Reminders won't stay set, say null or disappear

I am unable to get reminder app to work right anymore. As soon as I set a reminder the time date set either disappear or say (null) immediately. I have followed suggestions I have read on here and tried many things I hoped would work. Is anyone else still having this problem, I welcome any suggestions new or old, at this point I will try anything. (I have tried with and without  icloud turned on), it does it either way. Thanks in advance for any replies.

it keeps reverting back to New York time and won't stay on eastern time
ahh..... New York is in the Eastern Time Zone so they ARE the same!

  • Fill setting won't stay set in CS5

When I use either the pencil tool or the brush tool, I cannot get the fill color to stay set. In other words, first I set the line color and then the fill color. Then I select the pencil or the brush tool. As I use the tool, both settings remain as I set them (i.e., the colors I have set), but as soon as the line is complete, the fill reverts to "no fill" (and there is no fill in the drawn image). I have tried doing this a dozen different ways (in the contol panel, in the appearances panel, etc.)....there does not seem to be any way to set the fill color for the line that WILL BE drawn. (I can go back and assign a fill after it has been drawn.) I have even created a "style" which includes a line color and a fill color. I select the style. Then I try to draw with the pencil or brush and when I do so, the style vanishes and I have no fill in my drawing. I have also tried trashing the preferences file. (This is not a problem with the pen tool, nor the rectangle tool etc.) Help!

In the Tool Panel double click on the pencil or brush tool to open the Options window, and select Fill new pencil (or brush) strokes.

  • Reminders won't stay in date view

Ever since upgrading to 10.8.2, Reminders refuses to stay in date view.  I can select reminders for a particular day on the calendar, as I could previously, but then it very quickly and spontaneously reverts to list view (which is in itself useless, as you can't sort by date there), even if I'm in the middle of modifying a reminder.  I suspect iCloud syncing triggers list view.
    Any thoughts?

My wife and I have the same problem. Our temporary solution is to Turn Wi-Fi Off (assuming you're on a computer that only connects to the internet over Wi-Fi) while making any significant changes to the Reminders.
It appears as though we're constantly being interupted (date window and name field closing) because it's trying to sync in the middle of typing and my wife types fast and she can't beat it.
This is definantly an Apple problem that needs to be resolved.

  • Calenders & Reminders won't finish setting up

Every time I open the iCloud tab in my System Preferences, the "Calenders & Reminders" checkbox gets greyed out and it starts loading, displaying the "Setting up..." message while it goes.
I've left this thing running for hours and it never finishes. Unfortunately, this often renders iCal useless as I get a popup that says:
Access to account "iCloud" is not permitted.
    The server responded:
    "403"
    to operation CalDAVMigrateToServerQueueableOperation.
That prompt remains up no matter how many times I try to click "OK" and causes me to have to Force Quit iCal.
Anybody have any idea what I need to do?
    I'm running OS 10.8.5.

They probably overlooked the need given that the installation instructions say:

That may be the case, but the error that's displayed is just plain incorrect and therefore misleading so I can't be expected to figure out what really is causing the problem - unfortunately, I failed O'level Clairvoyancy

  • My settings won't stay set as I set them in preferences pane os maverick . Can someone please help me.

Can anyone help me resolve a problem I've been having . When I open preference pane & set my personal settings ,i.e Dock settings ,display settings to the way I prefer it's fine while I'm using computer but when I shut down & the next day I start up the settings are back to where they were before I went near them .
This problem is really annoying as the idea with the preference pane is for my particular preference . Please can somebody help me resolve this very annoying problem , After all it is a MacBook Pro running the latest software . Thank you .

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box markedAllow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use  another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.

Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.

  • MTU won't stay set to Jumbo (9000)

In the Advanced Ethernet setup, whenever I configure it to:
    Configure: Manually
    Speed: 1000baseT
    Duplex: full-duplex, flow-control
    MTU: Custom (9000)
After I save preferences several times as I close down the windows, whenever I open up the preferences again the last line has reverted to:
    MTU: Standard (1500)
I can program anything up to 9000 (7000, even 8999) and it remembers it fine. But if I enter in 9000 it resets it to 1500. Occasionally it will say "Jumbo (9000)", but if I close it after it's said that and open it again, it's back to "Standard (1500)".
This is ridiculous. Does anyone know what's causing this? I don't have any network optimizers running (as someone suggested in a similar thread) - it's a plain vanilla 2.4GHz iMac.
Can I force it in a config file somewhere? Does anyone know where this setting is stored?
    Cheers...

  • Finder View options won't stay set 10.7.2

Finder view options need resetting each time i log out or restart. How can i make them permanent?
Finder window has no locational or size memory, reverting to a default size and position on start up?
Any ideas how to fix this greatly appreciated

I finally know what causes folders to lose their view settings - even if you have set them to "Always open in..." a particular view (but I do not know how to fix it).
The trigger is setting any window to "column" view. Try it.
    (1) Create a new folder, and set it to your preferred view (but not column view). Close the folder and re-open it to verify that it is in the view you have set. You can even set it to "Always open in..." that view, if you like (it doesn't matter).
    (2) Now open up any other finder window or folder, and switch it to column view. If it is already in column view, switch it to some other view and then back to column view.
    (3) Now go back to the folder you created in step 1 and open it. Presto: column view. (Aargh!)
I confirmed this with a helpful and sympathetic Apple support staffer at the Genius Bar in my local Apple Store. Unfortunately, he had no solution, but noted it as an apparent bug in the 10.7 finder.
This is an extremely reliable behavior, that I have confirmed on 5 different machines all running 10.7.2. It is also an extremely frustrating behavior that I hope Apple fixes soon.

