Remote admin vs LabView

Hello, All!
I am using my LabView 6.1 application on remote PC (Win2k Pro) controlled by
Remote Admin software via LAN.
Main PC with application running is not accesable and only one way to
control the LabView panel is the notebook connected via LAN interface.
It works perfect with one exception: I can not see the context menus when I
right-ckicking on remote screen.
Is it a problem with Remote Admin software or this problem could be
connected to LV itself?
Is it possible to arrange a full-functional remote control panel from LV
environment without second party software like Remote Admin?

Hi, Luca
You're right I can use LV remote panel to control my VI, but actually I need
to change something in diagram via remote connection.

  • Can I find the OS of a remote system using LabVIEW?

I wish to be able to start an application on a remote system using
LabVIEW. To do this, I need to know what the OS of the remote system is
(Windows, Linux, etc). I can ask the user to provide this information
for me, but is there any way I can get LabVIEW to automatically
retrieve this information? I know I can use the application node with
the OS sub-section to get this information for the local machine... is
there any way I can remotely run this? Would VI server allow me to run
this, if I turned it into a VI, on the remote system such that I could
retrieve this information for the remote system? Or is there a neater
    solution I'm missing?
    Cheers,
    M.J.

Heya... many thanks for the suggestion(s).
The problem with my case is there's any number of users on the network
that might be using this, and it could be running on a Windows or Linux
box, depending on user circumstances, so trying to get a VI Starter
type application put into the start-up of all machines just in case is
    a) overkill & b) more than I want to bite off So basically I
need to have the VI running on the machine in order to use VI server is
what I'm hearing & reading from the help, which essentially my idea
of dynamically firing off labview & loading/running any VI on the
remote system just ain't possible... hmmmn.
Back to the drawing board then, it looks like...
    Cheers,
    M.J.

  • 2012 - White circle indicator on SQL Agent and Instance even though I am in the sysadmin server role, check remote admin or firewall?

Im in the sysadmin role on the server in question, yet when I connect I see a white circle on both the instance level and SQL Agent nodes.  Ive seen this before, but dont recall what I did to fix it on other machines.  I believe it has something
to do with the "Remote Admin" firewall setting.  Does this sound right?
I can see jobs listed under SQL Agent, but im wondering what features I will not be able to do (from SSMS) unless this is resolved?

    Hi shiftbit,
Besides other post, please add your account as local admin on the Server you are connecting to and make sure that you right-click SQL Server Management Studio and choose “Run as administrator” to start it, then check that if you have the green circle on instance
    level and agent node.
There is also a blog describing white circle indicator issue  for your reference.

  • RV042 remote admin question

I'm hoping this question has a simple answer that i'm overlooking.  One of our customers has to abide with some regulations and a security company has ran a scan on their network and reported vulnerabilities.  One of those vulnerabilities is in regards to port 443.  When going to their address remotely (i.e. https://dynamicname.dyndns.com), you are prompted for a login even though we specifically defined a port for remote admin (i.e. https://dynamicname.dyndns.com:XXXX).  I would think since we defined the port for remote admin then 443 wouldn't be able to access the router.  Is there a way to fix this?  We tried blocking just port 443 but that locked us out of the router for some reason.  Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

If port 443 is not used, you could consider forwarding port 443 to a LAN IP that is not used as a workaround to pass the security scan.
Which firmware are you using on RV042?

  • Spellman power supply SL40PN2000 remote control using Labview

We have a SL40PN2000 Spellman power supply. We want to do remote programming using Labview program.
We want to control the voltage output.
    Many thanks for your help.

You need to first determine the remote control interface. Is it GPIB, RS-232, Ethernet, USB, etc.? In the case of GPIB, you would need to purchase a GPIB controller.
There is not an existing instrument driver but you can review the information here on what a driver is and how to devleop one.

  • Can I remote admin Airport Extreme

I've always been interested in seeing if I can remote admin the AEBS and use the opportunity to VPN into one of my machines. I've been able to do it to my Dad's Netgear. How do I do it to my own router?

