Remote Administration from Turkey?

Normally I would not be that concerned. This IP originates from Turkey though and to top it off I just changed my password about a week ago. According to this log, someone from Turkey succesfully connected to my router. Well it does say ICMP which is ping or for the ones that don't know it's Internet Control Message Protocol but it also says Remote Administration which I find a bit whacky. I guess my main question is, why can't verizon block this stuff from their network alltogether?Why does the customer have to even see this stuff? Does anyone know anybody from Turkey, China or the Russian Federation?

An ICMP type 8 packet is simply an echo, or ping. The term remote administration is a misnomer and does not indicate a logon to your router.
Ping is a valid troubleshooting tool, but having it enabled can disclose the presence of a router at your IP address.
You can disable your router responding to pings
- Click on the Advanced icon.
- Select Remote Administration
- Uncheck the box next to Allow ICMP echo request
- Apply

Hooking things to your tablet - different tablets will have different ports (USB, HDMI, etc.) Question to ask prior to making a purchase as some do not have ports (iPad). Back to my Samsung, I have several ports and do hook it to my TV

Hyper-V Cluster went wacky, ERROR_TIMEOUT (1460), Remote Administration, Remote Registry

Each Hyper-V host is a Windows 2012 Server
Each host is Connected to a Dell Powervault MD3260 via Dual SAS Cables.
We started getting Errors similar to the Following:

The CSV Resources that were giving the Timeout Errors were all managed on one specific host, other CSVs on the Powervault were all working fine form the Host reporting the timeout error.
Each of the Host then started to have issues with timeouts to other CSV. Dell Tech Support interrogated the Powervault and found no issued with the Connectivity and no events were present on the Powervault indicating an issue.
Each of the Host would then hand in Explorer, the Task bar would have no icons in the task bar and turn to hourglass when moving mouse to it.
Failover Cluster Manager would sometimes work, then stop working, It would not update the status of the VMs. They would jsut stay at "Loading..." Hyper-V Manager would have similar issues.
We ended up Shutting down all of the VMs and the Cluster and then bringing it back online. Though in the Process we had to tweak some things, the DNS settings on the Hosts were pointing to a VM that was Offline that was fixed. We could not reconnect to the
cluster after we turned on the Hosts. We were getting RPC server unavailable.
I ended up turning off the Firewalls, resetting the NICs and things started to get better.
8 Minutes prior to the Issues did make a few GPO Changes.

I guess I don't see why what I did caused this? The only Change that should of been a Limitation was the Remote Registry set to Manual. If the service on the Clusters was set to Automatic and I set it to Manual, I could see that happening. I removed
that setting in the GPO, though I never altered the service on the Cluster Hosts afterwards.
I Guess if in the Setup of the Cluster Hosts it Changed the Inbound Rules in the Firewall and then I limited them further, though I allowed the LocalSubnet and all of the Hosts are in the local subnet. 10.1.0.0/16.
One Host finally came back online and was able to start VMs and Connect to the cluster without stopping the firewall. Its firewall was only turned off later to match the other three hosts.
Do the Cluster Hosts use the ports for Remote Administration to Communicate to each other?
Here is another thought, Do they communicate to each other via the Management Port or the Redundant Network Link? the Redundant Channel Link is in 10.99.0.0/24 Though Each of the changes I made had either
10.0.0.0/8 which should be a super-set of 10.99.0.0/24 or it had LocalSubnet, which should be 10.99.0.0/24
I just want to be sure that was really the cause and turning off the firewalls was not just masking another issue.

I went ahead and reset whatever settings he changed, but how do I close this port to prevent this guy from gaining access to my router in the future?

That certainly doesn't look like anything I've seen VZ add.
I have seen VZ add a UDP from from ANY address / ANY port to DVR port 63145 which effective blocks port forwarding needed for third party VOIP.
VZ recently encrypted the Actiontec config file.  However the config file for Westells remains unencrypted.
If you want to block access to the CPE Management port.
Save your current configuration to a file.
Open it with a text editor.
About 3/4 of the way down the file you will see the following lines:
(cwmp
    (enabled(1))
Change it to:
(cwmp
    (enabled(0))
That should block remote CPU access.

Air Port Extreme Remote Administration?

