Remote access terminal server & VOIP phone issues

I pose a question to the community. I work and manage a building that remotely accesses a terminal services server for my users to view an ERP application at our other building. Lately we have issues where those users when the let their screen idle lose their connection and have to wait with a customer on the line to reconnect to the Terminal Server. We don't have the server set to boot users off after any amount of time and the users at the other building have no issue of course since its on site. We also have a Mitel VOIP system and on regular occasion the calls go static or drop all together. Ive done trace routes from the router at both buildings and it seems to get stuck at a Level3 datacenter in Washington DC. Ive contacted my ISP's NOC asking for them to contact Level3 to look into the issue, but the responder gave me grief and...

Having them both kills being able to access the Net.Take out the gateway on your loopback adapter and network traffic should happen as normal :)
Is this configured only in TNSNAMES.ORA, and if so how? It's configured in listener.ora, but changing the port won't change the amount of traffic nor the Oracle load, it will just make everything slightly more confusing to everyone trying to help you troubleshoot your machine ;)

  • Users can only connect to RD farm website and cannot remote into terminal server , when connected via VPN

    Hello,
I have a RD farm using 3 Win 2012 servers (1 broker and 2 session host), for internal use only, have not
    configured gateway for internet access.
Users are able to connect to RD farm website and remote into terminal server, within office
but can only connect to RD farm website and cannot remote into terminal server , when connected via VPN
Its takes long time at securing connection and fails.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
First of all I would suggest you to configure RD gateway role on your server and pass all the connection through it because it’s a best practice to use RD Gateway in RDS Farm.
Apart from this, if you are not using RD Gateway then you must check that you have successfully forwarded port 3389 for RDS to access via VPN. Also check that you have made configuration under IIS Manager to enable Forms Authentication. Please check
    this link.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 Remote Access IP/Sec VPN Connectivity Issues

We have a Cisco ASA that we use just for Remote Access VPN. It uses UDP and was working fine for about 2 months. Recently clients have had intermittent issues when connecting from home. The following message is display by the Cisco VPN Client :
"Secure VPN connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding"
Upon looking at a client side packet capture, I notice that no response is being given back to the client for the udp packets sent to the ASA on udp 500. If I login to the ASA from the LAN and send a single ping FROM the ASA, then the client can connect without issue. I don't understand the significance of the needed outbound ping since ping is not used by the client to test if the ASA is alive.
Once again this is a remote access udp ip/sec VPN. I set most of it up with the VPN wizard and then backed up the config. The issue started happening at least a month after setup (maybe two) and I restored to the saved config just in-case, but the issue remains.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using IOS 831 and have tried 821 and 823 as one thread that I found recommended downgraded to 821.
    Thanks much,
    Justin

    Javier,
I logged into the ASA last time the VPN went down. I issued the following commands:
    debug crypto isakmp 190
    debug crypto ipsec 190
capture outside-cap interface outside match udp any any
I then used a remote access tool to access the client and tried to connect. I got absolutely nothing from debugging. So I issued the following command:
show capture outside | include 500
and also got nothing. So I issued the following command:
    ping 4.2.2.2
Upon which my normal deug messaged began to showup, so I issued the show capture outside command again and recieved the expected output below:

It would seem as if no traffic reached the ASA until some outbound traffic to an arbitrary public IP. In this case I sent an echo request to a public DNS server. It seems almost like a state-table issue although I don't know how ICMP ties in.
Once again, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • Remote Access (internet) to Time Capsule Issue

    Hi and tnxs for reading,
after having tried a lot of suggestions on the internet about how to make TC file sharing working remotely, I am writing here because I am still looking for a solution!!
I have my TC bridged via ethernet to my DSL router (given from my internet provider).
I am using for all my devices TC WiFi, for local network and internet.
I activated Back to my mac on TC and to my Mac.
I can see my TC files when connected on my local WiFi, however, if I connect to the internet through another network, although I can see my Time Capsule on the left column of my finder, if I click on it, the connection fails.
Maybe it notoworthy to say that on System Preferences, iCloud, back to My Mac, I have a note saying that in order to improve the network, i should use use port mapping or upnp. Now, I cannot activate upnp on my router, but I can do port mapping, as i am doing for video surveillance stuff or similar things. However, I have tried to open ports suggested in http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4907 but nothing at all...
    Please, help!!!
PS: I would like to remotely connect to my airport devices through Airport Utility but it is not working aswell, and I think it is due to the same issue.
I'd really appreciate to be helped in this issue.

