Remote access anywhere - not working

I am new to servers and found the SBS/essentials 2012 very fascinated. I have been trying to configure this thing for the pass two days to get the remote anywhere access working. I am running on a virtual box using a netpro boeing 300 router.
things i have done:
1. configure tcp port to 443, 3389 for RDP, 1723 for VPN and 80 for http. - should i configure something else on the router
2. am i missing an interface between my router and the internet, machine (server) and internet or server and router?
3. i was able to setup the domain name by creating a certificate (self-signed certified)
however, when i try to configure the application it keeps jamming/stalling/cycling at the VPN option.
i would love to have this area of my life normalized, so i seek some help...step by step process to setup the access.
when i click the configure option it takes me to a screen that allows me to manually configure as the domain was already done. however i get the option to do VPN and remote desktop. and no matter what i try the page was just keeps running.
HELP in configuring and getting this to WORK

Hi,
Please have a check if your server has a pending reboot. If so, could you please reboot the server and try again?
If it still happens, would you mind upload the logs (c:\programdata\microsoft\windows server\logs) to somewhere and let's have an investigation?

  • Remote access vpn not working, VPNC client

                       Hi,
I have configured a remote access vpn client on cisco ASA 5520 with the following configuration. we are using cisco vpn client.
    tunnel-group consultant type remote-access
    tunnel-group consultant general-attributes
    address-pool VPN
    authentication-server-group RSA-AAA LOCAL
    default-group-policy consultant
    tunnel-group consultant ipsec-attributes

    group-policy consultant attributes
    vpn-idle-timeout 120

    split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified
    split-tunnel-network-list value access-spilt
    access-list access-spilt standard permit host 10.101.50.60
One of the linux users is using vpnc and once the user connects to the vpn and the user adds a static route on the machine with the destination pointing to the vpn interface, for example 10.101.50.0/24, user is able to reach all the hosts in the subnet even though the access list on the firewall is configured for one host 10.101.50.60.
I did the same test on a windows machine, but was only able to reach the specific host allowed through vpn.  why is the network filter not working for vpnc. please advise.
    Thanks

  • Remote Access Media Not Working correctly

I just installed the newly released Media Plugin for Essentials Server 2012 R2. I was really hoping this would solve the problems I had with first version of Essentials 2012. The media worked fine on Windows Home Server 2011, but I've never been able to
access the folders successfully since installing the new version last year.
I get the above error when I try and access my pictures folder and an empty video folder. This was the same error I had in the previous version. There are raw formatted pictures in this folder that I'm just archiving, but I'm not sure if that would cause
    the issue or not.
This is the error I receive when I try to access my Music. I only put in four folders with music and I can see the folders if I access them via the shared folders interface, but I was hoping to stream the music and not download the files. I then simply put
some mp3 files in the folder, but those were not seen either.
I know others had issues with the last version and at one time the "marked answer" was weird files in the folders, but no clarification was given. Are there any ideas out there on how to set this up properly? I'd really love to have this feature
work. It's probably the feature I miss most from Windows Home Server 2011.

I didn't notice any errors in the log. I will post it below. I restarted the service and it is running.
I'd love to get this working:

  • Remote video streaming not working with Windows Server Essentials Media Pack

I installed Server Essentials Media Pack and the video streaming via remote access does not seem to be working. I see all the video files on the server's remotewebaccess page in "Media Library" group. When I try to play the video in Chrome
the player appears for a brief moment, but then the browser starts downloading the entire file. With Internet Explorer the empty browser window opens and the download starts. I am trying it while outside of my local network. The video streaming used to work
with Server 2012 Esesentials. Am I missing some additional codecs or remote streaming is no longer supported?

    Hi,
What’s the default player for these media files on your computer? The issue may be caused by the default player could not load the media file correctly. Please make sure Windows Media Player
with full codec installed is the default one. And then check if the media streaming feature could work as normal. Here is an article about how to configure the media streaming feature, hope it helps.

  • Remote DVR will not work?

I signed up for FIOS when it first came to my area. Verizon installed a basic Netgear router. I since upgraded to a wireless Netgear router about 4 years ago. We just upgraded our DVR to a Home Media and tried to turn on the remote DVR. But when I go to the web site it says remote DVR will not work without original Verizon router. I don't understand why it won't work. Is there a setting or something in the router to make it work or do I need a different router that Verizon has to provide? I am guessing the original router I had wouldn't work either because it is the same brand as the one I have now.

