For example: "Vitamin" set to go off 08/28 at 6am. Once I take my vitamin, I open Reminders (on my iPhone) and move the date to remind me on 08/29. Most of the day, this is what I do on my iPhone.
When I get home at night, as soon as I open my laptop, all the reminders pop up (many of them ones that I had already moved on my iPhone to the next day) and then I'll look at my phone and my laptop has overridden what I've done on the iphone. ie: if i manually moved the reminder on my iphone from 08/28 to 08/29, once i open my laptop, my iphone suddenly shows the reminder again on 08/28. I'm sure this is some type of iCloud issue (and I never go onto the actual icloud.com website) - but I blame my laptop - because that update is when the problem started happening.
It's driving me nuts & is definitely not aiding productivity. Halp? Thanks in advance.
ps: i should note that if i add a NEW task from my iphone, it syncs perfectly to my laptop. so they are definitely talking to each other & "syncing" but my laptop is beating my iphone into submission in overriding edited tasks.

The calendar history in iCloud, whatever it is, will remain even if you uncheck the setting on your Mac. The way calendars (and contacts) work with iCloud is that the actual calendar data resides on the iCloud server. Your Mac calendar simply subscribes to the data (called CalDAV). Unchecking the setting simply disconnects your Mac from the calendar on the iCloud server and rechecking the setting connects it again. You can check how much history is in your iCloud calendar by checking your calendar on icloud.com. That is a web-based view of what is on the server, it represents the data that would be restored when you check the setting again.
My iCloud calendar goes back to 2007 and I've unchecked, deleted, and rechecked the setting several times before. Everything was restored exactly the way it was before.
You can also create a local backup of each of your calendars before doing this if you're concerned. Just open Calendar, click on each of your calendars on the left sidebar and go to File>Export>Export and save the .ics file on your desktop.
But it's obviously up to you if you want to do this or not.

My IT department transferred images from my Blackberry to my Iphone, they are in "Photo library". there is 1500 images, many are duplicates and when I hit edit, delete is not an option. how do i delete the duplicate images?

In Photo library, when I hit edit the only avail options are share or add to. Please help, i dont want 1500 images on the phone.

Are they really duplicates or are you simply referring to the Photo Library?
Just as a song is in your itunes library and the exact same song can be accessed via a playlist, all synced photos are in the Photo Library and those exact same photos ( not duplicates) can be accessed from the chose folder/album.
You delete these pica the same way you put them there. The sync process. Deselect them in itunes and sync.

Raw file edited in Lightroom don't show edited in PSE

I have edited pictures taken in raw format in Lightroom, and imported them later in pse 7. When I import them, they are not edited, but the original file.
How do I make PSE read the edited information instead?

I tested it again, and I upgraded to LR 2.4 today, and it didn't create an .xmp file. I found this article which makes LR create an .xmp file. Now PSE can see the changes I've made in LR.
I tried to install Adobe Camera Raw 5.4, but got an error message "Photoshop Camera Raw (64bit), Can not install. Click cancel". I have camera raw 4.5 and I don't have a 64bit system. I can't find any 5.4 for 32bit system?
I didn't see any edits I had previously done in Lightroom in PSE's organizer, nor did the raw file have any modified timestamp.
I really like PSE organizer for tagging pictures so I find them easily, and I have gotten used to Lightroom for editing my files after I got more interested in taking pictures, LR is a lot easier to quickly modifying a lot of pictures compared to PSE where you have to open editor for each and every picture (making sure I can't be bothered fixing up the pics). So my workflow is to import to LR and modifying the pictures to my liking, and then importing them in PSE organizer for looking at them later. I don't use LR for looking at pictures later on. Is that an OK way of doing it, or is there an easier way?
Perhaps I should import as .DNG file to reduce the dependency on the .xmp file?