Sorry with time differences this is going to take a while.
I am going to need to work through some of the scenario myself.. my main concern is that BTMM may simply not work with the TC in bridge.
When people run into trouble.. eg here. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3699096?start=0&tstart=0
Alot of the problems come from the TC being in bridge. If you cannot get the TC to be the main router.. due to the kind of setup you have, then direct access method to the TC is the only way to do it.
    5) The main thing I'd like to do is to have access to my TC HD from the internet.
That gives you what you mainly want at point 5.. access to the TC HD.
    1) I rebooted my computer after turning of my BTMM on airport express. I kept on on my TC and in my iCloud Setting.
So the TC is now the only item that has BTMM set??
But no luck?? You didn't give me a result.
    2) The brand of my modem is ELSAG DATAMAT, model ARGO55+, provided by FASTWEB internet provider (I need it to have internet).
I will look this up. Appears to be ikanos based adsl modem. But all the details are in other languages.. so it is hard for me to get exact details. Does it have dyndns client available of some sort? As this is essential if you don't have a static public IP.
    3) the msg "Chk your router setting to improve speed NAT-UPNP" is on my mac, in iCloud BTMM setting, and I got it in all these cases: a) connected to TC WiFi bridged to my router with 548 TCP open b) Personal Hotspot iPhone 3) US Robotics with UPNP plug&play activated.
So this means that in every case even with the iphone as hotspot.. so this is completely different to your ADSL internet connection BTMM still fails?? There is not one single configuration that works.
Perhaps you need to ring your local Apple support and see if they can figure this out. To me.. a single computer.. plugged into a modem directly.. of whatever kind, adsl or 3G or whatever.. that gets a public IP should be able to do BTMM.. but could apple be blocked in your country.
The exercise I did via the direct connection is to prove there is no block by ISP to actually connect to the TC.. which you said worked.. but there can be other blocks.
It could fail if your ISP gives you a private IP address.. same btw for the adsl connection.
You will need to check by doing a traceroute to say Google DNS server, 8.8.8.8 and see if you are connected via a private IP.. you cannot access a LAN from a double NAT which results.
    4) if I am not supposed to do configurations through the net, what is the reason to have a back to my mac iCloud setting available on my Airport Express which has no hard drives and the only feature associated with BTMM is remote configuration?
If you get remote access to change a configuration.. and you make the slightest mistake.. you will not be able to access it again until you get home. So I am unsure what configuration changes to your local lan at home you need to make from remote location. Remembering that a single wrong move will lock you out permanently.
Can you please explain why you need this??

  • Routing and Remote access can cause cluster network issues?

After enabling routing and remote access on the servers, we found lots of cluster issues on our server like<o:p></o:p>
    Cluster Service stopped
Communication was lost and reestablished between cluster nodes
    Unable to access witness resource

    Hi TwoR,
Please offer more information about your current cluster and RRAS configuration, such as are you installed the RRAS role on any cluster node? Are your cluster in Hyper-V environment?
Or if you want to create the RRAS cluster you can refer the following KB:

