Remote and Transactional Cube

Dear Friends,
How a Basic Cube differs from a Transactional and Remote Cube ?
A Small Example- Cube Carries the Transaction data of Customer ,Material, Sales details ( characteristics) and price, Quantity and Revenue (keyfigures) .
When do we Really have to Change or to Create the Other Cubes to hold those Data ?
What is the Exact Purpose that a Scenario Needs the Remote and Transactional Cube ?
I hope Remote Cube Can be created with "Infoservices" and "Source system" . What is the demand for both these options?

Remotecbue will have only structure and It does't hold any data.
and it is used to bring live data to BW ..At the time of reporting only the data fetches from the source system. So it takes more time to execute.
it will not hav update rules...
Transactional InfoCubes are used only in conjunction with SEM. The data from this kind of InfoCube is accessed transactionally, meaning data is written to the InfoCube (possibly by several users at the same time) and reread as soon as possible. Basic InfoCubes are not suitable for this. You should use Basic InfoCubes for read-only access (for example, when reading reference data).

Only 0FIGL_V10 is connected to that cube, and it uses a function module. You won't see a transformation between them. You should activate them from BCT, then load and information will get populated to your reports on the virtual and remote cubes.

Hi Main differences,
1) Trasactional infocube are optimized for writing data that is multiple user can simultaneously write data into it without much effect on the performance where as the std infocube are optimized to read the data ie.e through queries.
2) transactional inofcubes can be loaded through SEM process as well normal laoding process.Std can be loaded only thorugh normal loading process.
3) the way data is stored is same but the indexing and partionong aspects are different since one is optimized for writing and another one for reading.

How to create a Transactional Cube in BW 7.0

Hi people:
I'm working with version 7.0 and SEM 6.0 . The help of sap tells that i can create a transactional cube in an option of a check box during de copy of a cube (It works with version 3.5).
Today i'm very surprised when trying to create a transactional cube and this option isn't avaliable.I try to search an option in the administrator workbench, but i didn't see anything.
Does anybody knows if the transaccional cubes still alive in this version? If the answer is yes, can anybody please tell me de procedure to create them?

Creating a Real-Time InfoCube
When creating a new InfoCube in the Data Warehousing Workbench, select the Real-Time indicator.
Converting a Standard InfoCube into a Real-Time InfoCube
Conversion with Loss of Transaction Data
If the standard InfoCube already contains transaction data that you no longer need (for example, test data from the implementation phase of the system), proceed as follows:
1. In the InfoCube maintenance in the Data Warehousing Workbench, from the main menu, choose InfoCube ® Delete Data Content. The transaction data is deleted and the InfoCube is set to inactive.
2. Continue with the same procedure as with creating a real-time InfoCube.
Conversion with Retention of Transaction Data
If the standard InfoCube already contains transaction data from the production operation that you still need, proceed as follows:
Execute ABAP report SAP_CONVERT_NORMAL_TRANS under the name of the corresponding InfoCube. Schedule this report as a background job for InfoCubes with more than 10,000 data records because the runtime could potentially be long.

How to write plan data into Transactional Cube from Visual Composer ?

Dear experts,
Visual Composer is very powerfull to build a 'nice-looking' web-report (I think is much better than Web Application Designer in term of freely position the chart/graph/table/selection parameter in anywhere we like. We can't have this flexibility in WAD) plus it also has strong integration to R/3 for posting the transactions via RFC-Enabled Function Module (such as changing customer credit limit, approve PO, approve Sales Order, etc), so that the R/3 user won't even have to know the TrxCode.
In addition to this, I just wondering if VC also capable to write plan data into transactional cube via Write-Enable Query. We can simply insert a BW Query into VC as planning layout (set the edit-mode to "editable") plus having some Wizards to make it more user-friendly and self-explanatory for the users.
But I am not sure how to save the changes back to transactional cube from VC.
Could anyone please kindly advise how to achieve this.
"Seeing is believing" is always my learning method, so I would appreciate some "actioanable" explanation or hints.

Hi Sen,
As far as I know, it's not possible to write data into transactional cubes directly from a table in Visual Composer through standar method, but it's possible to integrate a WAD with your input ready query into a URL element in VC (You can fill entry variables in VC and call WAD dinamically), so it's possible to create a planning application in VC calling dinamically WAD's.
Another way to interact through VC is creating button objects that calls planning sequences (with BAPI calling RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE). Also can fill variables in VC and pass them to sequence.

Read data from transactional cube in version SEM 6.40

Hi,
In an exit function of the transaction BPS0, I want to read transaction datas in a transactional cube. In version BW 2.1C - SEM 3.0A, I used the function RSDPL_CUBE_DATA_READ. Now the system is in version BW 3.5 - SEM 6.40 and the function just read datas which are in request's status 'OK' (watch transaction RSA1, 'manage' on the cube). If the request as status 'indifferent; not yet finished', the function don't read its data.
How can't I read all the transaction datas in a transactional cube.

Restamtent functionality did not help at this issue.
What we did a Copy of the Version and attached the "old" hierachy.
This was the only solution.