Logo Component - Design mode shows the edit component toolbar don't show "Edit" button

I just created a Logo component on my website following the CQ "How to create a Fully Featured Internet Website" guide.
I do create the logo component, edited the jsp page with the following code

Then, I created the tag "<cg:include>" in my jsp page, calling this jsp.
After all that, I created the Design Dialog for my logo component, then a "items" node under the tab1 node of the design dialog.
After this, finnaly, the widget node (absParent), under the items created before.
A lot of propertys later, I got my Logo object in the page, but the toolbar with the "Edit" button on Design mode don't show me the "Edit button"
Someone can tell me how to get the button there?
Is some property that I may have forgotten?

Basically, the edit toolbar has the same with as your component, which indeed is problematic for narrow components.
But you can work-around that with a basic CSS hack:

This seems to be fixed in CQ 5.5.

Duplicate TIFF files when using "Edit in PS CS5"

Hello there,
I'm using LR 4.3 and CS5, with ACR 6.7 installed. Whenever I'm using "Edit in PS CS5" comand inside LR, automatically I'm getting a duplicate TIFF file added to my LR catalog. How can I avoid this? Thank you for your time!

There are two basic behaviors regarding Lightroom and Camera Raw versioning:
If the Lightroom version and the Camera Raw version are equal (meaning LR 4.3 and ACR 7.3) Lightroom passes the image from LR to Photoshop using ACR to render the file. For optimal compatibility both LR and ACR should be kept in lock-step. Since the release of CS6, ACR 6.7 is the last version of ACR for CS5, so you lose some intigration and functionality by not upgrading to Photoshop CS6 and ACR 7.x.

Toshiba don't acknowledge that my Satellite exists!

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can help me, I bought a Toshiba Satellite nearly 3 years ago from a national computer store and am now finding that the battery is dying quickly, not a problem I thought, I'll just pop on the website and look up a replacement.
Unfortunately according to the serial number sticker, my laptop is a Satellite S2410-504, part number PS241E-5G7U9-EN. I've searched the website and have been unable to find it.
I've found similar models, I know that it is possible to search by part number as I entered the part number for a different Satellite and it brought up a match, but a search for my part number matches nothing!
I can't understand why Tosh don't recognise it, it is AFAIK a UK laptop that was bought from a large national company and so should be recognised by Tosh.
Does anyone know if I'm missing something or is my laptop really a one-off? :-) The main thing I'm interested in knowing is what type of batteries are acceptable to use in it!

Thanks for that, I've managed to discover that my laptop is some form of limited edition put out by Tosh, which would explain why I still think the spec is quite good even by today's standards, 3 years after I bought it. I wish they would list their limited editions on the site though, would make support a lot better!

Don't want edited images showing up in same folder as RAW images

As I go through my catalog of RAW images, I'll select an image (or more if I'm doing a pany/stacked), then use the "Edit in CS5" command. After I edit the photo and save in a new/different folder (usually as a .jpeg), the saved image will then show up in my RAW catalog, too.
I don't want this. I have made a catalog for RAW images, and it gets confusing when images show up in a catalog where I only expect RAW images. How do I stop edited images showing up in a catalog not intended for them?

I don't think you can do that. External Edit in LR is designed so that the result represents one further stage in the processing of your photo, so it will automatically added to your catalog, and stacked with the original, if you chose so.
For what you are looking for, try using export with a Postprocessing option of "Open in Photoshop". This will not add the result to your catalog, unless you've marked "Add to This catalog".

Address book issues - duplicates - accounts don't match

I have found duplicates entries for some of my address book entries, but not all.
As previously discussed in these forums, this turned out to be duplicates between the "On my Mac" and "iCloud" accounts. So I can deal with that.
However, upon looking at entries between these 2 accounts, I noticed that I have some entries in each account that are not present in the other account.
Here is a "made up" example to illustrate:
On My Mac
Johnny Appleseed
Jim Cogsworth
Bob Jones
Jason Smith
iCloud
Johnny Appleseed
Robert Blabla
Bob Jones
Amy Thomas
So from this example, I have:
2 contacts in both accounts: Johnny Appleseed & Bob Jones
2 contacts only "on my mac": Jim Cogsworth, Jason Smith
2 contact only in "iCloud": Robert Blabla, Amy Thomas
This is what I have found on my Mac, only it is far bigger than just a couple of contacts.
Is there any way to get the accounts in sync?
Or is there any way to move a contact from one account to another account?
Running 10.7.5 due to 3rd party software incompatibilites with Mt. Lion.

