Remote app not scrolling

This is a recent problem, within the last few days....
The Remote app on my iPhone and iPod will not scroll in the Apple TV Netflix screen. I can select the Menu and it will go back one screen properly, but I cannot select any content (for example) in my Instant Queue except for the first item listed. Suggestions? I have restarted the iPhone, deleted the app and re-installed, still not working.

First time replying to any of these forums. Hope this helps someone.  I was having this same problem. I resolved it. What I did was disconnect the power supply to the Apple TV for at least 30 seconds.  I also disconectted my wireless modem for about the same time. As soon as I connected my modem back I immediately proceded and connected the power supply to the apple tv.  My phone app started working instantly.  But the I pad app I had to delete it an reinstall it.  They are both working fine.  I tried a few things before I did this and they did not work.  There is a logic to what I did.  But who cares. It works.  Try it.... If it work great.  I am happy and do not blame Apple for these types of clitches.  Apple Rocks... !!!!

After downloading an update, the remote will not scroll down.  Unable to do anything except buy iTunes movies.

  • IPhone 4 Remote App Not working

    Hello,
Sorry for posting another 'not working' thread, but having searched the forum I cannot find my answer.
I am not very technical, but I have iTunes and an iPhone 4.
I have the remote app and the app has worked perfectly up until recently.
I have upgraded iTunes to 10 and also my antivirus.
Now I know alot of these things could be caused by the firewall, but I have allowed iTunes to be let through the firewall and I have switched off the firewall in the past to ensure it was not this.
When I switch on the computer and open iTunes then go to the remote app it works. It is when the iPhone 'sleeps' that the library wont re connect, OR if i have been using iTunes and then try and start the remote that it will not work.
Any ideas at all as it is so frustrating. I am not technically minded, so switching router channels etc and proxy settings/DHCP etc dont really make sense to me.
I have tried rebooting everything including the router, but believe it is something simple as it was working prior to iTunes 10.
I am running a PC on Vista
    Thanks
    Steve

no I use both ipad2 iphone4 with remote app and have no issues with ios

  • Why does my remote app not find my iTunes Library?

I am trying to use my Remote App on my iPhone 5 to connect to my Windows 7 laptop, the iTunes is upgraded to the latest (iTunes 11). My HomeSharing is on in both spot (iTunes and Remote App). My Apple TV shows up in Remote App but my iTunes Library does not, even if I try manually to add iTunes Library, iTunes does not pick up my phone under "Devices". Please help

  • HT1947 iPad Remote App not picking up my .MP4 files on Server

Hi all, I've done everything in the guide article but when I open the App on iPad it says either "Connecting to your Library" or simply "loading" and just sits there for ages (all the time I've been searching the Community and writing this and its still loading - thats around half an hour at the moment). I have around 800 movies on a Synology DS413J so is it likely to be sheer volume slowing it?
The reason I want to use Remote App is that I thought it might give the option to display a list of movies via Apple TV that could be scrolled through or paged through or even searched because leafing through 800 Movie artworks one by one to select a movie to watch would take an age - I might as well walk into the study and put on the DVD!
    Any help gratefully accepted.
    Thanks

We might be having the same issue.  What I have noticed is that the Itunes App shows all of my content when I search directly on my Itunes library, on the PC.  But when I try to control my Itunes content through an Apple TV, all that I can see is the content that I purchased on the Apple store.  Do you see any pattern to the issue?
I submitted a complaint to Apple and someone was working on it, but now it seems she is no longer at Apple.

  • TS1741 Apple TV remote- no physical remote and remote app not working. ?

Hi I've just got a new wireless network and my Apple TV is not connected to it, error message  when I go to tv channel for Apple TV.  Error telling me to go to settings etc and connect which is fine.  Issue is I have no physical remote and  I had the remote app downloaded but it is not connecting to Apple TV, keeps prompting for. Home sharing which I have/had already activated but won't allow me to interact with Apple TV .. How do I get Apple TV connected to new network and get remote working??

You need the hardware remote.  You can not enable the remote app without it.  You can buy a replacement for $20.