No records written to the transactional cube with the copy function

Hi, I am unable to copy data from the basic cube to transactional cube,
I have developed following:
1. Planning Area PA1 for the basic cube
2. Planning Area PA2 for the transactional cube
3. Multi planning Area MPA1 over PA1 and PA2.
4. Planning Level PL1 for MPA1. It includes all the chars and KF.
5. Planning Package PP1 for PL1. No selections are made in this planning package.
6. Planning Function PF1 for PL1. It is based on copy function and has Plng Area in the field to be changed.
7. Parameter Group PG1 for PF1. I have selected Overwrite existing values option, in from planning area PA1 and in to planning area PA2.
Now when I execute the planning function it displays following log with green status:
Planning function PF1 (PF to copy data actuals to plan), parameter group PG1(PG to copy data) was carried out with no error
500 data records were read, 0 of them were changed, 0 generated
After this I hit the save button. A request is written to the transactional cube but there are no records in this request. Can anyone guide if I am missing something here or with correct steps

Whate ever charcateristic combinatins you have in the plg level will be copied from PA1 to PA2.
Can you pl check the following:
1. Do you have data on the basic cube? If so, take one set of characteristtic combinations and go to transactional cube and check this.
2. Make sure the request in the basic cube is GREEN.
Lets do one more thing.
Tell me what distinguished PA1 and PA2?
If you have any characteristic that distinghished them, then lets run a copy with that characteristic. You dont have to have plng area in the function / para group.
Check the following. I will reply in a few mts, as i have a meeting.

Daily Update from Basic to Transactional Cube

Hello Folks,
Need your thoughts/Best Practice to do this. I need to load a transactional Cube from a basic cube(Actuals cube) on a nightly basis. Both the cubes are at 0CALMONTH granularity level. Feeds to the basic cube are from ODSes from which I would be able to fetch the delta records.
I dont think a copy function within a Multiplanning area would work becoz it is at the month level. The other option is to turn the transactional cube into basic cube and load it from the ODSes on a nightly basis. I have never tried an delta export datasource from an basic cube and moreover with 0CALMONTH being the most granular level, I have to explore if this is a viable solution. But one thing which I am not happy abt is switching the transactional cube back and forth to basic cube. So of these 4 options, which one would you prefer:
1) Export Datasource on the Actuals cube
2) Load from Independent ODSes
3) Copy Function (A month's data would be 250K records)
4) Write an ABAP exit function to extract records from the fact table of the actuals cube with the most recent request IDs.

The reason why I mentioned copy from Actuals to transactional cube wont work is becoz I cant bring in the delta records that got loaded to the Actuals cube yday. Since both the cubes are at the month level and I want to run this function everyday to bring in delta records loaded from yday, so this is a concern. Lets say on Jan 15th I run this copy function. Only selection criteria I ahve is 0CALMONTH. It would bring in all the records for January. This is not a desirable solution.
Business req that I am working on is Expense Forecasting, wherein I check expenses (FI documents) for a PO and do forecasting. The way I wanna see these records on the layout and the order in which I wanna see them and since these actuals are employed for planning functions, I moved away from using the Actuals cube.
Hope this makes sense.

I fellow the introductions from SAP.Help (see Link), but the Programm UPB_DATA_IMPORT
is failed. (See point 3 in Link):

There is a set of objects in business content (check under SAP DEMO in business content). You can activate some or all of these demo objects (for example demo cubes).
There are programs which you can then execute to create the datafiles which can then be loaded to these demo cubes.
" Start report RSO_BC_FILES_IN_BDS (Transaction SE 38), specify the required (Demo) InfoObject/InfoCube and choose the "Start BDN" button. The system will display all (generally one) CSV files which were supplied with the InfoObject/InfoCube. You can either export this CSV file into a local directory or you can write it directly onto the application server. For loading, proceed as described under section 1. " --- from OSS note 370397

Transactional cube creation is similar to the creation of ur basic cube but at the time of loading u have to chack up an option
1.Go to Infoproviders tree right click Info area and say Create infocube.
2.then the normal way of creating infosource,assigning source sytem to itand then creating infopackage should be done
3.But befor scheduling the info package go the info provider tree select the infocube u have create and just right click u'll find an option
Swith Transactional infocube click it then a pop upshows with 2 radiobuttions
1.Real time data target can be loaded with data,Planning not allowed check this radiobutton
2.real time data target can be planned,data loading not allowed
4.now u can go back to ur infopackage and schedule it.

Hi.
Transactional cube behaves as regular cube except additional possibility to write directly from planning applications.
So you can load this cube with regular BW tools (data source, info source, info package, update rules).
But as mentioned above before loading you should switch cube to load mode and after switch to planning mode using FM or manually.

Transporting Info areas and info cubes with all the contents

Hello Guru's,
I want to transport Info areas and info cubes with all the contents from 1 system to another. How can this be achieved.
Background... these belong to the system ($tmp), i already tried assigning them to a package and transported to the system, but only definitions have been copied over, there is no master data for any characteristics (i.e every characteristic is empty), there are no Hierarchies for any characteristics, there is no transaction data ===> effectively only the definitions is copied, but everything is emtpy.

No way to transport contents along with structure from on system to another.
Different system contains different data
DEV system has only rough data. So developed objects will be tested with rough data for consistancy of objets.
Quality system has some amount of original data. After transporting the delveloped objects from DEV to Quality we need to test the oblects with some original data in Quality.
Production or Live system has only live data. Afer testing complted in DEV and Quality ( with rough and Some amount of original data ) if the objects are giving desired values as per the requrements we need to transport them to Production system.
considering the above criteria no use of transporting data from one sysstem to another.

Delivered Transaction Cube

Does anyone know if there are any delivered transaction cubes with BW-BPS / SEM for controlling (CCA, OPA, WBS ) or do we have to create them from scratch.