Yes you certainly can administer the Base Station remotely. Enable it using the Airport Utility -> Manual Setup -> Airport button -> Base Station tab -> check the box to "Allow configuration over ethernet WAN port".
On the remote Mac, run the Airport Utility and from the File menu select "Configure other" then enter the WAN IP address and admin password of the Base Station.
Setting up a VPN link into a computer on your private LAN is a completely separate issue with configuration issues that have nothing to to with the above.

  • Hyper-V Remote Admin on a Domain - Failed to connect to root\cimv2

I'm trying to configure our Hyper-V server so that a user on our domain has administrative control.  Our Hyper-V server is on the domain running 2008 R2 (named SERVER85 below), and the client is on Win 7 Ent x64 (named DEV03 below, username accuraty\jkessel).
In the output below you can see that it appears we might have a problem with this user's access to the WMI path root\CIMv2, but if I pull up the advanced security settings for that node in WMI, I see:
    Name: Justin Kessel ([email protected])
Apply to: This namespace and subnamespaces
Permissions allowed: "Enable Account" and "Remote Enable" (no others, no denies).
IMHO, the server, the desktop, and user are all fairly "vanilla" with nothing unusual going on.  Maybe one thing worth noting: our Small Business Server 2008 (i.e. domain controller) is running as a VPS on SERVER85, so SERVER85 never boots with the
domain controller on.  This hasn't ever caused problems except that the machine always thinks it's firewall should be in the "work" configuration instead of the "domain" configuration.  I tested running the HVRemote script while the SERVER85 firewall
was turned off, and I get exactly the same results below.
One more note: this user currently can logon through RDP to SERVER85 and administer Hyper-V just fine.  This user is *not* a domain admin or an admin on that server - I've simply provided him with the right permissions to be able to RDP and admin Hyper-V
    only.
We used HVRemote and it output this info when run on the client:

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 UPGRADE BROKE REMOTE ADMIN CONSOLE CONNECTIVITY

I installed SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 on my site server but it broke a couple things. I've never had problems with SCCM upgrades before. The admin console works if you log into the site server and run it from there but not when you try it from anywhere else (another
server or a workstation). When you open the admin console on the site server it does have the new version of 5.00.7958.1401. Of the five suggestions that appear when your console won't connect, here's what I know:
    1) the remote machines can all ping the site server (call it server 01)
    2) we know it's not my account that's a problem as I can open the console on the site server itself
    3) This problem happens on server 02, which I put the new admin console on. It also happens with other machines which still have the CU2 console
    4) Yes, I'm an admin role, shown by logging into the console on the site server
    5) I have another network where everything works. I have not put CU3 on it yet, of course. The WMI permissions on Root, Root\SMS, and Root\SMS\site_ABC are identical on both site servers yet it works on non-upgraded one and not on the upgraded one.
WMI info-I can WMI connect from the site server to these other machines but not WMI connect from the other machines to the site server: not root, SMS, or SMS\site_ABC, nor cimv2, even though the permissions match what is on the working network.
When I launch the console from the site server entries about loading the console loading ok are in SMSAdminUI.log, but when I try to launch the console from other machines no entries are made, even though I changed the SmsAdminSNapIN value to VERBOSE.
I checked DCOM permissions and they are the same on both networks.
Another issue that appeared with this upgrade: I can install the client upgrade to CU3 on other machines but on the site server it fails with "Internal Error 2503" and when you click OK it you get "Internal Error 2502".
    Ben JohnsonWY

I'd suspected this WMI problem was only affecting our Server 2012 boxes. I compared RSOPs and noticed the ones having this problem were all under the same OU and getting few GPOs. Our GPO person found a GPO that has somehow become unlinked.  He relinked
it. After a gpo update AND a reboot these machines start working again.  So CU3 did not cause this WMI after all.
And yes, the CU2 consoles won't connect to a CU3 site server, you have to run the console upgrade.
I fixed the "internal error 2503/2502" by doing this: open task manager, click details, end the explorer task (screen will look blank at first). Click File and select "start new task", enter "explorer.exe' and click the run as admin
button. The msp for CU3 client installed and the screen looks normal again. I only saw this error on the site server and have never seen it before.

