Any suggestions when my apple tv sleeps or goes to screen saver my remote app on the iPad will not wake it up everything is updated to latest versions

no, remote app never supported waking up appletv's
if that will change I can't say but you can let apple know how you feel

Remote app on Ipad 2 (and Apple TV 1st gen)

I have an Apple TV (1st gen) which I control thorugh an Iphone 4 and Ipad 1. I recently bought an Ipad 2 and installed the Remote app. The app finds my ATV and I can control the music in it, but the control function (that allow the ipad screen to become a trackpad) is missing, so I cannot navigate on the ATV's menu. I can still do it on the Iphone4 and Ipad 1 (even with the updated IOS). I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app on my Ipad2 but the control function is still missing. Has anyone experienced this before? Do you know how to fix it?

Have you tried resetting the iPad, to do this:
Press and hold the Home button and the Wake / Sleep buttons at the same time, keep them both pressed until you see the Apple logo appear on the screen (ignore the swipe to turn off message, keep the buttons pressed).

My remote apps no longer recognize the Apple TV

My dear sweet son has lost my remote for the Apple TV. This usually isn't a problem because of the remote app on my iPod, iPhone, and iPad. However, none of them are recognizing my Apple TV for some reason. I have home sharing turned on, and iTunes recognizes it. I would just turn homesharing off and on again on the Apple TV, but I can't because I have no remote. Is there anything else I can do besides buy a new remote?

No you won't. If you turn it off you would have no way to turn it on.... if you could connect at all. You need the actualy device remote. The app is just for convince. They only cost like $20.

Remote App won't list songs when sorted by artist

I'm using the Remote App to control my iTunes running on my PC with Windows XP, it mostly runs fantastic and I love it! One small and annoying problem though, when I search my library by artist and select an artist, it won't list any songs. I am also using the remote app on my iPhone for the same iTunes library and have no problems at all! I thought it may have been an issue with my ID3 tags, however seeing as it is working with my iPhone I'm not sure what the issue could be????? I love the Remote App and it has made my home audio system fantastic, if only I could sort this small issue! Any ideas???? Thanks.

There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is marked as part of a compilation or 2) the song has no album name associated with it.
if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. If you are using iTunes 8 and view the multiple items info box the compilations setting is in the "Options" tab. Setting "Compilations" on your iPod main menu prevents you getting lots of single artist entries when you load an album by various artists.
Also if the tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances (for instance I read somewhere that if you have at least two tracks with different album names the rest will appear), however the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. Remote app won't connect to itunes (Iphone 5 & MBP)

I currently have a iPhone 5 and a MacBook Pro and am trying to connect them using the remote app (the latest version). Both are running on the same wireless network. I have gone through the troubleshooting items as found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1741.
I have tried:
---deleting the app & reinstalling
---turning on/off home sharing on both the Mac and iPhone
---resetting the router
---changing the router to WPA2
---turning on/off the Mac and iPhone
When I open the remote app, I can see my itunes library logo and I click on it to connect, but it then takes several seconds and then tells me "Remote can't connect to your iTunes library. Check your network settings and try again." I have also tried adding an itunes library with the passcode deal, and that does not work either. I will type in the CORRECT passcode, but then it tells me its incorrect (what the heck?). I will do it again, and this time it thinks for quite a while and then still tells me its incorrect.
This has been super frusterating, and knowledge about these issues seem to be scattered all over these forums. Has anyone had success overcoming this issue by doing something else that I have not tried?

I have this same issue. I can connect to my AppleTV fine but not Itunes on my MAC. It has worked for me previously with my Windows PC but I cannot for the life of me get it to connect to Itunes running on my MacBook Air. I am running the latest software on all devices. Both are connected to the same network using an airport express. There has to be something wrong here.

Yes I have and this problem didn't start until I got the Apple Watch update. I have an iPhone 5 if that helps.

Remote app won't see my library

Ok, trying to control my computer's music using Remote. Got a 4S in good working order with iOS7, fully updated. Got a mid-2012 Macbook Air holding the library. An Airport Express is providing wireless connectivity.
Here's some screenshots to walk through my problems here:

Got my Shared Libraries option ticked, looks like I'm ready to go.
This is weird. No "Shared" heading here.
Home sharing is definitely on, and using the same Apple ID as the Remote app on my phone.
Remote tells me:
Turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer or on Apple TV using the account … .
I've tried disconnecting and rebooting both devices. I've not yet tried restoring the phone, and I'd like to avoid it if possible.
One more weird thing: Trying the option of adding a computer that is not using Home Sharing, I got the following to happen: First, the Remote app appeared as a device as it should. Finally, something's happening! Then, I put in the confirmation code (so far, so good) and then… nothing. iTunes hangs for a while on the okay button and a gray iTunes logo appears in the Remote app that is impossible to interact with in any way beside deleting.
Bottom line:
I want to know if there's something wrong with my network settings, or if there's an obscure sharing setting or terminal command that I need to invoke for this **** thing to start working, or if I'm simply out of luck. Any ideas?

Can't help on this as I am having the exact same issue. Went through updating both iTunes on my MBA and Remote to latest version as of today (June 1st 2014). Nothing at all happens. Firewall permissions granted to iTunes. Little Snitch is not blocking any itunes traffic (in fact I even tried disabling it and no better results). I do have the PrivateInternetAccess client installed but even disabled and exiting from the app, nothing appears.
I miss the side bar in previous iTunes versions where Home Sharing used to be.

Remote app won't connect after using it and closing it

I currently have iTunes 11.1.3.8 installed on my computer which runs Windows 7. I am trying to get the remote app to work on my iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0.3.
I connect to the Remote App using the remote 4-digit code. Once I do this it works while I have the app opened. But, once I close the app or iTunes I am not able to reconnect and I have to enter the 4-digit code again. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

I read that first article and think that we forgot to turn on Home Sharing on the iPod! I sent the link to them and hope it will solve the problem - will have to wait until they get back to me to see if that worked since they live pretty far from me...but I'm hopeful!

Apps won't wake up my Mac

For a while now I have had a pretty big issue... Any application that needs to wake my Mac (for example, Awaken for alarms and EyeTV3 for recordings) just won't. This applies to ANY and ALL apps that need to wake it up. This obviously is a system wide issue and not the application's fault. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get this working again. Please!!

Oh! I got a very quick reply from Jerry Brace (Awaken developer) and here's the fix. It worked great.
- Open the Finder and follow the following path:
Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration and delete "com.apple.AutoWake.plist".
(You will be asked to enter your password to delete this file. A fresh copy of this file will be created by the system.)
And yes, these applications do wake up the computer when it's asleep. It's great for when I'm not around and EyeTV needs to record something.

IPad Pandora app won't play to Apple TV

My daughter's iPhone Pandora app will connect and play on our Apple TV but I cannot get the Pandora app on my iPad to play on the same apple TV. What am I missing

Thanks for the help. In the mean time I have figured out how to get it to switch from internal (iPad) speakers to the AppleTV. The problem was that the Pandora app when started does not have a volume control, where you would normally find the toggle button to switch where output goes to. If you use the power button to get it to go dormant (not powered off) and then double click the selection button to wake the iPad back up the Pandora item that is playing comes up in a screen that actually has a volume control. Right next to the volume control is the little arrow button that you can push to get it to switch to Apple TV.

My Ipad and computer are syncd, apps won't load on Apple tv, says "no content was fund in this library". How do I get my apps on to Aple TV?

I've had a similar problem for weeks. 4s running 5.1.1 with latest iTunes on Windows 7. Remote asks to Turn on Home Sharing, which is already on. None of the lame troubleshooting suggestions made a difference.