Is it possible to administer the Air Port Extreme remotely?
My Linksys router has been doing OK lately, but have been noticing issues like speed latency. I think this is true not only since another B or G Wifi device connected to the router causing the rest of the speeds to decrease, but also since I moved into a location that has many WiFi hotspots - specifically my condo complex. My conclusion is buying a dual band wireless router which probablt has a larger WiFi range too. I am debating on whether or not to buy the Apple Air Port Extreme Base Station or one of the top 3 Linksys E Seriers routers (E2500, E3200, E4200), since I have 2 iPads, an iMac, 2 iPhones, 2 Apple TVs, 2 Windows 7 laptops, 1 Windows XP desktop, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and 2 WiFi enablesd Blue Ray Players. I saw that I was able to access all of the devices with the Air Port Extreme Base Station - great! Air Port Extreme Base Station works great with all of the Apple devices, stops latency slow WiFi speeds and can have a USB hub attached to allow for a printer, multiple HDs [Time Machine Backups, YAY], etc. I am leaning towards the Air Port Extreme Base Station, but have two reservations:
(1) WEB BROWSER: I cannot administer the Air Port Extreme Base Station via a web browser and am forced to install the software and
(2) REMOTE ADMINISTRATION: I cannot make any changes to the Air Port Extreme Base Station remotely, say if I'm at work, forgot to open a few ports and NAT/PAT, to access my computer.
I would buy the Air Port Extreme Base Station if I can at least get through one of these two reservations.
Please help.

I am looking to set up remote access to my Airport Extreme that is running the latest firmware. Can you describe what I need to do to do so? I do not have a static IP so will have to use something like DynDNS I assume. My needs are pretty simple. From time to time my Airport drops out (I'm guessing after a power outage) and while the Cablevision modem restarts, my Airlort is often left flashing orange. This would be fine except that this is all at a weekend house that is 90 miles away and I need the wifi to be working so that I can access my Nest thermostat as well as my Insteon system for remote light management.

Remote administration can't be disabled

I've seen a couple of posts on this, but none that seemed to be properly resolved. I have a wag200g, and remote administration cannot be disabled. I'm not a moron so please don't give me some copy paste reply telling me what button to click, as someone did in a different thread on this problem.I'm on the latest firmware, so nothing on that either please. The only sensible solution is to route all incoming on port 80 to a dead ip address, same as I've had to do for the inexplicably open port 443 - another dangerous security hole.
Seriously, I think this is a HUGE problem that you've got, since I found the same on someone else with the same router. Difference being, they hadn't changed the admin password. Hence, just knowing the ip its possible to login with admin/admin and cause havoc.The login box for remote administration even helpfully gives you the make and model of the router..........sheer madness.
I'd like to say this is the last linksys router I'll ever buy, but it's not. I'm going to get one of those old ones on ebay so I can install dd-wrt on it and not have to worry about linksys firmware (seriously, javascript, on a router admin page? you got to be kidding)
Anyway, I'm not really looking for answers, just wanting to register the problem in a way that hopefully might make someone listen

You will need to connect to the remote system using some service other than IIS, since starting IIS is one of your requirements. The usual is to connect using Telnet or SSH. I posted code to connect to a Unix box using Telnet. You could use this to connect to a Windows system that was running a Telnet server.

What "ethernet port" does airport utility use for "remote administration"

I have a friend who was recently evangelized to Macs and bought a Macbook Pro and an Apple Airport Extreme (gigabit) Router, hereinafter called AE. The place where he lives has cable modem internet access and an older Linksys wireless-G router for the building, and I am trying to configure his new AE, prior to making it the primary router in the network (e.g. connected to the cable modem).
When the AE is completely configured the Linksys will be retired.
I remotely manage and maintain the network and some other computers in that house. The Linksys is configured for Remote Administration so I can manage it. I manage several PC's and Macs using Timbuktu Pro 8, with the necessary ports forwarded through to TB2 on those machines.
I am trying to configure the Airport so it also can be managed remotely, so from a workstation on that network (accessed from where I am using TB2) and running Airport Utility, I have checked "Allow setup over WAN" on the Airport/BaseStation page. Now I would like to test whether I can connect and remotely administer that Airport Extreme from Airport Utility on my Mac.
I assume that, if I can rout packets from my Airport Utility here through the internet to the public IP of the Linksys router there, I should be able to connect. But I can't.
My setup is this. The target AE has its WAN port connected to an ethernet port on the Linksys, as is the LAN in the remote building. Nothing is connected to the AE's ethernet ports at this time. The Linksys is the DHCP server, and the AE has an IP from it, as does all the other ethernet- and wireless-connected computers, printers, etc. The AE's wireless is active and the wireless-connected devices in the building can connect to either its base station or to that of the Linksys. When the Linksys is retired the AE will be the only wireless in the building.
I attempt to connect in the following way: On my Mac, I run Airport Utility. From the file menu I select "Configure other" and enter the public IP address of the remote Linksys, and give AE's password. There is a long wait

I suspect that my remote connection problem is due to the fact that the AE is behind the Linksys, and the proper port forwarding is not in place on it to pass the Airport Utility's packets through to the Wan port of the AE. This might be that I have not entered into the Linksys the correct port number to forward on to the AE. I've tried the three numbers in the list:

that are mentioned as possibly being involved with Airport Utility; 192, 4500 and 5009.