  • Virtualisation Remote Access and Server

    Guys,
    Question about licensing:
I have a Mac Lion 10.7.2 Server, so the questions are based around that but would like to know differences for other licenses or systems. This is being used in a corporate testing enviroment and we would like to increase its use by have multiple users/remote users.....but licensing looks an issue/complex.
There seem to be 2 licenses Mac OS X Server (Lion) licence and Mac OS X (Lion 10.7.2) licence? Does one superceed the other or do they run 'together' if you have Mac Lion 10.7.2 Server?
According to the 2nd (Lion 10.7.2) license you can run 2 virtual machines in addition the the running one. So this is 3 altogether? One being the main OS and the other 2 virtual. Are there anyways of running all 3 in a hypervisor (vmware Vsphere like?) and is this allowed under the license(s)? This also seems to be only for 'downloaded' and not pre-installed software.
Also in the 2nd (Lion 10.7.2) license it is possible to have Remote Desktop Connections. This is not mentioned in the first (server)  license?
Both licenses mention the you can use the OS "by multiple individuals on a single shared Mac Computer that you own or control." but then seem to limit this to one user at a time. Can you have multiple Remote (VNC) desktop with multiple users? If not with these licenses which can you use?
Can you point me to who to/how to ask about these?
    Thanks
    Ben

The ACLs appear to be working fine. I am passing IP traffic for all of the configured subnets with the exception of the remote access subnet. I have both ends of the tunnel configured with the RA subnet in the crypto map. I am not using reverse route injection. Actually I am not at all familiar with it. Do you think this is where I should start looking?
    Thanks

  • Remote access VPN on ASA5520 Ping Issues.

Hi I hope someone might be able to help me. I have setup a remote access VPN on an ASA 5520. The VPN client connects ok, accepts my username and password and then I am in. Hi Richard ,
    - we don't need access-list with RA connection , we have the dynamic map that acts as a template , so your crypto config :
crypto map mymap 1 ipsec-isakmp dynamic dmap
crypto map mymap 2 match address NONAT
crypto map mymap 2 set security-association lifetime seconds 28800
crypto map mymap 2 set security-association lifetime kilobytes 4608000
    crypto map mymap interface outside
map with seq 1 is being binded to the dynamic map , now map 2 you are using the nonat access list as the encryption trigger for this map , so this should not be there as it encrypt traffic from the inside subnet to the pool .
please remove the second entry, then test if not working please provide a capture from the inside interface .

  • Reader 10 Terminal Server 08 Font Issue

I upgraded from Adobe Reader 8 to Adobe Reader 10 on my 2008 Terminal Server and now the fonts print changed. Readable but not in the Arial font the document shows up in. This happens for all documents in Reader 10. This does not happen for other programs, only Reader 10. I use Easy Print (no specific printer drivers). Reader 10 on a local PC does not have this issue so I think its something with the way 10 and terminal server are playing. Is there a fix out for this issue or am I going to need to downgrade reader versions on my Terminal Servers?
    Thanks!!!

Can you please see if launching the Preferences window from within Adobe Reader standalone application works?

  • Remote management via Server app authentication issues

I am having issues with server app.  I can login to my home server if I choose the "other computer" option and input the IP address of the server and respective authentication information, but if I acutally choose server that appears in the "manage" screen, server.xxxxxx.private, the authentication fails.  Go figure.  I also had this issue when I when to bind our other computers to the server.
    What could cause this issue?

I figured it out!  I had to add the IP of the server as a DNS Server in Network preferences Advanced Tab.  Also binding worked as well when I did this.

  • Remote Access: Configure Video Playback to not go black

While using Remote Access Media server the display will go black in the middle of the video the sound will keep playing and if you touch your keypad or mouse fast enough the screen will start up again but if you aren't paying attention you may have to
sign back into your computer. Is there any settings either in Windows 8.1 or on Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2 that I can change to get this behavior to stop.
    Derek Smith

    Hi,
Regarding to your description, did you mean when the screen came black, if you didn’t do anything, you had to entry password and then log on computer
again? Or just the screen gone black, then you operate, the screen came back? Did you always encounter this issue at the same time when the video plays?
Based on current state, please refer to the path: Control Panel-> Power Options-> Change plan settings, then check the setting “Turn off the
display”. How many minutes you set to the setting? And, please follow the path: Control Panel-> Personalization-> Screen Saver, then check how long the waiting time you set.
By the way, would you please use another Player to play the video, will encounter the same issue?
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • Remote Access Requirement

