Reminders in IOS5

I am puzzled over two things:
1. Why doesn't the reminders app in the iPad and iPhone offer me the chance to give a task a date and not a time (which it does in iCal)?
2. In the pull down notification centre the only remonders that appear are the ones that have a time and not the ones that don't. This doesn't seem to make sense.
Am I missing something somewhere here? And if so, can someone assist?

If you have ISO5 on your IPhone 4 then setting your reminder manualy as outline in my last post should work.
Press the plus and enter the new reminder.
Then tap on the arrow to the right of the reminder and enter the new field which will have a section called Remind Me with 'never' on the right next to an arrow.
Tap that arrow and enter the next field which will have options for 'on a day' and 'at a location'.
Turn the 'on a day' to on and the date and time will appear underneath it.
Tap on the Date and Time and the option to change both will appear.
Hope this helps

  • Can't see the "plus" sign on calendar and reminders after ios5 update

Since I have update my iphone 4 I can see the "+" sign on the calendar and also on the reminder app. Also when I go to settings and into mail / calendars the phone screen tends to freeze! I have restored the phone twice but that has not solved the problem.
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Was thinking if I want to redownload the ios5 update and reload / restore. Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Suggestion for improving battery life with Reminders in iOS5 on iPhone 4

I am experimenting with a location-based reminder, and once again the Location icon is permanently on and my battery is being drained. I'm not a programmer but I have a couple ideas:
Use the accelerometer in the phone to determine if it's moving, and then start looking for location.
Most people, when they're at work, are at work for several hours, so there's no benefit to polling for location while you're sitting at your desk. Perhaps the phone could learn your routine and know not to look for location between say, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Or you could have a setting to explicitly tell it not to poll during the week between certain hours.
This would make Reminders more useful. Also is there better battery management for this stuff on the 4S? Is that another benefit?
    Thanks!

  • To-do lists did not migrate to reminders in iOS5

What can I do to retrieve them?  I do have a backup.  Is it as simple as reverting the former calendar?

Seems to be different results for different people.
My sites have usually migrated automatically whenever I have upgraded. Others report the same outcome as you.
I've never traced the reasons for non-migration to a single root cause.

  • Reminders occurring when device is off

Could anyone else please confirm if this is their experience of Reminders in iOS5?
If the device is switched off when the time set for a reminder passes, I do not receive notification of the reminder when I next turn my device on.
This is happening on my 4S and iPad2.
For example,  at 1100, I set a reminder for 1125 today then turned off both devices.
I turned them on again at 1130 but did not receive any automatic notification of the reminder.
Is this the correct behaviour for the Reminder app?
It's contrary to what iCal reminders do. If a device is switched off when the reminder time occurs, the alert pops up next time the device is switched on.

I'm afraid this is not possible.

  • IOS5 Reminders Yahoo! Sync Creating Alpha/Numeric Dummy Lists

    Hi,
I'm using an iPhone4 (also an iPad2) that sync's with my Yahoo! account for mail, calendar and reminders.  The defalult "Reminders" list was created just fine and i'm able to sync with it reliably.  The problem is that either the Reminders app keeps creating these phantom dummy lists on the server.  The lists are very long alpha/numberic strings with hyphens, definitly not created by a person.  I have been syncing with Yahoo! for years now accross several devices, and theses lists never showed up until I upgraded to iOS5 on my devices.  I delete them all the time but after a few hours they just return.  Please help.
    Mike;

WHATEVER you do, do not delete these weird alphanumeric "remidners" in Yahoo.  I did that and suddenly, all of the content in my Yahoo calendar vanished.  But, worse that that, when my phone synced with yahoo, it erased all of my yahoo calendar data off of my phone too.  I'm stunned!  I was able to reload an iphone backup made (unlelievably) earlier in the day.  After the restore, I've put my phone in "airplane" mode to prevent it from being deleted by yahoo sync again.
I don't know what I'm going to do to recover my calendar!
At the very least, I'm going to do something I haven't done in a LONG time...get pen and paper and start copying all of the entries off of my phone before I turn off airplane mode again.
Argggghhhh!  I can't believe this is happening!

  • IOS5 app Reminders doesn't work in my iPhone 4

Hola. Tengo un iPhone 4 hace casi un año. Le actualicé el sistema a iOS 5 pero la aplicación Reminders no funciona. Si se ejecuta, pero no aparece el símbolo +  para añadir tareas.
Hi. I have an iPhone 4 almost a year ago. I upgrade the system to iOS5, but the app Reminders doesn't work properly. It opens, but the add task button doesn't appears, so I can't add the reminder note.

    Hi, Mari_MEL.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to connect to the App Store on your iPhone.  Here is the troubleshooting article that I would go through when experiencing this issue.
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update(iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clickingCheck for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guidefor your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.

  • IOS5 Reminders-iPhone has Location Service, iPad No?