Called and got a Westell router today. Got it all hooked up and internet and TV are working fine but I still can't activate remote DVR. The DVR has an access code listed, tells me to go to the website and sign in with my verizon.net id. I do and I still get the error remote DVR not possible with third party router. Any more help?

  • Alternate Access Mapping not working for Zone : Intranet

One of our client want to set Alternate Access Mappint (intranet) with url "intranet.theirDomain.com" with local IP address.
    is it possible?
subsequest to my previous question (
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/3f39711e-301a-40e8-aa7a-855fa2c268b1/alternate-access-mapping-not-working?forum=sharepointadmin )
I want to ask one more question
Can we configure "intranet.theirDomain.com" with local IP address for any other zone?
    or
If there is ".com" within the url then it can't be configured for InTRAnet?
    Thanks
    S H A J A N

The names for the zones don't matter. You could use the 'extranet' zone for another intranet name if you wanted, the names are just to make it a bit more friendly for beginners.
What you describe sounds routine, you create a web application with a name, then use an AAM to allow users to access it with a more friendly name. Frequently you end up creating
    http://intranet.domain.com and
http://intranet as an AAM, or vice versa.
You can use .com for an intranet site, you would need to add the site as an A Host record in your DNS server so that traffic is sent to your internal server rather than out into the wider world.

  • Another FPN Thread: Remote role assignment not working

    Hi all,
We have successfully implemented FPN for use in our ESS and BW environment and we are experiencing very little problems with it. We now want to start implementing it for our eRecruitment and SRM systems (as producers). For some reason we are not able to use the Remote Role Assignement functionality.
We have set up trust for the systems and use SSO.
Connection test for the producer is successfull.
We can see the Producer content in the pcd on the consumer.
    Server times are the same.
As far as I know I have correctly set permissions on producer and consumer.
Possible cause: We are in the process of upgrading our consumer Portal to NW 7.0 SPS15 and have encountered some problems. The system is partially upgraded, so some components are SP15 and some others are still SP13. This is currently under investigation by SAP. Can this be an issue as our producer portals all are still on SP13?
I hope to hear from you soon. Please ask if you need any screenshots. Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Jan Laros

    Hi Jan,
if remote role assignment not works, you can also use remote delta links. I only work with remote delta links because i have more options   and a better performance.
If your connection works you can go to Content Administration ->Portal Content-> NetWeaver-Content-Producer. Hier you can see your remote system. Now you can copy the role and add it to your portal-content.
If you can not see the content make sure that you have the same user  on both sides also check the premissions on the portal-content of your remote system. To test the connection it is easier to add Everyone group to the content of your remote system.
    regards,
    Sharam

  • Remote Server Admin not working from outside of network for 1 server

Our company recently changed ISPs and I had to change our two 10.4 server's IP addresses. We have a mail server (intel xserve) and a file/web server (quicksilver g4). Both servers have two network cards in them. The problem is two-fold:
1- I can successfully manage the Xserve machine locally on our network and from my home. However, I can only manage the Quicksilver g4 server locally. Any kind of external access is not even acknowledged.
2- I'm not sure if I missed any steps when changing IP addresses for these server-based computers. Also, I'm not sure if I correctly set our dns names to the correct IP address.
For some background, this is the exact IP update process I used for each server:
Quicksilver G4 (file/web server) - Installed network card #2 and configured it with the new Public IP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. In Server Admin I set our website to use the new public IP address. (network card #2 has no firewall device in between it and the internet.)
Then, I configured the default network card #1 to a static, yet private IP address that's behind our DLink firewall device with the rest of our network.
Intel Xserve (e-mail server) - Network card #1 was the only one setup before our network change. It had a static, public IP address. When we changed ISPs, I configured network card #2 to the new static, public IP address supplied to us by the new ISP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. This new IP address is where all email traffic currently gets pointed to. (All mail is successfully sent and delivered.) Until our former ISP gets shutdown, I still have network card #1 configured to the older static public IP address. After the old ISP is shut off, I plan on changing network card #1 to a static, private address.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

