Remote app on iPhone 5S stopped working after iOS8 upgrade

I upgraded my iPhone 5S to iOS8 (and the subsequent updates too). I received the automatic update to the remote app. Since that time the remote app does not work. I have home sharing working on my Apple TV, MAC Pro and a Windows 8.1 PC. These devices are all connected to Home Sharing and it works fine. At this moment I am streaming music from my iTunes library on the Windows 8.1 PC on my Apple TV. A short time ago I was using Airplay with my MAC to watch an internet TV show. So all is well with Home Sharing. On the remote app I sign in to home sharing and it acknowledges that I am connected to home sharing. However, the next screen reads: "Turn On Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer or on Apple TV using xxxxxx". xxxxxx is replaced with my Apple ID. That's it. That's all I get. Cant get beyond that screen. I have deleted and reinstalled several times. I have logged into Home Sharing each time successfully and I ge the same screen. My Wi-FI is high speed AB and is working fine. Could use some help.

I have a similar issue with some different quirks...  I have my PC (Windows 7) running off the wi-fi. My router is an Airport Extreme. I also have an Airport Express in my garage for my outdoor speakers. Both upstairs and downstairs TV's have Apple TV. The Apple TV's and the Airport extreme AND my iPhone 5s are all on the same wi-fi network.
I have the remote app on my iPhone and it always always always accesses either Apple TV without issue. BUT it doesn't usually find the iTunes library on my computer. And once I do get it connected it only holds for a while before losing it again. In order to have the remote app find it again, I have to go to the PC, turn off Home Sharing and then turn it back on again. My remote app then sees it again and I am back in business...for awhile.
I have been through every troubleshooting list on the internet and can't find a resolution to this. iTunes is the latest version, i'm running ios8 on my phone etc etc etc. The whole point of the Airport Express was to be able to access the iTunes library from the back yard. When it is working it works beautifully. When it drops...frustrating.
Anyone else have this situation? It's not that it won't connect...it's just that it only stays connected for short periods of time.

  • My iPhone calendar stopped working after I upgraded to iCloud

I just upgraded my iMac to Lion and moved from MobileMe to iCloud. Everything is working fine between iCloud and the iMac and the iPhone 4 except the calendar on the iPhone 4 no longer works. Specifically it does not sync with iCloud, it does not show all the calendars that i have on iCloud (it just says All Calendars when i go into calendar). I can't add any events to the phone's calendar nor refresh them because the '+' button disappeared as well as the 'calendars' button. When I turn off the calendar under the iCloud settings those buttons reappear. I have tried turning the phone off and on as well as turning the calendar off and on in iCloud settings but nothing seems to work. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful. Thanks

Andra - I gave up on Apples attempts to sync calendars over the air after Mobile Me wiped out my precious work calendar a few times. I switched to Google Calendar Sync for iPhone which works perfectly and means I dont expose my work calendar to Apples unreliable over the air sync service. I cant speak for iCloud as after buying the iPhone 4S recently with a promise that iCloud is the 'all new reliable  better-than-MobileMe' sync service - I now learn I cannot use it unless i have Lion and Windows 7 OS's - neither of which I can have. Thanks Apple. Not!
I can recommend Google Calendar Sync on the basis that it works fine for me over the air sync, and as I said, has been very reliable compared to the destruction Mobile Me inflicted on my calendars.

  • My camera connection kit stopped working after I upgraded to  ios5

My camera connection kit stopped working after I upgraded to ios5. If I plug it in to my iphone I get a message saying it is not recognised, but when I plug it into the ipad it does nothing at all. I've tried resetting it, but that makes no difference.
I have an ipad 1 which I bought because it had lots of storage. I'm going on holiday soon, and I want to be able to upload my holiday photos to my ipad while I'm away.
    Any suggestions?

Actually this sounds the same problem I have on my iPad2.
I use a cheap copy of the CCK which I got off eBay.
It worked great when fitted with a 16gb SD card, but since I upgraded to 5.01 it has stopped working.
Sorry, no solution at this point but it worked on 4.3.3 but not on 5.01.
I'll keep on looking, was considering a proper CCK thinking the cheapmversion may be drawing too much current, but it sounds like that might not work either.

  • SugarCRM stops working after Leopard upgrade

My local copy of SugarCRM CE 4.5.1 was working in Tiger before I upgraded to Leopard last week.
After the upgrade, SugarCRM complains with the following message:

    =====
A copy of PHPMyAdmin has not had any problems during the transition from Tiger to Leopard, nor have local copies of WordPress and Drupal.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm new to the subtleties of Apache/PHP/MySQL on Leopard, so please be gentle.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the swift response.
I'm familiar with the socket location issues with MySQL on Mac OS X. My local copies of WordPress and PHPMyAdmin both work with their configurations pointing to the socket at /tmp/mysql.sock. These installations were working, along with SugarCRM, before the Leopard upgrade. Only SugarCRM has stopped working after the upgrade.
Is there something I misunderstand about your pointer?