    Hello all.
This is just to confirm, is there a difference between the Reminders app on the iPhone and on the iPad?
    On the iPhone
Can set reminder based on location. EG Leaving or Arriving at Current Location
Inside Location Services (Settings), Reminders is present
    On the iPad
Cannot set reminder based on location
Inside Location Services, Reminders is absent
    Thanks and cheers

    Hi.
    Yes it is.
Both Reminders on the iPhone and iPad gets sync.
But if location-based reminder is set on an iPhone, the same reminder just stays a reminder on the iPad, with no alarm anything.
The only difference is on iPad, you cannot set Location-based reminder.
Just check friend's iPad (iOS5) and his is the same - iPad's Reminders no location-based, so it's probably not a bug on mine.
You can check an iPad and find out.
    Cheers

  • How to add reminders on the new ios6? I don't have the plus (+)on the upper right as seen on ios5 to add reminder.

How to add reminders on the new ios6? I don't have the plus (+) on the upper right as seen on ios5 to add reminder.

Also, tap the lines at the top left and create a new list, that should give you the + back.

  • IOS5 Reminders not 2-way syncing back to Outlook

I've got IOS5 on my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. I have Outlook connected to Exchange on the PC. The iPhone and iPad are working great talking to the Exchange server. The new reminders flow down from the Outlook Tasks to the Reminders on the iPad and the iPhone.
However, the problem is that reminders created on the iPhone and the iPad DON'T flow / sync up to Outlook.
So, it's a one-way sync down from Exchange to the IOS5 devices and no sync back up to Exchange/Outlook.
    Ideas? What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    David

Sue, thank you for your response. I think I’ll have to give up on this as I can’t find any reference to syncing Reminders in iTunes, on my iPhone 4 (running iOS6.0.1) or on my PC (running Outlook 2007).
Just to clarify, on my iPhone, when I select/expand a Reminder, the option of “Show More”, just above the bottom “Delete” option, only changes to “Notes”.
I think the key here is that I don't use Exchange... it's only a simple home system at present. I'll look into it further. Again, thanks for your reply.
    Cheers.

  • My Setting, Contacts and reminders has stopped working.  I am on IOS5

Settings, reminders, contacts have stopped working.  settings opens but locks up.  Reminders and contacts open but there is nothing there.

  • IOS5 "Reminders" bug and general comments

I found a problem with the new app "Reminders" and the location (GPS) function... if you use "Restrictions" to avoid someone without security code to disable GPS then the reminders app won't allow you to add a location to the reminder that you are creating... and obviously i grant access to location service to the app reminders in the restrictions settings.
    Comments:
Notifications in the lock screen are great but they should be persistent... at this time if you have notifications and unlock the iPhone and then you lock it again whitout check the notifications the lock screen won't display any unreaded/unchecked notification it just clear the notifications but you may want to keep the information that you have not checked.
The notification scroll bar should show you information when you start scrolling down... at this time you have to complete scroll down the bar or at least the half of it to see any information

Can reminders have the capability to link them to contacts so with a push of a button the number is dialed, email generated or texted app opened; have active URLs embedded so if I want to go to a site, it will open Safari; or the map open on an address?
    No.

  • Calendar and reminders take forever to load with ios5

Since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to ios 5, my calendar and reminders take forever to load. Sometimes they crash rather than load. Any suggestions? This is extremely frustrating. By the time they load, I forget what I was going to write. Even once they open and I start entering data, they usually stall or crash during the time I am entering information (e.g. setting alerts), so it takes a very long time to enter each appointment or reminder. Help please!

I'm having the same issue.  Ay fixes?  Bought ATV today, music streams but videos don't and mirroring doesn't work either.  Start mirror and severe lag then just drops.  Been trying for couple hours. About ready to return it.

  • [ios5] [iPad2] no location based reminders

*** Why i cant create location based reminder on my ipad 2 It was the main feature for me in os5 and now seems it is not pissible. Csn someone help me with that??? Thanks

No I can see tonefox's point and that is probably why Apple left it off. It gives another incentive to buy the iphone. BUUUUUTTT three things.
    1. Like Hollowcorpse this is my calendar, filofax, etc. as a mobile office I need my reminders. The iPad was also advertised as a portable office sooo this would have to be included.
    2. It NEVER was indicated that it would not be included. This nefarious way and my belief that Apple left it off to make more money upsets me. I know Apple is no better than any other corporation but with the "be different" slogan and the culture that they have propogated it is disappointing.
    3. We paid good money (more than iphones) for our devices, why should we not get the benefits? If there are technical reasons that's a different matter. Hey, I'll even swallow a feature (siri) that would run and we don't get but it was  also never indicated that we would get it.
I understand tonefox that you are not disagreeing with us but trying to show the other side. But again I feel that Apple sold us the device also as a mobile office and touted the feature. In that case we should get it.