I think the TM restore would have been much quicker. I was under the assumption that everything was good on the Mac address book.
Not sure what happened since then. Did you read my post (at 2:01pm above) before things went wrong?
"Try this. Disable iCloud on your mac. Select to keep contacts on the computer when quiting. Verify address book contains all your contacts. If you don't have a backup such as TM, export address book contacts so you will have a backup.
Your address book should have been correct or you could have corrected the contacts then and you would have had the backup files exported if you didn't have or trust TM.
Go to the iCloud website and delete all contacts there.
At the iCloud website, you should have been able to select all addresses at one time and delete. That would have left no addresses in iCloud. Only addresses left should have been on your Mac from the last step.
Once done, go back and log into iCloud on your computer and merge the contacts. The website should now contain the addresses from your address book.
Unless something else was wrong and creating multiple contacts, the only addresses in iCloud would have been merged from what was in your address book on your computer.
I don't know what happened or where we went wrong. I'll check back in the morning if you post any other info.

Reminders: Getting Things Done (GTD)

Hello everyone!
I am a user of Reminder Applications like Omnifocus and Things for years now and these softwares are outstanding.
Yet something they fall short, for instance with the Location Reminder, Too Simplicity or Too Complex.
Why hasn't Apple looked into improving the Reminders to the Standards of Things 2 and Omnifocus? I mean one of the main reasons I have bought an iPhone is to use these softwares, it would make even more sense if Reminder is at that level.
Basically Omnifocus and Things have 1 great feature, which is they follow the Getting Things Done program by David Allen. And I really hope Reminder follows the same system and takes it to another level of Task Management.

ICal and reminders on Macbook don't sync with iCloud

Just now when iCal crashed on my MacBook Pro I realise that it hasn't been syncing with iCloud (lost al lot of appointments).
Any change made on my iPad, iPhone and on icloud.com syncs perfectly; even back to my macbook!
The rest on my laptop (notes, iWork apps, mail, contacts) all seem to work and sync perfectly with iCloud.
However iCal and Reminders made on my laptop just don't sync to iCloud!
The other way around works nicely (reminders and calendar appointments from iPad, iPhone and iCloud.com appear promptly on the macbook).
I have tried everything i could find (restarting computer, resetting icloud prefferences, log out and in from icloud, starting new calendar, checking icloud account). Nothing works...
Any change made from my macbook just doesnt make it to other devices. From other devices back to my mac do work.
On my macbook all calendars I have are in iCloud.
iCloud is active (with same login as for other devices)
Would be great if someone could help me with this one!

I have something similar and i will try to explain with my rusty english.
I have an ID on iCloud but i can't sync the iCal events.
On my mac there is everythign (appointment, notes birthdays and so on). On my iCloud there is nothing.
I suppose was something related with the old ID (one just for ichat, not one of the ID that you pay to receive extra services or a @me.com account).
Now, as soon as the icloud features was installed on my Macbook Air I signed a new ID and initially everything worked fine. Emails on Mail and contacts were syncronized properly but with the new ID. i did not check iCal account.
So i tried also with the old one (the ichat ID) and all was sync. So i realized that maybe Apple recognized same account or name and merge all the ID in just one.
I was wrong.
The 2 ID's are not linked.
further checks add also this new weird stuff. in any case i cant sync ical accounts. i tried to switch from one to another ID. no way. i checked preferences in iCal on the mac. everything is fine. no way.
do uu have any idea?
