Remote branch guest and Print services

We are deploying guest internet services in our remote branches, using a setup of WLC4402 and LAPs.
These guests require print services at the remote branch.
The DMZ will not be routed to the remote branches, and we prefer if the remote branch printer is not given a
permanent wireless guest account.
Is there a solution whereby we can connect the printer to these wireless guests.

  • Trouble connecting to Apple's book and print service

Does anyone know why I can't connect to the printing service. When I'm ready to print my book thru Apple's service I hit the BUY BOOK... key at the botton left and all I see is the blue candy swirl line. I don't even get into the first window of the service where you choose cover colors. I've let the blue swirl run for a long time before I cancel but nothing happens.

Just a thought but could the problem be with your firewall ?
Whenever I've had problems with PC applications connecting to remote servers it's usually turned out to be the firewall blocking the port in use.

  • Remote Desktop Connection and printing issues

    Hi,
I am using Windows 7 on my desktop and also connected to Windows Server 2008 R2 to run applications in Windows Server. However, I noted there is problem with the printer issues. Sometimes, when I tried to print some documents using applications
in Windows Server with my local printer in my room connected to desktop, it won't work.
Moreover, I need to go to Windows Server, Component Service to restart printer spooler so it will work again. This is a pain.
I also noticed there is about 30 seconds wait to process any document to print.
Unlike if I print documents directly from my local desktop computer running Windows 7 and connected to local printer, it only takes seconds to print.
My desktop is connected to Windows Server 2008 via local area network. I should not expect such a significant delay in printing.
I also wonder why printer spooler needs to be restarted when printer is not working.
Can anyone advise me about this? Can Microsoft looks into this problem and release updates to fix the bug to improve the system?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Clement

    Hi,
Please check if you turn on this settings:
You need to set this up just before you connect. The setting will be saved so that you won't need to change it the next time you connect.
    1. Open Remote Desktop Connection by clicking the Start button, clicking
All Programs, clicking Accessories, and then clicking
    Remote Desktop Connection.
2.Click Options, and then click the Local Resources
    tab.
3.Under Local devices and resources, select the Printers check box.
4.Click Connect to start the session.
Make sure that you select your printer in the Print dialog box each time you print.

  • Remote Web Workplace and printing

At home, I have a Win7 laptop and a new HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer.  I use Remote Web Workplace to connect to my Win7 desktop at the office (both are 64 bit).  I installed the 8620 print drivers onto the Office PC.
I connected to the Office PC via RWW.  The Office PC sees my 8620 printer at home and says 'redirect'.  I print a test page and open the printer window to 'see what's printing',  I see the printout spooling, then printing, then gone from
the window as if it is done.  But it never actually prints.  My printer at home doesn't even look like it is receiving any data from RWW.
I previously had an HP Officejet model printer connected successfully.  And, most recently, used a Lexmark Pro915.  I need to replace the Lexmark.
After trying the 8620 without success, I reconnected the Lexmark and it works just fine.

I think I have seen this before with office jet printers.  It may even have been your post here or on another forum.  I don't think that printer with that driver will be successful without a third party RDS print program.
Will the local printer respond to a simple print driver such as HPIII or Inkjet 520?  What about the universal print driver?  If so, you might try remote printing with that driver.

  • How to Default to "Connect As: Guest" when Printing?

I can print from my iMac running Snow Leopard to a Windows XP printer over my LAN. However, every time I print I have to select Guest from the "Connect As" option. How do I default this so it automatically prints as Guest? (The printer is a Canon MultiPASS MP730.) I have this same problem when printing from either of my MacBooks which run Leopard.

There is a method where you can create a queue with the user details. This is done by adding the Advanced icon to the Add Printer toolbar and then adding the details to the Windows queue as
    smb://username:password@ipaddress/sharename
where the IP address is that of the Windows computer sharing the printer.
But I would suggest you look at enabling the LPD service in XP and then you can print without having to authenticate.
In Windows, open Control Panel and then open Add/Remove Programs. Select Add/Remove Windows Components and then select 'Other Network File and Printing Services' in the Wizard list. Select the Details button and enable Print Services for Unix. OK this and complete the Wizard.
Now with the Unix service running on Windows you can create a new print queue on the Mac using LPD instead of Windows. For the Host Name you can enter the IP address of Windows and the Queue Name is the printer share name on Windows. Then add the same driver as being used currently and you should be okay to print without having to enter any user info.