  • My iPhone 5c 16gb stopped working after iOS8.1

I was updating my iPhone and when finishes, after a wile... it shows me frozen.
I connected to my macbook pro and, i receive a message to start restored to the factory firmware, and i did it... but now it's not registering... i cannot use the iphone i cannot even open anything because it's in the screen that you wait for a registering and after that you can continue, but now it's doing nothing... what i can do???? i'm desperate.

As the vast majority of iPhone 5Cs with iOS 8 don't have any problem with the camera, it seems unlikely that the update is to blame.
When you say the camera "stopped working", what exactly do you mean? Do you mean you can launch the Camera app? That you can launch it but can't take a picture? Be very specific about what you are doing and what happens. The better the information you give, the better the answers you'll get.

  • Iphone 5 stopped working after updated to IOS 7.1

I have just updated my iphone 5 to IOS 7.1 and unfortunately it stopped working. I can not turn it on. Anyone got the same problem? My phone is already out of warranty so I have no idea how much it would cost to fix my died phone

My sons iPhone 5 did the same thing after updating to iOS 7.1.
You may have to connect the device to a computer running iTunes and do a restore on the device. Restore as new. If you don't have a backup everything will be lost but you may get the device working again.

  • My iphone-4 stopped working after updating it to iOS 5

I tried upgrading my i-phone 4 to the new oerating system iOS5 and now it stopped working. it says connect to i-tunes and when I tried doing it my pc does not detect I-phone. can anyone help?

Same as I posted to another user:
well I only have a 3gs so I'm not all up on the current but the way I see it you have a few option's depending on the route you want to take,
If you don't mind loosing what's on the phone (if you want to try save info try 2 before 1)
    1. (Best Chance) put the iphone into DFU mode, (1. turn off iphone while plugged into computer, then hold the sleep button count to three 2. then hold the home button whiile still holding the sleep button, count to 10 3. release the sleep button but keep home button,) then itune should detect the phone and offer to restore it, this should restore it
1b.  I would repeat above with a active SIM card, doesn't make a difference where I live but you never know
I'd suggest this if your having problems connecting
1c.  I would try On difference Computer (rule out bad download, currupt driver's etc etc)
If you want to try save the information then I would say you are doing some of this at your own risk as I'm not sure about apple rules regarding these, the steps should all be legal but might void your warrently so be warned!
    2. Download a utility call Tinyumbrella ( http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/ ) and have you phone connected and run the program, on the left should be a list of connected devices (make sure itunes is closed) click on the device connected and on the right click exit recovery, hopefully your device will reboot normally, (there's also an fix recovery option but I've never used that)
2b this option is to jailbreak your phone as that "hacktivates" your phone if using this option and it works I suggest a FULL backup then follow option 1 above, download a program call Redsn0w ( http://blog.iphone-dev.org/tagged/redsn0w ) and follow the instructions that come with it, again if this works I suggest a full backup then follow option 1 about even if you do wish to stay "jailbroken"
this advice is just some idea's as you have given no information on what happen or firmware involved current mood of phone ^^ I can only hazard a guess at the problem< if after these steps is doesn't work i suggest trying to bring it back and get someone professional to look at it

  • Iphone sound stopped working after ios 6.0 update

My 4s was working fine until I updated to 6.0.  After that, my sound stopped working.  If I plug in headphones it works, but as soon as I unplug it stops.  When I plug into my USB sync cable it works, but when I unplug it stops working. I updated through user settings over wifi and not through itunes sync if that makes any difference.  I know other people are experiencing similar problems.  Any help would be appreciated.

Yes rev, I tried the dock cleaning as well, I didn't help me either. I read and tried everything others did-no luck. I'm guessing these are the facts, either it will quietly get fixed on an update or the % of phones with the problem compared to those that don't doesn't warrant attention and is better addressed through Apple by just replacing it..if it's still under warranty.

  • My iPhone 3GS stopped working after one year one month, and is totally unresponsive.

I went to plug my phone into my stereo as I do daily and it just stopped working. Totally unresponsive.

Charge it for 30 minutes with a wall charger, then disconnect and hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears, about 10 seconds.
BTW, it's a holiday in the US and UK, so amazingly enough, many users are out enjoying themselves, which is why you didn't get an instantaneous response. Even then expecting an answer in less than 30 minutes in an all volunteer forum is optimistic.