  • Remote.app not being recognized by iTunes

I had Remote.app working with my computer form my iPhone and iPod touches. But the other day my DSL modem went out, and I had to get a new one. Now Remote.app can not connect to iTunes on my computer. The Wi-fi works fine on my iPhone and iPod touches, and can access the internet with no problems for them, but I can't connect to any app on my computer now, from my mobile devices. I followed the directions for setting up the Firewall, and iTunes show's properly in the list of acceptable applications. But still no luck. I also use Cha-Ching and can no longer access that app either. Both iTunes and Cha-Ching on my computer don't see that the device is connected. I have been through my setup for my DSL modem and believer I have everything setup properly, but I guess I need to call Qwest and see if they can help. Just thought I would ask here and see if anyone else has experienced this, and what they did to fix it.
    Thanks in advance.

try a complete *power cycle* of your equipment. shut everything down for @ least 15 minutes.
then, in intervals of 5 minutes, turn the modem back on, followed by your router, and last your computer.

  • Ipod Touch 4G Remote App not working

I was able to link my ipod Touch 4 to my laptop PC's itunes library. But when I try to register it with my desktop PC, iTunes accepts the four digit code and says "Your remote is now able to control iTunes." as it did on the laptop. But on my iPod the library it set up has a blank name at it won't connect. I've verified that the firewall on my PC has the correct ports opened. I even tried it with the firewall turned off but no luck.
My desktop PC is running Windows 7 Pro and my laptop PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium. I don't know that might have anything to do with it.
My iPod is software is version 4.2.1. The Remote app is version 2.1. I've tried Forgetting all remotes on my desktop's iTunes library and re-configuring the library, still no luck.
Any idea why it will connect on one PC and not the other? Both PCs are on the same network so I doubt it has anything to do with my router.

I had a more detailed look what my Netgear router setup (WPN824) is. UPnP is turned on and it has the following rules set:
Active Protocol Int. Port Ext. Port IP Address
    YES UDP 4500 4504 192.168.0.4
    YES UDP 5353 5357 192.168.0.4
The IP address listed is my MacMini.
Anyone around who knows if additional port fowards are needed for Remote to work?

  • Apple Remote App not reflecting recently added genres

During the initial round of cataloging movies, etc. and adding some custom genres, they were immediately reflected on the Apple Remote App.  However, subsequent additional genres are not showing up.  If I use the trackpad interface of the Ipad to navigate the Apple TV menus, the new genres are there...they just aren't on reflected on the remote app.
    Any ideas?

You are not alone. I tried all the fixes, multiple times, but nothing worked.
I think there's nothing to do but wait. The fact that many of us are experiencing the same problem with the iPad Remote app, and the fact that the iPhone Remote app still works fine, tells me it's a glitch in the software - maybe Apple TV 5.2, maybe iOS 6.1 (I updated to both yesterday).
Meanwhile, since Apple does not read these forums, I suggest we all leave comments on their feedback page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html
That way they'll at least know a bunch of us are having this issue.
Hopefully Apple will issue a fix soon.

  • Remote App not playing Playlists

I can't use the Remote app to play playlists. I believe I was able to a few weeks ago, but I think this problem popped up after the 2.1 update (not sure, though). Every time I attempt to play an individual or shuffle a playlist, I receive this message:
"An unknown error occurred. Please check your library and try again."
I've reinstalled the app already but that didn't seem to change anything. Any suggestions?

That should do it for you.

  • Remote app not connecting

Since the last system (security?) update last night (10.10.2 (14C1514)) the remote app on both my iPad and iPhone no longer connects. Restarted al devices (Mac mini , apple TV, Airport, iPad, iPhone) logged out and in  for homesharing, but no result. To my confusion the airport apps on my mobile devices indicate there is no airport extreme anymore... (they are very well connected to the internet though...) but the principal airport app on my Mac mini indicates everything is fine. No updates or anything needed and a good connection.
Still the remote app on iPhone and iPad cannot be used. Very annoying...
    Anyone ideas?

Thanks. this might be right. The more because the Airplay option is gone too on iPad and iPhone.
But can anyone explain how to solve this? I just use the default Apple settings and have recently nothing changed. Not on my Mac mini (firewall not activated) and not on my Airport extreme that functions as my router.

  • Remote app not functioning like it used to before iOS6 update.

I can not see my library icon on my iPhone 4 remote app when I shut my mac book pro's screen. As soon as I open my mac book pro's screen it apears again. I have always been able to do this except for the last few days. Did something change in the iOS6 update that I just put on my phone?