One example, and there may be others, is the (free) DynDNS dynamic DNS service which publishes a domain name for the WAN port of your router which can then be resolved, like all other domain names, to the actual IP address of the WAn port of your router. This service provides a solution to the problem of having a proper domain name in cases where your public IP address changes over time. Unless you pay for a static IP address, virtually all ISPs change your public IP address over time.
So, you can register for a free DynDNS account at www.dyndns.com and that is how you come up with the User: and Password: information; use whatever User and Password you register at dyndns.com with.
The first part of the hostname you can define as you wish, subject only to someone else having used it previously, and the remaining parts of the domain name might be "dyndns.org" or one of the other domain names provided by the DynDNS service. So, you could publish, via DynDNS, the name of your public IP address as, for example, joehlam.dyndns.org however you might want something less descriptive or more vague.

Remote administration Airport extreme

Hi everybody,
I Have two networks, one at home one in my office. I use apple remote desktop to go to "my" computer at the the office and vice versa. The thing that isn`t good at all is, that I only can go remotly to a single computer within the network, the one I forwarded the IP on the Airport extreme station. But from time to time I need to go on another computer. So my Idea was to administer the Airport express station remotly using the airport admin utility. I have a fix IP on both ends and connecting to the internet using PPPoE on both machines. When I put in the IP address of My AirPort station in the office using search other in airport admin utility at home, after mybe 5 Minutes an error occours saying that the configurattion couldn`t be read. What is the problem? Is it the PPPoE configuration?
Both Airport running on 5.6, Macs all on 10.4.3. For any help very happy!

A few suggestions:
- firmware version 6.2 has many instability issues, particularly on PPPoE connections. You should use firmware version 5.5.1 available from:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportextremefirmware551formacosx.html
- it is probably best to try this without a router or firewall between the Mac you are doing the configuration from, and the internet
- make sure you have enabled the remote administration function on the target Base Station (I think this setting is found by clicking on the Base Station "Options" button in the Airport Admin Utility)

Way to remotely wake Mac from sleep?

I'm posting this from 33,967 feet aboard Virgin America. I was remotely accessing my computer via VNC for iPhone and using the inflight Wi-Fi, when my iMac overheated and automatically put itself to sleep. I'm pretty sure that's what happened, it's done it before. I had iCam running so I could monitor my living room while I am traveling and keep am eye on my cat. It was all working great until I stupidly started using safari remotely and made my processor heat up and over heat the machine (it's a G5 iMac and my apartment gets pretty hot AND there is a heatwave today). I'm kind of stressed out right now because I can't connect to use iCam and watch my cat. Wondering if there is a remote comand or something I can send via a terminal app to wake the machine? Otherwise I'm hoping my cat gets bored and hops up on the desk and steps on the keyboard or something. I'm thinking this is a long shot hoping somebody knows something I don't. Thanks in advance.

P.S. If it's a power failure, I do have the machine set to automatically restart after a power interruption, and automatically log back in..

This requires sending it a magic packet and is only possible if it is set to wake for administrator access from the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences, you know it's current public IP, the interface it's connected through is supported(many Macs can't do this over a wireless connection), and if you're using a router, port forwarding for that type of packet is enabled.

I don't know of any easy way to search for Turkish music. All I can suggest is that you use the Browse feature (it's under the Quick Links on the home iTunes Store page) and browse the World section. Whether there's any Turkish music on the iTunes Store at all I don't know.

After the system copy, go to transaction SALE -> Sending and receiving Systems -> Logical systems -> Define Logical System , click New Entries and create a new logical system for your QAS; then go to SALE -> Sending and receiving Systems -> Logical systems -> Assign Client to Logical System, click on the client, click change and assign the new Logical system.
Other activities, check Jobs, RFC's, etc...

No. Return it and get your money back if still within the 30 day return window. All US iPhones are carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked.

We are using Swiz as the micro-architecture for Flex development and Zend AMF for remoting between Flex and PHP.
Any ideas what is wrong here, what is causing Flex to send different request packets for the same service & what I can do to fix it?