  • Finder View options, won't stay set after restart or log out

I like to have my application and utility folders (in the finder side bar) open in icon view and arranged by name and my Home and Movies folder open in list view with files arranged by name.
Each time i log out of my computor or restart the view options i have mentioned are reset, which is extreamly frustrating.
I have also noticed that the finder window now opens in a small size in the middle of the screen rather than being aligned to the left hand side as like to have it set.
This problem has only occoured recently, i think after deleting some "relic" files using Cleanapp.
Any ideas on how i can sort this out greatly appreciated

Anyone seen this type of behavior or know how to fix?
    Thaks in advance for assistance....

    Tony,
Have you reviewed the on-logon DB triggers?
The fact that you can see the hidden parameter in v$parameter means that someone/something sets it up (as opposed to using the default).
Since the value is not the one you have in the spfile, then there might be some other place it gets reverted to "OFF".
    Hope that help,

  • Color management setting wont stay set?

Running Acrobat Pro 9.4.1 in conjunction with CS5 Design Premium. Not only does the color management setting in Acrobat not change when set and synced from Bridge. The setting wont stick when set directly in Acrobat. Does anybody have a similar issue or a solution? I run Europe prepress 3 in bridge which has no effect on Acrobat but if I select Europe prepress 3 directly in Acrobat it will stay on that setting until I quit Acrobat then when re-launched it will be set to Europe Prepress 2! Any help or explanation much appreciated.

Guys I appreciate your help but nothing is working.
I tried deleting the preferences file and the same thing happened again anyway.
I then uninstalled the whole Creative Suite and deleted all files associated with it and all entries in the Windows Registry related to it.
I then reinstalled everything ( spending the hours it took) and it is doing the same thing again. I can not think of anything that has changed on the machine at all and I have never had this happen before in the years I have been using Premiere.
Everything used to work fine and Captures would go without a hitch even if they took hours as long as the Preferences were set to “None” on Device Control. But now it just won’t stay set, even after reinstalling everything. The Capture Window Device Control will stay set to “none” but not Preferences regardless of what I do.
I tried changing other Preference Settings and they stay changed but not device control. And it is the same regardless of whether the ADVC-300 is on or off. I even tried deactivating the Firewire Port in the Bios just to see what would happen and it made no difference.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
My last option is to reformat my drive and reinstall everything from scratch but that will take me a day and a half.
I can not understand what is making it do this when it never did it before.
Here is what I am using:
Premiere Pro CS4 with a Canopus ADVC-300 Capture Box. It is installed via Firewire and goes to the Firewire  Port on the Motherboard.
I am using XP Home SP3 on a Core I7 Computer with an Asus motherboard.
If no one has any ideas do me one favor. Go into your own Preferences file and set Device Control to “None”, close the panel and open it again to see if it is still set to none.
It may help me feel a little better about reinstalling all my software and spending the day and a half doing it if I know it is something with my machine and not the program itself.

I am using Premiere CS4 with a Canopus ADVC-300 capture device.
I have used this for years and never had a problem with Premiere providing  I set Device Control to “none” both in the Preferences and the capture window.
My problem is I can’t get the Device Control in the Preferences box to stay set to “None” any longer. I can set it and then close the window and check back and it insists on going back to the “DV/HDV” setting.  I have changed it to none at least a dozen times and it keeps setting itself back to “DV/HDV”.
This crashes the capture every time.
Any ideas on how to get it to stay where I set it?
It stays set to “none” in the capture window but I can not make the preferences menu do the same.
I can reinstall the program but that is a last resort due to the time it takes.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Songs won't stay on iPad

I just got the new iPad (3rd gen) and I'm about to lose my mind. I'm trying to sync it with iTunes (ver 10.6 and Windows 7) and my songs won't stay on the iPad. Neither will the album artwork. I originally had it on auto sync, but that put it in a continual sync cycle. It wouldn't stop syncing. So then I set it to manual sync and I can get songs on the iPad, but they won't stay there. They'll disappear while the iPad is still plugged in. I'll be looking right at the iPad, and one second the songs are there, the next, a whole bunch have disappeared (not ALL songs disappear). It seems that mostly songs that I have in my playlist disappear (but again, not ALL of them disappear!) All of the songs appear as if they're on the iPad because they'll show up on my computer (under Devices), but if I look at my iPad they're not there (and neither is the artwork, even though I checked off "download album artwork"). I also have all songs checked, so they should all be syncing but they're not. I just ran a diagnostics through iTunes and all tests were passed. For the past two days I've tried every combination of checking and unchecking different options. This was NEVER this difficult when I had my iPod! Someone help before I chuck this thing out the window!!!!!!

That should not be happening and it sure sounds as though you are doing what you should be doing so before you chuck the thing out the window .... give me your address and enough time to get to where you live and I will stand outside your window and catch the iPad on the way down .... or you can try this.
Start all over again. Quit iTunes, restart your computer and restart the iPad. See if that makes a difference.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Another thing to try is to unsync all music - uncheck the sync music headng and sync with iTunes to remove all of it - then check the heading again and sync and see if that works.