  • Remote Admin Client

We have upgraded from SCCM 2012 sp1 to SCCM 2012 R2. We can open the admin tools on the server with no issues. The problem is with the remote client which will not connect.  I have uninstall and reinstall.  It connects first time it's opened, but
when I close and re-open it will not connect has anyone had this issues?.  We are running windows 8.1 and this issue only happens with the remote client which was install from the CD. I recieve the error below
The Configuration Manager console cannot connect to the Configuration Manager site database. Verify the following:
          •    This computer has network connectivity to the SMS Provider computer.
          •    Your user account has Remote Activation permission on the Configuration Manager site server and the SMS Provider computer.
          •    The Configuration Manager console version is supported by the site server.
          •    You are assigned to at least one role-based administration security role.
          •    You have the following WMI permissions to the Root\SMS and Root\SMS\site_<site code> namespaces: Execute Methods, Provider Write, Enable Account, and Remote Enable
    Best regards, Wayne

    Hi,
Since the error indicates that it cannot connection to site database, you can test with UDL file:

  • Remote Admin applications freeze (sometimes!)

I'd appreciate any help people might be able to offer for this very odd problem I'm having.
Background: I installed Leopard server in my college department yesterday. That went well, and I was able to administer it locally. It served web pages, a wiki; email, webmail all worked well. It's a standard configuration
Then I installed the administration apps on my MacBook Pro so that I could administer remotely. When I launched any of the applications (Server Preferences, Server Admin) they froze -- "application not responding" and I had to force quit the app. Consistently.
So, I packed up and went home for the night. At home, I opened up the MBP and thought I'd give it another try, and lo and behold, NOT A PROBLEM at all! No freezing. I was able to administer the server remotely, add users, etc.
When I got back to the office today, I tried the Server Preferences app, and it froze again! Consistently! Wired or wireless connection on the MBP. Restarted, tried a different (virgin) user account on the MBP. Nothing.
I installed the remote server admin applications on an iMac in the room next to me. No problem at all, it works just fine.
I restarted my MBP, even reinstalled the admin software. Server Preferences consistently hangs.
At the end of the day I once again went home, where I'm posting this, and tried Server Preferences. And... yes, it's working JUST FINE here. I can once again administer the server, add users, not a hint of a freeze. (I guess I should mention that at home I'm on an Airport Base Station connected to a cable modem; at the university I'm either on an Airport BS or the university's ethernet.)
    I'm stumped.

    Here's a Spinning Beachball faq.
I've found that if Disk Utility can't fix it, you'll need a more robust utility for the repair. I would recommend DiskWarrior. It is the best at directory repairs. It rebuilds then actually replaces your old directory. I feel every Mac owner should have a copy.
Even if it doesn't cure this ailment, you'll likely need it in the future.
Make sure you get the disk so you can boot up on it to run repairs. You can also install it on another drive and run it from there to repair this one. DW works faster that way.
I use DW once a month to try and catch errors in my system from getting too far out of hand. DW has repaired every big and little issue I've had on all three of my Macs.

  • DPM remote admin console unable to open on Windows 7

    Hi,
I have installed DPM 2012 remote administrator console on windows 7 computer with user having local administrator rights on windows 7 computer as well as DPM server but when I am trying to open console on windows 7 computer it gives below error:
Unable to connect “dpm server FQDN” (ID:948)
Verify that the DPM service is running on this computer.
Same console is able to open with DPMADMIN user but unable to open with other user having local administrator rights. DPMADMIN is having domain admin rights.
So what exactly rights are required to run DPM remote administrator console.

Does your other user has access right to DPM DB? Try assign that user to sysadmin right.

  • Remote access in LabVIEW

Recently, I received the Compact DAQ that I bought.  The CDAQ is connected to a remote computer that does not have labview, but remote system does have MAX and LV run time engine.  I am trying to access that remote CDAQ on my local machine through LabVIEW, but it doesn't work.
For my GPIB and serial instrument on the remote sysem, I can access them through VISA server.  I can see all these instrument on my local machine, except for the CDAQ.  I thought I could see the CDAQ on my local machine through VISA server, similar to how I see the GPIB and serial instrument on my remote machine.  I guess this is not the case.
All I want to do is to access my CDAQ that is connected to a remote computer on my local machine.  What are the different ways to achieve this?
Kudos and Accepted as Solution are welcome!