  • USB scanner stopped working after PC upgrade

I have HP Officejet 4500 all in one printer. It has both USB and ethernet connections.
This week I have upgraded all PC components (so everything is new) except SSD drive so that I was able to continue where I stopped working.
However, my USB connection with printer stopped working.
First of all, I need to say, that I had to make scanner working over ethernet, so now my printer/scanner works without USB, but:
    1. what may be the reason to stop USB connection working?
scanimage -L has usually expected output:
    scanimage -L
    device `hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4500_G510g-m?serial=CN141F219005CQ' is a Hewlett-Packard Officejet_4500_G510g-m all-in-one
    but sometimes:
    scanimage -L
    and sometimes:
    scanimage -L
    device `hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4500_G510g-m?serial=0' is a Hewlett-Packard Officejet_4500_G510g-m all-in-one
When I try to scan over USB:
    scanimage --format=tiff > test.tiff
scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4500_G510g-m?serial=CN141F219005CQ failed: Invalid argument
    sometimes it stucks and sometimes:
    scanimage --format=tiff > test.tiff
scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4500_G510g-m?serial=0 failed: Invalid argument
I have tried all steps on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Scanner site. I remind, that on the old PC it was working correctly. The problem appeared after upgrade.

I don't have any such problem with rear USB.
All other USB devices work with front USBs. (wireless mouse, USB external HDD, USB CD/DVD, bluetooth dongle).
Can anybody explain me these issues please?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Incoming Emails stopped working after Sony Upgrade

Hi, yesterday I upgraded to the latest Sony software 12.1.A.1.205 and my Talk Talk emails have stopped working. I have been in touch with Talk Talk and my settings are correct - POP3 server - mail.talktalk.net, Port 110... My outgoing emails work absolutely fine. It happened immediately after the upgrade. I can see that that I currently have 57 emails to read on the the phone but it just won't display any at all after the upgrade. Any ideas would be most welcome. Thank you.

We appreciate you spending so much time with Apple trying to get your information and audio back. We want you to have a fantastic working phone so you can enjoy our wireless network for many more years. Did you have your information backed up before the update? You may be able to follow the steps at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 to restore your iPhone to it's previous information-filled glory.
As for the volume, make sure to check inside the headset jack for any debris or corrosion. I've come across pocket lint in my headset jack that caused the phone to think I had headphones plugged in. If the jack is all clear, try playing any song from your  Controller Center (Sliding from botton to top with the screen block) using the Earphones. Disconnect the earphones while the song's playing (the song will stop), and then press play again without the earphones in. This may help to trigger the phone to play sound normally. If not, when did you purchase your iPhone? Has there been any damage?
    Thank you

  • Navigation and other features suddenly stopped working after I upgraded to FF4.

A day or two after I upgraded from FF 3.6 to FF4, all the ordinary navigation features stopped working. Backspace/alt-<, even the back and forward arrows, Crtl-R to reload a page, and the address field doesn't show the current URL unless I click the identify information icon. All very odd. None of the keyboard shortcuts work.
My bookmark toolbar does not load automatically, although I guess that Vista is the source of that issue.

Doing a downgrade is not anything I have done or feel comfortable with. Is there a clean procedure to accomplish this?

  • IPhone 4, Stopped Vibrate After OS Upgrade

    Hi,
    My question has two parts:
    1. My IPhone 4 simply stopped vibrate after a software upgrade, i did everything i restart it stop start the vibrate button but nothing helped, is there anything i can do?
    2. I leave in Israel and there is no Apple store in Israel i got the phone from Canada, in the coming month i fly to London, will i be able to request for server from them? Or it must be in Canada?
p.s. i purchase the phone via the web (Apple Canada)

The iPhone warranty terms state that Apple "may" restrict warranty & service to the country of original purchase. Since your phone is officially unlocked, and officially unlocked iPhones are available in the UK, you may very well get your phone serviced/replaced there. Only one way to find out, book an appointment at an Apple store.
Have you tried the basic troubleshooting steps from the user guide? Reset>Restore from Backup>Restore as a New Device.

i can only use it for texts, phone calls and camera at the moment which is not why i chose iphone!

after upgrade of iOS4 on my iPhone 3G the battery perfomance decraeses dramatically.
I use the 3G-mode and bluetooth, but no location id service and no wifi, but the battery runs empty within 4 hours. As far as I know, multitasking is not available for my 3G.
with the previous OS my iPhone runs nearly 2 days with the same settings und usage.
    What should I do?
Settings/General/Reset Reset Network Settings, then reboot (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears)
If you have an Exchange email account and still have the problem do the following:
Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, tap on the Exchange account and delete it. Reboot. Go back to Settings and add it back.
There are other possibilities, including misbehaving applications, but this is a common problem with Exchange.