    Dear Experts,
Currently our Business One 2005A version software is installed in SQL Server.
Remote access is made through Citrix Web Interface Metaframe Presentation Server.
Would someone tell me if we can access remotely through Terminal Server instead to the SQL server and maintain system perfomance? In this senario what will be the web interface requirement?
    Thanks,
    Kunitomo

    Dear Kunitomo,
Definitely! Actually Terminal Server might be better option than Citrix because it users system resources more efficiently.
An RDP would be the client option for Terminal Server.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Bug: CR XI on Windows Terminal Server 2008

We have a problem when printing a report for example with 2 columns, where the 1st column's content is larger than the width of that column, then the content is printed through colum 2.
    But only when:
working on remote on Terminal Server 2008
when printing on a remote printer (redirected)
    There's no problem:
    in the preview window
when printing to a local printer of the server
    on Terminal Server 2003
    Any ideas?
    Tx
    Patrick

You mentioned it worked fine in the preview window, so does the issue only show up when not printing with data?

  • How to enable second HD DVR for remote access?

I easily got my first HD DVR setup for remote access and it worked perfetly for 1 day, then it stopped working.  After 2 hours on the phone with tech support, we got it to work again.  However, we were unable to get my second DVR setup.  He said that I could only have one DVR setup for remote access, is that true?  If not, any assistance would be much appreciated.
    Thank you!

Are you speaking of Remote Access from the Web?  ...or from a mobile phone?
For Web Access it is absolutely NOT TRUE!
I have TWO DVRs.  I can access both remotely from the web and schedule or delete recordings.
The tech MAY have been speaking of (or confused about) the MULTI-ROOM capability that the DVR's have.
Only one of the DVRs can be (and is) a Home Media (or Multi-Room) DVR, and therefore can share recordings with my other NON-DVR STB and communicates with any computer on my home network for PC-based Audio, Vieo and Image files, as well as connecting to the certain Internet video streaming sites.
The other DVR is a standalone machine is this regard, but regardless, it still has remote access to control it from the Web.
(I do not know anything about the Remote Access from a mobile phone capability, since I do have a Verizon Wireless contract.  THAT Remote Access may indeed be limited to just a single DVR.)

  • How to add user to a terminal server list ?

Hi , is there a way out to login users to terminal server remotely without GUI(rdp) from some commandline?
    background:
i am trying to remote login user after machine restart in order to start a automation test run, so in order for the automation testrun to work properly i need to open a user session on the remote machine. after restart only two entries are found (when qwinsta
    is queried)
SESSIONNAME USERNAME    ID STATE TYPE DEVICE
    console             administrator 0  active wdcon
    rdp-tcp                                 65536 listen rdpwd
so i can't use tscon to connect to a user session as not user session exists in the first place?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
As per your comment, you can login users remotely to terminal server with “mstsc” command line as per below command.
    mstsc [<connection file>] [/v:<server[:port]>] [/admin] [/f[ullscreen]] [/w:<width>] [/h:<height>] [/public] | [/span] [/edit "connection file"] [/migrate] [/?]
For more information, refer beneath article.
Use command line parameters with Remote Desktop Connection

    Hope it helps!

  • Cannot Print in IE11 on Terminal Server 2012

I am having an issue with printing with IE11 in Terminal Server 2012.
    Issue-
The print preview shows up as blank, and when I hit print, nothing happens(the print window never shows up). I can print from other applications fine. Additionally, this is only affecting one user on my terminal server. Everyone else is able to print out
of Internet Explorer fine. I have tried launching IE with add-ons disabled and the problem exists in both 64/32 bit IE. I have rebooted my terminal server. The user is still unable to print from IE. I have checked that enhanced IE security is off.
Nothing seems to be working here.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
According to your description, this just occurs to particular user profile. Please check if there is a Low folder existed in following path:
    "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp
If it does exist, take these steps to apply the integrity level:
1.Open a Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
2.Type following command and press ENTER:
    ICACLS "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low" /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low
    3.Restart the computer.
4.Print or print preview a Web page in Internet Explorer.
