Reminders showing weird characters when typing

When I type in a new reminder on icloud.com (I am using WIndows 7) all of the sudden I am seeing gibberish characters. They become fine when I hit enter or details or when reading something typed.. But as I am typing, they are just weird chaarcters.,. Anyone else have this issue? How can I fix?

I'll tell you whatever you want to hear but wouldn't you prefer hearing the truth?
Personally, I'd be more concerned about someone seeing what keys my finger depressed while entering the PW. The text on the keys is much larger and much easier to see than the text on the entry area. Bottom line is that I'd never enter any PW under any circumstances while someone else is watching.

Dialog title shows weird characters when losing focus

Hi all,
a localized application with two configured languages has problems with the title of a modal dialog. Opening the dialog works fine, the text is displayed properly. After klicking into the main screen (so the modal dialog loses the focus), some weird characters are displayed in the title (looks chinese). The buttons that are localized with the same resourcebundle stay normal. Does anybody know this problem?

More information:
This problem does not occur at all workstations. Some do not have this problem at all. But it's all on Windows XP SP 1.
Maybe a threading problem? I cannot imagine.........

You could just try changing your Input Sources under System Preferences>Language & Text:
But I kind of doubt that's going to work. It may be a hardware problem or a system problem. If you take it into Apple they might be able to determine which and might advise a reinstallation of System software. I would take it to an Apple Store or an AASP but, first, make sure that you have a backup just in case they suggest a clean install of the system.

Revolve 810 G1 Keyboard skips characters when typing

Hi all, Just got a brand new HP Revolve 810 G1 tablet/laptop (12GB memory 256GB SDD). Things are otherwise smooth, but there is extremely annoying problem of keyboard dropping / skipping / losing some of the characters when typing. It appears randomly, not any specific keys or combos. Up till now in this post it has skipped about 10 characters. It doesn't require fast typing, even in the Win 8 start-menu, when searching for an app and then hitting enter to start the app, it might not react on the enter press. This is just an example, letters are missing from anywhere where I type. I type quite fast and know that I am hitting the correct keys. Disabling the touchpad does not help, so it is not that I would accidentally touching it during typing. I have updated BIOS, restored OS to factory state (HP Full Recovery), switching to English OS localization, installed all Windows Updates - no help. This makes working a pain, it's not feasible to chat or type document when you have to backspace all the time to fix the mistakes that you did not make. HP Support Assistant is not finding any more updates, product number is H5F12EA#AK8,WIn 8 Pro 64-bit. I have installed a 8GB SODIMM under the back cover, replacing the included 4GB chip. Will run a memtest overnight. Anybody seeing the same?? tonttuz

If you have adjusted the keyboard speed properties, updated the drivers, and done all the usual, thenIt could be keylogger malware - run a deep scan and make sure you are the only watching what you typeIt could be another program slowing down the system and interfering with your input - check the Task Manager and look for "hogs" -- programs that are running with a high cpu / network / disk consumption and stealing resources.It could be hardware - the system is new, but its construction may not be flawless -- Call HP=====================================================================================It could be that the drivers, though updated, are not being read from disk - instead they may be tangled in the memory and not being read properly. You might consider, without any grand hopes of success, applying a Forced Reset: Forced Reset flushes out the persistant boot-to-boot software and driver instructions from memory and forces the system to go back to the disk to read the software and drivers from the disk Operating System. Forced Power Reset Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset The Power Reset cannot tell the difference between drivers - it does not analyze a driver or software program before applying it. Inspector Adjustments HUD show weird characters

My Aperture Version 3.2.1 all of a sudden shows weird characters in my inspector adjustments HUD. I.e. Instead of CropOperations I now read DGCrop Operations and the likes. It's ever more weired in the full screen retouch adjustments panel. There one can read wordings such as DGGNGSmoothing Operation and other crazy nomenclature.
The first time I experienced that I completely deinstalled my current Aperture version and reinstalled a fresh copy. Everything was fine for a day or two. However last night it came back out of the blue.
Does anyone have an idea what's happening here.

Do you perhaps have two Aperture installions - the old one with weird menus and the new installation, freshly installed from the App Store? Search with Spotlight for "Aperture". Your most recent Apterure should be the one installed in "Applications"; is the one you deleted still sitting in the Trash?
After force-quitting the new Aperture and opening again your Aperture Library could still be set to be opened with the older Aperture Version, if that were still there.
Where is that DGGNG string coming from?
searching with locate from the Terminal I found the string inside the Aperture.app package (and the iPhoto.app), as part of the localization strings of the "Geode.framework"

For some strange reason your Aperture seems to use the filename of the localization file instead of the strings defined inside the file? Are maybe the correct localization files missing in your Aperture version? Which country have you set in the "Language and Text" preference pane of the System Preferences? I did not see a localization file for "british english", eg.

Weird characters when generating WebHelp from a word document

Hello,
First of all, I'm using RoboHelp 6.
I've seen many posts about this subject, but none with the same version.
I've generated a WebHelp from a word document, that contains accentuated characters (french).
When viewing that help from my local machine, it's ok.
When viewing that help from a web server, it displays weird characters.
I'd like to change the encoding to UTF8, in my web help.
I've seen (if I understood well) that we could change the output charset when generating a web help, but only from the RoboHelp 7 version.
How can I do such a thing on RoboHelp 6 version ?
I've tried to add <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> in many htm files, without success.
Any ideas ?

Hide characters when typing password?