What should I check in AD?  I am by no means an expert with AD.
Yes, I am using the same client OS.
I am talking about RDP over the internet, like from home to the office.  We have a static IP assigned to the router from ISP.  A static internal IP assigned to the server on the LAN.  And the router port forwards 3389 to the assigned IP.
It was working fine before we reinstalled Server 2012.  These are the steps I took when reinstalling:
    1. format drive and install OS
    2. rename the server
    3. install SQL server
    4. Install TFS and SharePoint
    5. Add Active Directory role and promote to Domain Controller
    6. Add domain users
    7. Enable remote access on the server and add users to remote access list

  • Remote Desktop Connection not working

I am able to remote desktop connect to my home computer from work; however, I can't remote desktop connect to my work comptuer and server. I believed it has something to do with my Linksys E3000 access point settings but I'm not sure where to look for and verify. I took my home laptop to work and able to do remote desktop connect to the server. I also took a laptop that's working fine with remote desktop connect to the server home and tried to remote desktop connect to the server at work and it's not working. Therefore, I've concluded that it has something to do with the access point and not the settings in the computer because it works fine when I took it out of my home network. I also VPNP in to my work place so that it has the same IP address as at work and still, remote desktop connection from home to work is not working. Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Connecting from home to your remote desktop server has nothing to do with your router. Certain ports are needed to be opened from the server’s end in order to host an application. I think my above statement answers your question of "Try to connect your computer to your modem or to another wireless network just to check if your work’s remote desktop will work." However, your statement prompts me think of something else. What I have tried is bring my laptop to work and tried connect via RDC to the server and it works but it just not working when trying at home. What I have not done is instead of brining my laptop to work and try RDC there, perhaps I should I try it on a friend's or relative's network and see if I can do RDC to my server at work. If this does not work as well, then, could it be that at work there is something something outside RDC coming? But even if this is so, why can't VPN work?

    Hi,
    Thank you for the post.
As far as I understand, ISATAP is not recommended for use as the IPv6 to IPv4 transition technology in DirectAccess in Windows Server 2012. With ISATAP disabled DirectAccess clients can initiate connections to computers
on the internal network, and the computers on the internal network are able to respond. However, computers on the internal network will not be able to initiate connections to DirectAccess for purposes of remote client management. If you want to be able to
remote client management, consider deploying native IPv6 for management servers that will connect to DirectAccess client computers.

  • Keychain access application not working.

keychain not working, click on the generic app. icon and it simply pops up and closes. reloaded osx10.4.3, but no results. anyone have suggestions?
    powerbook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Next step is to create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem remains. If not, then it's a problem with the original account. If so, then the problem's system-wide.
If the original account, you have two options: 1) try to find the corrupted file, maybe the com.apple.keychainaccess.plist file in ~/Library/Preferences/. Move it to the desktop, log out and back in, relaunch Keychain Access. If that doesn't work, then check all the .plist files with something like Preferential Treatment. 2) reset your prefs in the new account and eventually delete the original.
If system-wide, then reinstalling the OS using the Archive & Install option, saving user and network settings, might be your only option, especially since reinstalling the combo update didn't fix the problem.

  • Satego x200-21u - Remote and HDMI not work on Windows 7

    Hey
I have a problem with win7 and the remote that was delivered with my notebook when i bought it
I installed all drivers from the toshiba homepage for win7. I also installed some of the winvista driver, like the webcam- and the touchpad drivers.
The only two things, not working are the remote and the HDMI-Sound output.
my remote doesnt work with win7. and if i connect my notebook to my flat-tv via HDMI-Cable i only see the picture but hear no sound.
I changed also the settings in the soundoptions in win7 from default to Digitalaudio (HDMI) but it doesnt work anyways..
can someone tell me which drivers i need to install these two or what i have to do, to make my remote and the HDMI output work?
    thanks alot

    Hi mate,
This is really strange to say because this notebook is a little bit older and therefore there is no official Windows 7 support I think...
Do you have yellow exclamation marks in device manager at the moment?
For HDMI I think chipset, display and sound driver should be installed. Maybe you can get one on the Intel page directly.
Make also sure that the newest BIOS version is installed on your notebook.