  • I need to tell Print services to use the 2nd ethernet port

I need to tell Print services to use the 2nd ethernet port
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light. My research has led me to a dead-end so far. Running 10.3.9 on my server. XServe Dual 2.3
I want to have File services and the various other duties pushed through one ethernet port, and print services on the other. I know there is probably a config file to make one simple edit, but I can not find it, or perhaps a "defaults" type command.
Also, where is this "command-line administration guide" that I keep running across on Apple's support?
    Thanks in advance.

Similar issue here too. Is it the subnet? Basically, I'm having a problem printing to an AirportExpress-served printer. Our network looks like this:
    (From Outside...>>>...to Inside)
    (Public IP) DSL Modem
    ...(10.0.0.x) Airport Express -- HP DesignJet 100 USB -- Airtunes/stereo
    ...(10.0.0.x) NetGear Wireless Router
    ...(10.0.0.x nic 0) Mac OS X Server (192.168.0.x nic1)
    ......(192.168.0.x) Mac OS X client
    ......(192.168.0.x) Mac OS X client
    ......(192.168.0.x) Mac OS X client
The printer driver does not appear to be able to do IP printing, it assumes a direct USB connection. We can setup the OS X Server with the printer served by the Airport Express, as it is found via Bonjour, and then we share its queue via Server Admin. The problem is that the LAN clients cannot print to this server queue. The printer gets stopped at the server.
If we turn OFF the OS X Server's firewall, printing works from both the clients and obviously from the Server. I think my question is this: what ports or services need to be turned on in order for the clients to print? There is no clear checkbox for "Bonjour Printer Sharing", and I'm curious what ports this would open, and if it would be safe. I thought it would work because we're pushing the print job up through the firewall, but apparently some response needs to come back through the firewall, and that's what's not happening.
And to tack onto this, how could we also push iTunes to the Airport Express from the Clients? Assuming the music goes over different ports than the print jobs. ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey Guys,I wanted to ask for recommendations on how to alleviate a problem I'm currently having. I've inherited this situation, so looking for advice.I have a single WS2008 Storage server handling file shares, print services and roaming profiles storage for roughly 80 users.

The problem is with RDS logoffs around 530pm daily. File shares and print services becomes very slow. I realize that it has to do with the amount of traffic that the file server is processing during that time and will usually lasts about 30mins.Questions:

Have you checked the Print Service log in event viewer?
    Here's How.
I have the Microsoft XPS driver on my clients, so I use that fact to my advantage below.
Click Start Button/Administrative Tools/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Services Manager on the RDSH server
Click the Sessions tab.  PC’s are listed Under Client Name by their computer name.  Take Note of the corresponding
ID.  We will use this to locate the Printer information in the Event Log.
In the Event Log open Application and Services Logs/Microsoft/Windows/Print Service/Admin/ and Find the Event ID 823 entry that has the corresponding ID from the sessions tab you previously noted.
This Event Log Entry is created at Logon and you can only get the session ID when they are logged in.
This tells you what client printer was mapped for the client.  The name that appears is the name of the Printer that was set on the client when the printer was installed.
See if you see any errors here.
If you see Event Id 823 with the following message “The default printer was changed to Microsoft XPS Document Writer,winspool,Ne00:. See the event user data for context information.”  Twice in a row with no other messages in between, and the first occurs
at the time the user logged in, then their printer was not properly redirected.
You see the Microsoft XPS driver mapped for each session prior to Easy Print redirecting the client machine’s Default Printer.
Since your printer is the HP 1020 I would bet the driver on the client does not work with Easyprint.  I would try the  the HP Universal Print Driver or the driver for a printer that is very close, like the HP 1018.
    Thanks,

  • Online printing services and that built into Aperture

    Hi,
I regularly have pictures printed by a well known high street photo store here in the UK but just recently I've been disappointed with some of the results.
They're coming back too dark and with a yellow cast even though the original files look fine when viewed on several different modern monitors, some calibrated, some not. I even run my monitor at minimum brightness when preparing them to try to simulate how dark they will look when printed using this service. I also add much more exposure to some pictures in Aperture to the point where they start to look washed out and even then they come back a bit dark.
I'm therefore looking to find an alternative service. Can anyone recommend a reliable and affordable online printing service that produces results close to the electronic versions viewed on their monitor?
Has anyone tried the built in "Order Prints" option in Aperture? How did it go?
I briefly tried to use this option last night but for some reason it didn't recognise my Apple ID which I thought was the same as I use to log into these forums ie "d60Dave" in my case. Am I mistaken?
    Regards,
    Dave.