I cant find any option in my Nokia Lumia where I would be able to turn off character showing during entering a password (for signing on to appstore or any other app). I cant believe that Nokia, has yet to implement this!? Especially when you are sharing screen/streaming and it is so elementary and important...
Anyone knows about some app that can disable it?

Hmmmmm,.... where are you seeing this? Everywhere on my Lumia 930, the password is 'critick'ed' (by displaying bullets instead of characters, although you can see the actual typed in character for a second or two while you are actually typing it in).
If on a website, I believe this is the responsibility of the website code, not the browser. Apps should NEVER display complete passwords while they are being input.

Unable to login windows 8, password box shows weird characters

I have had this issue several times, reset or restoring doesn't help. Luckily I made a system Image after full installation allowing me to restore my computer with all applications and tooling but it is anoying.
What happens: After rebooting (at some moment in time after a new install) typing in the password or pin gives all sorts of strange characters so the password is never correct. Sometimes using the onscreen keyboard works. Once logged in I get the same issue
when I try to change the password. This seems to also happen in other password fields.
Am I contnouosly being Hi-Jacked, since I have RDP-port forwarded in my Firewall (hardware as well as Windows Firewall) or is this a bug?

Doubling of characters when typing

Hey all!
I'm new to Mac's and I have really appreciated all of the tips and advice I have gotten here in the discussion forums.
Here's my delima. I have had my 12" iBook for a couple of months now and I can't figure out any reason for this problem. Alot of times when I am typing I get some of the characters twice. I have gone to keyboard preferences and the repeat rates are fine, this doesn't seem to have anything to do with that...it's just a random doubling of characters sometimes.
Anyone else had this problem??

What version of OS X are you using? What did you last download/install before you noticed this problem? Heres what I have heard:
Some people in the past have said that it is caused by a corrupt system folder. To fix that you will need to create a new folder. First go to System Preferences - Accounts - Click the plus sign - Add info w/password - Log out and log into with new system folder. Hopefully that should do the trick.
Try that and we can go from there,

I get weird characters when I copy/paste from my pdf book

Everyone in my office has worked on a PDF book on their PCs. I got my hands on it and did an extensive overhaul on it, better details, graphics and whatnot.
I finally sent it out and they love the way it looks, but they cannot seem to copy correctly from it. It either gives weird off characters and numbers when one pastes or it gives off mis alinged parts of words.
I have tried taking all of the word documents and converting those on a PC and whatnot. I really dont know what to do anymore. I used preview on mac osx to build it with individual pages and it gave me the horrible paste characters. I put it together on windows, i have no idea what is wrong. I am thinking its my word 2008, but I exported a document with word 2000 (which the original books were made in) and its still doing it. I need some help please.

Yes actually, I had just started to come under that same conclusion. But its extremely weird, because I cannot seem to copy and paste some files within OSX itself. Im trying to test out a few things on my work PC, one file gave nothing but ____ __ __ underscores when you pasted, and I converted it from Calibri to Arial on my PC and now it copies correctly (minus some alignment issues)
Im just really worried, since its been hit and misses right now. I just need it to work correctly

Wrong letter shows on screen, when typing, over and over.

I have a Pentium 4 tower. I'm using Windows 7. Today, when I type an email address, the @ will not show. Instead, the quotation mark " shows in its place. Tried the Control and Shift suggestion, but no luck. I have done nothing to my computer recently. Made no changes to cause this. Would sure appreciate a fix-it, fast.
O.K.....now I can't post this until I "choose a board". Can't seem to be able to do that. No matter what I click on, I get the pop-up and bleep alarm, asking me if I'm sure I want to leave this page. Seems like I've just wasted a lot of time. : (

I have the exact same issue.
I've had my MacBook Air since June 2011, and just noticed this white mark after recently having the machine serviced by Apple Techs. (mainboard replaced due to frequent freezing).
Nothing new to add, your description matches mine, let me know if you've had luck getting it replaced. I can't see it when I view my screen straight on or "optimally".

Double characters when typing in Safari Browse

I'm using the Safari browser, but when i type f.ex an A it responds with AA.
I only have this problem in the Safari Browser. Is there a fix for this ?

The problem you described sounds reminiscent of a problem many MacBook, MacBook Pro and even PowerBook G4 users have been experiencing. If you do a Discussions-wide search for the phrase "first key" in quotation marks, you'll get an idea of how wide-spread the problem is. Apple recently released a firmware update for the MacBook and MacBook Pros, but reports of first-key-unrecognition persists.
While I hope your problem isn't of this variety, the point I'm trying to illustrate is that if it is, Apple has yet to pin down a proper fix for it. Until they do though, perhaps some workarounds you can try are banging on a modifier key before typing anything, or clicking twice to ensure focus has been given to a window element and not just the window.

Very weird glitch when typing "fi"

When I type "fi" the two letters become as one. As in, I can't select just the "f" or just the "i." It only selects them both at the same time (although I can delete them separately with a backspace). This doesn't happen with capital letters or with any other two letter combinations I've tried. It also seems to happen only in Apple-made applications (Safari, Mail, Spotlight, etc) except iTunes and the Dashboard. This isn't a big problem...it's just odd and I was wondering if anybody had any clue.

Why do I see weird characters when I run javac?

Here is what I received at my window cmd when I do, javac

It apparently compiled successfully though. I can run below with the correct output:
C:\java>java MortgageWindow

You must have installed a non-English language version of the JDK (Japanese?) or have configured javac to print the messages in a different language... but you are running it on a system that does not support that language.