Can you give me a little more information on your setup. Which cDAQ chassis is in question?
If I understand you correctly, you want to connect to the cDAQ using another computer, do you have DAQmx installed on the remote computer. Again, how is the cDAQ connected to your system?

  • Unable to connect to DPM Database through Remote Admin Console

    Hello all,
I have a fresh install of DPM 2012 server.  I am able to locally start the Admin Console and work with the DPM server, however when I attempt this remotely, I get the following error:
Unable to connect to the DPM database on <database instances name> (ID: 33210).
I have verified this is a firewall issue by disabling the firewall and connecting.  I would, however, like to create firewall rules for just the ports that are necessary, and have not been able to find the correct ports by following tutorials online.
     Any help is appreciated.
I have attempted the tutorial here: http://blog.patricknielsen.net/2011/10/dpm-2010unable-to-connect-to-dpm.html which seemed on the spot, but brings no
    joy.
    Much appreciated,
    J

    Hi,
The blog should have worked, but add the program exceptions in windows firewall on the DPM server, again but don't restrict the port usage.
    1. %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center 2012\DPM\SQL\MSSQL10_50.<DPM SQL Instance>\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe
    2. %ProgramFiles% (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlbrowser.exe

  • How to share folders in remote pcs using labview

how to share folders remotely using labview?
If there is any connection problem, how to read the file continuosly till there is a signal and get the data?

You could just use Copy File.  It would be a lot simpler than reading the file and appending to your second file every second.

  • DPM Remote Admin Console crashes on startup after installing Rollup 5

Just installed System Center DPM rollup 5 on our server (and restarted) and my admin PC. When I start the DPM admin client on my PC it crashes MMC on startup.  Clients with only rollup 4 installed can still launch the client without issue.
The error shows up in the event log as event 999 below:

PS. I've also removed and reinstalled the remote client on my PC without any change in this behavior.  The console on the DPM server itself works however.

    Hi Guys
the GUI crashes issue after R5 in the following cases
    Case1:
You have never protected the DPM server’s System State, with the DPM server itself
You have protected some System State from other Production Servers
    You upgrade to UR5
You trigger an inquiry on the DPM Server itself
    Case2:
You have a primary DPM server protecting the System State of a Production Server
You have attached the primary DPM server to a secondary DPM server for Disaster Recovery
You upgrade the secondary DPM server to UR5
You trigger an inquiry on the
primary DPM server in the secondary DPM server UI
    Then:
The UI crashes, and gets hung if you start it again
    Cmdlets are also unresponsive
    Workaround:
Stop all DPM services (MSDPM, Access Manager, DPM Writer, DPMRA, VssNullProvider)
    Backup your DPM DB
Open the SQL Server Management Studio (Either from Start Screen, or Run: ssms.exe)
Connect to the SQL Instance holding the DPM DB
Right click the DPM DB and click on “New Query”
    Paste the following SQL script:
    DELETE
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    WHERE
    ProtectedObjectId IN
    SELECT PO.ProtectedObjectId
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    AS PO
    JOIN dbo.tbl_AM_Server
    AS SRVR
    ON PO.ServerId
    = SRVR.ServerId
    WHERE (CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'System State'
    OR CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'Bare Metal Recovery')
    AND PO.ProtectedInPlan
    = 0
    AND PO.ProtectedObjectId
    NOT IN
    (SELECT
    ProtectedObjectId FROM
    dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObjectAlerts)
    AND LOWER(CONVERT(XML,PO.LogicalPath).value(
    '(/child::ArrayOfInquiryPathEntryType/child::InquiryPathEntryType[attribute::Type="Server"]/attribute::Value)[1]',
    'VARCHAR(4096)'
    )) !=
    LOWER(SRVR.ServerName)
    Press F5 to execute
    Start all DPM services
The UI and cmdlets should work normally as before
    Thanks Islam