I second that about photobox. I've used them for 2 years or so - never had to send anything back. I've been pleased with the results for prints, posters and small booklets. online service only

  • Print services and linux clients

    Hi,
I'm installing a Windows Server 2012R2 as a printer server. It must give support to all kind of clients (windows, os x and linux).
Then, I must use event id 307 and 805 to count printed pages.
My question is related with event 307 and linux clients. I'm asking linux users to configure their CUPS to connect using samba printer, for example, \\server\printer001 but when I check event id, I get no file name (Remote Downlevel Document), and most important,
I get 0 printed pages in param8. I did some testing using IPP, but I were not able to configure a printer in linux (couldn't manage to make linux clients to validate with their domain user account when using IPP). I tried configuring printer on server to render
jobs in server with no luck. Tried PS drivers just in case it was easier to CUPS to send info to server, but no luck either.
So, basically, is there any way to configure server (or linux client) so I get page count in event 307 in printservice? If I must configure IPP printing, how may clients configure their printers to validate using domain accounts?
    Thanks!

  • "Pages" and "Sheets" columns in Server Admin Print Service Jobs

I've been using Print Service for a while now and it's been working reasonably well.
When I'm monitoring queues in Server Admin, I've noticed there are columns for "Pages" and "Sheets." These columns are always blank for every print job in every print queue.
I am not using Print Quotas, but I am managing Preferences for Printing in Workgroup Manager.
    I have two questions:
    1) Any idea why these columns are blank? Does the client-side and/or server-side printer driver have to support this feature? I'm using HP's latest Laserjet drivers for each queue on both the clients and the server. Perhaps these columns are only applicable when using Print Quotas?
    2) If these columns did show something, what would be the difference between "Pages" and "Sheets?" Apple's own documentation offers no description. All their Print Service manual says is:
"Jobs are listed in priority order, and include the name of the user who submitted each job, the name of the job, its size, the number of sheets to be printed, the current status of the job, and the number of pages in the job (you might need to scroll to see the page column)."
    Pretty vague...

  • Photo printing services and the ProPhotoRGB profile?

I recently tried to have some images printed by Adorama here in NYC and they came back washed out and brownish. I eventually deduced that the issue was that the photos had an embedded ProphotoRGB color profile and that Adorama couldn't handle it or convert it to something that would work.
Does anyone have any suggestions for online printing services that can manage this color space and give me really nice prints?
I've just uploaded the same files to Mpix to see how they manage - anyone have any experience with Mpix? How about Nations Photo Lab?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Also - what is the best workflow for converting ProPhotoRGB color space to another color space? I tried converting it to Adobe RGB and it looks crap.
    Thanks

Both Mpix and WHCC, among others, support a fully color-managed workflow
that allow you to embed a standard RGB working space profile like ProPhoto.
Exactly how did you perform a conversion to Adobe RGB, and how did you view
the image after performing the conversion?

  • Tiger Server and Leopard workstatiger and Lepard workstons - Print Services

Good morning. We are running Tiger server with a 'mixed economy' of Tiger and Leopard workstations. I am finding that Workgroup Manager does not manage the print queues for users at Leopard workstations. They can see and use all the printer queues managed by Print Services. The Tiger machines are fine i.e. they just present the print queues that have been allocated by Workgroup Manager.
I assume that this is an anomaly due to Tiger Server not being 100% compatible with Leopard. But has anyone else experience of this and or a possible solution please?

    Hi Brian
Not with the Print Service specifically but I have noticed similar 'anomalies' elsewhere. For an OD environment nothing specific as such. Tiger MCX do not seem to 'take' in the same way for Leopard Clients as they do for Tiger Clients.
No shattering insight so sorry for that. Of course - you've guessed it - if its all Leopard there are no problems.