Once I did the update it will not charge as quickly as it used to I mean like could be on the charger all day and not reach 100% and my friend has an iPhone 5 and she had the same problem the charger isn't broken and nothing is wrong with with place on the device for the charger she had to end up getting a new charger but I'm not buying a new charger when this was not my fault

  • Apple remote app not finding anything

My Apple TV just updated its software. Home sharing is on.
iTunes home sharing is on too.
When I open apple remote app on iPhone 5, nothing is showing up.
I turn off home sharing, then turn it on and sign in remote app.
Still Apple TV or iTunes library not showing in remote app.
I turn off wifi on iPhone, then back on.
    Then they how up.
If I restart Apple TV and iTunes, they disappear from remote, and then I have to turn off/on wifi again.
Is this how it's supposed to work now?!
    Or is something wrong?!
    Thanks.

The separate wireless router that Virgin supplied is connected to the Time Capsule via ethernet and is broadcasting an 802.11g only signal and acting as an ethernet hub for a few devices.
You didn't mention it, so I just wanted to be sure ... is this separate wireless router configured as a bridge? If so, can devices, connected to it, "see" network clients connected to the TC ... without using VNC?

  • Remote app not connecting to itunes

so ever since the new update to itunes and remote a few weeks ago, my remote app will not stay connected to itunes for more then 10 minutes. like everyone else with this problem, if i restart itunes it'll work for 5-10 minutes then stop being able to see it. reinstalled the app, reinstalled bonjour, did just about everything but reinstall itunes.
guess my question is, has there been a answer to his problem yet? there have been 1 minor update for each the remote app and itunes since the major updates that caused the problem, and neither minor update fixed it. *** is going?

The upgrade to either the ATV, Remote, or iTunes has cause all three to stop working as advertised. Please oh great wonderful Apple repair your non-functioning applications so that I can be part of the Sheeple again and be happy with my purchases. I have no idea why my ATV syncs for hours and hours nor why the Remote suddenly stops seeing my Apple TV, or why iTunes just hangs. These are clearly issues related to the most recent upgrades issued by Apple, therefore it would follow reason that they are responsible for fixing the issue as nothing has changed with my home network. If anyone has insight into this problem with a fix, please post it here.

  • ITunes and Remote app not pairing

I'm having an incredibly frustrating problem with the Remote app and I'm wondering if anyone knows what to do.
The app has worked fine in the past. I've paired it to my iTunes library successfully and controlled it.
Recently, it has stopped working. When I try to re-pair it with iTunes, one of two things will happen:
1 - I will enter the passcode and iTunes will accept it, and then on the iPhone, I just get the spinning icon and then it times out. Most times when this happens, the library name on the iPhone is blank, even though I have a name set in iTunes. In the past, when this worked right, it had the right name; or
2 - I will enter the passcode in iTunes and it will get stuck on "Verifying Remote Passcode" in iTunes. Then it times out and I'm left with no connection.
So far, in attempting to solve the problem, I've:
+ installed the latest version of iTunes
+ deleted and reinstalled the Remote app on the iPhone
+ rebooted the iPhone and my iMac, and also reset the iPhone (hold down both buttons until the Apple logo appears).
+ changed the iMac's firewall settings to "set access to specific services and applications," added iTunes to the list, and set it to allow incoming connections
+ used the "Forget all remotes" option in the iTunes settings and then tried to pair again.
I've searched google and these message boards and found plenty of others with the same problem, but no real solution (some of the things I did above came from suggestions I saw in these other threads, but none of it worked for me).
The iTunes library and the iPhone are on the same network and in iTunes, the "Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes" option is checked.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

I really can't believe this question has not been answered yet. I'm having the exact same problem others have described. I posted on my blog regarding this issue with screen shots of the error I've been getting: http://ben.kwinix.com/blog/2009/11/20/oh-apple-what-does-this-mean/
My network is more complicated than most: I have an Airport Extreme running a 5 GHz 'N' network and a Netgear routher running a standard 'G' network. The Airport is the primary device and acts as the DHCP server; the Netgear is set up as an extender. I use the Airport to connect my iMac, MacBook, and Apple TV and the Netgear to connect my iPhone and any other 'G' devices that come into the house. All devices when connected to either router are provided an IP address by the Airport in the "10.0.1.x" format. Also, all devices say that the "router" is 10.0.1.1, which is the Airport.
When attempting to connect to any device on the network (either iTunes library or the Apple TV) with the Remote app from the iPhone, I typically get an error regarding a firewall or network settings. Everything is fully updated - latest versions of firmware, OSes, etc.
I've followed the steps outlined in an Apple support article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1741) without success. Someone out there has to have an answer!
